JavaScript - External Third Party Js File Loading, Causing Site To Hang!!

Say I have a website, that I want to use an iframe with.

Would be possible, to use Javascript to change the logo image of an iframe of myspace (just for the example), to one on my site?

So switch the logo of myspace with one on my server?

The JS is in my heading as <script type="text/javascript" src="countdownpro.js"></script>

About mid-body I have: <span id="countdown1">2010-07-20 00:00:00 GMT+00:00</span> which allows for the setting of a target date to countdown to.

When the page first loads it shows the above long format target time, until the js/meta tags kick in to modify it to just show the actual countdown as 00:00:00.

I have attached countdownpro.js to this post. I tried shifting the function CD_Init() to the top of the script, and also appended it inline with the .html. I tried setting the big external script to "defer", but neither arrangement worked. I also tried placing the src file right at the top.

I appreciate your help.

Is their anyway to track right mouse click within an iframe that is linked to an external site (i.e. www.nbc.com)?

I'm trying to see if I can have a alert window say "This is an image" when i right click on an image within the iframe.

Hey guys. Is there any any ANY way to read highlighted text of in an iframe that is displaying an external server / site? Say you select some text in the iframe and click a button outside of the iframe that prints the selected text to a textbox?

Really really would love to do this or any ANY workaround. This really sucks that its a security measure by default that doesn't allow this!! Ugh!

First time on the forum and I am admittedly a complete noob, so forgive me for any grievous misconceptions.

I am a teacher trying to create a bulletin board on my website where students, teachers, and parents can post messages. I am trying to use the site linoit.com I am trying to embed that site on my website using an iframe url: http://www.capretto.net/stickyboard.shtml

My problem is that when you go to the message board on my site it asks your for a username and password to login to access my message board from linoit. I was hoping there is a scripts or other trick that will auto fill the username and password when the page loads so that the message board opens automatically.

Not too worried about privacy, but I could distribute the username and password to all interested parents, teachers, etc. but in my experience one more step between students and the information they need can be the difference between them not receiving the info.

I'd be happy to give any contributors credit on my site for their coding help. Thanks in advance.

I'm new to JavaScript and I'm having a bit of trouble understanding something that seems relatively simple. When I make changes to CSS in JavaScript using '.style' I'm changing the attribute values of inline CSS. Can I use JavaScript to change the attribute values of rules in an external CSS file? I have no CSS in my html and would like to know if I can grab the values of attributes in an external CSS file using JavaScript.

I'm fairly new to JavaScript. I learned PHP and now I'm creating a user registration and login system for an application I'm making and I decided I wanted to give JS a try.

I'm trying to make a form validation function that will be called when I press the submit button on the form but I want to use an external js file to store all my custom functions.

I have the OnClick event in the button with the call to my function inside of that. But where and how on the page to I reference my external file so that the button can call the function?

Hey guys, I currently have a flash header .swf file as the header in my webpage. Problem is, it's 300 KB so it loads after everything else has already
loaded, leaving a huge blank space where the .swf is suppossed to be until it finishes downloading. Is there a way I can tell my page to pre-load the .swf before everything
else so that all elements in my page look like they load at the same? For example, with images I can do something like this:

Is there something like this for .swf?

Is there a way to tell Javascript to load data or a php file the re-direct to that page?

Right now i have a script that will re-direct when a user comes to the page. It waits about 5 seconds to give it time. I wanted to know if there was a way to load it with JS or AJAX.

I need some help with a bit of a challenge.

I need to allow users to spesify a file stored on their hard drive, read the file and populate a table and eventually a database.

I can probably upload the file using <input type='file'> but what then? How do I access the file after this, or is there a better way? Using XMLHTTP gives 'access denied.....' I can not use PHP as the site does not support PHP. For those who know the environment - it's a QuickBase application I need to upload to.......

I wanted to ask how can I make an item from the list's to have a different css in the html with the loaded list's. because in each page one of the items (that are all buttons) will be up or should I say active.

can someone tell me how can I do this please. Maybe with javascript?

I have an issue with my javascript files loading (i.e. checking the source code of the page after having loaded yields working links to my external files and the JQuery loading for sure after running some test), but calling a function from my javascript file works in no way shape or form. For example, one test I was running was:
From my .js file

This will work on a standalone page when I test it (not loading from external .js file), but not in the page I need to get my scripts running on.
