JavaScript - Show Pdf Files From A Server Location As Links On A Webpage
Similar TutorialsHere is a simple slideshow with an on-off button. The images (7 defined) are numbered 01-07.jpg and in the same folder. My question. How to call the images from a different folder with the script. I can change the <img scr> HTML tag to include a directory where the images are but how do I tell the script? Thanks in advance! ---page code below--- <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en"> <script type="text/javascript"> var Start = 1 var Timer3 function SlideShow() { if (document.all.ShowButton.value == "Stop Show") { clearInterval(Timer3) document.all.ShowButton.value = "Start Show" } else { document.all.ShowButton.value = "Stop Show" Timer3 = setInterval("NextPic()" ,3000) } } function NextPic() { Start += 1 if (Start > 7) { Start = 1 } document.all.Pic.src = "0" + Start + ".jpg" } </script> <body> <img id="Pic" src="01.jpg"></p> <input id="ShowButton" type="button" value="Start Show" style="font-size:9pt" onclick="SlideShow()"/><br> </body> </html> I did not set this up. We currently have an intranet and the navigation has a drop down menu, which is a linkset or a popitmenu. When we update the link on the index page it does not update globally. Is there a way to do this? Or would we have to go to each active page and update the linkset manually? Our experience is minimal in the coding world. We are currently using Dreamweaver. Any help would be much appreciated? Should we have used a different nav coding? A "spry"?... idk... Hi, I'm working on a webpage which has a lot of information packed into it... I wanted to create a simple navigation inside the website, for example; ................................. This section deals with; Q1 (click to go to this section) Q2 (click to go to this section) ...... Heading: Q1 bla bla bla (click here to go back to top of the page) ..... Heading: Q2 bla bla bla (click here to go back to top of the page) (click here to go back to the top of the page) .......................... I have seen some javascript codes which are just unbelievable complicated and advanced, how can I do this with the simplest of codes? I appreciate your time, Thanks! Hello again... I have written a custom slideshow script which gets the images from an array... The script will change the src of a img, which is a fullscreen background. Now here's the problem, I've been trying to write a function where can define a folder "gallery\test\", and then get all image files in that folder and repopulate the slideshow array. So, is there a way to scan folders? I've searched around and found some solutions where PHP is used, but i really want to keep this pure js, if possible (?) Thanks, hey guys this is my first post, looking at the sheer wwealth of knowledge on here i thought you guys would be the best people to ask. I have created a photography website myself and coded it all in dreamweaver cs4. Now i have created it using html, as i didnt want to limit it to flash users and loading times etc etc. So today i found myself a nice simple slideshow tool that uses html and javascript. i created it using a site online (which i will not post as i dont think we are allowed to post to online sites). The slideshow loads images up in the background, and it plays them in a random order. Now i am able to define individual image links to either a url of the an image, or point it to individual images, listing them one by one in my coding, which as a photographer having differet galleries is goign to be a royal pain when i want to have new images showing up. So my idea is to replace the code that retrieves in dividual images from url's, to replace it with a piece of code that will display an image from a list of about 7 or 8 folders on my server all containing images.... i.e. displays an image from the folder .../images/models/pic01.jpg then it brings up an iamge from a different folder .../images/portrait/pic08.jpg. Is there a way to do this and how can i go about it? this is the code i currently have: Code: <!-- configurable script --> <script type="text/javascript"> theimage = new Array(); // The dimensions of ALL the images should be the same or some of them may look stretched or reduced in Netscape 4. // Format: theimage[...]=[image URL, link URL, name/description] theimage[0]=["/images/models/photo01.jpg", "", ""]; theimage[1]=["/images/models/photo02.jpg", "", ""]; theimage[2]=["/images/models/photo03.jpg", "", ""]; theimage[3]=["/images/models/photo04.jpg", "", ""]; theimage[4]=["/images/models/photo05.jpg", "", ""]; ///// Plugin variables playspeed=3000;// The playspeed determines the delay for the "Play" button in ms dotrans=1; // if value = 1 then there are transitions played in IE transtype='revealtrans';// 'blendTrans' or 'revealtrans' transattributes='0';// duration=seconds,transition=#<24 //##### //key that holds where in the array currently are i=0; //########################################### //if random function SetRandom() { tempimage = new Array(); for(p=0; p<theimage.length; p++){ for(p1=0; p1>-1; p1) { tempNum = Math.floor(Math.random()*theimage.length) if(!tempimage[tempNum]){ tempimage[tempNum]=theimage[p]; break; } } } for(p=0;p<theimage.length;p++)theimage[p]=tempimage[p]; } //if random order SetRandom() //########################################### window.onload=function(){ //preload images into browser preloadSlide(); //set transitions GetTrans(); //set the first slide SetSlide(0); //autoplay PlaySlide(); } //########################################### function SetSlide(num) { //too big i=num%theimage.length; //too small if(i<0)i=theimage.length-1; //switch the image if(document.all&&!window.opera&&dotrans==1)eval('document.images.imgslide.filters.'+transtype+'.Apply()') document.images.imgslide.src=theimage[i][0]; if(document.all&&!window.opera&&dotrans==1)eval('document.images.imgslide.filters.'+transtype+'.Play()') } //########################################### function PlaySlide() { if (!window.playing) { PlayingSlide(i+1); if(document.slideshow.play){ document.slideshow.play.value=" Stop "; } } else { playing=clearTimeout(playing); if(document.slideshow.play){ document.slideshow.play.value=" Play "; } } // if you have to change the image for the "playing" slide if(document.images.imgPlay){ setTimeout('document.images.imgPlay.src="'+imgStop+'"',1); imgStop=document.images.imgPlay.src } } //########################################### function PlayingSlide(num) { playing=setTimeout('PlayingSlide(i+1);SetSlide(i+1);', playspeed); } //########################################### //desc: picks the transition to apply to the images function GetTrans() { //si=document.slideshow.trans.selectedIndex; if((document.slideshow.trans && document.slideshow.trans.selectedIndex == 0) || (!document.slideshow.trans && dotrans==0)){ dotrans=0; } else if ((document.slideshow.trans && document.slideshow.trans.selectedIndex == 1) || (!document.slideshow.trans && transtype == 'blendTrans')){ dotrans=1; transtype='blendTrans'; document.imgslide.style.filter = "blendTrans(duration=1,transition=1)"; }else{ dotrans=1; transtype='revealtrans'; if(document.slideshow.trans) transattributes=document.slideshow.trans[document.slideshow.trans.selectedIndex].value; document.imgslide.style.filter = "revealTrans(duration=1,transition=" +transattributes+ ")"; } } //########################################### function preloadSlide() { for(k=0;k<theimage.length;k++) { theimage[k][0]=new Image().src=theimage[k][0]; } } </script> then this is the little bit of html Code: <!-- slide show HTML --> <form name="slideshow"> <table border="1" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="0"> <tr> <td align="center"> <a href="#" onMouseOver="this.href=theimage[i][1];return false"> <script type="text/javascript"> document.write('<img name="imgslide" id="imgslide" src="'+theimage[0][0]+'" border="0">') </script> </a> </td> </tr> </table> </form> <!-- end of slide show HTML --> hope someone can shed a little light on this for me thank you Chris Does anyone have a scroller that goes side to side, to display links for a website? I have a similar thing that goes up and down: www.sjwum.org This one will not adapt to side to side. So who knows of a scroller that moves horizontally and when you click on something it is a link to another page on the website? Thanks Hi there, I am trying to open some SWF videos from an HTML page. When the user clicks the link, I would like to have the videos open in a transparent window (not a separate browser wndow). I have figured out how to embed the files and have them open in a transparent window as soon as you load/refresh the page but I want to open the SWF using a link. Any suggestions? Thank you all. B Code: <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"> function confirmDelete(url){ var decision = confirm("Click OK to delete this post."); if(decision == true){ window.location = url; } } </script> <!--HTML LATER ON --> <a onclick="confirmDelete('deletePost.php?id=17')" href=''><img src='delete.png' alt='' title='Delete this post' /></a> I get absolutely nothing out of this. The confirm box pops up, but a the URL never changes when I click OK. I have no clue what's going wrong here. I'm using Google Chrome to test this out if that helps. Also does not work in Firefox. Hi, I'm using the following Javascript code to show a div layer depending on the URL Code: <script type="text/javascript"> if (location.href.match(/folder/)) { document.getElementById("div-layer").style.display="block"; } </script> This works perfectly when I visit http://www.domain.com/folder but I do not want it to match any subfolders beneath /folder, for example: http://www.domain.com/folder/sub-folder http://www.domain.com/folder/sub-folder2 etc. Does anyone know how I can modify the code to only match /folder or /folder/ and no subfolders beneath it? Thank you in advance. What are the differences between results of these two. Code: window.location.hostname or Code: document.location.hostname I have the following JavaScript (see below). The script requests an XML file from the server and displays it on the page. The script works fine when the requested XML file is stored on the same server as the script. The problem is when I try requesting an XML file from an external server such as the National Weather Service. I get an error. If I take the XML file from the National Weather Service and save it to my server it works. Why can't I use my script to request XML files stored on external servers? Thanks in advance for any help. this.rowArr = row; this.myLoc = loc; { parent.B.document.close(); parent.B.document.open(); parent.B.document.write('<table id = "copyTable" border = "1">'); for(i=0; i<this.headerArr.length; i++) { parent.B.document.write('<tr><th>'); parent.B.document.write(this.headerArr[i]); parent.B.document.write('</th><td>'); parent.B.document.write(this.rowArr[i]); parent.B.document.write('</td></tr>'); } parent.B.document.write('</table>'); } } parent.B gets me FRAME2 and I want to either do: parent.this.myLoc parent.loc parent.myLoc but I havent had any luck with any of these. it is a javascript function any ideas? thanks! if location is a property of window object that returns a string and im appending .indexOf() to location why is it not working?
We list our branches on our webpage, but I want people to be able to search for the nearest ones. This is the form I built as a place holder... but I'm sure I need a "little something" to go along with it. ha ha ha. Code: <form class="login">   <label class="white"><b>Zip Code</b><br />   <input name="zip" type="text" maxlength="5" size="10"/> </label> <br /><br /> <label>   <input type="submit" name="submit" id="submit" value="Go!" class="btn" /> </label> </form> I would like to sort them in order of closest to furthest (or even just display the top 5)... where would I find something like that? I seem to be having a difficult time with my searches in google and otherwise. Anyone have any ideas? If you go to: http://ocmd.freehostia.com/tbb/ You'll see that when the user presses enter, it goes to another page. Currently, in the scripts part of my page is this: Code: function checkKey() { if (window.event.keyCode == 13) { var audioElement = document.createElement('audio'); audioElement.setAttribute('src', 'horse.ogg'); audioElement.play(); window.location = "google.html"; return false; } } Notice how I'm trying to play an audio file? Well, I need for the window.location to go after the audio file plays, or alternatively for it to be played after xx milliseconds. Thank-you. Can someone tell me how to change the following code so that it will open in a new window? (like target="_blank" in html) Code: if (phone_num=="1234") document.location="http://mysite/formgov/makeadifference.html"; I have searched for hours trying to find a solution and have tried many things, nothing has worked. The example shown above is just one of many urls that I want to change. Any help would be appreciated. Maybe this is not possible. I know nothing about javascript. Can someone see a difference between: <input type="submit" name="Submit" value="Start" onClick="javascript:location.href='Poll_Jan2010_01.html'"> and: <input type="submit" name="Submit" value="Next >" onClick="javascript:location.href='Poll_Jan2010_02.html'"> ??? Because the first works, but the second doesnt :/ All i wanna do is move on to the next page by clicking a submit button. From the first page it moves to second correctly. After that, it only refreshes the page and doesnt move on... Sorry my bad, but im stuck again. I have tried to search in hours, but i cant find the answer. I think you the pro coders will see the code directly. I have an webbpage, and in the middle of it there is an iframe to a php site. So i have used this code, so after some seconds the iframe will send the guest to another page. <meta http-equiv="refresh" traget="_top" content="5 url=http://mypage.com"/> But the thing is that i want the WHOLE page to reload, and go to that page after 5 seconds (we can say). With that code, only the iframe are going to another page. Is it possible to make the whole page send the user after some seconds, to another page and not only the iframe? |
