JavaScript - Javascript Works But Produces Error Reports.
The following piece of code produces errors and will not validate at W3 validator.. It can be seen in action here.

Similar TutorialsValidator (My CSE HTML Validator v9.0 ) reports javascript errors but program runs. There seems to be a problem with commands used twice and a missing semi-colon. Also there are problems with Firefox. Unable to reselect another image. OK with IE8. I would appreciate it if someone with better eyesight than me could give the jscript a once over for me. I have attached the menu.js file, two style sheets (one for IE, the other for all browsers, css code for menu is at the end), and a body.html file that calls the menu. Of course these are uploaded as text files, but please feel free to rename and run the body file! The IE error states that it's looking for an object after the script tag on line 18 of the body file that creates menu settings. What is wrong with this line, and how can I fix it? The offending line is the long innerHTML one. I'm sure this must be a very hacky way of doing things (incidentally the thing is replacing an image with another image or video depending on what is clicked), but I rarely code at all, so don't know any better Thanks! However when I type wrong it works the first time, displays alert and returns to entry form. on second attempt type in wrong again, expected to see alert and return to entry form but it submits. Set up is I have a HTML page with one javascript check function at present for test development. It is linked to a servlet in tomcat. Problem is when I enter wrong the first time, get alert message and it returns to the HTML orginal page. However if I click on entry field and enter wrong again. I have know much about javascript, but the code above works fine in safari and firefox but not IE. it's for a popup, when you click a link it blankets the page and theres a popup window. here's other parts of supporting css/php Code:

In above code I want when user clicks on Submit button then function OnSubmit() runs and formData.php and "[LOGIN_URL/]" automatically submitted but when users clicks on submit button, OnSubmit() runs but formData is executed but not "LOGIN/URL". Even it not give any errors like ""LOGIN/URL" file not found" etc. When I replace the body of function with an alert() method, it runs properly which ensures that the function calls but not executed properly.
