Basically, I have rating scales that make use of radio buttons as each point on the scale. Each radio button occupies its own cell in a table. I wrote some functions that will highlight cells on mouseover in a color corresponding to its position on the scale (e.g. the lowest point is red, the midpoint is yellow, the highest point is green). When a radio button is clicked, the background of the button's cell and preceding cells in the same row will be colored accordingly. The functions are working well in FireFox and Chrome (I just have to add a few lines using the addEvent function to make it compatible with IE). The effect looks a lot nicer when I add a function that makes the visibility of the radio buttons hidden. However, I want to make sure that there is a fallback option in case the functions that color the cells don't work for whatever reason. I would not want the radio buttons hidden in this case. Is there a method whereby I can call the "hideRadiobuttons" function only if the other functions are successfully executed? Hi, The Problem I get a error message only in IE when ever I try to call a function from an external file. I am using jQuery if that makes any difference and various plugins. Quote: Error: The value of the property '<function name>' is null or undefined, not a Function object. All the call work fine in FF, chrome, safari etc but for some reason I just can't get it to work with IE. This is getting annoying now, i have no idea what is causing it. here is an example: admin.js Code: function create_cleditor_admin_form(textarea_object) { $(textarea_object).cleditor({ height: 120, controls: // controls to add to the toolbar "bold italic underline | color highlight removeformat | bullets numbering | alignleft center alignright justify | undo redo | ", useCSS: false }); } calling code Code: $(document).ready(function() { try { create_cleditor_admin_form('textarea'); } catch(e) { alert("Error: "+e.message); } }); I have tried searching for this error on google and came up empty handed, surely it just something very stupid. Thanks in advance Eagle eyes needed! I have a function which is called twice. It allows the elements of an array to be set to a different color, successively: Code: function ln8 (arrayA,color, current) { var arrayB=(typeof arrayA == 'string')? arrayA.split(',') : arrayA; var line = document.getElementById(arrayB[current]); line.style.color = color; if (current != arrayB.length - 1) { current++; setTimeout(function() {ln8(arrayB, color, current)},8) } } It works fine the first call; the second time, FF throws an error message: 'line is null' referring to 'line.style.color = color;'. It's used in a switch function, and I've tested each case of the switch, two browsers, and still get the error. So I'm assuming the second call is the problem, but I just can't see what's wrong with it. Maybe before you wade through the code, can you think of other reasons for the error? First call: the function is at the third line of each case: Code: function makeLine5() { var a = Coin1() var b = Coin2() var c = Coin3() var h = ( a + b + c ) A=a;B=b;C=c;D=h; switch(h) { case 6: noHex2(5,'D'); noHex(Hex5Yang,'hidden',0); nodot(5, 4, 'e'); setTimeout('report5()',3000); setTimeout('ln8(Line5Yin,\'#e11\',0)',6000); setTimeout('dot(5, 4, \'f\')',10000); return false; break case 7: noHex2(5,'D'); noHex(Hex5Yin,'hidden',0); setTimeout('report5()',3000); setTimeout('ln8(Line5Yang,\'#e11\',0)',6000); return false; break case 8: noHex2(5,'C'); noHex(Hex5Yang,'hidden',0); setTimeout('report5()',3000); setTimeout('ln8(Line5Yin,\'#e11\',0)',6000); return false; break default: noHex2(5,'C'); noHex(Hex5Yin,'hidden',0);nodot(5, 4, 'f'); setTimeout('report5()',3000); setTimeout('ln8(Line5Yang,\'#e11\',0)',6000); setTimeout('dot(5, 4, \'e\')',10000); return false; } } second call: Code: function makeLine6() { var a = Coin1() var b = Coin2() var c = Coin3() var k = ( a + b + c ) A=a;B=b;C=c;D=k; switch(k) { case 6: noHex2(6,'D'); noHex(Hex6Yang,'hidden',0);nodot(6, 5, 'e'); setTimeout('report6()',3000); setTimeout('ln8(Line6Yin,\'#e11\')',6000); setTimeout('dot(6, 5, \'f\')',10000); setTimeout('lastBitz()',13000); return false; break case 7: noHex2(6,'D'); noHex(Hex6Yin,'hidden',0); setTimeout('report6()',3000); setTimeout('ln8(Line6Yang,\'#e11\')',6000); setTimeout('lastBitz()',13000); return false; break case 8: noHex2(6,'C'); noHex(Hex6Yang,'hidden',0); setTimeout('report6()',3000); setTimeout('ln8(Line6Yin,\'#e11\')',6000); setTimeout('lastBitz()',13000); return false; break default: noHex2(6,'C'); noHex(Hex6Yin,'hidden',0);nodot(6, 5, 'f'); setTimeout('report6()',3000); setTimeout('ln8(Line6Yang,\'#e11\')',6000); setTimeout('dot(6, 5, \'e\')',10000); setTimeout('lastBitz()',13000); return false;} } The Javascript function change() in not getting called by onClick event of button Click Me ,JavaScript array size has been created in PHP Code: <html> <head> <title>Untitled Document</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> function change() { alert(size[1][0]); } </script> </head> <body> <script language="javascript"> var size = new Array(); var = count; for (count = 0; count < 5; count++) size[count] = new Array(); size[0][0] = 600; size[0][1] = 400; size[1][0] = 300; size[1][1] = 400; size[2][0] = 300; size[2][1] = 400; size[3][0] = 600; size[3][1] = 400; size[4][0] = 300; size[4][1] = 400; </script> <input type="button" value="Click Me" onClick="change()"/> </body> </html> Anything wrong with my coding, any kind support will be apreciated. I am coding an actionscript app and need to call javascript function in page that embeds the swf file. I am doing this as Action Script 2.0 and am testing in Firefox 1.5 x (flash pluggin version 7) I am getting the following error message: (not part of the error text) re object/embed id/name _DoFSCommand(command, args) (.swf/actionscript call to javascript) in Firefox/1.5.0.3 on Mac OS 10.3x (error text-- from FF javascript console) Error: plugin.SetWindow is not a function Source File: javascript: function jsScriptObject(obj) { this.wrappedJSObject = obj; } jsScriptObject.prototype = { evaluate : function(expression) { return new jsScriptObject(eval(expression)); } }; var plugin = document.embeds['SWFO']; plugin.SetWindow(new jsScriptObject(window),879801055); Line: 1 This set up works in version 10 flash pluggin, as is, in Firefox 3.5.2 Can anyone give me a clue about this? A little further info to possibly save someone some time: I am working on an actionscript 3.0 version that uses externalInterface in Action Script, so I don't need advice to upgrade. I am trying to target older browsers as well as newer ones. Thank you for time and attention; JK Hi Guys, I am trying to make a change to my website so when someone clicks on the chinese flag image, for example, a function which put the clock forward a few hours. This is what the code I have got at the moment: <td><a href="<? echo $_SERVER[PHP_SELF].'?page='.$page.'&lang=en'; ?>"><img src="images/uk.gif" title="english" border=0></a></td> <td><a href="<? echo $_SERVER[PHP_SELF].'?page='.$page.'&lang=zh'; ?>"><img src="images/ch.gif" title="chinese" onclick="chinatime()" border=0></a></td> <td><a href="<? echo $_SERVER[PHP_SELF].'?page='.$page.'&lang=ja'; ?>"><img src="images/jap.gif" title="japanese" border=0></a></td> <td><a href="<? echo $_SERVER[PHP_SELF].'?page='.$page.'&lang=kk'; ?>"><img src="images/kaz.gif" title="kazakh" border=0></a></td> <td><a href="<? echo $_SERVER[PHP_SELF].'?page='.$page.'&lang='.$most_preferred; ?>">Browser Set</a></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="5"> <p class="meta"><span class="date"><script type="text/javascript"> var currentTime = new Date() var minutes = currentTime.getMinutes() var hours = currentTime.getHours() var month = currentTime.getMonth() + 1 var day = currentTime.getDate() var year = currentTime.getFullYear() function chinatime() { hours = hours + 5 } if (minutes < 10) minutes = "0" + minutes document.write(day + "/" + month + "/" + year + " " + hours +":"+minutes) </script> Many Thanks Hi I have a requirement that from a different domain I will be calling my domain javascript adn calling the fucntion of it directly. I dont want to ask the partner site first download the js and then call the function of it. rather I have seen someplaces they just call the js on links and functions are called directly. in my partner site html I should have something like <a href="http://www.mydomain.com/inc/js/abc.js" >call js </a> and my js will have: function hi(){ alert("hi"); } hi(); so I was expecting that I will see an alert with "hi" but this is not happening. any help mjask I have two password fields on a webpage form. If the passwords don't match, I want to display a message. I could use a popup, I could redirect to a page containing the message with another redirect back to the form or, the option I'd like to use, have a hidden table cell in the form containing the message that displays should the form be submitted without matching passwords. If I use the latter, where do I call the javascript function to display the hidden table cell? So in effect, only javascript function would execute if the passwords don't match, the action page itself shouldn't load at all. Can/should this be done on the action page?

In other words if I have <span id="mySpan">Bronze</span> then it will call a javascript function but if I have <span id="mySpan">Silver</span> then it will call a different function? Thanks! which is the real difference between: <script> alert('hello'); </script> and <script> function hi() {alert('hello');} </script> thanks in advance makerjoe Hi everyone, I'm using a JavaScript to upload multiple files, namely this one: http://valums.com/ajax-upload/ The script has the ability to post additional parameters to the server, by calling the function setParams Code: var doktyp = "default"; var uploader = new qq.FileUploader({ element: document.getElementById('file-uploader-scope'), action: 'uploads.php', // additional data to send, name-value pairs debug: true, onSubmit: uploader.setParams ({ dateityp: getCheckedValue(document.forms['doktyp'].elements['dateityp']), comment: jQuery('#dateityp').val() }) }); Without the onSubmit: part the script works well and does as it's supposed to, but with it FireBug reports "uploader is undefined" und the script seizes to function. Now JavaScript istn't my strong suit, so I have been reading up on this for the last two hours, tried calling that function from a different place, tried to modify it, but no luck; the error remains the same (or slightly different; if I point at the class in question directly, the function doesnt work...). I would appreciate any advice you could give. Hi, I am hoping I just need to be pointed in the right direction with this. I have Page1. When Page1 body onloads it uses Ajax to call PartA Within PartA I have a message board so members can write messages which will be sent to my database in PartA[1] and immediately posted for view on to PartA[2]. As I want to have my request to the server updating regularly I want to have PartA[2] on a timed loop to refresh - I do not need the content of PartA[1] to refresh. So the order of events would look like this: Page1 | onload call | v PartA / \ V V PartA[1] PartA[2] (loads once) (constantly refreshes) What I am not sure about is that I have <body> and <head> attributes in Page1 only. I have already used my body onload to call PartA (and can't use it to call PartA[2] before PartA has loaded anyway). I do not want the user to have to click a button or do anything to call up PartA[2]. So my question is how would I get PartA[2] to automatically load within PartA? I hope I have made this clear, but if I haven't let me know and I will try again. İ want to use this code but when the page opens, I get a null reference error. When I open the page a second time, this error doesn't occur. I understand when the site caches, this error doesn't occur. The error comes from tb_show function. My code: <script type="text/javascript"> function writeCookie(CookieAdi) { var dtGun = 1 var strValue = "1" if (dtGun == null || dtGun == "") dtGun = 365; var d = new Date(); d.setTime(d.getTime() + (dtGun * 24 * 60 * 60 * 1000)); var zt = "; expires=" + d.toGMTString(); document.cookie = CookieAdi + "=" + strValue + zt + "; path=/"; } function readCookie(cookieadi) { var c = document.cookie; if (c.indexOf(cookieadi) != -1) { s1 = c.indexOf("=", c.indexOf(cookieadi)) + 1; s2 = c.indexOf(";", s1); if (s2 == -1) s2 = c.length; strValue = c.substring(s1, s2); return strValue; } } writeCookie('OnerFacebook'); if (readCookie('OnerFacebook') != 1) { tb_show('', 'http://www.mobilyala.com/OnerFacebook/?KeepThis=true&TB_iframe=true&height=500&width=300&modal=true', ''); } </script> What should I do for it? |
