JavaScript - Tell If User Typed Url Or Clicked A Link
I have no clue if this is in the correct forum but.... is there a way to determine whether a user clicked on a link vs typed in the url to get to a page? I'm trying to stop users from messing with GET forms (and i have to use them, POST wouldn't make sense in this case).
Thanks Similar TutorialsHi everyone! I need a little help with something. I have a page with several links that when clicked open a modal window. The same window for each link, with a form. However inside the form I need to print the id of the link that was clicked. Like so: <a href="#" id="1">Link 1</a> <a href="#" id="2">Link 2</a> <a href="#" id="3">Link 3</a> <form> ....somehow print/echo the id of the link... </form> Is this possible? Does anyone know how to do that? I'd appreciate any help! Hello I need to not publicly display phone number inside my website page (I use Joomla CMS). In fact the main goal is of course to be able to show the number but not to be crawled by search engine.. So in practice instead to see this: Phone: 013456789 I would like to see this: Phone: Click here for see the number By clicking on that link the number must be displayed... My website for display the phone field use this php code: Code: <?php echo $CustomFields->field('my_phone',$listing); ?> I asked in some forum and some people tell me is possible to customize this php code with javascript for let me hide/show the field value but I don't have a single idea how to do this because I'm not a programmer... I take a look in all javascript libraries but I don't find any javacript ready for use for let me implement it inside the php code... Anybody have a suggestion please ? many thank Sorry I am new to JavaScript. Says that a.html has two same anchor links (<a href="b.html">b</a>). The anchor links are uneditable but we could add JavaScript to the a.html. Except for dynamic adding onclick event, any other ways could get to know which anchor link being clicked? I have a WebHelp framework created by chmProcessor whereby index.htm calls frameset.html that references a left frame "treeFrame" and right frame "frameCont". The treeFrame has javascript to change the icons from selected to not selected and high light the selected topic. I have a need to have links in the right frame. And when I click on the link in the right frame, I want the right frame to display the topic but I also want the treeFrame navigation to open the navigation to the newly selected topic. How would I go about implementing this? In the tree.html, the tree navigation gets created with this code: Code: contentTree.create( document.getElementById( "contentsTree" ) , window.parent.document.getElementById( "frameCont" ) , window.parent.parent.location.href ); Here is the tree.js Code: /************************************ (C) Toni Bennasar 2007 http://chmprocessor.sf.net Under GPL license. } if( node != "" ) { // If its found, select it over the tree: contentTree.selectLink( node , true , false ); } } // Initializes the tree. // tree : UL element that contains the tree // frame: The frame that will contain the topic pages. // url: Input URL of the page. contentTree.create = function( tree , contentFrame , url ) { // Store ref to tree elements: contentTree.frame = contentFrame; I am currently building a website using 1 static page and all the content will be pulled in through different iframes by clicking on a navigation on the page. I found a very handy piece of javascript coding that lets me remove a class from one link and move it to the link that was clicked on (the code will be below). The issue I am facing with this is that if I have Home set to class="On" to begin with and then click on Location, the background image will be added to the Location section but won't get removed from Home until it is physically clicked on. Can anyone help me out with how I can get this to work correctly? javascript: Code: <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"> var Lst; function CngClass(obj){ if (typeof(obj)=='string') obj=document.getElementById(obj); if (Lst) Lst.className=''; obj.className='On'; Lst=obj; } </script> HTML: Code: <div id="navWrapper"> <div id="globalNav"> <ul> <li onclick="CngClass(this);" class="On"><a href="iframes/home.html" target="content_iframe">Home</a></li> <li onclick="CngClass(this);" class=""><a href="iframes/location.html" target="content_iframe">Location</a></li> <li onclick="CngClass(this);" class=""><a href="iframes/speakers.html" target="content_iframe">Speakers</a></li> <li onclick="CngClass(this);" class=""><a href="iframes/agenda.html" target="content_iframe">Agenda</a></li> <li onclick="CngClass(this);" class=""><a href="iframes/useful_material.html" target="content_iframe">Useful Material</a></li> <li onclick="CngClass(this);" class=""><a href="iframes/event_presentations.html" target="content_iframe">Event Presentations</a></li> <li onclick="CngClass(this);" class=""><a href="iframes/gallery.html" target="content_iframe">Gallery</a></li> </ul> </div> <div id="localNav"></div> </div> Hi guys, I've been breaking my brains for few hours, I already searched online and I found nothing so far. What I wanna do.... I have 5 different images linked to 5 different websites. Once the image is clicked, the first link will be displayed in an iframe, and the image will change to the second one. Once we click on the second image, the second link will be displayed using the same iframe, and so on. The code changes the images, but I dunno how to deal with the link to the websites. This is the code: Code: <html> <head> <title>Testing...</title> </head> <script type="text/javascript"> imgs=Array("1.png","2.png","3.png","4.png","5.png"); links=Array("www.vbct.ca","www.cnn.com","www.castanet.net","www.yahoo.com","www.cubaweb.cu"); var x=0; function change() { document.getElementById("changes").src=imgs[++x]; if (x==4) { x=-1; } } if (!imgs[x+1]) { x=-1; } </script> <body> <div> <iframe src="http://www.vbct.ca" style="border: 0; position:relative; top:0; left:0; right:0; bottom:0; width:100%; height:400px;" name="page" width="100%"></iframe> </div> <br /><br /> <div> <a href="#" target="page"><img src="1.png" id="changes" alt="alttext" onmousedown="change()" style="cursor: pointer;" /></a> </div> </body> </html> And this is the link to the test page: http://www.virtualbc.ca/sites/test/ I'm working on creating a custom calculator to determine the amount of money / credits users may earn from referrals. I've tested onChange, and it will work only when I have changed to a new field or clicked off that field. How do I make this calculate live? So if the current value is 5 and I change it to 6, it will automatically recalculate the new value. You can see what I'm working on he http://sheetmusichaven.com/admin/mys...calculator.php Note: The one I'm testing is the 1st Level field. For now i'm just having it display the date. I have written a little bit of javascript to make a DIV appear like a pop-up window when the user clicks on a link, as follows: in the HTML: <a href="javascript:showInfo('You clicked me!')">click me</a> in the javascript: Code: infoDiv = 0; function showInfo(html) { if (infoDiv == 0) //Make sure more than one can't be created at a time. { infoDiv = document.createElement("div"); infoDiv.setAttribute("class", "c3-info"); infoDiv.innerHTML = "<div class='c3-info-content'>" + html + "</div>" + "<div class='c3-info-close-bot'><a href='javascript:hideInfo()'>[close this message]</a></div>"; document.body.appendChild(infoDiv); } } function hideInfo() { if (infoDiv != 0) { document.body.removeChild(infoDiv); infoDiv = 0; } } I then have a CSS fle which I use to format the DIV. I currently use the CSS to make the div position absolute and make appear in the middle of the screen, when the scroll-bars are all the way up and left. This works well, but I want to set the position property of the DIV in its style attribute so that it appears at the point where the mouse was clicked (i.e. over the top of the hyperlink). How do I get the mouse x and y or the click-location? And do I have to compensate for the scrollbar position? <script language="JavaScript"> function changeColor(cell_id){var state1="#dde6ed"; var state2="#ffc20e"; var cellid = new Array ("id1", "id2", "id3", "id4", "id5", "id6"); for(var i = 0; i < cellid.length; i++){var nav = document.getElementById(cellid[i]); if(cellid == nav.id){nav.style.backgroundColor=state2;} else {nav.style.backgroundColor=state1;}}} </script> Can anyone tell me what is wrong with this script. I put an onClick= changeColor(this);" in my <td> tag to call the script but still not working. I'm creating a page that calculates a number depending on what value is inputted into a text field. I need to create some javascript that updates this new calculated value and outputs it next to the input field. Anytime the user changes the number, it recalculates the value. My calculation is currently being produced by PHP, however if I need to, I can create javascript as well to recalculate these numbers. My formulas for all 4 calculations are as follows: First: Inputted Value * 10 Second: Inputted Value * 20 Third: Inputted Value / 2 Fourth: Inputted Value * 2 Here is my code I'm working with: PHP Code: <?php session_start(); $username = $_SESSION['username']; include_once('inc/connect.php'); $credquery = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM userstats WHERE username='$username'"); $row = mysql_fetch_assoc($credquery); $credits = $row['credits']; $bannercredits = $row['bannercredits']; $textcredits = $row['textcredits']; $sitetobanner = $_POST['sitetobanner']; $sitetotext = $_POST['sitetotext']; $bannertotext = $_POST['bannertotext']; $texttobanner = $_POST['texttobanner']; if (isset($sitetobanner)){ $bannerimp = round($_POST['bannerimp']); if ($bannerimp > 1){ $s = "s"; } if ($bannerimp <= $credits){ $newcredits = $credits - $bannerimp; $newbannercredits = $bannerimp * 10; $totalbannercredits = $bannercredits + $newbannercredits; $updatebanner = mysql_query("UPDATE userstats SET credits='$newcredits', bannercredits='$totalbannercredits' WHERE username='$username'"); $credits = $row['credits']; $bannercredits = $row['bannercredits']; $textcredits = $row['textcredits']; $convertedbanner = "You converted ".$bannerimp." credit".$s." into ".$newbannercredits." banner impressions"; } else{ if ($credits>1){ $mycredits = $credits - 1;} $errorbanner = number_format($mycredits, 0, '.', ''); } } if (isset($sitetotext)){ $textimp = round($_POST['textimp']); if ($textimp > 1){ $s = "s"; } if ($textimp <= $credits){ $newcredits = $credits - $textimp; $newtextcredits = $textimp * 20; $totaltextcredits = $textcredits + $newtextcredits; $updatebanner = mysql_query("UPDATE userstats SET credits='$newcredits', textcredits='$totaltextcredits' WHERE username='$username'"); $credits = $row['credits']; $bannercredits = $row['bannercredits']; $textcredits = $row['textcredits']; $convertedtext = "You converted ".$textimp." credit".$s." into ".$newtextcredits." text ad impressions"; } else{ if ($credits>1){ $mycredits = $credits - 1;} $errortext = number_format($mycredits, 0, '.', ''); } } if (isset($texttobanner)){ $texttobannerimp = round($_POST['texttobannerimp']); if ($texttobannerimp > 1){ $s = "s"; } if ($texttobannerimp <= $textcredits){ if ($texttobannerimp>=2&&$texttobannerimp>""){ $newcredits = $textcredits - $texttobannerimp; $newbannercredits = $texttobannerimp / 2; $totalbannercredits = $bannercredits + $newbannercredits; $updatebanner = mysql_query("UPDATE userstats SET textcredits='$newcredits', bannercredits='$totalbannercredits' WHERE username='$username'"); $credits = $row['credits']; $bannercredits = $row['bannercredits']; $textcredits = $row['textcredits']; $convertedtextimp = "You converted ".$texttobannerimp." text ad impression".$s." into ".$newbannercredits." banner impressions"; } else{ $convertedtextimp = "You Hag"; } } else{ if ($textcredits>1){ $mycredits = $textcredits - 1;} $errortextimp = number_format($mycredits, 0, '.', ''); } } if (isset($bannertotext)){ $bannertotextimp = round($_POST['bannertotextimp']); if ($bannertotextimp > 1){ $s = "s"; } if ($bannertotextimp <= $bannercredits){ $newcredits = $bannercredits - $bannertotextimp; $newtextcredits = $bannertotextimp * 2; $totaltextcredits = $textcredits + $newtextcredits; $updatebanner = mysql_query("UPDATE userstats SET bannercredits='$newcredits', textcredits='$totaltextcredits' WHERE username='$username'"); $credits = $row['credits']; $bannercredits = $row['bannercredits']; $textcredits = $row['textcredits']; $convertedbannerimp = "You converted ".$bannertotextimp." banner impression".$s." into ".$newtextcredits." text impressions"; } else{ if ($bannercredits>1){ $mycredits = $bannercredits - 1;} $errorbannerimp = number_format($mycredits, 0, '.', ''); } } ?> <html> <head> <title>Convert Credits</title> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> function inputLimiter(e,allow) { var AllowableCharacters = ''; if (allow == 'NumbersOnly'){AllowableCharacters='0123456789.';} var k; k=document.all?parseInt(e.keyCode): parseInt(e.which); if (k!=13 && k!=8 && k!=0){ if ((e.ctrlKey==false) && (e.altKey==false)) { return (AllowableCharacters.indexOf(String.fromCharCode(k))!=-1); } else { return true; } } else { return true; } } </script> </head> <body> <h1>Convert Credits</h1><br /> Credits: <?php echo $credits; ?><br /> Banner Impressions: <?php echo $bannercredits; ?><br /> Text Ad Impressions: <?php echo $textcredits; ?><br /> <form action="convert.php" method="POST"> <h3>Credits To Banner Impressions</h3> Convert <input type="text" name="bannerimp" id="NumbersOnly" onkeypress="return inputLimiter(event,'NumbersOnly')" value="<?php echo $errorbanner; ?>" onChange=""> credits into BLANK Banner Impressions! What is the best way to force the user to click something in this iframe? I suppose I could do that thing where the mouse always has a part of a div "glued" to it, so wherever they click, the certain area is clicked. But, then they could just hit the back button. If you think this is the best way, could you please provide some code if you have some, or give me the name of this (I forget what this specific method is called)? If you don't think that's the best way, what's your idea? Thanks. I want to send a simple email with just email & subject only when the user clicks a link that opens a pdf. I'm thinking javascript is the best way to do this but I have no idea how. I have googled it a bunch but most information is about getting an email when someone clicks a link you send in an email. I don't want that. This is on a website. I'm not sure if php would be better to use. Any help would be most appreciated!
I need the code for if the user enters in a code into the field for example E1 and clicks submit it'll redirect them to a certain form. And if another user entered in E2 it would redirect them to a DIFFERENT form. I hope this is the correct category of the site for me to post this. Wasn't sure if it should be here or PHP.
Ok so im new to javascript and I have a button in an interface for an app. It's like drag and drop and i want this button to link you to a certain website searching for what the user types in the searchField1 box. The button is button16. Such as you type dogs into the text box and you click the google button among other search engines and it will redirect you to a google search doing a search for dogs. But how do I make this button search google and search for whats in searchField1. I would really appreciate the help. Im looking everywhere to learn this but just cant find it. If you could tell me how or send me a link to a tutorial that would be great. Thanks! Here is the code: I don't know where and what to add to do that. Please help. I've been handed an html document that contains a centered, scrollable <iframe> element with a static height and width. This iframe element displays a simple html document that houses the 'terms of service' text. Their goal is to have it to where the <a href> link at the bottom that is shown to the user as 'next' is disabled until the user scrolls to the bottom of the terms of agreement box. The clickable link could be a button, image or text (no preference). They have to have it this way for legal reasons and radio buttons or checkboxes will not suffice unfortunately. Question: What is the best way to go about doing this that seems to be cross-browser friendly (especially IE7). I offer $10 via paypal for well commented method/script. I have a form with two text input boxes. I want to limit the text typed into the boxes as follows: 1. Either box can have the number 2 typed in, but the other box must remain empty OR 2. Each box can have the number 1 typed into Is this possible with JS and, if so, how do I do it?? Hey, I'm not to good at javascript and need help. When someone clicks an option in a <select> box, I want a field to appear with a normal text box. For example: Code: <!--Option box--> <select name="method"> <option>Post 2 Host</option> <option>Paid</option> <!--I want it when they click Paid, a box shows up below. Such as--> <input type="text" name="paid" /> Can you show me how I can do this? Thanks. Hey, I'm new to javascript and was wondering if there is something where you can tell if something is clicked. All I need is to know something where you click something and it appears, and click again it disappears. How can I do this? Thanks! On custom button images, how do you give them the effect that they're "pushed" when the user clicks them and "unpushed" when the user lets his finger off the mouse button? I'm guessing it's some type of rollover effect, but I'm not sure how it's done.
Hi everyone - I was wondering how it would be possible for me to create a FAQ with drop-down answers when the question is clicked? For example: https://www.facebook.com/help/?page=1145 Facebook has something like that available. Any ideas? |
