JavaScript - Create Scrolling Rss Feed From .aspx Page
Hi,
I have an .aspx page which the author claims to be an RSS feed (http://gcn.com/rss-feeds/state-local.aspx). It is simply a list of links with a description for each. I am trying to embed these links into an RSS feed on my own page. I am using code from http://www.mioplanet.com/rsc/newsticker_javascript.htm to create the scrolling ticker. Do I need to do something to convert the .aspx page to an RSS feed? Please help. Thanks. Similar Tutorials-Please delete- will make another thread with simpler explanation. Hi I'm looking for a simple ticker that scrolls horizontally across the top of the homepage of a site I'm working on. Ideally I would like one for both Twitter and RSS feeds, but either is good. If anyone knows where I can find one that's simple to implement that would be great. Kind Regards I need to develop a scrolling price ticker, which shows live price quotes and retrieves data through PHP file and that retrieves from back end server. That ticker should have an Embed function also like a Widget, so other blog, websites, they can put the live quotes ticker also. How to be able to create charts, with a selection of different time-frames, and currency pairs. And it should also has Embed feature like a widget. I need this to be Done Quickly.. So need your help please.. Thanks Its about this: http://www.wduffy.co.uk/blog/keep-el...omment-page-1/ Everywhere is used for a whole div on some side and when its on the top of the page. But what if its in the middle..? Look here - http://phpbb.bg/viewtopic.php?f=14&p=1013#p1013 Scroll down and then up.Anyway to fix this? FYI http://www.hotscripts.com/forums/jav...croll-how.html Hi there, and happy new year. I am looking for a javascript code with the effect used by Google in the following example; http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=che...ient=firefox-a ... whereby the map scrolls with the page once it has been reached by the top of the browser. If anyone could point me in the right direction I would be very grateful. Many Thanks, Patrick. Hi, I am new to javascript, this is my first time using it, I am wishing to have 2 buttons on my website, one that scrolls to the bottom of my page when clicked and then stops at the bottom and one that scrolls back up the page when clicked, but I want my viewers to be able to see this movement. I have some code (below) which works fine in firefox but it doesn't work in explorer, and I can't get this code to work moving upwards (after taking away the minus from -50). Can anybody please help me I have been battling for days trying to make it work although I am finding it hard to understand javascript being a first time user. I currently have this javascript : [CODE] <head> <script language="JavaScript"> function pageScrollup() { window.scrollBy(0,-50); // horizontal and vertical scroll increments if (window.pageYOffset) { scrolldelay = setTimeout('pageScrollup()',5); } } </script> </head> <body> <a href="JavaScriptageScrollup()">Back to Top</a> </body>[ICODE] Any help is greatly appreciated. OrangeAnt Hi, I have some javascript that I am using to get information from a SharePoint Site Options table (name and value) and I am adding this to my sharepoint sites (headers, title bar etc.). the javascript code in the heading of the document is as follows: Code: <script language="'javascript'" type="text/javascript"> //wait until client object model dependencies are loaded before executing our code ExecuteOrDelayUntilScriptLoaded(getWebProperties, "sp.js"); var webProperties; function getvalue(value) { return webProperties.get_item((value)); } function getWebProperties() { var clientContext = new SP.ClientContext.get_current(); webProperties = clientContext.get_web().get_allProperties(); clientContext.load(webProperties); clientContext.executeQueryAsync(Function.createDelegate(this, this.getWebPropertiesSucceeded), Function.createDelegate(this, this.onQueryFailed)); } function getWebPropertiesSucceeded() { var allProps = webProperties.get_fieldValues(); document.getElementById('lblName').innerHTML= webProperties.get_item('ProjectName'); document.getElementById('link').innerHTML= webProperties.get_item('siteURL'); var customProp = ""; //make sure the property is there before using it. if(webProperties.get_fieldValues().CustomSite_Version != undefined) { var customProp = webProperties.get_fieldValues().CustomSite_Version; } } function onQueryFailed(args, sender) { //handle errors here } </script> Could it be because I am trying to call two sets of values in a row? I have the following lines: Code: document.getElementById('lblName').innerHTML= webProperties.get_item('ProjectName'); document.getElementById('link').innerHTML= webProperties.get_item('siteURL'); and maybe it is because I am trying to get more than one set of information? now in the aspx part of the document, I want to call one of the variables in a couple of places and I am using this: Code: <div id="lblName"></div> It works great in the first instance but when I try to use it again, it doesn't show up and I don't know why. If I delete the first one, it shows up in the second location. does anyone who is a programmer see where I may be going wrong? Our SharePoint programmer quit and I am now in the frying pan so to speak. thanks all. I am using the following code from this site... http://www.javascriptkit.com/script/...selector.shtml but for some reason if the page is long the whole page scrolls up so the top of the calendar is at the top of the browser, which actually hides the box that the date will end up in. can anyone see how I can alter the code so that the page does not scroll up, but have the calendar show just below the box that the date will go in and the page does not scroll? here is the full code that I am using to test this out with. Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> <html> <head> <title>Untitled Document</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <style type="text/css"> .ds_box { background-color: #FFF; border: 1px solid #000; position: absolute; z-index: 32767; } .ds_tbl { background-color: #FFF; } .ds_head { background-color: #333; color: #FFF; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; font-weight: bold; text-align: center; letter-spacing: 2px; } .ds_subhead { background-color: #CCC; color: #000; font-size: 12px; font-weight: bold; text-align: center; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; width: 32px; } .ds_cell { background-color: #EEE; color: #000; font-size: 13px; text-align: center; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; padding: 5px; cursor: pointer; } .ds_cell:hover { background-color: #F3F3F3; } /* This hover code won't work for IE */ </style> </head> <body> <table class="ds_box" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" id="ds_conclass" style="display: none;"> <tr><td id="ds_calclass"> </td></tr> </table> <script> // <!-- <![CDATA[ // Project: Dynamic Date Selector (DtTvB) - 2006-03-16 // Script featured on JavaScript Kit- http://www.javascriptkit.com // Code begin... // Set the initial date. var ds_i_date = new Date(); ds_c_month = ds_i_date.getMonth() + 1; ds_c_year = ds_i_date.getFullYear(); // Get Element By Id function ds_getel(id) { return document.getElementById(id); } // Get the left and the top of the element. function ds_getleft(el) { var tmp = el.offsetLeft; el = el.offsetParent while(el) { tmp += el.offsetLeft; el = el.offsetParent; } return tmp; } function ds_gettop(el) { var tmp = el.offsetTop; el = el.offsetParent while(el) { tmp += el.offsetTop; el = el.offsetParent; } return tmp; } // Output Element var ds_oe = ds_getel('ds_calclass'); // Container var ds_ce = ds_getel('ds_conclass'); // Output Buffering var ds_ob = ''; function ds_ob_clean() { ds_ob = ''; } function ds_ob_flush() { ds_oe.innerHTML = ds_ob; ds_ob_clean(); } function ds_echo(t) { ds_ob += t; } var ds_element; // Text Element... var ds_monthnames = [ 'January', 'February', 'March', 'April', 'May', 'June', 'July', 'August', 'September', 'October', 'November', 'December' ]; // You can translate it for your language. var ds_daynames = [ 'Sun', 'Mon', 'Tue', 'Wed', 'Thu', 'Fri', 'Sat' ]; // You can translate it for your language. // Calendar template function ds_template_main_above(t) { return '<table cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1" class="ds_tbl">' + '<tr>' + '<td class="ds_head" style="cursor: pointer" onclick="ds_py();"><<</td>' + '<td class="ds_head" style="cursor: pointer" onclick="ds_pm();"><</td>' + '<td class="ds_head" style="cursor: pointer" onclick="ds_hi();" colspan="3">[Close]</td>' + '<td class="ds_head" style="cursor: pointer" onclick="ds_nm();">></td>' + '<td class="ds_head" style="cursor: pointer" onclick="ds_ny();">>></td>' + '</tr>' + '<tr>' + '<td colspan="7" class="ds_head">' + t + '</td>' + '</tr>' + '<tr>'; } function ds_template_day_row(t) { return '<td class="ds_subhead">' + t + '</td>'; // Define width in CSS, XHTML 1.0 Strict doesn't have width property for it. } function ds_template_new_week() { return '</tr><tr>'; } function ds_template_blank_cell(colspan) { return '<td colspan="' + colspan + '"></td>' } function ds_template_day(d, m, y) { return '<td class="ds_cell" onclick="ds_onclick(' + d + ',' + m + ',' + y + ')">' + d + '</td>'; // Define width the day row. } function ds_template_main_below() { return '</tr>' + '</table>'; } // This one draws calendar... function ds_draw_calendar(m, y) { // First clean the output buffer. ds_ob_clean(); // Here we go, do the header ds_echo (ds_template_main_above(ds_monthnames[m - 1] + ' ' + y)); for (i = 0; i < 7; i ++) { ds_echo (ds_template_day_row(ds_daynames[i])); } // Make a date object. var ds_dc_date = new Date(); ds_dc_date.setMonth(m - 1); ds_dc_date.setFullYear(y); ds_dc_date.setDate(1); if (m == 1 || m == 3 || m == 5 || m == 7 || m == 8 || m == 10 || m == 12) { days = 31; } else if (m == 4 || m == 6 || m == 9 || m == 11) { days = 30; } else { days = (y % 4 == 0) ? When I scroll down in the web page and the meta refresh hits, in Windows Safari and IE6/7/8 browsers, the web page re-positions back to the top. Thanks... hello everyone im coding a website at the moment using aspx and i have came to a snag. im trying to make a dropdown list which is populated by an array call my chaletDetails.aspx page - each item in the array will be directed to this page. ive diffled abit, but the more i do the more im afraid of breaking something lol. if someone could maybe look at the code and show me how this could be achieved id appriciate it very much. The code i have for my dropdown list is as follows... this is in divResorts.js var resorts = new Array("Adelboden", "Auron", "Oppdal", "Las Lenas", "La Pierre St Martin", "Val Ceneis", "Les Menuires", "Champex-Lac", "Puy St Vincent"); function populateSelectList() { var mystring = document.getElementById('divResort').innerHTML mystring += "<h4>Our Resorts</h4><select name='resorts'>" mystring += "<option>Choose a Resort</option>" for (i = 0; i < resorts.length; i++) { mystring += "<option value='" + resorts[i] + "'>" mystring += resorts[i] + "</option>" } mystring += "</select>" mystring += "<h4>Our Chalets</h4>" document.getElementById('divResort').innerHTML = mystring } within the body i have this called as: <div id="divResort"> <script type="text/javascript">populateSelectList();</script> </div> Hello, I want to create a page that allows the user to select 2 images as options, when they click one, a new page is dynamically loaded with a list of options they can choose again (like a sublevel of the image they clicked on). From there it will just continue moving down like a hierachy Can someone help me with the basic script forthis to work so i can mess with it and edit it to my needs ^ Thank you in advance Hi, I'm quite new at Javascript and I'm trying to create a script that will save me a lot of time when creating my website. I'm gonna try to explain what I'm looking for by taking a simple example. I have a page 'Portfolio'. On this page I have thumbnails of my work. 'OnMouseOver' will have the bigger version of the image appear on the screen (no need for a click). The images are named 1001, 1002, 1003, etc. The thumbs are named 1001_th, 1002_th, etc. When I click on one of the thumbnails, I want the page "Details" to open, on which only the picture and the description is different for every project. The rest of the content will be the same every time. What I am trying to do is avoid having to create a page "Details" for each one of my projects (up to 100 and growing). I figure there must be a simple solution to 'take' the number of the picture and put it in a standard "Details" page. Any help on this will be much appreciated! Thanks, M. Hi all, am trying to create a page which will automatically scroll to the bottom, then go back to the top and start again. im very new to javascript and have done my best to peice together bits of scripts that do simular things the code below is what ive managed to come up with, it sort of works but am sure is full of mistakes Code: <SCRIPT type='text/javascript'> var CurrentScroll=0; var maxDisplacement=0; function pageReset() { CurrentScroll=0; window.scrollTo(0,0); } function pageScroll() { window.scrollTo(0,10000000); if( typeof self.pageYOffset!='undefined' ){ maxDisplacement=self.pageYOffset; } if( document.compatMode && document.compatMode != 'BackCompat' ){ maxDisplacement=document.documentElement.scrollTop ; } if( document.body && typeof(document.body.scrollTop)!='undefined' ){ maxDisplacement=document.body.scrollTop; window.scrollTo(0,0); } while(CurrentScroll <= maxDisplacement){ window.scrollBy(0,1); // horizontal and vertical scroll increments scrolldelay = setTimeout('pageScroll()',100); // scrolls every 100 milliseconds CurrentScroll = (CurrentScroll + 1); } if(CurrentScroll == maxDisplacement){ pageReset(); } } </SCRIPT> if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance Scoob I would like to create a link from one page to another. Easy - I know. But I would like that link to to take me to a certain part of the other page, specifically towards the bottom of the page. Is that possible to do? And if so, what are the different ways I can specify where in the page to go? (i.e. what are the parameters that I can play with) Thanks! I've been told by many reliable sources that getting people to 'like' your site on Facebook is a great way of increasing your site traffic and getting a site ranked higher on Google and other search engines. However, it is hard work to get it implemented correctly. What you want is to have each page individually 'liked' rather than the site as a whole. To do that can take a lot of time-consuming fiddling around. We've created a simple piece of Javascript that allows you to create a custom 'like' button on each page of your site. Because we've had some help from other members with some bits and pieces of Javascript coding, it only seems fair to share something in return. Prerequisites You will need to get a Facebook Application ID from Facebook themselves. This is a unique Application ID for your domain. The easiest way to get one of these is to go to http://developers.facebook.com/docs/.../plugins/like/ and enter the details for your domain. Then click on 'GET CODE' and copy the 15 digit number from #appId. You then paste this into the Javascript as shown below. Adding the Facebook 'like' button to each page - changes to HTML In the <head> section of your HTML, add the following piece of code: Code: <script type="text/javascript" src="SocialMedia.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> FacebookSetup('Your page title goes here', 'image-to-show-on-Facebook.jpg'); </script> At the point on the page where you actually want the 'Like' button to appear, you then add the following piece of code: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> FacebookLike(); </script> The JavaScript Now create a JavaScript file called SocialMedia.js: Code: var facebookAppID = "xxxxxxxxxx" function FacebookSetup(title, image) { var url=window.location.host + window.location.pathname; document.write("<meta property='og:title' content='" + title + "' />"); document.write("<meta property='og:type' content='article' />"); document.write("<meta property='og:url' content='" + url + "' />"); document.write("<meta property='og:image' content='" + hostname + "/images/" + image + "' />"); document.write("<meta property='og:site_name' content='" + sitename + "' />"); document.write("<meta property='fb:admins' content='" + facebookAppID + "' />"); } function FacebookLike() { var facebook="http://www.facebook.com/plugins/like.php?href=" + url + "&layout=standard&show_faces=false&width=250&action=like&font&colorscheme=light&height=35"; document.write("<iframe src=" + facebook + " scrolling=no height=35 frameborder=0 style=border:none; overflow:hidden; width:250px; height:35px; allowTransparency=true></iframe>"); } Change the value in the variable facebookAppId on line one to your Application ID (as explained in the prerequisites section above). What happens once you've implemented this? Once you've implemented this, you should see a LIKE button on your page. If you are a Facebook user and have cookies set to always log you in, you'll find that when you click on this LIKE button, a link to your page will appear on your Facebook page, along with a thumbnail photograph as specified by you when you called FacebookSetup in your HTML code. Other people who follow you on Facebook will then also have the link to your site appearing on their News Feed. If you are not logged in when you click on the LIKE button, you will be prompted to log on to Facebook before the information appears on your News Feed. What are the benefits of using JavaScript to do this, rather than writing the HTML code for each page? Many sites have created a blanket site-wide 'LIKE' button and embedded it into their HTML. Whilst this is easy, it is limiting - the LIKE button always has the same title, the same picture and sends you to the same page on your website. Of course, it is possible to write custom HTML for each page, but this can soon get messy and then becomes more difficult to maintain. As an alternative, this JavaScript is simple and tidy. The code makes it simple to create unique Facebook 'likes' for each page, with custom text and custom images. It also keeps your HTML tidy, thereby making it easy to maintain in the future. Hope this helps, folks. I want to use javasript to create a new html page named from a text field in a form. Then I want to use javasript to copy all of the form fields to the new html page that was created using javascripting. I am creating a user are using a Javascript password login. With most of them the page is the user name or password. So this is why I am looking to do this. I use web 1000 a free host and they will only let me use javascripting. Any info or help would be great thank you
I'm trying to get two RSS feeds to display on a page. I'm trying to be good about it and re-use the same code for each by calling the function twice using different parameters for the feed url, feed limit (number of posts to display), and which div to display the output in (cupcake-feed and pie-feed). It works for either of the two feeds, but not both at the same time. If I try calling both, only the second one displays. If I pick just one to call, either one will display. I'm new to object-oriented concepts (if that's even what you would call this?). What am I doing wrong here? In the below code, if I say var samples = <?php $url_code ?>, the javascript does not recognize. Can someone help on this, as I use the same PHP code, with different url feeds, to display different picasa photo albums ? Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function load() { var samples = "https://picasaweb.google.com/data/feed/base/user/......................../........./.........?alt=rss&kind=photo&authkey=.....................&hl=en_US" var options = { numresults: 2, scaleimages: true, maintainAspectRatio : false, displayTime: 1000, transistionTime: 300, //linkTarget : google.feeds.LINK_TARGET_BLANK }; new GFslideShow(samples, "slideshow", options); } google.load("feeds", "1"); google.setOnLoadCallback(load); </script> |
