JavaScript - How To Auto Ellipse Text
I am not a programmer, so there is a problem need help. Below, how this can be achieved it(here)? thanks in advance!!
Code: <ul id="nav"> <li><a href="#1">his is a long piece of text which will need to be truncated.</a></li> <li><a href="#2">This is a long piece of text which will need to be truncated.</a> <ul><li><a href="#">This is a long piece of text which will need to be truncated.</a></li> <li><a href="#">This is a long piece of text which will need to be truncated.</a> <ul><li><a href="#">This is a long piece of text which will need to be truncated.</a></li> <li><a href="#">This is a long piece of text which will need to be truncated.</a> <ul><li><a href="#">This is a long piece of text which will need to be truncated.</a></li> <li><a href="#">This is a long piece of text which will need to be truncated.</a> <ul><li><a href="#">This is a long piece of text which will need to be truncated.</a></li> <li><a href="#">This is a long piece of text which will need to be truncated.</a></li> </ul> </li> </ul> </li> </ul> </li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="#3">This is a long piece of text which will need to be truncated.</a></li> <li><a href="#4">This is a long piece of text which will need to be truncated.</a></li> <li><a href="#5">This is a long piece of text which will need to be truncated.</a></li> </ul> Similar TutorialsHi, I have a form with 9 text fields and a text area. What I want to do is replace the text in the text area depending on how many fields contain text. For example my text boxes are named 1 to 9, if the user enters text in the first five boxes I want the text area to auto fill with 'you have selected boxes 1 to 5' if the user selects all nine it will say 'you have selected 1 to 9', therefore, the user must complete the text boxes in order. I have it working with an onchange event but i have a button on the form to also auto fill the text boxes and it does not work if this is clicked. Any help would be appreciated! Hi, I'm hoping this will be an easy one for you experts out there. I am working on a convention registration form. What I'm trying to do is have the text "50.00" pop into the COST field when any text (even if it's only one character) is entered into the NAME field. If the text in the NAME field is deleted, the "50.00" should also be deleted. Does anyone have a script that does this? Thanks! Does anyone know how to go about getting a function a bit like fckeditor / ckeditor where when you type a full URL into the 'link to' box it automatically removes the 'http://' part on the fly (i.e. as soon as another character after the initial 'http://' is typed), just leaving the user with www.etc.... in the input? I am trying to build something similar, and am a bit lost going through the fckeditor code! Thanks, Neil Hello! I need some help here. I need to pre-populate a name and a phone number box based on what's entered in the employee id box. By entering in the employee id - EMPLOYEE ID: [JOHN R] It automatically fills in - Employee Name: [John Roberts] Employee Phone: [1234567890] Thanks. I'm writing divs to a page that will be used to hold images of various sizes, so I'm setting the width to auto. However, some of the images will need captions, and with the auto width, the div is widening to accommodate the size of the text, rather than sizing to the image and wrapping the text. I could wait for the image to load and base the div width on imageobject.width, but waiting for a image.onload is screwing with the rest of my code. Rather than roto-rooting my code to make the image.onload work, I thought I'd ask if anyone had ideas on making a div auto-size to an image while constraining text in the same (or maybe a child?) div. Lemme know your thoughts! Thanks! ~gyz Hello, I don't know if this can be done in Javascript, or requires any other language but i was wondering if this would be possible. I would like to embed this Javascript code in to a PHP file and then for it to run automatically upon the PHP file loading: Code: <td class="smallDesc"> <a name="fb_share" type="button_count" href="http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php">Share</a><script src="http://static.ak.fbcdn.net/connect.php/js/FB.Share" type="text/javascript"></script> </td> The Javascirpt is the Facebook Share button that basically allows users that have Facebook to share the page there currently on in their Facebook status by pressing the button, but if there not logged in it shows the login page, not a problem just continue the script. The current button i which is what i want to load automatically in the PHP file is located here, to test the functionalilty just click "Share" button in blue.. http://watch-movies-online.anyfilman...-Movie-17.html To summarise, i would like the above Javascript code to execute automatically upon pageload of this PHP file.. http://www.watch-movies-online.anyfi...p://google.com. If that could be done, and if this also is possible.. i would like for the "Share" button on the external page that is loaded from the Javascript code above to be clicked automatically so in effect when ever someone visits the PHP page after clicking "Click Here to Watch/Stream 2012 Online For Free" on this page it will automatically load the Facebook Share box, and automatically click the "Share" Button and then close the page if possible, but not required. Please feel free to ask any questions, i'll be happy to answer. Thanks in advance. Best Regards, Jonathan. As of right now I have a code that will work in IE but wont work in FireFox...go figure. Basically what I want to have happen is when you type in an area code it will provide an output in a predetermined area of the page. For Example: Input- 512 Output - Austin, TX The code that I have doesn't work with firefox and I was just wondering if there was a code that would allow that to happen. Thanks! Hi all, Thanks for reading. I'm having an issue trying to accomplish the following - I have a text field (field1) already displayed on the HTML page. However, there's a link where you can add additional text fields to the page as well. When the link is clicked, the second text field is added successfully (field2), and when the link is clicked again, the third text field (field3) is added successfully. However, the third field does not add itself to the page, and the text for anything greater than a third field also isn't displayed after. This obviously means that my "fields" variable is not working right, so I'm wondering, would anyone be able to assist me to help me get that variable processing correctly? Code: <script language="javascript"> fields = 1; function addMore() { if (fields = 1) { document.getElementById('addedMore').innerHTML = "<input type='text' name='field2' size='25' /> <span>Field 2.</span>"; fields = 2; } else if (fields = 2) { document.getElementById('addedMore').innerHTML = "<input type='text' name='field3' size='25' /> <span>Field 3.</span>"; fields = 3; } else { document.getElementById('addedMore').innerHTML = "Only 3 fields are allowed."; document.form.add.disabled=true; } } </script> Here is the code in my HTML - Code: <input type="text" name="field1" size="25" /> <span>Field 1.</span> <div id="addedMore"></div> <p class="addMore"><form name="add"><a onclick="addMore()">Add another field.</a></form></p> Thank you very much. Hi everyone - would anyone be able to assist with a code for updating information on a daily basis? For example, I wish to update a section of our site every day that has the following timing information: Everything is tabulated in excel and/or csv, and it also has on line pages in monthly format, but on the main index page, I just need to have a small area that provides it on a daily basis without having to go to an individual monthly page. Dawn Sunrise Mid Day Sunset Hope this make sense! In the same regard, a code that has QUOTES can also be included with daily (automatic) changes. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! Hello, I'm on a RPG game and they have a automatic logout timer to stop people from using bots to play, the only problem with it is, if someone lets the timer run out, it won't let the user log back in for a time (This time could be anywhere from 5 minutes to 3 hours from what other members have told me) Now java isn't my strong point (But I'm learning ^_^) and I'm not 100% sure if this error is related to java or some other code format. Using the develop tool in Safari I was able to find the code, and its telling me thats its java, I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place if its not Java after all. I'm wondering if looking over this code, someone might be able to find the problem or might have any tips to make it work better. (Note; I'm not the admin or owner of the RPG, but the owner hasnt done anything about it mainly cause they are to lazy I think?? or might not know how to fix it. PHP Code: var c_reloadwidth3=200 var countDownTime3=countDownInterval3+1; function countDown3(){ countDownTime3--; if (countDownTime3 <=0){ countDownTime3=countDownInterval3; clearTimeout(counter3) window.location.reload() return } if (document.all) //if IE 4+ document.all.countDownText3.innerText = Math.floor(countDownTime3 / 60)+":"+(countDownTime3 % 60)+" "; else if (document.getElementById) //else if NS6+ document.getElementById("countDownText3").innerHTML= Math.floor(countDownTime3 / 60)+":"+(countDownTime3 % 60)+" " else if (document.layers){ document.c_reload.document.c_reload3.document.write('<b id="countDownText3">'+countDownTime3+' </b>') document.c_reload.document.c_reload3.document.close() } counter3=setTimeout("countDown3()", 1000); } function startit3(){ if (document.all||document.getElementById) document.write('<b id="countDownText3">'+countDownTime3+' </b>') countDown3() } For all I know it could be another script causing it to do it, but this is a start to help try and fix the problem. Thank you to anyone who helps. - zerobeat, Jack. I need to automate a repeated process that fills out a form and submits it automatically. Can someone lead me to the right direction on accomplishing this? - Thanks!
I am wondering how i can make a page auto scroll in any direction when the mouse gets too close, i was thinking about an image following the mouse could do it <didnt work, any ideas on how i would do that? I was thinking about a broken drag and drop script, that never drops < didnt work anyone can help me?? Code: var milisec=0 document.d.d2.value='0' function display(){ if (milisec>=9){ location.replace('javascript:chresp(1,0)'); // i want to doing auto click to this link -> javascript:chresp(1,0) } else milisec+=1 document.d.d2.value=milisec setTimeout("display()",1000) } display() I need to set something up so every X amount of second on a page it goes a certain command, and keeps resetting the counter after everytime and goes again. I thought of many of the timer commands I have found on Google but didn't know if this was the RIGHT way to do it since I want it to be a document command that repeats. If what is returned to the command is true instead of false it needs to be able to change location of the browser, so I didn't know if the timer commands I found were right or not. Thanks. Ok - I'm using an 'off the peg' shopping cart (Mal's e-commerce) that posts items to the cart using a standard form with a submit button. What I want to do is send an item to the cart 'automatically', that is without the user actually filling a form or pressing a 'submit' button. What I send to the cart will be dependant upon the value of a cookie that will have been set at some earlier point in the session. My plan was to use document.write statements to build the 'form' and send it to the shopping cart... Here is the kind of form i will be creating: <form method="post" /> <input type="hidden" name="product" value="XXXXXXXX" /> <input type="hidden" name="price" value="0.00" /> <input type="hidden" name="qty" value="1" /> <input type="submit" value="add to basket" /> </form> 1) 1st problem the product value "XXXXXXXX" actually needs to be 'constructed' out of text plus the value held in the cookie eg... 'here is your COOKIEVALUE product' what i was going to try here was "here is your" + COOKIEVALUE + "product" which doesn't work - but that's what I'm trying to achieve. 2) 2nd problem is the submit 'button' needs to be an automatic 'invisible' action - i don't actually want to give them a button to click i just want to submit it from the coding. Hope that makes some kind of sense! I'm trying to write a bookmarklet to automatically follow a specific link on a page without manually clicking or selecting the link. It's for the Facebook game Hatchlings. Each time I view someone's page to collect an egg, it has the following text: You found an egg! Add it to your basket. "Add it to your basket." is the clickable link, but has a different URL embedded in it each time I visit the page. Is there a way to create a bookmarklet to strip out the embedded URL and go to the link without actually clicking on "Add it to your basket." ? Thanks in advance for the help. First off, i have no idea what to do, because when i get beyond the realm of html/css, vb and php (some) i become lost. I hope someone can help me achieve this because i have no idea what i'm doing, and I've been at it for 2 weeks and no money to hire someone to do this for me. If you ever been in my situation, you know exactly how i feel. I have no code of my own to show you, but hope someone can still help me. I'm have a number 0.0000000, and every min i need that number to increase to 0.0000000, than to 0.0000002 and so on and so forth. Every time i click a button, whatever the number has risen to, it will reset it back down to 0.0000000. Can someone help me out with this? |
