JavaScript - Evaluate Drop-down Based On Text

Hi,
I was wondering if it's possible to capture a piece of HTML using XPath where the source is a sting rather than a document.

I know how to use xPath and document.evaluate() as I've used it before on actual web pages - I just dont understand how to run it on a string of HTML.

E.g. if I have this string:
var stg = "<div>The best-laid schemes o' <span>mice</span> an' men</div>";
I'd like to convert this string into something that I can run the document.evaluate() on so that I can find the contents of the SPAN element (without loading the string into a real browser page).

I am returning the present time - then using the .substr to remove all digits except the last two on the right (i.e effectively returning the value 32 from 65344532) I am then looping, subtracting 11 from that number until the value is less than 11. The intent being to then return the value from the appropriate matching array ID

I have an array sl1
sl1[0]; sl1[1]; sl1[2]; sl1[3]; sl1[4]; sl1[5];
sl1[6]; sl1[7]; sl1[8]; sl1[9]; sl1[10];

The problem arises with evaluating two digit numbers beginning with zero - In cases where the last two numbers are greater than 09, the looping returns a 1 digit number for valuse less than 10, in cases where the last two digits begin with zero the loop will not begin. I have attempted to use the switch(n) to determine if any 01, 02, 03 ... etc exists but this is not evaluating correctly - is this due to using the date/time object and if so is there a good way to convert this to either a numeric or string datatype where the case can be evaluated correctly? Hi Guys,

I am looking for a script to change text on a page based on the time of day. From 9am - 5pm weekdays I would like the page to display 'Open', and outside of that window to display 'Closed'. I am using HTML & PHP.

I want to insert text to a textarea based on the selected text. It should insert tags like the buttons for posting on this form work. Ie: If 'bar' is selected, and I click 'b', then I get:

Code:

Foo bar frog

becomes: Code:

Foo <b>bar</b> frog

I found some code that works for firefox, but I need it to work in explorer as well.

Do you have any ideas or examples how to do this?

Here's the code I'm currently using. ( Works right in ff3. In IE7 it appends the tags at the end of the text. I want it to insert based on my selection. )

I'm taking a beginning javascript class and have been trying to figure out one last part of a homework assignment and am just not seeing how to work it out. Any help is greatly appreciated!

What I'm having trouble with is doing the text verification. When a user selects an option from the select list they then need to type in the text area given. If the user doesn't type the word selected in the list then an error message should appear under the text area. If you look at my code you'll see that I have the text_check() function doing the verification. I can get it to work when there is only one option but once I add the other two it stops working. I've tried if... else and other variations, but can't seem to nail it down. Thanks!

I'm looking for help as I have the jCarouselLite feature functioning on my website and am looking for a way of displaying another image to the right of the carousel, dependent upon which image is visible in the carousel.

I toyed with the idea of implementing another snippet of JavaScript to swap the text to the right and manually synching the swap time wise, but quickly abandoned this idea for a number of reasons, particularly as the carousely has buttons to scroll through the images displaying.

I have to admit I'm not particularly great with JavaScript, but was thinking along the lines of another function that listens for the image that is displayed, but have no idea if am way off the mark, or even if this is the right track - no idea how to implement.

Any help would be very gratefully recieved.

except I need it to be dependent on the hour and minute.

Background:
I am trying to create a schedule website, the schedule has say 20 items and I want it to display the current "active" event in the schedule, 1 previous event and 3 future events so a total of 5 items from the schedule.

An event can range from 30 minutes to 2 hours long, so simply using the above code will not work. It needs to take the minutes into consideration as well.

I have a web page created using plsql web toolkit. I want to set the text box values for street line 2 and zip based on user selection in select drop down which is street line 1. The select drop down list is based on a cursor selecting data from the Oracle database. I'm not sure if I need to use an array in the javascript code or if I can set the values some where in my package. Any advice would be appreciated.

Is there a way to call javascript functions based on the text between a span element?

In other words if I have <span id="mySpan">Bronze</span> then it will call a javascript function but if I have <span id="mySpan">Silver</span> then it will call a different function?
