JavaScript - Looking For User Detail Detection Script! Can Anyone Help??
I'm looking for a javascript that will detect the following user information: OS version, browser version, quicktime + flash + adobe reader + java + windows media player + sliverlight versions of the users computer.
I am looking to put this script into an HTML page and the information be displayed so the user can see what versions of the programs they have. I don't know a whole lot about javascript so if there is a script i could copy and paste, that would be great!!!! Also, is it possible to have the current versions of these programs displayed and automatically updated as well so the user can compare the version they have with the most current version of the program? Any help would be great! Thanks!!! Similar Tutorialshi guys, i was wondering if anyone could help me. Ive been looking into the above and want to implement it on my site. I have created no flash pages and flash pages, but instead of creating a portal at the front of the site that leads you to a flash site and a no flash site id like to do it so the page detects flash or not, and redirects to whichever URL. Is this possible, or do multiple browsers cause problems ? cheers overImg=[];outImg=[]; outImg[0]=new Image();outImg[0].src="images/enter1.gif"; overImg[0]=new Image();overImg[0].src="images/enter2.gif"; outImg[1]=new Image();outImg[1].src="images/keio.gif"; overImg[1]=new Image();overImg[1].src="images/inria.gif"; function chgImg(img, type){ switch(type){ case "over":document.images[img].src=overImg[img].src;break; case "out":document.images[img].src=outImg[img].src;break; }} why are arrays used here ? I am building an elearning site where the user is taken through a series of dynamically driven pages to refine their choices. I am using php amd mysql to populate a series of tables but on the last page the table gets very long so i am trying to make the table expandable. I found this and this on http://www.javascripttoolbox.com/jquery/ and it's proving helpful but i need a little help taking it a step further. I also found this to be useful for anyone else who is trying to do the same thing: http://www.jankoatwarpspeed.com/post...nd-plugin.aspx FROM JAVASCRIPTTOOLBOX A common UI is to have a table of data rows, which when clicked on expand to show a detailed breakdown of "child" rows below the "parent" row. The only requirements a 1. Put a class of "parent" on each parent row (tr) 2. Give each parent row (tr) an id 3. Give each child row a class of "child-ID" where ID is the id of the parent tr that it belongs Original code: Code: $(function() { $('tr.parent') .css("cursor","pointer") .attr("title","Click to expand/collapse") .click(function(){ $(this).siblings('.child-'+this.id).toggle(); }); $('tr[@class^=child-]').hide().children('td'); }); This works great but my parent and child rows all contain checkboxes and If i try and check the checkboxes in the master rows the child rows associated with that master row expand and contract. I have added an extra cell to each row and i'm using a css class to add an arrow image to each master row but i am new to Javascript so i am not sure what i am doing. My code now looks like this: Code: $(document).ready(function() { $('tr:not(.parent)').hide(); //$('tr.parent') $('.arrow') .css("cursor","pointer") .attr("title","Click to expand/collapse") .click(function(){ $(this).siblings('.child-'+this.id).toggle(); $(this).toggleClass("up"); }); }); So far the arrow image is toggling but i can't seem to work out how to get the .click function to affect the whole row and not just the image. Can anybody help me? Thanks All, I have a script that runs some jQuery and appends it to a <div>. I only want this script executed if a user is using IE7 or higher since jQuery doesn't work with IE6. How can I do that? Also, if they aren't using IE7 or higher I don't wnat to display the <div> that the results go into. How would I go about doing this? Thanks! Hi, I am working on Salesforce.com application and want to have a standard button named "Save and Send Update" placed on Event object detail page to be hidden. I followed some sample codes shown on net utilising style.visibility/style.display attributes of Javascript. However, I am not able to still remove/hide the standard button. If anyone could please assist me in this, that would be great! Thanks, Vimal Hi Everyone, I want to execute a script when the user clicks the button. Currently in my html doc. i have the button declared. <input type="button" id ="button" onclick='notEmpty() value="Play"/> When the button is clicked, i execute the notEmpty() function and I want to execute a script inside the notEmpty(). How can i do this? Thanks, Praveen Hi there! I hope I posted this question in the right place. I've been working on a Spry Master/Detail region using Dreamweaver CS4 for months now and I just can't get it to work right. I know very little about coding Javascript; I'm altering a template from a tutorial book. Here's my problem: I want at least 2 master/detail regions on a single page, each nested in a spry tabbed panel, and each filtered by a non-destructive filter. I'm having all kinds of trouble getting this accomplished.I did some troubleshooting and have pinpointed exactly where things go wrong. First, I thought that the problem might be that both of my tables were on the same page as the master/detail regions, so I put them on their own pages. No problems there. Then I built one master/detail region, with selectable filter menu, in a spry tabbed panel. No problem. Then I started all over again, and built each master/detail region stepwise following the instructions in the book. The 2 master/detail regions, 1 in each tab, are no problem. Applying the non-destructive filter is where things get tricky for me. When I apply the non-destructive filters, all of the data from the first table disappears! The table in the 2nd tab still works perfectly. My 2 spry datasets are named rs_CasteAbilities and rs_ProfAbilities. Here's the code for just creating the 2 spry data sets: [CODE] var rs_CasteAbilities = new Spry.Data.HTMLDataSet("gacasteabilitiesforactivetable.php", "GA_CasteAbilities"); var rs_ProfAbility = new Spry.Data.HTMLDataSet("gaprofessionabilitiesforactivetable.php", "GA_ProfAbilities"); [CODE] No problems there. When I apply the nondestructive filter to the first spry dataset the first dataset filters just as it is supposed to and the second one does nothing, just as its supposed to. It looks like this: [CODE] var rs_CasteAbilities = new Spry.Data.HTMLDataSet("gacasteabilitiesforactivetable.php", "GA_CasteAbilities"); rs_CasteAbilities.gallery = '1'; function chooseSet(dataSet, row, rowNumber) { if (row == rs_CasteAbilities.gallery) { return row; } return null; } rs_CasteAbilities.filter(chooseSet); var rs_ProfAbility = new Spry.Data.HTMLDataSet("gaprofessionabilitiesforactivetable.php", "GA_ProfAbilities"); [CODE] The problem is that when I apply the same filter to the 2nd spry dataset, the 2nd dataset filters, but the first dataset totally disappears when I view the page (firefox and safari)! I can post screenshots if needed. Here's the code I'm using: [CODE] var rs_CasteAbilities = new Spry.Data.HTMLDataSet("gacasteabilitiesforactivetable.php", "GA_CasteAbilities"); rs_CasteAbilities.gallery = '1'; function chooseSet(dataSet, row, rowNumber) { if (row == rs_CasteAbilities.gallery) { return row; } return null; } rs_CasteAbilities.filter(chooseSet); var rs_ProfAbility = new Spry.Data.HTMLDataSet("gaprofessionabilitiesforactivetable.php", "GA_ProfAbilities"); rs_ProfAbility.gallery = '1'; function chooseSet(dataSet, row, rowNumber) { if (row == rs_ProfAbility.gallery) { return row; } return null; } rs_ProfAbility.filter(chooseSet); [CODE] This problem has been stumping me for weeks and I'm getting to the point where I need to get this done. I hope that in my inexperience, I was able to communicate this problem articulately. Please somebody help! Thanks so much to anyone who takes the time to help me out. Thank you. Clement Osei I doubt this is possible without third party applications. But I was wondering if there is a way to detect where the eyes are routhly in an image on someone face (which may have multiple faces). Basically I want to get the position of both eyes and se if they are horizontal or verticle. So then I can rotate the iimage if the eyes are more verticle then horizontal. I use the youtube javascript api. Now the users of my website can start the player with an imacro and the function player.playVideo(). Is it possible that I can detect or disable this funtion? Thanks Hey I am in need of some help with a hash removal detection code, currently I have everything I need to do what I want but when I click the back button and the hash is removed from the url I need to have a script run to then change the page content. My design looked sort of like this. Code: function detect() { var url = window.location; if(url.indexOf('#') === -1) { // run the code } } But that ran the code every time there wasn't any hash in the url so if a user went to lets say /index.php the page content would keep being re-generated as there isn't any hash, so my question is how can I make it so it only runs only if there has been a hash in the url and then has been removed so like if you went to /index.php and clicked a link that took you to /index.php#tags and then the page content was changed with ajax, then the user clicked the browsers back button to go back to /index.php, the page would still have the tags content on it so that's when I need the function to run to change it back again. If anyone can help with my problem please reply. Thank you - DJCMBear I have a website (www.andrewburns.net.au) that displays differently according to OS. Currently in OSX the text in the menu lines up with the image text of the site title - this is what we want to have happen and it looks fine across all browsers using OSX. However, in Windows it's offset by about 10px, and similarly displays the same offset in all Windows browsers incl Chrome, FF, Safari, and of course ie. I'm trying to use javascript to sniff out the OS and display alternate css accordingly. I'm not a JS coder at all and a friend who is has got me this far... Code: var isms=( navigator.appVersion.indexOf("Windows") != -1); document.write("Browser Version: " + isms); if(isms) $('DIV .menu').css('left','100px'); What I'm not sure about is where to put it to make it work given there is a fair amount of other scripts operating on the site. Is there anyone out there who can have a look at the site/source code and offer any insight/suggestions/solutions? I'd really appreciate it... I'm under a fair bit of pressure from the designer to get it pixel perfect and this is the last aspect of the site to sort out before I can sign it off. Thanks Good day! I have an intranet website that was in the server and it has a flash. My problem is the client computer has no flash installer; I want that they can access the flash.exe in the server so they can install it to their computer. I read some forum that it could happen using JavaScript detection code. Honestly I have no idea about it. Thank you Hey, I'm working on a mobile website and need some help with my mobile browser detection script. I have it working for iPhone, iPod Touch, and Windows Mobile Devices. I need help getting it to detect for Blackberry Browser (Blackberry Devices), Blazer Browser (Palm Devices), Opera Mini Browser, Opera Mobile Browser, and other mobile browsers if possible. Does anyone know how to modify (and test if you have a phone to test with, as I don't have all of these devices) this javascript?: Code: if((navigator.userAgent.match(/iPhone/i)) || (navigator.userAgent.match(/iPod/i))) {location.replace("mobile.html");} if((navigator.appVersion.indexOf("Windows CE")>0)) {location.replace("mobile.html");} Thanks for your help! -Chris Hi, How do I detect change event on textarea using javascript? I'm trying to detect any change, but without any type. For example, instead to have an "onclick submit button" to copy the contents of the textarea to another file, how it can be done automatically when focos is in? I've searched google on how to do this, and several websites recommend something similar to the code I'm implementing below: Code: <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> // in head function checkRefresh() { alert("BEFO value = " + document.getElementById("visited").getAttribute("value")); if (document.getElementById("visited").getAttribute("value") == null || document.getElementById("visited").getAttribute("value") == "") { document.getElementById("visited").setAttribute("value", "refreshed") } alert("AFTER: value = " + document.getElementById("visited").getAttribute("value")); } </script> ... <body onload="Javascript:checkRefresh();"> ... <form id="hiddenform"> <input type="hidden" id="visited" value="" /> </form> </body> My variation differs from most of the examples on the internet in a few ways (which may or may not affect its functionality): 1) Most examples access the elements by directly using their names (as in: document.hiddenForm.visited.value). I'm using document.getElementById(...).getAttribute(...) just because that seems to be the safest way to ensure you are in fact getting the elements you want, and setAttribute(...) to ensure you're setting the attribute in the proper way. This entails that I need to set the ID in the form and input elements rather than the name. 2) I'm accessing the input tag directly (rather than going through the form) because I really don't see how this would make a difference. 3) I'm doing all this within asp:content tags which, from what I understand, can affect the behavior of the elements within it. I'm not sure if this works out for other programmers, but for me it doesn't seem to be working. My alert messages in the checkRefresh function tell me that the value of the input element does indeed change as expected, but it seems to get wiped out and reinitialized to the original value of "" when the page is refreshed. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for any help. hey guys i'm making a lunar lander game using javascript.i want the player to land the spaceship on a black line i've drawn. but i have problems getting it right.when the player lands it properly in the line i want it to display a dialogue box which says u landed it perfectly.but the problem is even if i land it outside the line it gives me that message.so after spending sometime with it i figured out that my if statement is not working properly.it doesn't take the value from my x axis and only considers the value from my y axis.for eg lets say i drew the line from 560px to 600px on the x axis and its located at 700px on the y axis and this is my if statement if((TopPos>695)&&(rightPos>560)&&(rightPos<600)) { alert('you landed perfectly') } this is supposed to work but if i go above 600px but still maintains the height above 695 it says i have won.i have included the code could some point me out where i'm making the mistake thank you .
