JavaScript - Javascript $_post Type Array??
php has the $_POST GLOBAL that contains an array of all the POST form variables. Does Javascript contain something similar built in?
Similar TutorialsI wrote js functions to reset a php form (multiple questions). The below works: Code: function resetForm(){ resetGroup(document.forms[0].answer1); resetGroup(document.forms[0].answer2); } Answer1 and answer2 are the elements of $_POST array. (<input name="answer1"> in php). In this example, I tried with only two questions, but I have up to 35 questions in one form. Instead of writing the above resetGroup() 35 times, I want to for-loop it. I tried Code: function resetForm(){ for (var i=1; i<3; i++){ resetGroup(document.forms[0]."answer"+i); } That didn't work. Could someone help me to make the loop work? Or would someone have better or simpler idea? Thanks. What type of variable is an empty array element? i thought it was undefined, but i noticed that they have different behavior than undefined does: Code: var r=Array(1); var s=r.concat([0,"",null,undefined]); alert (s.toSource()) //==="[, 0, "", null, (void 0)]" typeof s[0] //==="undefined" typeof s[4] //==="undefined" as you can see, 0 and 4 both === undefined. yet, they don't have the same toSource()... why? is this special type named anything specific? or more importantly, can it be detected outside of an array as being distinct from undefined? EDIT: im thinking this would be the same type as ({}).nonProp ... i guess the question is actually, "can you tell the difference between uninitialized and undefined"? I have created a form with javascript embedded to dynamically assign value to
Code: document.myForm.myTextBox.value based on user inputs, and when submitting the form, the targeted php file will process the data and records them in MySQL. The problem is that the value of myTextBox remains 'null' even when the javascript assigns a value to it (and it is visible in the form). Here is the code of the javascript: Code: document.register.street.value = http.responseText.split('^')[0]; document.register.city.value = http.responseText.split('^')[1]; document.register.street.disabled = true; document.register.city.disabled = true; To prevent user-mistyping, the textbox will be disabled after the value is set. I tried to search but I found it is very difficult when I don't even know what key word to use to describe this issue. I hope anyone can help me with this here, and thanks for any inputs. Hi, I have a form in which I preset some text inside a readonly, disabled textarea using javascript ('data' being the text): document.getElementById("link_of_current_view2").value = data; However, once I call my .php script to process the form, the element is null. How do I get it to pass along that data, which is in the textbox when the user views the form? Code: <div id="sendlink" class="contact_form" style="z-index:10;"> <a class="close" onclick="document.sendlink_form.reset();return false">CLOSE</a> <form id='sendlink_form' name='sendlink_form' method="post" action="sendlink.php" > <label for="link_of_current_view2">Link: </label> <textarea id="link_of_current_view2" name="_of_current_view2" class="link_of_current_view" rows="2" disabled="disabled" wrap="soft" size="58" value="" readonly="readonly" value=/></textarea> <input type="image" src="images/forms/submit.png" value="Submit" alt="Submit"> <a onclick="javascript:reset_sendlink()" style="cursor:pointer"><img src="images/forms/reset.png"></a> </div> Thanks for reading! So that the displayed content changes depending on what tab or button the user clicks on? That's not quite the same thing as what is normally called a navigation menu, where more often then not you are using the menu to get to ANOTHER html page. hello, I have a form which contains multiple inputs with type 'text' and 'radio' buttons, and i'm trying to validate all these fields using javascript. I am working on a page where the user will select a location from a dynamically generated dropdown list. I was able to create the php multidimensional array (tested and working) from a MySql database using the users information at login, but I'm having problems converting it to a javascript multidimensional array. I need to be able to access variables that I can pass to a number of text fields within an html form. For instance, if a user belongs to a company with multiple addresses, I need to be able to let them select the address they need to prepopulate specific text fields. php array creation: Code: if ($row_locations) { while ($row_locations = mysql_fetch_assoc($locations)) { $mail[$row_locations['comp_id']]=array('mailto'=>$row_locations['mailto'], 'madd'=>$row_locations['madd'], 'madd2'=>$row_locations['madd2'], 'mcity'=>$row_locations['mcity'], 'mstate'=>$row_locations['mstate'], 'mzip'=>$row_locations['mzip'], 'billto'=>$row_locations['billto'], 'badd'=>$row_locations['badd'], 'badd2'=>$row_locations['badd2'], 'bcity'=>$row_locations['bcity'], 'bstate'=>$row_locations['bstate'], 'bzip'=>$row_locations['bzip']); } } javascript function - this should create the array and send variables to text fields. Code: function updateAddress() { var mail = $.parseJSON(<?php print json_encode(json_encode($mail)); ?>); { if (comp_id in mail) { document.getElementById('mailto').value=mail.comp_id.mailto.value; document.getElementById('madd').value=mail.comp_id.madd.value; document.getElementById('madd2').value=mail.comp_id.madd2.value; document.getElementById('mcity').value=mail.comp_id.mcity.value; document.getElementById('mstate').value=mail.comp_id.mstate.value; document.getElementById('mzip').value=mail.comp_id.mzip.value; } else { document.getElementById('mailto').value=''; document.getElementById('madd').value=''; document.getElementById('madd2').value=''; document.getElementById('mcity').value=''; document.getElementById('mstate').value=''; document.getElementById('mzip').value=''; } } } Where is this breaking? Thanks in advance. suggestions welcome !!
I am trying to add a pulldown menu with a button to my website. I have successfully done this with a javascript I found online here to give credit: http://www.blazonry.com/javascript/js_menu.php I tried to modify the form so it will use an image file instead of the default button. To troubleshoot I took the relevant code and put into a seperate html file. This one is using the default code from the site referenced above. This is the page published online: http://www.keylimecomputerservice.com/test/default.html Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript"><!-- function openURL() { // grab index number of the selected option selInd = document.theForm.aaa.selectedIndex; // get value of the selected option goURL = document.theForm.aaa.options[selInd].value; // redirect browser to the grabbed value (here a URL) top.location.href = goURL; } //--> </SCRIPT> </head> <body> <TABLE SPAN="3" BORDER=1 CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 align="center" WIDTH="60%"> <TR> <TD WIDTH="33%"> <center><font color="black">Choose a connection</font></center><br> <form name="theForm"> <tt> <center> <select name="aaa" size="1"> <option selected value="#"> ---------- </option> <option value="/remote/connect1.exe">Connection 1</option> <option value="/remote/connect2.exe">Connection 2</option> <option value="/remote/connect3.exe">Connection 3</option> <option value="/remote/connect4.exe">Connection 4</option> <option value="/remote/connect5.exe">Connection 5</option> <option value="/remote/connect6.exe">Connection 6</option> <option value="/remote/connect7.exe">Connection 7</option> <option value="/remote/connect8.exe">Connection 8</option> </select> </center> </TD> <TD WIDTH="33%"> <input type="button" value=" GO " onClick="openURL()"> </tt> </form> </TD> <TD WIDTH="33%"> </TD> </TR> </TABLE> </body> I then tried to change the form to use an image instead of the default button. Obviously I didn't do it right. THIS ONE DOES NOT WORK. When you choose a menu item and then click the image, it just refreshes the page. Published page: http://www.keylimecomputerservice.co.../modified.html This is the modified code.: Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript"><!-- function openURL() { // grab index number of the selected option selInd = document.theForm.aaa.selectedIndex; // get value of the selected option goURL = document.theForm.aaa.options[selInd].value; // redirect browser to the grabbed value (here a URL) top.location.href = goURL; } //--> </SCRIPT> </head> <body> <TABLE SPAN="3" BORDER=1 CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 align="center"> <TR> <TD WIDTH="33%"> <center><font color="black">Choose a connection</font></center><br> <form name="theForm"> <tt> <center> <select name="aaa" size="1"> <option selected value="#"> ---------- </option> <option value="/remote/connect1.exe">Connection 1</option> <option value="/remote/connect2.exe">Connection 2</option> <option value="/remote/connect3.exe">Connection 3</option> <option value="/remote/connect4.exe">Connection 4</option> <option value="/remote/connect5.exe">Connection 5</option> <option value="/remote/connect6.exe">Connection 6</option> <option value="/remote/connect7.exe">Connection 7</option> <option value="/remote/connect8.exe">Connection 8</option> </select> </center> </TD> <TD WIDTH="33%"> <input type="image" src="connectbutton.jpg" onClick="openURL()"> </tt> </form> </TD> <TD WIDTH="33%"> </TD> </TR> </TABLE> </body> Any and all help is appreciated. Runout74 Hi, Here is a working code to copy 2d php array to 2d javascript array. Code: <html> <head> <?php for($i = 0; $i < 3; $i++) { for($j = 0; $j < 2; $j++) {$quest[$i][$j] = $i*10+$j;} } ?> <script type="text/javascript"> var questions = new Array(3); for (var i = 0; i < 3; i++) { questions[i] = new Array(2); } questions[0] = ["<?php echo join("\", \"", $quest[0]); ?>"]; questions[1] = ["<?php echo join("\", \"", $quest[1]); ?>"]; questions[2] = ["<?php echo join("\", \"", $quest[2]); ?>"]; document.write(questions[0][0] + "<br />"); document.write(questions[0][1] + "<br />"); document.write(questions[1][0] + "<br />"); document.write(questions[1][1] + "<br />"); document.write(questions[2][0] + "<br />"); document.write(questions[2][1] + "<br />"); </script> </head> </html> Now,here's the thing.Notice these lines in the code questions[0] = ["<?php echo join("\", \"", $quest[0]); ?>"]; questions[1] = ["<?php echo join("\", \"", $quest[1]); ?>"]; questions[2] = ["<?php echo join("\", \"", $quest[2]); ?>"]; I would like to put these lines in a loop,something like for (var i = 0; i < 3; i++) { questions[i] = ["<?php echo join("\", \"", $quest[i]); ?>"]; } But even after a lot of efforts I am unable to do so,what am I doing wrong?Thanks Hi, In a nutshell,can anyone tell me how to copy a 2d (two dimensional ,2 dimensional) php array to 2d javascript array?I would be obliged if anyone can provide me a method of doing that OR I have written a code to copy a 2d php array to a 2d javascript array.It is working but there is one problem(please see the following).Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong here? JS Code: ['asd1', 'asd2', 'asd3'] via Ajax => PHP PHP Code: array('asd1', 'asd2', 'asd3'); Hello hello, I have a javascript array to load a different picture each time a page loads up. The code is as follows: <script type="text/javascript"> var imageArray = new Array(); imageArray[0] = "images/animation9.gif"; imageArray[1] = "images/Title2.gif"; imageArray[2] = "images/animation4.gif"; function doIt() { var rand = Math.floor(Math.random()*3); var imgPath = "<img src='"+imageArray[rand]+"' alt='Welcome' border='0' align='absmiddle' />"; document.getElementById("image").innerHTML = imgPath; } </script> So...it works fine with .gifs, but how would I get it to work with .swf movies too? I've tried just putting the .swf in there e.g. ... 'imageArray[2] = "images/animation6.swf"; But that doesn't seem to work. Any ideas? Thank-you SO much in advance. |
