JavaScript - Javascript Functions That Call Webservice Methods Are Not Working
Hello,

I specified lines that are not working below. Please help. <%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="Default2.aspx.cs" Inherits="Default2" %> <!DOCTYPE html> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head runat="server"> <title></title> <script type="text/javascript"> function GetMyName() { WebService1.GetName(onNameSuccess, onNameFailure); } function onNameSuccess(result) { return result; } function onNameFailure(result) { alert("There is an error"); } function GetMySurname() { WebService1.GetSurname(onSurnameSuccess, onSurnameFailure); } function onSurnameSuccess(result) { return result; } function onSurnameFailure(result) { alert("There is an error"); } //JAVASCRIPT FUNCTIONS ARE NOT WORKING HERE //THESE TWO LINES ARE NOT WORKING var name = GetMyName(); var surname = GetMySurname(); </script> </head> <body> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server"> <Services> <asp:ServiceReference Path="WebService1.asmx" /> </Services> </asp:ScriptManager> //JAVASCRIPT FUNCTIONS ARE WORKING HERE </form> </body> </html> Similar TutorialsHi everybody! I've a problem and I'm not able to solve it alone. I want to invoke java methods of a self written java programm with javascript. I found something like a tutorial (http://stanislavvitvitskiy.blogspot....lications.html), but it has not worked. I put my class file in a jar file and when I want to load it in javascript i get an error. I tried it this way: var url = new java.net.URL('C:/java_js' + '/xultest.jar'); var cl = new java.net.URLClassLoader(url); var aClass = java.lang.Class.forName("com.stan.XULDemo", true, cl); var inst = aClass.newInstance(); // Calling 'sum' function from java var a = inst.sum(2, 3); alert(a); // Will alert '5' Can anyone please help, and say to me what's wrong about it? Or does anyone have another aproach to call java methods with javascript? cheers, Martin 1)I want to make a http request to a url lets say http://test1.com/info this will give me xml 2)I want to convert this xml from 1 to json lets say json 1 3)Now I make a rest request to url lets say http://test2.com/myweb this returns a json lets say json 2 json 1 [ { "id": "123", "testname": "test123", "name": "John Doe", "active": true, "type": "test6" } { "id": "456", "testname": "test564", "name": "Ship Therasus", "active": true, "type": "test7" } .... some 100 entries ] and json 2 some like below [ { "id": "123", "country": "USA", "state": "KA", "age": 24, "group": "g1" } { "id": "456", "country": "UK", "state": "MA", "age": 28, "group": "G2" } ...... 100 entries ] Now Id is the constant thing between json1 and json2 I want to make a resultant json something like below lets call json3.I want to match the id and get country and state from json2 and append to json1 [ { "id": "123", "testname": "test123", "name": "John Doe", "active": true, "type": "test6", "country":"USA", "state":"KA" } { "id": "456", "testname": "test564", "name": "Ship Therasus", "active": true, "type": "test7", "country":"UK", "state":"MA" } ] Now wat i tried for 1 and 3 but for 2 dont know wat to do and to compare and combine I am not sure wat to do If any help will be greatful function fun() { var data="hello"; $.post('http://localhost/ws/service.asmx/HelloWord',{},function(response) { data = response; }).error(function(){ alert("Sorry could not proceed"); }); return data; } My javascript quits working when I am rendering the html? (It works perfectly fine if the page is opened from http address directly). I did some research and concluded that "JavaScript is executed on page load", so when I render my html, my JavaScript functions are not automatically called. My question is how should I call the javascript functions manually? verify.html: Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <HTML> <HEAD> <Title>form</Title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;charset=UTF-8"> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="xupload.css"> </HEAD> <BODY> <form id="myform" enctype="multipart/form-data" action="/cgi-bin/upload.cgi" method="post" onSubmit="return StartUpload(this);"> <DIV id="div1"> <b><font id='x_max_files'>?</font> files <font id='x_max_size'>?</font> Mb total maximum</b> <div id="upload_input"><input id="my_file_element" type="file" name="file_1" size=58></div> <div id="files_list"></div> <p align=center><input type="submit" value="Upload Files" class="myForm" id="submit_btn"></p> </DIV> </form> <iframe src="javascript:false;" name="xupload" style="position:absolute;left:-9999px;"></iframe> <script type="text/javascript"> //Specify your form ID var x_form_id = 'myform'; var x_mode = 1; var x_tmpl_name = ''; </script> <script src="xupload.js" type="text/javascript"></script> </BODY> </HTML> config file: Code: htmlverify = "../verify.html" Perl: Code: if(my $verifypage = $g->{CV}{htmlverify}) { # passing variables xxxxx .... # render the page: send_header(); $p->pf($verifypage); } I have a javascript assignment I am having difficulties with. Code: function myFunction(myName) { alert("You are "+myName); } callFunction = "myFunction"; parameter = "Joe"; window[callFunction](parameter); However this code doesn't work: Code: function myFunction(myName, myAge) { alert("You are "+myName+" and "+myAge+" years old."); } callFunction = "myFunction"; parameter = "Bill,15"; parameter = parameter.split(","); window[callFunction](parameter); The above code alerts: "You are Bill,15 and undefined years old." Thanks for the help! I currently have the following code: <script> function strstr (haystack, needle, bool) { var pos1 = 0; haystack += ''; pos1 = haystack.indexOf(needle); if (pos1 == -1) { return false; } else{ if (bool){ return haystack.substr(0, pos1); } else{ amp1 = haystack.indexOf('&'); if((amp1 == -1) || pos1<amp1){ alert("here"); return haystack.slice(pos1); }else{ bString = haystack.slice( pos1 ); pos2 = bString.indexOf( needle ); amp2 = bString.indexOf('&'); //alert(bString.slice( pos2)); return bString.slice( pos2 ); }//if(amp>1){ }//if (bool){ }//if (pos == -1) { }//function strstr var story = strstr(top.location.href, "story="); var pinID = story.replace("story=", ""); alert(pinID); if(pinID>0){ document.getElementById('iFrame').src = 'http://www.domain.net/index.php?story='+pinID; }//if(pinID>0){ </script> It takes the website URL in Javascript and I wanted it to see if there is a "story=1" id and then pass it to the IFRAME. This works in a fashion, but i was trying to make it into a function so I could find and pass other variables, but anything after an & sign and it all fails? I was hoping to pick out variables from the top.location.ahref of "http://www.domain.com/index.php?story=1&category=2&something=3" for example? Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks Hi all! I'm pretty new to JavaScript and completely new to this forum. I'm James. Well uh, I'm not sure how to... I wanted to make something like this using javascript... Code: myObject.someMethod('something').anotherProperty much like the Code: document.getElementById('someId').style.morestuff But the thing is, I've been around every DOM whatnot I can find, I just can't seem to make it work. I kinda need it to make my own DOM for some API i'm writing. So I can write like... Code: function someGreatAPI(){ this.property1=''; this.property2=''; //... this.method1 = function(var1){ //this should make my firstMethod this.nestedProperty = 0; this.nestedMethod = someFunction; //firstMethods nested method } } //so I can use it like... var obj = new someGreatAPI(); obj.method1(10).nestedMethod(); It has to be possible, it's possible with document.getelementbyid, right? it has to be. Thanks in advance. I have been working on a JavaScript form with validation and I cant get it to work right. The form is supposed to validate the name, E-mail, Phone number, Password and confirmation, Drop-down selection, Question reply, yes and no radios, and 3 preferences check-boxes. It is also supposed to verify that the passwords match, not allow any letters or special characters in the phone number box, and remove the default text when a user clicks on the Name, E-mail, and Question reply boxes. I've been checking over the code for almost a month now and I can't figure out why it is not working. This is my entire code. Call the document useparameters.html The first function will use a parameter for the Width of a horizontal rule. When called, the function will draw a horizontal rule of a width specified by the Functions argument. Prompt the user for the pixel width information. The second function will use parameters for two heading sizes. The parameters will be used for the size of the text that will be displayed on the first line and the size of the text that will be displayed on the second line. The heading size will be different on the first and second lines. Prompt the user for these two headings as well (one prompt for each). The body of the HTML document will contain a page heading and call the two functions you created, displaying a horizontal rule and two lines of text which will be formated based upon the parameters the user entered into the prompts. Hello, Iam currently experimenting with Java Scripting and have hit a wall about the use of Functions. I am trying to create a difference function which would work out the difference between two numbers. e.g. 14 and 18 I am able to create a function and if statement to find the larger number of a argument but am having trouble writing one to find the difference between two numbers. Iam also confused (i know probably a silly question) but is the operator used the same for this function. Hope people can make sense of that. Thanks, Hello all here is a more intelligent question. This one is just on an exercise I am doing. Now what I'm aiming to do is after I have entered the contents of the Array's I then want to query the newly created array/database, based on the track number, Via a seprate function. However all the values I entered, always come up empty. No matter how many solutions I tried I can't get the query to work. So I've decided to come to you guys/gals for help. Code: mainMenu() function mainMenu() { menu = 0; menu = eval(prompt("Select an Operation to Continue\n ====================\n 1 - Create new Database\n 2 - Query Database\n 3 - Show Report\n Any other to exit")); switch (menu) { case 1: insert(trackNumber) break; case 2: query(trackNumber) break; case 3: break; } } // Enter the track number function trackNumber() { var theNumber = eval(prompt("Enter Track Number")); if ((theNumber >= 0) && (theNumber < 100)) { return theNumber; // Stores the track number for insert(trackNumber) } } // This function will allow the user via the (trackNumber) // parameter to insert the contents of the database function insert(trackNumber) { // Create new Array's trackNum = new Array(5) trackName = new Array(5) trackArtist = new Array(5) // For each Track we want to hold the trackNumber(), // the track name and the track's artist. for(var i = 0; i < trackNum.length; i++) { trackNum[i] = trackNumber() trackName[i]= prompt("Enter Track Name: " + i) trackArtist[i] = prompt("Enter Track Artist: " + i) } } // This Function will allow the user to query the database, based on track number. function query(trackNumber) { var trackSearch = trackNumber() var j = 0; for(j in query) { if (query[j] == trackSearch) { alert("Track Number: " + trackSearch + "\nTrack Name: " + trackName[j] + "\nTrack Artist " + trackArtist[j]); break; } else if (query[j] != trackSearch) { alert("Track Number: Empty" + "\nTrack Name: Empty" + "\nTrack Artist: Empty"); break; } } } If someone could please help me by posting some relevant code that would help accomplish this, I would greatly appreciate it, as so far I have been scratching my head puzzled, at how I could solve this. All -- I have a JavaScript config file called gameSetting.js which contains a bunch of variables which configures a particular game. I also have a shared JavaScript library which uses the variables in gameSetting.js, which I include like so: <script type="text/javascript" src="gameSetting.js" ></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="gameLibrary.js" ></script> In gameSetting.js I have: $(document).ready(function() { // call some functions / classes in gameLibrary.js } in Firefox, Safari, and Chrome, this works fine. However, in IE, when it's parsing gameSetting.js, it complains that the functions that live in gameLibrary.js aren't defined. When it gets to parsing gameLibrary.js, the variables in gameSetting.js are reported as not being defined. I've tried dynamically bootstrapping the gameLibrary file using this function in document.ready for dynamic load... $.getScript("gameLibrary.js"); However, the same problem still happens in IE, where when it parses the files individually it's not taking into context the file/variables that came before, so it's not an out of load order problem. My options a 1) collapsing all the functions in gameLibrary.js and variables in gameSetting.js into one file. However, this is not practical because this is dealing with literally hundreds of games, and having a gameLibrary.js in ONE location for ONE update is what makes most logical sense. 2) figure out a way to get this to work where variables in file1 are accessible to file2 in IE (as it seems they are in other browsers). jQuery seems to be able to have multiple plugins that all refer to the based jQuery-1.3.2.js, so I know there is a way to get this to work. Help appreciated. Nero |
