JavaScript - Jkpanel .. How To Point To Multiple Html Files?
Hi,
So, i'm using the jkpanel dropdown script in my functional prototype to show context-sensitive design notes for our integrators. it's pretty cool, but i have an implementation question .. i have many source html files that call the jkpanel script, and each page requires unique content to be loaded into the dropdown panel .. but, what i see is that the drop-down content html file is hard-coded in the .js file. in other words, i need to create a .js 'and' and html for every different set of content i want to load into the dropdown panel .. so, if i have 12 html files to hold the drop down content, i also have to create 12 different versions of the .js file to point to them .. this seems like overkill .. is there a way to always point to the same jkpanel.js file in my <head>, but load a different html file to populate its content? Thanks! RL Similar TutorialsI have been working on a few budget scripts that I can access from the web in using HTML. My problem is that when variable values change I need to change these values in all of the HTML files on the server. I know that there is a way to declare global variables in a single file and use those values in another file but I have not been able to find any information that tells me exactly how to do this. I have tried to put it together on my own using what little informaiton I have been able to find but have not been able to get this to work. Is there a more detailed referance that I can find somewhere or does anyone know what steps I need to take to make this happen?
Hi, i got a webpage that links to 4 diffrent scripts but only one work at a time Any simple way around this ? Is there a way I can use JavaScript to compile a list of checkboxes with the value of the url of the file I wish to upload from my computer. And then with that checklist PHP can grab the files from my computer and upload them to the server. Doesn't have the be checkboxes but basically a list of locations so the files can be uploaded one after another. Much like Facebook's ability to upload multiple files. I can't find out how to select multiple files, so I figured just compile a list. This may seem a bit of an unusual question, but I've been tossing around an idea in my head for an experimental collaborative art & music website. I've not started building the site at all, and I've only a little HTML and no scripting experience. I plan on most likely using a service like squarespace for the ease of updating and member system and other features. (I imagine a few around here scoff at that kind of service! But that's beside the present issue.) So I imagine that if javascript is capable of handling this, it's not an extremely complicated solution. For example: say I have a song I'd like users to be able to listen to, but I want to split the parts (drums, strings, guitars, vocals, etc.) among a few different audio files, all embedded within close proximity of each other (say arranged vertically in two columns) on the same page. I want this so that users are free to play around with the parts, dropping them, lowering & raising volume, even pulling them out of sync if they please. Now what I want is a single button that will trigger all of the audio files to begin playback simultaneously, say, above the embedded files and centered. Would this be possible? Could anyone offer assistance in setting up this kind of thing? Thanks in advance! I want to make separate js and html files from my toggle.htm file: Code: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> function toggle() { var ele = document.getElementById("toggleText"); var text = document.getElementById("displayText"); if(ele.style.display == "block") { ele.style.display = "none"; text.innerHTML = "show"; } else { ele.style.display = "block"; text.innerHTML = "hide"; } } </script> </head> <body> <a id="displayText" href="javascript:toggle();">show</a> <== click Here <div id="toggleText" style="display: none"><h1>peek-a-boo</h1></div> </body> </html> My togglejs.js file looks like this: Code: function toggle() { var ele = document.getElementById("toggleText"); var text = document.getElementById("displayText"); if(ele.style.display == "block") { ele.style.display = "none"; text.innerHTML = "show"; } else { ele.style.display = "block"; text.innerHTML = "hide"; } } My togglehtm.htm file looks like this: Code: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="toggle.js"></script> </head> <body> <a id="displayText" href="javascript:toggle();">show</a> <== click Here <div id="toggleText" style="display: none"><h1>peek-a-boo</h1></div> </body> </html> What changes should I make. When the user clicks the link, I would like to have the videos open in a transparent window (not a separate browser wndow). I have figured out how to embed the files and have them open in a transparent window as soon as you load/refresh the page but I want to open the SWF using a link. Any suggestions? Thank you all. B Hi All, I have an issue that is driving me batty. I have two js files called in my <head> section but only the first one listed runs. I know this is supposed to work but it doesn't. What am I missing? I've searched here on the forum and on Google with no real results. I have read the info on javascriptkit but do not believe it applies. One script contains functions that run "onChange" of certain fields while the other runs "onSubmit" of the form. The "onChange" events from the first script run fine. The second one does not run at all. I get no errors. I can find no var conflicts. I even added an alert at the top of the main function in the second script to verify it was loading and the alert never pops up. Head Script Tags: (The first script called works fine.) However, when I got the map embedded, it seems to interfere with the spry navigation menu, and the twitter feed is not working either. I've tried combining commands and tying each script to an event, but I just don't understand enough to get them all to work. I'm a comic artist by trade, so I'm a little new to coding. Any help would be greatly appreciated! you can find the page here./ Thanks in advance for any help! Good day. I need help setting up a form, I want to do some pretty neat things: It will say: What countries do you want to visit? [FIELD] Part 1: I want that when a user starts typing into the field, it will suggest under things that match what you have typed so far, sort of like facebook search does. So I would need a list of recognized country names. Now for example imagine I was using this, and I typed in M, it would list under a max of 5 valid entries begining with M, if I typed in Me, it would list the ones begining with Me, if I typed in Mex, it would show Mexico. Now the user would have to click this drop down suggestion to choose it. Part2: I want once a user clicks on a suggestion, it will "pop under" the input box or somewhere, with a "x" beside it to remove it. The user can now type in another country, and when it is clicked it too appears as a sort of "icon" under the input box or somewhere, with an "x" beside it. Clicking the x removes the country from the current list of countries. Once he is done, he goes on to other fields and the selected countries remain visible. Once a user submits the form, I want to get only the countries that were visible to him. **An alternative idea, if this one is too complicated, would be to have a drop list with all countries in it, and once a person clicks one, it will remain and a "+" sign will appear under it. When pressed, another dropdown menu will appear so the person can choose another country from the second drop down, etc. OFC all selected countries can have an X to remove them. Idk how to do this either.. I need help guys I have no clue how to do something like this, where do you recommend I start? Any ideas? I tried searching but I'm not sure what to call this so I couldn't find anything in the search. Thanks for your help so much!! Hi i am using the following code to load a part of page dynamically using jquery Code: loadNextBackInPage_URL = null; function callBackFunctionLoadNextBackInPage(data) { //alert(data); $("#left").fadeTo(100,1); var data = $(data).find( '#left' ); $("#left").html(data); if(supports_history_api()) { history.pushState(null, null, loadNextBackInPage_URL); window.addEventListener("popstate", function(e) { alert('s'); loadNextBackInPage(location.pathname); }); } else { } } function loadNextBackInPage(url, parm) { //alert(url); loadNextBackInPage_URL = url; $("#left").fadeTo(100,.2); $.post(url, parm, callBackFunctionLoadNextBackInPage,'html'); } The loading part and even changing the browser URL is working. but why is the PoP state function being fired multiple times? I call loadNextBackInPage() originally through an onclick function. Hello I need to do a portfolio of paintings and i found a site similar of what i have in mind. The site is http://www.pikaboo.be/ It's great because its using javascript only. I just don't know how to start my reserach for that transitions and moving objects and that stuff Anyone can give me a few tips on how to start? I have been looking at jquery and mootools it does some stuff taht it's on this site but the movement of objects and the way as they appear on the screen one by one and all that pretty stuff i have no idea how to search. Anyone can help me on where to start and how to do something like this? THank you I am well versed in ActionScript and I have done a lot of this already in As3.0 using XML Node Object. However my client wants this application to be more friendly with iphones/ipads. So we are going to have to restart this and go with Javascript which we know very little about. Basically the internet application is going to be a 'Build your own Itinerary' for a huge rock event, where we have to sort each band selected by the user based on [Date:4th or 5th of July] and [Time Playing]. Those are the only two nodes we need to check, the [date] is obviously going to split it into two groups, and the [Time] is when the band is playing in that group and there will need to be an if/then to check for conflicts. other nodes like [Name] would be used to just add each of the bands selected to that list with .append() I guess. And [Stage] is a somewhat irrelevant node stored and displayed with each item. So. In the professional opinion of those on this board... Where is a good place for a group of 'AS3.0 wise guy hacks' to start cracking at this with JavaScript? What would you suggest for rookies like us making an emergency jump to HTML/Javascript? Thanks so much in advance for the assistance. Hi im wanting to know how does the computer know whos scored more in a game? From what I gather, it just disables the link's default behavior...buy why not just make the href="#" or return false from an onClick handler? Can anyone enlighten me?
