I need to get this script to work, I only included what im having the problem with. I am Using jQuery Library. Here is how this should work: .btnRoof div is clicked the parent id is retrieved as var pid a function called roof is called which simply changes a css background to "color" the function perform is called to get the "color1[0]" from the array. My Problem: perform() returns the word color1, color10, color1[0], or c. instead of images/cp-roof-blue.png as listed in the array. Code: $(document).ready(function() { var color1=new Array(); color1[0]="images/cp-roof-blue.png"; color1[1]="images/cp-panel-blue.png"; color1[2]="images/cp-trim-blue.png"; function perform(name, x) { alert(name[x]); //alert([name][x]); //alert(name+'['+x+']'); //alert(color1[0]); // correct return name[x]; } function Roof(color) { $("#colorPicker .roof").css("background", "url("+color+")"); } $('.btnRoof').click(function() { var pid = $(this).parent().parent().attr("id"); Roof(perform(pid, 0)); }); }); I tried to clarify as much as possible, please let me know if I need explain further. I'm trying to reach an install page that is located in the directory, but anytime I go to a page outside of the site navigation (i.e. part of site navigation: About Us works fine, versus a page outside of site navigation: peachbasketonline.com/anythingelse) it automatically takes you back to the home page. Is there enough info here for someone to tell me if javascript is doing this? I just don't know what I'm looking for. i have this line of code: Code: <a href="#" id="profilelink" name="link2" onClick="viewornot(<?php echo $freechat_id ?>)"><?php echo $freechat_list; ?></a> //call the JS onclick and if OK was click do the message box and send button here then i have my JS: Code: function viewornot(id) { var e = confirm('Do you want to view this profile?'); if (e == true) { window.location.href = "http://www-rainbowcode-net/apps_dev.php/profiles/showprofilepersonal?id="+id; window.location('http://www-rainbowcode-net/apps_dev.php/profiles/showprofilepersonal?id='+id); return true; } else { var e2 = confirm('Do you want to send a message?'); if (e2 == true) { //if ok was clicked send value back?? return e2; } } } on the e2 confirm: if i clicked OK how can i send a value back(so that i know OK was clicked) so that i can then produce the message box and send button and do the rest of the code to send a message??? thank you Hello, I made a little code for my website but it doesn't work and I can't find out what the problem is. The problem is that the line return 2; does return undefined and not 2 as expected. I also tried to replace var xmlhttp2 = ''; for var xmlhttp2 = null; but it still not work. Does anyone know what is incorrect? Thanks in advance, PHP Code: function get_image(url) { var xmlhttp2 = ''; xmlhttp2=GetXmlHttpObject() xmlhttp2.onreadystatechange=function() { if (xmlhttp2.readyState == 4) { return 2; } }; xmlhttp2.open("GET", 'image_print.php?url=' + url, true); xmlhttp2.send(null); //return output; } I tried to use the script to return the user to the previous page by clicking the link, and it did work, however, it would return me to the previous website I visited and not just the previous page within my site. Is there a way to override it by changing the code or is the code definitive? The code works as it is for the file upload, I just need to add something for the output, any suggestion? Edit: I just noticed that some previous part of the code is still the the part that changes the color of the button depending if the file is uploaded or not. Now I want those values to change depending on what file is uploaded. Hi, I've a Javascript function where i'm sending an return value. How do i capture this return value from HTML. My javascript func is as below: Code: function check() { var frm=document.forms.stream_selection sel_num = new Array(); Parr = new Array(); for(j=1;j<1000;j++) { if(frm[j] != null) { if(!frm[j].checked) { frm[0].checked=false } else { Parr.push(j); ParrStr=Parr.join(','); alert(Parr); } } } return(ParrStr); } My HTML call function is as below: Code: echo "<td><center><input name=\"sstreamname\" type=\"checkbox\" onclick=\"check():return true;\"></center></td></tr></font></center></tr></font></center>"; How do i get the value of ParrStr and transfer this to next form. I'm using PHP . Thanks, Ramki. Ok, guys. I'm new to JavaScript, so go easy. I'll be asking bunches of "dumb" questions for a while. 1st question, and the only one for now ... Say I have the following function: Code: function SwapValues(SwapVal1,SwapVal2) { TempSwapVal=SwapVal1; SwapVal1=SwapVal2; SwapVal2=TempSwapVal; } I don't care about the return value of the function itself, but I do need the new values of SwapVal1 and SwapVal2. In ASP when I do this, the values get returned. How do I get this to work in JS? I don't understand the logic of Break, Return False, Return True. It was never really covered in our college class, and I see everyone using it. I got an A in the class, if that 'proves' that I really tried to apply myself. NOTE: I understand what the function is doing. I just don't understand WHEN to use break, return false or return true if the the translator can determine the conditional statements. PHP Code: function submitForm(){ var ageSelected = false; for (var i=0; i<5; ++1){ if (document.forms[0].ageGroup[i].checked == true) { ageSelected = true; break; } } if (ageSelected == false){ window.alert("You must select your age group"); return false; } else return false; } if the the translator can determine the conditional statements, why not write it like this: PHP Code: function submitForm(){ var ageSelected = false; for (var i=0; i<5; ++1){ if (document.forms[0].ageGroup[i].checked == true) { ageSelected = true; break; // what's the point for the 'break'? Won't the rest of the code be ignored since it passed the first condition? } } if (ageSelected == false){ window.alert("You must select your age group"); return false; } // why not leave the last else out? is it just a 'safety' catch, in case something other than true or false is inputted? else return false; // what's the point? } Questions: Why use return true, if the translator knows it's ture? Why use "return false" if the translator knows it's false and the alert window has already gone up? why not use "break" to stop the code? Why use the "return false" at the end "else" statement? Hi all, Please keep in mind: this is the first code I have ever written -- much of it with help from this forum and the skeleton from other corners of the JS community. Thanks! But now for the problem... I'm developing am income tax calculator, and everything is going swell. Currently the user can type in their adjusted gross income (AGI), hit submit, and learn the amount of income tax they would pay, their tax rate, and their income after tax. I've played around with the events to get the submit button to work in FF, IE, Chrome and Safari -- and I've gotten the enter button to work before with some stock code, but here's the catch: when the user presses enter, i want the focus to leave the input box. I don't care where it goes (submit button, I suppose?) but i need it to leave the input field so the onfocus="clearText(this);" event can fire when they return to type in a new income. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Code: <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> function TotalGrossPerYear() { var Calc = document.NetIncome; if (Calc.InputRad[0].checked) { if ((Calc.AGI.value > 500000)) { Bracket3(); } if ((Calc.AGI.value > 200000 ) && (Calc.AGI.value <= 500000)) { Bracket1(); } if ((Calc.AGI.value <= 200000)) { Bracket2(); } } else if (Calc.InputRad[1].checked) { if ((Calc.AGI.value > 1000000)) { Bracket3(); } if ((Calc.AGI.value > 400000 ) && (Calc.AGI.value <= 1000000)) { Bracket1(); } if ((Calc.AGI.value <= 400000)) { Bracket2(); } } } function Bracket1() { var Calc = document.NetIncome; if (Calc.InputRad[0].checked) { Calc.TaxableIncome.value = (parseFloat(Calc.AGI.value) - 200000) ; Calc.AmtDue.value = Math.round((parseFloat(Calc.TaxableIncome.value) * 0.05)) ; Calc.AmtLeft.value = (parseFloat(Calc.AGI.value) - parseFloat(Calc.AmtDue.value)) ; Calc.TaxRate.value = (parseFloat(Calc.AmtDue.value) / parseFloat(Calc.AGI.value) * 100).toFixed(2) + " %"; } else { if (Calc.InputRad[1].checked) { Calc.TaxableIncome.value = (parseFloat(Calc.AGI.value) - 400000) ; Calc.AmtDue.value = Math.round((parseFloat(Calc.TaxableIncome.value) * .05)) ; Calc.AmtLeft.value = (parseFloat(Calc.AGI.value) - parseFloat(Calc.AmtDue.value)) ; Calc.TaxRate.value = (parseFloat(Calc.AmtDue.value) / parseFloat(Calc.AGI.value) * 100).toFixed(2) + " %"; } } } function Bracket2() { var Calc = document.NetIncome; if (Calc.InputRad[0].checked) { Calc.TaxableIncome.value = 0 ; Calc.AmtDue.value = Math.round((parseFloat(Calc.TaxableIncome.value) * 0.05)) ; Calc.AmtLeft.value = (parseFloat(Calc.AGI.value) - parseFloat(Calc.AmtDue.value)) ; Calc.TaxRate.value = (parseFloat(Calc.AmtDue.value) / parseFloat(Calc.AGI.value) * 100).toFixed(2) + " %"; } else { if (Calc.InputRad[1].checked) { Calc.TaxableIncome.value = 0 ; Calc.AmtDue.value = Math.round((parseFloat(Calc.TaxableIncome.value) * 0.05)) ; Calc.AmtLeft.value = (parseFloat(Calc.AGI.value) - parseFloat(Calc.AmtDue.value)) ; Calc.TaxRate.value = (parseFloat(Calc.AmtDue.value) / parseFloat(Calc.AGI.value) * 100).toFixed(2) + " %"; } } } function Bracket3() { var Calc = document.NetIncome; if (Calc.InputRad[0].checked) { Calc.TaxableIncome.value = (parseFloat(Calc.AGI.value) - 200000) ; Calc.AmtDue.value = Math.round((parseFloat(Calc.TaxableIncome.value) - 300000) * 0.09) + (300000 * 0.05) ; Calc.AmtLeft.value = (parseFloat(Calc.AGI.value) - parseFloat(Calc.AmtDue.value)) ; Calc.TaxRate.value = (parseFloat(Calc.AmtDue.value) / parseFloat(Calc.AGI.value) * 100).toFixed(2) + " %"; } else { if (Calc.InputRad[1].checked) { Calc.TaxableIncome.value = (parseFloat(Calc.AGI.value) - 400000) ; Calc.AmtDue.value = Math.round((parseFloat(Calc.TaxableIncome.value) - 600000) * .09) + (600000 * 0.05) ; Calc.AmtLeft.value = (parseFloat(Calc.AGI.value) - parseFloat(Calc.AmtDue.value)) ; Calc.TaxRate.value = (parseFloat(Calc.AmtDue.value) / parseFloat(Calc.AGI.value) * 100).toFixed(2) + " %"; } } } function Couple() { var Calc = document.NetIncome; Calc.AGI.value = ""; Calc.TaxableIncome.value = "--------"; Calc.AmtDue.value = "--------"; Calc.AmtLeft.value = "--------"; Calc.TaxRate.value = "--------"; } function Individual() { var Calc = document.NetIncome; Calc.AGI.value = ""; Calc.TaxableIncome.value = "--------"; Calc.AmtDue.value = "--------"; Calc.AmtLeft.value = "--------"; Calc.TaxRate.value = "--------"; } function clearText(thefield){ if (thefield.value==thefield.value) thefield.value = "" } </script> </head> and the html... I'm am having the hardest time understanding "return false" and "return true". Could someone step me through this via interpreting this code (in bold typeface): Code: var DefaultValue = 'Search'; function clearSearch() { if (document.searchForm.q.value == DefaultValue) { document.searchForm.q.value = ''; } } function validateSearchHeader() { if ( document.searchForm.q.value == '' || document.searchForm.q.value.toLocaleLowerCase() == DefaultValue.toLocaleLowerCase() ) { alert('Please enter at least one keyword in the Search box.'); document.searchForm.q.focus(); return false; } return true; } Thanks! I am working on a page where the user will select a location from a dynamically generated dropdown list. I was able to create the php multidimensional array (tested and working) from a MySql database using the users information at login, but I'm having problems converting it to a javascript multidimensional array. I need to be able to access variables that I can pass to a number of text fields within an html form. For instance, if a user belongs to a company with multiple addresses, I need to be able to let them select the address they need to prepopulate specific text fields. php array creation: Code: if ($row_locations) { while ($row_locations = mysql_fetch_assoc($locations)) { $mail[$row_locations['comp_id']]=array('mailto'=>$row_locations['mailto'], 'madd'=>$row_locations['madd'], 'madd2'=>$row_locations['madd2'], 'mcity'=>$row_locations['mcity'], 'mstate'=>$row_locations['mstate'], 'mzip'=>$row_locations['mzip'], 'billto'=>$row_locations['billto'], 'badd'=>$row_locations['badd'], 'badd2'=>$row_locations['badd2'], 'bcity'=>$row_locations['bcity'], 'bstate'=>$row_locations['bstate'], 'bzip'=>$row_locations['bzip']); } } javascript function - this should create the array and send variables to text fields. Code: function updateAddress() { var mail = $.parseJSON(<?php print json_encode(json_encode($mail)); ?>); { if (comp_id in mail) { document.getElementById('mailto').value=mail.comp_id.mailto.value; document.getElementById('madd').value=mail.comp_id.madd.value; document.getElementById('madd2').value=mail.comp_id.madd2.value; document.getElementById('mcity').value=mail.comp_id.mcity.value; document.getElementById('mstate').value=mail.comp_id.mstate.value; document.getElementById('mzip').value=mail.comp_id.mzip.value; } else { document.getElementById('mailto').value=''; document.getElementById('madd').value=''; document.getElementById('madd2').value=''; document.getElementById('mcity').value=''; document.getElementById('mstate').value=''; document.getElementById('mzip').value=''; } } } Where is this breaking? Thanks in advance. I am pretty novice. I do not know much about the compilers or how these things run. I do however have a good eye for trends and can figure just about anything out by looking at it. With that; I have a game that uses a exe launcher with a built in patcher. I have found the code for the launcher. There are several "jquery" scripts for basic components like scroll wheel. There are also things like "downloader.js", "inputs.js". I am interested in seeing what (and more precisely how many) ip addresses are being retrieved. I fear this patcher is using a hidden bittorrent like download system. The code for "downloader" is pretty basic. It clearly uses some other script, but I am wondering if you can point me in the direction of a utility to monitor running JS so that I can see what is being returned. Code: _Downloader = function() { this.downloadStatusCallback = null; } _Downloader.prototype = { setDownloadStatusCallback: function(callback) { this.downloadStatusCallback = callback; }, addDownload: function(downloadName, metaUrl, outputPath, authorizationURL) // returns bool { return document.SSNLauncher.SSNLauncher_ReturnBool('addDownload', 'string:' + downloadName + '|' + 'string:' + metaUrl + '|' + 'string:' + outputPath + '|' + 'string:' + authorizationURL + '|'); }, removeDownload: function(downloadName) // returns bool { return document.SSNLauncher.SSNLauncher_ReturnBool('removeDownload', 'string:' + downloadName + '|'); }, getDownloadOption: function(downloadName, optionName) // returns string { return document.SSNLauncher.SSNLauncher_ReturnString('getDownloadOption', 'string:' + downloadName + '|' + 'string:' + optionName + '|'); }, setDownloadOptions: function(downloadName, enableBitSources, enableWebSources) // returns bool { return document.SSNLauncher.SSNLauncher_ReturnBool('setDownloadOptions', 'string:' + downloadName + '|' + 'bool:' + enableBitSources + '|' + 'bool:' + enableWebSources + '|'); }, getDownloadActive: function(downloadName) // returns bool { return document.SSNLauncher.SSNLauncher_ReturnBool('getDownloadActive', 'string:' + downloadName + '|'); }, setDownloadActive: function(downloadName, active) // returns bool { return document.SSNLauncher.SSNLauncher_ReturnBool('setDownloadActive', 'string:' + downloadName + '|' + 'bool:' + active + '|'); } } function __Downloader_reportdownloadStatus(downloadName, state, active, totalBytes, bytesLeft, maxIncoming, averageIncoming, currentIncoming, maxOutgoing, averageOutgoing, currentOutgoing, bytesRead, bytesSent, scanBytesLeft) { if (SSN.Downloader.downloadStatusCallback != null) { SSN.Downloader.downloadStatusCallback(downloadName, state, active, totalBytes, bytesLeft, maxIncoming, averageIncoming, currentIncoming, maxOutgoing, averageOutgoing, currentOutgoing, bytesRead, bytesSent, scanBytesLeft); } } I have tried on several occasions to teach myself programing. I can get the commands and syntax fairly easily, and I am pretty good at 'coming up' with ways to get something done. I just don't have experience in this field (I'm in medical school) so I do not know about the tools and utilities programers use and scouring the internet has been less than fruitful. Anybody capable of pointing me in the direction of finding a utility to monitor running js (if that is even possible =/). I use dreamweaver CS5 to explore js code. Hi, Here is a working code to copy 2d php array to 2d javascript array. Code: <html> <head> <?php for($i = 0; $i < 3; $i++) { for($j = 0; $j < 2; $j++) {$quest[$i][$j] = $i*10+$j;} } ?> <script type="text/javascript"> var questions = new Array(3); for (var i = 0; i < 3; i++) { questions[i] = new Array(2); } questions[0] = ["<?php echo join("\", \"", $quest[0]); ?>"]; questions[1] = ["<?php echo join("\", \"", $quest[1]); ?>"]; questions[2] = ["<?php echo join("\", \"", $quest[2]); ?>"]; document.write(questions[0][0] + "<br />"); document.write(questions[0][1] + "<br />"); document.write(questions[1][0] + "<br />"); document.write(questions[1][1] + "<br />"); document.write(questions[2][0] + "<br />"); document.write(questions[2][1] + "<br />"); </script> </head> </html> Now,here's the thing.Notice these lines in the code questions[0] = ["<?php echo join("\", \"", $quest[0]); ?>"]; questions[1] = ["<?php echo join("\", \"", $quest[1]); ?>"]; questions[2] = ["<?php echo join("\", \"", $quest[2]); ?>"]; I would like to put these lines in a loop, something like for (var i = 0; i < 3; i++) { questions[i] = ["<?php echo join("\", \"", $quest[i]); ?>"]; } But even after a lot of efforts I am unable to do so,what am I doing wrong? Thanks Hi, In a nutshell, can anyone tell me how to copy a 2d (two dimensional ,2 dimensional) php array to 2d javascript array?I would be obliged if anyone can provide me a method of doing that OR I have written a code to copy a 2d php array to a 2d javascript array. It is working but there is one problem(please see the following). Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong here? The 2d php array is $quest[100][6] and the 2d javascript array is questions[100][6] . I have written the javascript code inside the <?php....?> itself using echo "<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">.......</script>; Now ,inside the javascript, when I try to copy the 2d php array to the 2d javascript array using the following method it works questions[0]= ["<?php echo join("\", \"", $quest[0]); ?>"]; questions[1]= ["<?php echo join("\", \"", $quest[1]); ?>"]; ... and so on However, if I try to do the same using the following method it does not work for (var i= 0; i <= 99; i++) { questions[i]= ["<?php echo join("\", \"", $quest[i]); ?>"]; } Why is that? What mistake am I making?Any help will be deeply appreciated. Thanks -----------------------------THE CODE------------------------------------ <?php Access database and store result of mysq_query in $result....... $result = mysql_query($query); for ( $count = 0; $count <= 99; $count++) { $quest[$count]=mysql_fetch_array($result,MYSQL_NUM);; } echo "<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> var questions = new Array(100); for (var i = 0; i <100; i++) { questions[i] = new Array(6); } /*The following method of copying 2d php array to 2d javascript array is not working for ( var i = 0; i <= 99; i++) { questions[i]= ["<?php echo join("\", \"", $quest[i]); ?>"]; } */ /*The following method ,however,is working*/ questions[0]= ["<?php echo join("\", \"", $quest[0]); ?>"]; questions[1] = ["<?php echo join("\", \"",$quest[1]); ?>"]; questions[2] = ["<?php echo join("\", \"",$quest[2]); ?>"]; ....and so on </script>"; mysql_close($db_server); ?> |
