JavaScript - Can A Form Use Option To Add Text Fields?
Several posts here are almost what I need, but I can't put it all together.... thank you for your help, this is for a pet rescue charity!
When selecting "mini" option, my form should should only allow typing in 6 out of 10 text input fields (the first 3 on the front, and the first 3 on the back too if its selected). Other sizes would allow typing in all 10. The NAME must be the same due to the shoppingcart used, but ID can be different. Also, if mini the maxlength of each should be 14, other sizes each maxlength is different. I will try to put the relevant code below, but one entire form is he http://wooftags.com/bone-iframe.html Code: <select name="product1[]"> <option value="mini">mini</option> <option value="small">small</option> <option value="medium">medium</option> <option value="large">large</option> </SELECT> <input type="text" name="product1[]2" size="14" maxlength="14" style='text-transform: uppercase;' onblur="this.value=this.value.toUpperCase()" /> <br /> <input type="text" name="product1[]2" size="18" maxlength="18" style='text-transform: uppercase;' onblur="this.value=this.value.toUpperCase()" /> <br /> <input type="text" name="product1[]2" size="20" maxlength="20" style='text-transform: uppercase;' onblur="this.value=this.value.toUpperCase()" /> <br /> <input type="text" name="product1[]2" size="25" maxlength="25" style='text-transform: uppercase;' onblur="this.value=this.value.toUpperCase()" /> <br /> <input type="text" name="product1[]2" size="20" maxlength="20" style='text-transform: uppercase;' onblur="this.value=this.value.toUpperCase()" /> <INPUT TYPE="HIDDEN" NAME="price2" VALUE="1"> <input id="back1" type="text" name="product2[]2" size=14 maxlength=14 style='text-transform: uppercase;' onblur="this.value=this.value.toUpperCase()" disabled="disabled"/> <br /> <input id="back2" type="text" name="product2[]2" size=18 maxlength=18 style='text-transform: uppercase;' onblur="this.value=this.value.toUpperCase()" disabled="disabled"/> <br /> <input id="back3" type="text" name="product2[]2" size=20 maxlength=20 style='text-transform: uppercase;' onblur="this.value=this.value.toUpperCase()" disabled="disabled"/> <br /> <input id="back4" type="text" name="product2[]2" size=25 maxlength=25 style='text-transform: uppercase;' onblur="this.value=this.value.toUpperCase()" disabled="disabled"/> <br /> <input id="back5" type="text" name="product2[]2" size=20 maxlength=20 style='text-transform: uppercase;' onblur="this.value=this.value.toUpperCase()" disabled="disabled"/> Similar TutorialsHi. I need to fo a form and the content be sent to a database but i'm stuck... I knwo hot to do forms and also how to send data to mysql using php. But now i need something a bit more complex and i'm stuck. I need to make a form lets say with "parent name, age, child name, child age" Some people has 1 child some people has 2 3 4...and i need to have it separated and not just write like "joe, bob, jack" in the same line. How can i do this? And how should the database be structured? i can't put "id, parent, age, c_name, c_age" because some ppl will need to have more than 1 child in the database. Don't know what to do I am working on a page where the user will select a location from a dynamically generated dropdown list. I was able to create the php multidimensional array (tested and working) from a MySql database using the users information at login, but I'm having problems converting it to a javascript multidimensional array. I need to be able to access variables that I can pass to a number of text fields within an html form. For instance, if a user belongs to a company with multiple addresses, I need to be able to let them select the address they need to prepopulate specific text fields. php array creation: Code: if ($row_locations) { while ($row_locations = mysql_fetch_assoc($locations)) { $mail[$row_locations['comp_id']]=array('mailto'=>$row_locations['mailto'], 'madd'=>$row_locations['madd'], 'madd2'=>$row_locations['madd2'], 'mcity'=>$row_locations['mcity'], 'mstate'=>$row_locations['mstate'], 'mzip'=>$row_locations['mzip'], 'billto'=>$row_locations['billto'], 'badd'=>$row_locations['badd'], 'badd2'=>$row_locations['badd2'], 'bcity'=>$row_locations['bcity'], 'bstate'=>$row_locations['bstate'], 'bzip'=>$row_locations['bzip']); } } javascript function - this should create the array and send variables to text fields. Code: function updateAddress() { var mail = $.parseJSON(<?php print json_encode(json_encode($mail)); ?>); { if (comp_id in mail) { document.getElementById('mailto').value=mail.comp_id.mailto.value; document.getElementById('madd').value=mail.comp_id.madd.value; document.getElementById('madd2').value=mail.comp_id.madd2.value; document.getElementById('mcity').value=mail.comp_id.mcity.value; document.getElementById('mstate').value=mail.comp_id.mstate.value; document.getElementById('mzip').value=mail.comp_id.mzip.value; } else { document.getElementById('mailto').value=''; document.getElementById('madd').value=''; document.getElementById('madd2').value=''; document.getElementById('mcity').value=''; document.getElementById('mstate').value=''; document.getElementById('mzip').value=''; } } } Where is this breaking? Thanks in advance. I have a select box with a few options. When the page loads I need to get the selected option in this select box and alert its inner text. Yet everything I try out on the net that should work wont work in IE, all other browser its fine. Please can someone show me the TRUE and correct way to get the inner text of a option from a select box in IE? Thanks! Hi, I have a working contact form with 3 of the fields requiring validation and they work well. I have added extra fields to the form (StatusClass, Project, CameFrom). These 3 fields return fine but I need to validated them. My problem is that the new fields don't show in the behaviours/validate panel even though they are within the form tag. Can anyone give me any help and advice as to how to accomplish this? Many thanks Code below.... Code: <script type="text/JavaScript"> <!-- function MM_findObj(n, d) { //v4.01 var p,i,x; if(!d) d=document; if((p=n.indexOf("?"))>0&&parent.frames.length) { d=parent.frames[n.substring(p+1)].document; n=n.substring(0,p);} if(!(x=d[n])&&d.all) x=d.all[n]; for (i=0;!x&&i<d.forms.length;i++) x=d.forms[i][n]; for(i=0;!x&&d.layers&&i<d.layers.length;i++) x=MM_findObj(n,d.layers[i].document); if(!x && d.getElementById) x=d.getElementById(n); return x; } function MM_validateForm() { //v4.0 var i,p,q,nm,test,num,min,max,errors='',args=MM_validateForm.arguments; for (i=0; i<(args.length-2); i+=3) { test=args[i+2]; val=MM_findObj(args[i]); if (val) { nm=val.name; if ((val=val.value)!="") { if (test.indexOf('isEmail')!=-1) { p=val.indexOf('@'); if (p<1 || p==(val.length-1)) errors+='- '+nm+' must contain an e-mail address.\n'; } else if (test!='R') { num = parseFloat(val); if (isNaN(val)) errors+='- '+nm+' must contain a number.\n'; if (test.indexOf('inRange') != -1) { p=test.indexOf(':'); min=test.substring(8,p); max=test.substring(p+1); if (num<min || max<num) errors+='- '+nm+' must contain a number between '+min+' and '+max+'.\n'; } } } else if (test.charAt(0) == 'R') errors += '- '+nm+' is required.\n'; } } if (errors) alert('The following error(s) occurred:\n'+errors); document.MM_returnValue = (errors == ''); } //--> </script > Code: <form action="contact_us.asp" method="post" name="contact" target="_parent" class="contentText" id="contact" onsubmit="MM_validateForm('FullName','','R','Telephone','','RisNum','Email','','RisEmail');return document.MM_returnValue"> <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="5" cellpadding="0"> <tr> <td width="54%" class="subHeader">Full Name* </td> <td width="46%" class="subHeader"><input name="FullName" type="text" id="FullName" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td class="subHeader">Company Name </td> <td class="subHeader"><input name="CompanyName" type="text" id="CompanyName" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td class="subHeader">Address</td> <td class="subHeader"><input name="Address1" type="text" id="Address1" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td class="subHeader"> </td> <td class="subHeader"><input name="Address2" type="text" id="Address2" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td class="subHeader"> </td> <td class="subHeader"><input name="Address3" type="text" id="Address3" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td class="subHeader">Postcode</td> <td class="subHeader"><input name="Postcode" type="text" id="Postcode" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td class="subHeader">Telephone Number* </td> <td class="subHeader"><input name="Telephone" type="text" id="Telephone" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td class="subHeader">Mobile Number </td> <td class="subHeader"><input name="Mobile" type="text" id="Mobile" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="25" class="subHeader">Email Address* </td> <td class="subHeader"><input name="Email" type="text" id="Email" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="30" class="subHeader">Status*</td> <td class="subHeader"><select name="StatusClass" id="StatusClass"> <option selected="selected">Please Choose</option> <option>Architect</option> <option>Interior Designer</option> <option>Private Client</option> <option>Student</option> <option>Trade Enquiry</option> </select> </td> </tr> <tr> <td height="23" class="subHeader">Project*</td> <td class="subHeader"><select name="Project" size="1" id="Project"> <option selected="selected">Please Choose</option> <option>Planning Stages</option> <option>New Build</option> <option>Refurbishment</option> <option>Barn Conversion</option> <option>No project - information only</option> </select> </td> </tr> <tr> <td height="37" class="subHeader">How did you hear about us?*</td> <td class="subHeader"><select name="CameFrom" size="1" id="CameFrom"> <option selected="selected">Please Choose</option> <option>Web Search</option> <option>Grand Designs</option> <option>Living Etc</option> <option>Home Building & Renovation</option> <option>Architect</option> <option>Friend/Family</option> <option>Magazine/Editorial</option> <option>Newspaper Article</option> <option>Trade Show/Exhibition</option> <option>Other</option> </select></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="24" class="subHeader">Brochure Request </td> <td class="subHeader"><input name="Brochure" type="checkbox" id="Brochure" value="checkbox" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td class="subHeader">Message</td> <td class="subHeader"><span class="style4"> <textarea name="Message" id="Message"></textarea> </span></td> </tr> <tr> <td class="subHeader"> </td> <td class="subHeader"><input name="Submit" type="submit" value="Submit" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" class="subHeader"><em>* Required fields</em></td> </tr> </table> </form> Hey guys..... I've worked out how to get the value from a select option tag, but can't work out how to get the text inside the option tags. Here is the code I am using to get the value attribute from the option tag.. PHP Code: // Set the search results box var cats = document.getElementById('cat_list'); // Loop through categories from the search results select box for (i = 0; i < cats.length; i++) { // Check if the cat is selected if (cats.childNodes[i].selected == true) { // Set this category's values to some variables var cat_id = cats.childNodes[i].getAttribute('value'); } } Thanks! Hi all ! I have written code for select options one. In that option one of the option is to select others. When i select others automatically the cursor should goto others text area box. Any help is greatly appreciated! What I'm having trouble with is doing the text verification. When a user selects an option from the select list they then need to type in the text area given. If the user doesn't type the word selected in the list then an error message should appear under the text area. If you look at my code you'll see that I have the text_check() function doing the verification. I can get it to work when there is only one option but once I add the other two it stops working. I've tried if... else and other variations, but can't seem to nail it down. Thanks! I have been studying php for a while now and i know that, i am now starting php oop and that going well but i have never done anything like this. Anway i am creating a booking system which at the end of the process asks who supplied your voucher which they then select a supplier. The issue i have is my client wants it so if groupon is selected then an input text box should appear so that the user can input a security code from groupon. So basically it is Code: <select name="supplier" id="supplier"> <option value="">please select supplier</option> <option value="Groupon">Groupon</option> <option value="KGB Deals">KGB Deals</option> <option value="Other">Other</option> </select> So if value="Groupon" then Code: <input type="text" name="security" id="security" /> should appear next to it. Could someone please help me as the page cant refresh as it will lose its data which would have taken the user about 10 minutes to fill out Thanks in advance I am no javascript expert, very much a beginner. I am trying to incorporate some into a web-based form. The problem is the button I created to add extra fields does not work, and I can't find exactly where the problem is. I'm in need of some help from a javascript guru. Help me enjoy my Friday afternoon by solving this! Hi to everyone, I'm kind of new to html/php/javascript but still I manage to create a nice looking form in wich the users have to fill some text fields and select items from drop list. But I now have a small problem. I need one of those text fields to be automaticly filled by the informations selected in 2 drop lists. This is how it would looks like : Machine-Name : __________ (empty text field) Drop-List1 : abc (the user selected the string "abc" from the list.) Machine-Name : abc- Drop-List 2 : zxy(the user selected the string "zxy" from the list.) Machine-Name : abc-zxy- I hope you understand what I mean. If needed, I can past those fields and list code, but I don't think that would be very useful since it is kind of trivial. So, in words, how would you guys proceed to achieve this goal? Code: <select id="Program" name="Program" size="1" onchange=" $other = document.getElementById('other_program').style; $invoice = document.getElementById('invoice'); if (selectedIndex==6) { $other.visibility='visible'; if ($invoice.value == 'General Fund') $invoice.value=''; } else { $other.visibility='hidden'; if (selectedIndex==1) { $invoice.value='Renegade Fund'; } else { $invoice.value='Please Specify'; } } "> <option selected="selected" value="Not Selected"> - - Select One - - </option> <option value="Athletics">Athletics</option> <option value="Drum Line">Drum Line</option> <option value="Renegade Fund">Renegade Fund</option> <option value="General Scholarships">General Scholarships</option> <option value="President's Circle">President's Circle</option> <option value="Other">Other</option> </select> <span id="other_program"><input type="text" id="invoice" name="invoice" size="15" /></span> <!-- the following is the new select group ive set up <span id="alumni"> <select id="select-alumni" name="select-alumni" size="1"> <option selected="selected" value="Not Selected">Yes or No</option> <option value="Yes-alumni">Yes</option> <option value="Not-alumni">No</option> </select> </span> --> Hi, i have this code that generate 10 rows with form fields: Code: <form> <?php for($i=1;$i<=10;$i++) {?> <div id="rowz-rep"> <div class="row1"><?=$i?></div> <div class="row2a"><input name="title[]" type="text" class="fieldSubmit"/></div> <div class="row3a"><input name="url[]" type="text" class="fieldSubmit"/></div> <div class="row4a"><select name="type[]" class="dropSubmit"><? foreach($allowed_types as $at) { echo '<option value="'.$at.'">'.$at.'</option>'; }?></select></div> </div> <? }?> </form> I need that onclick with JS add 10 more rows so i get something like Code: <?php for($i=1;$i<=20;$i++) {?> |
