JavaScript - Double Action Php/javascript Button?
Hello,
I'm trying to achieve what seems pretty simple, I have achieved both aspects successfully by themselves but together I have not I am trying to submit a form data via post, then I'm also trying to redirect I have got the window.location working I have the database writing working however I can't seem to get them to work sequentially I think the reason is that the post action redirects to itself, then the initial setinterval request is gone I try to do the sequential action this way Code: <a href=# onclick="document.forms['frm'].submit();redirect();">Submit</a> So, either the data posts and I'm stuck at the same page, or it redirects and the data doesn't post What am I missing? I read that to have multiple functions by one click, you separate them with a semi-colon as I have done I think as I mentioned that the key is the post to PHP_SELF which "nullifies" the redirect request eg. it never existed So what do I do? Also I'm not after the time interval, I was just trying to find a way for a user to be notified "Hey you're going to be redirected" by an alert (which I had this pop up working as well) then when they press okay, they are redirected. Ideally the user enters data, data is stored, pop-up, hit okay, redirect Thanks for any help Similar TutorialsHere is the code for test.html: Code: <html> <head><title></title></head> <body> <script type="text/javascript"> function OnSubmitForm(){ document.myform.action ="insert.html"; return true; } </script> <form name="myform" onsubmit="return OnSubmitForm()" method="get"> <input type='radio' name='Search' value='test'>test</input> </form> <a href='javascript:document.myform.submit()'><img src='images/buttonnext.jpg'></a> </body> </html> The way I want it to work: when the img (buttonnext.jpg) is clicked, the form is submitted. When the form is submitted it runs the javascript, which sets the action to be that insert.html is loaded. i.e. the end result should be to redirect to insert.html?Search=test The way that it is working now: the page is redirected to test.html?Search=test Note: If I use a submit button that is part of the form (i.e. input field with type "submit") the page is redirected correctly. What do I need to change to accomplish my goal? Hi All, I have webform ,in that we have written some javascript for validation .we are calling this validatation while saving the form by using on client click event .Now we want to prevent the double time clicking the button .I have rounded the entire net but none of the code is not working because we have already calling the on client click function .I tried by calling 2 functions in on client click .But no use. Please suggeset some thing differnt and easy approach Awaiting for the reply hi, I would like to pop up an edit window when I submit my form, my code below doesn't seem to work?! think my syntax is wrong soemwhere?! Code: function popUpBig(URL) { day = new Date(); id = day.getTime(); eval("page" + id + " = window.open(URL, '" + id + "', 'toolbar=0,scrollbars=0,location=0,statusbar=0,menubar=0,resizable=0,width=400,height=360,left = 220,top = 250');"); } <form method="post" name="times"><input type="hidden" name="day" value="Monday" /><a type="submit" class="button" onSubmit="javascript:popUpBig('edit_day.php')" ><span>Edit</span></a></form> I am working on my personal portfolio site, and am using a code that will make each portfolio piece appear in a new div when the name of the piece is clicked on. The problem is, JS does not seem to recognize double digits. I am not familiar with JS at all, I just got comfortable with CSS/HTML a few weeks ago! I am in over my head. It would really, really help if someone could show me how to change the code so that I could make about 15 to 20 divs instead of 9. Here is the code: Code: <script language="JavaScript"> numdivs=9 IE5=NN4=NN6=false if(document.all)IE5=true else if(document.layers)NN4=true else if(document.getElementById)NN6=true function init() { showDiv(0) } function showDiv( which ) { for(i=0;i<numdivs;i++) { if(NN4) eval("document.div"+i+".visibility='hidden'") if(IE5) eval("document.all.div"+i+".style.visibility='hidden'") if(NN6) eval("document.getElementById('div"+i+"').style.visibility='hidden'") } if(NN4) eval("document.div"+which+".visibility='visible'") if(IE5) eval("document.all.div"+which+".style.visibility='visible'") if(NN6) eval("document.getElementById('div"+which+"').style.visibility='visible'") } </script> Thank you for taking the time to read this! Hopefully someone can help. Hi, I'm Sam and I'm new to this forum. I have a few question about double combo box. Before I get down on details I have to confess that my knowledge about javascript is almost zer0 so if you're posting any answer please elaborate. I've found this code somewhere online and I'd like to make some changes to this code. I've searched everywhere but couldn't find any answer yet. As you can see in this code, the javascript function can open a page in iframe once the user clicks on "Go". I'd like to know how to add links to the options in the first box so that it can open an iframe by itself, plus loads the next box , so when the user selects an option from the first box, the first box opens a page in iframe then loads the options for the second box. There should be two iframes side by side, the first iframe to open a page for the first box once the user selects the options in the box and the second ifram opens a page for second box once the user clicks on the "go". I just don't know how to add links to the options in the first box. Here's the code: Code: <html> <head> </head> <body> <form name="doublecombo"> <p><select name="example" size="1" onChange="redirect(this.options.selectedIndex)"> <option>Technology Sites</option> <option>News Sites</option> <option>Search Engines</option> </select> <select name="stage2" size="1"> <option value="http://cssdrive.com">CSS Drive</option> <option value="http://www.news.com">News.com</option> <option value="http://www.wired.com">Wired News</option> </select> <input type="button" name="test" value="Go!" onClick="go()"> </p> <script> <!-- /* Double Combo Script Credit By JavaScript Kit (www.javascriptkit.com) Over 200+ free JavaScripts here! */ var groups=document.doublecombo.example.options.length var group=new Array(groups) for (i=0; i<groups; i++) group[i]=new Array() group[0][0]=new Option("CSS Drive","http://cssdrive.com") group[0][1]=new Option("News.com","http://www.news.com") group[0][2]=new Option("Wired News","http://www.wired.com") group[1][0]=new Option("CNN","http://www.cnn.com") group[1][1]=new Option("ABC News","http://www.abcnews.com") group[2][0]=new Option("Hotbot","http://www.hotbot.com") group[2][1]=new Option("Infoseek","http://www.infoseek.com") group[2][2]=new Option("Excite","http://www.excite.com") group[2][3]=new Option("Lycos","http://www.lycos.com") var temp=document.doublecombo.stage2 function redirect(x){ for (m=temp.options.length-1;m>0;m--) temp.options[m]=null for (i=0;i<group[x].length;i++){ temp.options[i]=new Option(group[x][i].text,group[x][i].value) } temp.options[0].selected=true } function go(){ document.getElementById("search").src=temp.options[temp.selectedIndex].value } //--> </script> </form> <iframe id="search" name="photos_frame" src="my_photo_page_needs_to_load_into_this_frame.htm" width=800 height=400 marginwidth=0 border=1 marginheight=0 hspace=0 vspace=0 frameborder=0 scrolling=no></iframe> </body> </html> I'm finishing up an e-commerce website, and I can't quite figure out why the shopping cart feature is acting all screwy in Internet Explorer. It works fine in Firefox, but in IE, when you add a product to the cart it doesn't display the little pop-up notification, and when you click on the "my cart" at the top right the product quantities are incorrect about 70% of the time. For some reason IE keeps doubling the quantities; I think one of the scripts may be double refreshing the page I just can't figure out where. If anyone has any suggestions they would be much appreciated. The site I'm referring to is he www.tcatvs.com Thanks y'all! Also I'm using the jquery framework for much of the site. This is driving me nuts I need to replace all instances of "zz" with 'Z'. I can easily replace other strings such as a = a.replace(/mickeymouse/, "Z"); but a = a.replace(/zz/, "Z"); doesn't work. Must be a double characer thing? Hello everyone, I have a webpage with three different search options. Each option has a radio button clicking on which enables the text fields and buttons in that option with the help of java script. The first options allows to search by PIN. Second one by SSN, DOB and DOBRange, And 3rd one by various combinations of the name. The javascript I use to do this is given below: Code: function chMd() { // initialize form with empty field document.forms[0].PIN.disabled=false; document.forms[0].PIN.value=""; document.forms[0].SSNfirst.disabled=false; document.forms[0].DOBRange1.disabled=false; document.forms[0].DOBRange1.value=""; document.forms[0].DOBRange2.disabled=false; document.forms[0].DOBRange2.value=""; document.forms[0].LastName.disabled=false; document.forms[0].LastName.value=""; document.forms[0].FirstName.disabled=false; document.forms[0].FirstName.value=""; document.forms[0].MiddleName.disabled=false; document.forms[0].MiddleName.value=""; document.forms[0].Last4.disabled=false; document.forms[0].Last4.value=""; document.forms[0].First4.disabled=false; document.forms[0].First4.value=""; document.forms[0].DOB1.disabled=false; document.forms[0].DOB2.disabled=false; document.forms[0].Option1.disabled=false; document.forms[0].Option2.disabled=false; document.forms[0].Option3.disabled=false; for(var i=0;i<document.forms[0].elements.length;i++) { if(document.forms[0].elements[i].name=="dOption") { if(document.forms[0].elements[i].value=="N") { if(document.forms[0].elements[i].checked==true){ document.forms[0].PIN.disabled=false; document.forms[0].SSNfirst.disabled=true; document.forms[0].DOB1.disabled=true; document.forms[0].DOBRange1.disabled=true; document.forms[0].DOB2.disabled=true; document.forms[0].DOBRange2.disabled=true; document.forms[0].LastName.disabled=true; document.forms[0].FirstName.disabled=true; document.forms[0].MiddleName.disabled=true; document.forms[0].Last4.disabled=true; document.forms[0].First4.disabled=true; document.forms[0].Option1.disabled=false; document.forms[0].Option2.disabled=true; document.forms[0].Option3.disabled=true; } } else if(document.forms[0].elements[i].value=="T") { if(document.forms[0].elements[i].checked==true){ document.forms[0].PIN.disabled=true; document.forms[0].SSNfirst.disabled=false; document.forms[0].Last4.disabled=false; document.forms[0].DOB1.disabled=false; document.forms[0].DOBRange1.disabled=false; document.forms[0].DOB2.disabled=true; document.forms[0].DOBRange2.disabled=true; document.forms[0].LastName.disabled=true; document.forms[0].FirstName.disabled=true; document.forms[0].MiddleName.disabled=true; document.forms[0].First4.disabled=true; document.forms[0].Option1.disabled=true; document.forms[0].Option2.disabled=false; document.forms[0].Option3.disabled=true; } } else if(document.forms[0].elements[i].value=="R") { if(document.forms[0].elements[i].checked==true){ document.forms[0].PIN.disabled=true; document.forms[0].SSNfirst.disabled=true; document.forms[0].Last4.disabled=true; document.forms[0].DOB1.disabled=true; document.forms[0].DOBRange1.disabled=true; document.forms[0].DOB2.disabled=false; document.forms[0].DOBRange2.disabled=false; document.forms[0].LastName.disabled=false; document.forms[0].FirstName.disabled=false; document.forms[0].MiddleName.disabled=false; document.forms[0].First4.disabled=false; document.forms[0].Option1.disabled=true; document.forms[0].Option2.disabled=true; document.forms[0].Option3.disabled=false; } } } } } This works fine but the problem is we have 3 submit buttons with differnt actions using the normal <s:submit> works fine but when I use <s:submit action="Search1"> the javascript does not render. Here is an example of my jsp code: Code: <s:form id="Search" name="units" action="Search1"> .... ... <Table> <tr><td> <input name="dOption" value="T" onClick="chMd()" type="radio"> Option 2 <br /></td></tr> <tr> <td> <s:textfield name="crssn" label="SSN:" size="9" maxlength="9" disabled="true" value="xxxxxxxxx" onclick="clearText(this);"onblur="clearText(this);" required="true"/></td> <td><br><s:checkbox name="last4" label="Last 4" labelposition="bottom" disabled="true"/></td></tr> <tr><td><s:textfield label="DOB:" name="crdob1" size="10" maxlength="10" disabled="true" value="mm/dd/yyyy" onclick="clearText(this);"onblur="clearText(this);" /></td> <td><s:textfield name="crrange1" label="+/- months" size="1" disabled="true" /></td><td> </td><td> </td> <td> <s:submit action="Search2" name="Option2" value="Search"/></td></tr> </Table> Similarly for the other options. This does not seem to work. However if I use the same code without specifying an action it works. e.g. Code: <Table> <tr><td> <input name="dOption" value="T" onClick="chMd()" type="radio"> Option 2 <br /></td></tr> <tr> <td> <s:textfield name="crssn" label="SSN:" size="9" maxlength="9" disabled="true" value="xxxxxxxxx" onclick="clearText(this);"onblur="clearText(this);" required="true"/></td> <td><br><s:checkbox name="last4" label="Last 4" labelposition="bottom" disabled="true"/></td></tr> <tr><td><s:textfield label="DOB:" name="crdob1" size="10" maxlength="10" disabled="true" value="mm/dd/yyyy" onclick="clearText(this);"onblur="clearText(this);" /></td> <td><s:textfield name="crrange1" label="+/- months" size="1" disabled="true" /></td><td> </td><td> </td> <td> <s:submit name="Option2" value="Search"/></td></tr> </Table> Code: <Table> <tr><td> <input name="dOption" value="T" onClick="chMd()" type="radio"> Option 2 <br /></td></tr> <tr> <td> <s:textfield name="crssn" label="SSN:" size="9" maxlength="9" disabled="true" value="xxxxxxxxx" onclick="clearText(this);"onblur="clearText(this);" required="true"/></td> <td><br><s:checkbox name="last4" label="Last 4" labelposition="bottom" disabled="true"/></td></tr> <tr><td><s:textfield label="DOB:" name="crdob1" size="10" maxlength="10" disabled="true" value="mm/dd/yyyy" onclick="clearText(this);"onblur="clearText(this);" /></td> <td><s:textfield name="crrange1" label="+/- months" size="1" disabled="true" /></td><td> </td><td> </td> <td> <s:submit action="Search2" name="Option2" value="Search"/></td></tr> </Table> Any idea what I need to change in my javascript or jsp to get this to work? Hey all - I've searched high and low for this through Google, and tried piecing together some solutions, but 1) I'm way too incompetent from a Javascript perspective to take two ideas and make them work and 2) I've spent close to 2 hours and dont have a solution. SOOOO I thought I'd ask the geniuses here for some ideas: I have a page with an iFrame called portalCalcFrame that I'm trying to submit data to to do some calculations and preview in the iFrame before actually submitting the page to the next...well...page (both the "Recalculate" button to send to iFrame and the "Next Step" button to submit it further into the process are on the main frame). So I've got two problems. A) I need to submit a form to a different target, aka portalCalcFrame B) I need to submit the form to a different "action" page than my form actually submits to. (The form submits to a page called step2.php, whereas the iFrame needs to load page calcframe.php and have the form submit to that) I don't really know where to start, Javascript is far from my forte. I've taken it a couple of different ways. Any ideas guys? I love you long time. Thanks in advance! JE Hey guys. This is vague because I dont know what exactly to tell you but please reply with me so I can fix this. I want to add something to my forum. Specifically, I want to add a HTML and Picture button for when you go to reply. Like posting an article here, there are also these options (font, alignment, insert image) I do not know how to achieve this but shouldnt be too hard. Here are the two sources you will need to look through to help me fix the forum. http://neoweather.com/FWFORUM.JS http://static.websimages.com/JS/fw.js THANKS Hi, I am not entirely sure what I am doing wrong here, and I have been looking at this for ages, so apologies in advance if I have become so bleary eyed I can't see something simple. I use php to create buttons based on values pulled for a table. The problem I have is when you click on the first button the javascript function works great, when you click on the next button you get the same output even though it should be different results. I am working in ff and I can see on my firebug console that the javascript function is being called, but it is not passing the new value of the second or third button, it just keeps repassing the value of the first button. So not entirely sure where I am going wrong here. My page is: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function loadXMLDoc2(File,ID,Msg){ if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); } else { try{ xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP"); } catch (e) { xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } } xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=function(){ if (xmlhttp.readyState==4 && xmlhttp.status==200){ document.getElementById(ID).innerHTML=xmlhttp.responseText; } } var params=Msg; xmlhttp.open("POST",File, true); xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("Pragma", "Cache-Control:no-cache"); xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("Content-type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"); xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("Content-length", params.length); xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("Connection", "close"); xmlhttp.send(params); } </script> <head> <body> <?php $con = mysql_connect("localhost","user","password"); if (!$con) { die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); } mysql_select_db("mydb", $con); $result = mysql_query("SELECT DISTINCT theme FROM goods WHERE category='{$_POST['category']}' ORDER BY theme DESC"); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)){ echo '<input type="text" class="hidden" name="theme" id="theme" value="' . $row['theme'] . '" ><input type="button" class="button3" name="product" id="product" value="' . $row['product'] . '" onClick="loadXMLDoc2(\'getShow.php\',\'txtHint\',\'theme=\'+encodeURI(document.getElementById(\'rtheme\').value))" > '; } echo '<br /><br /> <div id="txtHint"><div> <br /> <br />'; mysql_close($con); ?> And getShow.php produces a table with a list of product images, names and prices, based on theme. So basically not sure where I am going wrong here? Hi Guys, I am new at JavaScript and start to do some tutorials. What I am trying to do here is prompting user to input a name and if the name was valid the page(document) will display with all objects like the button. But if user enter a wrong name then the button will be disabled! I create the following code but it did not work <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>New Web Project</title> <script language="JavaScript" type=""> function changeColor(){ document.bgColor = "Gray"; } </script> </head> <body> <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"> var person = ""; person = prompt('What is Your Name:'); if (person == "Foo") { document.write("<h1 />Welcome " + person); document.bgColor = "Yellow"; } else { document.write("<h1 />Access Denied!!!!"); document.bgColor = "Red"; document.getElementById("gree").disabled = true; } </script> <div> <p/><input id="gree" type="button" value="Gray " onClick="changeColor();"> </div> </body> </html> as you can see I used the: document.getElementById("gree").disabled = true; but it did not work , could you please give an idea how I can solve this problem? Thanks i am trying to achieve a JS driven button for a cms. for example i have a text in a textarea so i select the text and add the bold attribute to this text. my text before : text my text with bold added : <b>text</b> what the function to achieve this ? thanks Trying to build a timer for an image array, it works, I've created also a stopTimer on hover event. But, what I wish to do Is create buttons so the users can press previous or next and see the sliding images as they wish. here'S my code so far : <script type="text/javascript"> var currPic=1; var totPics=8; var keepTime; function setupPicChange() { keepTime=setTimeout("changePic()", 15000); } function changePic() { currPic++; if(currPic>totPics) currPic=1; document.getElementById("picture").src="/images/services/picture"+currPic+".png"; setupPicChange(); } function stopTimer() { clearTimeout(keepTime); } function startTimer() { keepTime=setTimeout("changePic()", 5000); } function prevTimer() { currPic-1 } function nextTimer() {currPic+1} </script> I've created the nextTimer and prevTimer functions but they do not seem to work. I do not know how to integrated these functions in CSS sor my button, which are designed with CSS hover, down and active states... can you guys help me out ? am pretty basic here with codes... hello everyone I am working on a quiz which marks the user and displays to different screens when the total has been calculated. If the user gets over 80% a congratulations page is shown but if you score less your told to go back and look at some of the material again. I would like the congratulations page to show a button to let the users continue on to the next section of the tutorial. Does any one have any ideas how I could do this? im stumped. I have inserted the code below, any help would be much appreciated as I'm a little stuck :/ Code: // Function to create arrays. function makeArray(len) { for (var i = 0; i < len; i++) this[i] = null; this.length = len; } // creates objects for this question. function makeQuestion(question, correctAnswer) { var args = makeQuestion.arguments; this.question = question; this.correctAnswer = correctAnswer; this.userAnswer = null; this.isCorrect = isCorrect; this.showForm = showForm; this.userChoices = new makeArray(args.length - 2); for (var i = 0; i < args.length - 2; i++) { this.userChoices[i] = args[i + 2]; } } // determins if the questions answered correctly function isCorrect() { if (this.correctAnswer == this.userAnswer) return true; else return false; } // Method to display contents of question object. function showForm(n) { //argument n is the number of the question. document.write((n + 1) + '. I also have a button that i need coded so that when a user clicks on the button, the script for the slide show slows down the speed of the flicking images slowly over the coarse of ten seconds and stops on an image. How do i go about coding the button in javascript? I hope this makes sense. Thankyou Here is my code so far. var i, imgs, pic; function rotate() { pic.src=imgs[i]; (i===(imgs.length -1))? i=0:i++; setTimeout(rotate,500); } function diceroll() { pic=document.getElementById("yes"); imgs=["photo1.jpg", "photo2.jpg","photo3.jpg","photo4.jpg","photo5.jpg"]; var preload=new Array(); for(i=0;i<imgs.length;i++) { preload[i]=new Image(); preload[i].src=imgs[i]; } i=0; rotate(); } I'm trying to make radiobuttons with a javascript function that gets called when a button is selected to make an image appear depending on what they click. However, after looking it up for a while I have nothing since some tell me to do document.formName.name.value; some tell me to use an id with my buttons and just use a document.getElementByID(""); etc. This is for a project and we havent used parameters yet and I dont know how to implement them in the HTML as well This is my code: function classchoice() { if(document.getElementById('mage') == true) { classtype = "<img class='display' src='mage.jpg'>"; document.getElementById("picture").innerHTML=classtype; } if(document.classes.classes.paladin == true) { classtype = "<img class='display' src='paladin.jpg'>"; document.getElementById("picture").innerHTML=classtype; } if(document.classes.classes.hunter == true) { classtype = "<img class='display' src='hunter.jpg'>"; document.getElementById("picture").innerHTML=classtype; } if(document.classes.classes.rogue == true) { classtype = "<img class='display' src='rogue.jpg'>"; document.getElementById("picture").innerHTML=classtype; } } This is the HTML: <form name="classes"> <input type="radio" name = "classes" id="mage" onmousedown="classChoice();"> <img src = "mage.jpg" /> <input type="radio" name = "classes" id = "Paladin" onmousedown="classChoice();"> <img src = "Paladin.png" /> <input type="radio" name = "classes" id = "hunter" onmousedown="classChoice();"> <img src = "hunter.PNG" /> <input type="radio" name = "classes" id = "rogue" onmousedown="classChoice();"> <img src = "rogue.jpg" /> </form> I hope it's readable because I copy and pasted my code and the indentations are a bit messed up Good afternoon. I'm trying to make it so a 'radio button' in a 'form' will 'collapse' a Div that I have hidden. I'm using the JavaScript to control the collapse, and google's Jquery for the rest of it. here's the code. Code: <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="SpryAssets/collapse.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3.2/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> animatedcollapse.addDiv('test', 'fade=1, group=test, speed=400') animatedcollapse.ontoggle=function($, divobj, state) { //fires each time a DIV is expanded/contracted //$: Access to Jquery //divobj: DOM reference to DIV being expanded/collapsed. Use "divobj.id" to get the ID. //state: "block" or "none", depending on the state. } animatedcollapse.init() </script> </head> and the body code... Code: <form action="myform.php" method="post"> <a id="collapsable" href="javascript:animatedcollapse.toggle('test')"> [+] Testing the Collapsability of this Scripting.</a> <div id="test" style="display:none;"> <h1> You can see that if you toggle the 'Image Display' Button. This will display Properly.</h1> </div> </form> You can find a completely working version (When not using Radio buttons and forms) located at My Toggle Works Here. Alternatively, you can find the NON working version, which is what I'm attempting to get to work, located at My Toggle Doesn't Work. you can see that in the version that doesn't work, if you hit the 'Radio button', it will collapse, and immediately uncollapse the Div, I don't get why it does this. Any help is greatly appreciated. Hi all. Can someone tell me why I can select both HTML AND another radio button, but when I unselect, and select a # of 1 through 4, I can switch between the radio buttons, but I can't if I select HTML first? Also, what's wrong w/ this code? Code: <html> <head> <title>Webpage Teacher - V 1.0</title> </head> <body> <script> // set the radio button with the given value as being checked // do nothing if there are no radio buttons // if the given value does not exist, all the radio buttons // are reset to unchecked function setCheckedValue(radioObj, newValue) { if(!radioObj) return; var radioLength = radioObj.length; if(radioLength == undefined) { radioObj.checked = (radioObj.value == newValue.toString()); return; } for(var i = 0; i < radioLength; i++) { radioObj[i].checked = false; if(radioObj[i].value == newValue.toString()) { radioObj[i].checked = true; } } } function getCheckedValue(radioObj) { if(!radioObj) return ""; var radioLength = radioObj.length; if(radioLength == undefined) if(radioObj.checked) return radioObj.value; else return ""; for(var i = 0; i < radioLength; i++) { if(radioObj[i].checked) { return radioObj[i].value; } } return ""; } </script> <form name="radioExampleForm" method="get" action=""> <p> <label for="code1"><input type="radio" value="HTML" name="code" id="code1"> HTML</label> <label for="number0"><input type="radio" value="0" name="number" id="number0"> Zero</label> <label for="number1"><input type="radio" value="1" name="number" id="number1"> One</label> <label for="number2"><input type="radio" value="2" name="number" id="number2"> Two</label> <label for="number3"><input type="radio" value="3" name="number" id="number3"> Three</label> <label for="number4"><input type="radio" value="4" name="number" id="number4"> Four</label> </p> <p> <script> var thevar=''; if(document.forms['radioExampleForm'].elements['number']){ thevar='number'; }else{ thevar='code'; } document.write('' +'<input type="button" onclick="alert(\'Checked value is: '+getCheckedValue(document.forms[\'radioExampleForm\'].elements[\''+thevar+'\']));" value="Show Checked Value">'); </script> <input type="button" onclick="setCheckedValue(document.forms['radioExampleForm'].elements['code'], 'HTML');" value="Set Checked to HTML"> <input type="button" onclick="setCheckedValue(document.forms['radioExampleForm'].elements['number'], '1');" value="Set Checked to One"> <input type="button" onclick="setCheckedValue(document.forms['radioExampleForm'].elements['number'], '2');" value="Set Checked to Two"> <input type="button" onclick="setCheckedValue(document.forms['radioExampleForm'].elements['number'], '3');" value="Set Checked to Three"> <input type="button" onclick="setCheckedValue(document.forms['radioExampleForm'].elements['number'], '4');" value="Set Checked to Four"> <input type="button" onclick="setCheckedValue(document.forms['radioExampleForm'].elements['number'], ''),setCheckedValue(document.forms['radioExampleForm'].elements['code'],'');" value="Uncheck All"> </p> </form> </body> </html> I simply want it to display the Check Value button and detect 2 different id's for 2 different radio buttons (which is 'code' and 'number') Thanks! when creating a button with javascript, is it possible to change the blue color when you mouse over it? I know its a stupid question but I am curious... I'm new to this javascript stuff..
