JavaScript - Switch Image On Expanded Content.
Hey guys, Im creating a javascript content expander and would like to know how to create it so it changed the image from an down arrows to open the box, and a down arrow to close the box.
Here is my current code. Code: <script type="text/javascript"> //var persistmenu="yes" var persisttype="sitewide" if (document.getElementById){ document.write('<style type="text/css">\n') document.write('.submenu{display: none;}\n') document.write('</style>\n') } function SwitchMenu(obj){ if(document.getElementById){ var el = document.getElementById(obj); var ar = document.getElementById("masterdiv").getElementsByTagName("span"); if(el.style.display != "block"){ for (var i=0; i<ar.length; i++){ if (ar[i].className=="submenu") ar[i].style.display = "none"; } el.style.display = "block"; }else{ el.style.display = "none"; } } } function get_cookie(Name) { var search = Name + "=" var returnvalue = ""; if (document.cookie.length > 0) { offset = document.cookie.indexOf(search) if (offset != -1) { offset += search.length end = document.cookie.indexOf(";", offset); if (end == -1) end = document.cookie.length; returnvalue=unescape(document.cookie.substring(offset, end)) } } return returnvalue; } function onloadfunction(){ if (persistmenu=="yes"){ var cookiename=(persisttype=="sitewide")? "switchmenu" : window.location.pathname var cookievalue=get_cookie(cookiename) if (cookievalue!="") document.getElementById(cookievalue).style.display="block" } } function savemenustate(){ var inc=1, blockid="" while (document.getElementById("sub"+inc)){ if (document.getElementById("sub"+inc).style.display=="block"){ blockid="sub"+inc break } inc++ } var cookiename=(persisttype=="sitewide")? "switchmenu" : window.location.pathname var cookievalue=(persisttype=="sitewide")? blockid+";path=/" : blockid document.cookie=cookiename+"="+cookievalue } if (window.addEventListener) window.addEventListener("load", onloadfunction, false) else if (window.attachEvent) window.attachEvent("onload", onloadfunction) else if (document.getElementById) window.onload=onloadfunction if (persistmenu=="yes" && document.getElementById) window.onunload=savemenustate </script> <style type="text/css"> .sectionHeadernews .plaquenews { background: url(../layout/section_header_plaque_medium.png) center no-repeat; } .sectionHeadernews .plaquenews, .sectionHeaderchat .plaque_medium, .sectionHeaderchat .plaque_large { height: 26px; text-align:center overflow: hidden; line-height: 25px; font-size: 14px; font-family: Palatino Linotype, Book Antiqua, Palatino, Times New Roman, Times, serif; font-weight: bold; font-variant: small-caps; color: #30291f; } .sectionHeadernews { background: #bd9c5a url(../layout/section_header_bg.png) top repeat-x; width: 754px; } .sectionHeadernews .leftnews { background: url(../layout/section_header_left_news.png) left no-repeat; } .sectionHeadernews .rightnews { background: url(../layout/section_header_right_news.png) right no-repeat; } </style> <div class="sectionHeadernews"> <div class="leftnews"> <div class="rightnews" onclick="SwitchMenu('sub1')" > <div class="plaquenews"> Click to view current website news </div> </div> </div> </div> I want the <div class="rightnews"> thing to change from an up arrow to a down arrow. Here are the icons im using. For the box to contract: for the box to expand. If someone could help me out by adding the code so the images switch would be great! Is there anyway to prevent the viewer's position from changing when room is made for the expanding content? Hello, I'm new to this forum and well... I'm pretty new to JavaScript as well. Here's my problem: I'm trying to create a switch image code that will allow the new image to be a link as well. In the list item where you'll see ('blue.jpg') if I try to make this an anchor tag - it breaks the code. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks for taking a look! Code: <head> <script> function switch1(div) { if (document.getElementById('blue')) { var option=['blue','green','purple']; for(var i=0; i<option.length; i++) { obj=document.getElementById(option[i]); obj.style.display=(option[i]==div)? "block" : "none"; } } } // function switchImg(i){ document.images["blue"].src = i; } </script> <style> #image-switch ul { margin:0 0 0 20px; color:red; list-style-type:none; } #image-switch li { padding:10px; } #image-switch #green, #image-switch #purple { display:none; } #radiobs { width:150px; position:relative; margin:0; } #radiobs input { margin:0; padding:0; position:absolute; margin-left:6em; width:15px; } </style> </head> <div><img src="blue.jpg" id="blue" /></div> <ul id="radiobs"> <li><a href="#n" onclick="switchImg('blue.jpg')"><img src="sample_box_1_fpo.jpg" width="30" height="30" alt="Sample Box 1 Fpo"></a></li> <li><a href="#n" onclick="switchImg('green.jpg')"><img src="sample_box_2_fpo.jpg" width="30" height="30" alt="Sample Box 1 Fpo"></a></li> <li><a href="#n" onclick="switchImg('purple.jpg')"><img src="sample_box_3_fpo.jpg" width="30" height="30" alt="Sample Box 1 Fpo"></a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="clear"></div> I know theres a lot of codes out there online for this but I cannot seem to get any of them to work for me. I am trying to make my layout for an item page for an online store. I'd like one big image, with one or 2 thumbnails under it which when clicked will switch the big image. Clicked, not mouseover. Lets say my big images would be REG1.jpg and REG2.jpg, the first being the image on the page that will switch. THUMB1.jpg and THUMB2.jpg being the thumbnails. Is there a simple way to do this or is the code a complete mess like I've been seeing on so many pages? I'd say I have an intermediate understanding of HTML and I've just started teaching myself javascript but I'm starting to fall off the wagon, I can't decipher the stuff coming up in these example codes. Any help would be thoroughly appreciated!! My goal is to have one big picture center with 4 smaller pictures to the left that you click on and is target to the center. When you click on the center it will zoom. I haven't worked on it in a few years and not able to find the person who wrote the code. I added the zoom coding to the picture switch. The zoom works fine but when you click the smaller images the image is not viewable. Coding in the head Code: <!--Image Viewer--> <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> <!-- function canManipulateImages() { if (document.images) return true; else return false; } // loadPosterImage function loadPosterImage(imageURL) { if (gImageCapableBrowser) { document.imagePoster.src = imageURL; return false; } else { return true; } } gImageCapableBrowser = canManipulateImages(); // --> </script> <!--End Image Viewer--> <!--Picture Zoom--> <script> // C.2004 by CodeLifter.com var nW,nH,oH,oW; function zoomToggle(iWideSmall,iHighSmall,iWideLarge,iHighLarge, whichImage){ oW=whichImage.style.width;oH=whichImage.style.height; if((oW==iWideLarge)||(oH==iHighLarge)){ nW=iWideSmall;nH=iHighSmall;}else{ nW=iWideLarge;nH=iHighLarge;} whichImage.style.width=nW;whichImage.style.height=nH; } </script> <!--End Picture Zoom--> The body code Code: <!--Picture #4--> <tr> <td><A href="F:\mamies\santa_pic\purple_bottom.gif" onClick="return(loadPosterImage('F:\mamies\santa_pic\purple_bottom.gif'))"> <img src="F:\mamies\santa_pic\purple_bottom.gif" border=1 align=center width=56 height=75></A> </td> </tr> </table> <table align="center" border="1" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="5" height="10" bgcolor="#002152" bordercolor="#980008"> <tr> <!--Image Zoom--> <td><img name="imagePoster" src="F:\mamies\santa_pic\purple_front.gif" border="0" width="354" height="502" onclick="zoomToggle('354px','502px','708px','1004px',this);"> <!--End Image Zoom--> Thanks for your help Charlene Example of my problem: HERE The code is derived from a site offering some advice for javascript: HERE The example of mine tries to use an image as hyperlink... and use mouse events for certain actions. Aside from possibly being the worst javascript code humanly possible...once I slaughtered the code from the site mentioned above, I'm not getting how to arrange things so that a mouse over event switches an image , as does mousedn and mouseup, And (and this is the rub for me) repeating the setup in the same way for a list of quicktime video links. I've got it to work for one row in the table I'm using to attempt some kind of formatting. I'm told `css' is a better way for that but I'm completely ignorant about how to use `css'. So, for now I'm using a table to get at the javascript question. The idea is for viewer to see three red dots at the front of each item being offered. Mouseover is supposed to switch to a green arrow... mousedn is supposed to switch to 2 check marks. I wanted the check marks to persist, so for lack of knowing how to accomplish that... I let mouseup call the same image. (the check marks; Maybe just omitting any directive for mouseup would have the same effect?) About the `image persisting after being clicked' question: It is really a separate question so I will probably start a different thread for that. What I've done works for one list item... but fails for more than one. The only active member of the list (2 in my example) is the bottom one. mouse events on the top one are carried out on the bottom one. I tried to just change the name of all variables in the javascript, and the name given in the `img src=' section of the html code, for the second row... but clearly not what is needed. I changed the names shown below by incrementing the number in the names by 1. I've only posted one row's worth but the next row uses the same code with the variables incremented. And hopefully someone will look at the actual example (URL given above) and see the full code. The basic code I've put here for convience.: Code: <table> <tr> <td valign=top > <A href="./t2.html" onMouseOver="return changeImage()" onMouseOut= "return changeImageBack()" onMouseDown="return handleMDown()" onMouseUp="return handleMUp()" ><img name="jsbutton_0" src="./3dots.png" border="0" alt="javascript button"></A> some nice video <SCRIPT language="JavaScript"> var myimgobj_0 = document.images["jsbutton_0"]; function changeImage() { document.images["jsbutton_0"].src= "./aro1r-mo.png"; return true; } function changeImageBack() { document.images["jsbutton_0"].src = "./3dots.png"; return true; } function handleMDown() { document.images["jsbutton_0"].src = "./checks.png"; return true; } function handleMUp() { document.images["jsbutton_0"].src = "./checks.png"; return true; } </SCRIPT> </tr> </td> I have pairs of terms and short definitions in a table. I want to display a longer definition in a box below the terms table when the term is clicked on. The box needs to disappear if clicked on. I know very little javascript and would appreciate any help I can get. here is what i've got so far(no much) [CODE] <body> <script type="text/javascript"> function displayBox() { //code that will display a longer definition of the term clicked on //The definition should be displayed below the table in a <div> tag. // I would like the box to disappear if clicked on. } </script> <table cellpadding="5" cellspacing="5"> <tbody> <tr id="term1" onclick=displayBox()> <td> Term 1 </td> <td> Short definition of Term 1 Here.</td> </tr> <tr id="term2" onclick=displayBox()> <td> Term 2 </td> <td> Short definition of Term 2 Here.</td> </tr> <tr id="term3" onclick=displayBox()> <td> Term 3 </td> <td> Short definition of Term 3 Here.</td> </tr> <tr id="term4" onclick=displayBox()> <td> Term 4 </td> <td> Short definition of Term 4 Here.</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> </body> [code] I realy did not mean over image I ment some like "text"<br> then image here there are 4 parts to this script. I am trying to change it so that there is text content over the image. part 1 Code: meta http-equiv="imagetoolbar" content="false" /> <link rel="stylesheet" href='slideshow1.css' type="text/css" /> <script type="text/javascript" src="xfade2.js"></script> <div id="rotator"> AD One<a href="$siteurl/index.pl" onmouseover=\"Tip('<img src="/upload/3282.jpg" width="300">')\" onmouseout=\"UnTip()\"><img src="imageone.jpg" width="120" height="90" border="0" alt="2 bed/1 bath House" /></a> Ad TWO1<a href="$siteurl/index.pl" onmouseover=\"Tip('<img src="/upload/2485.jpg" width="300">')\" onmouseout=\"UnTip()\"><img src="imagetwo.jpg" width="120" height="90" border="0" alt="CSS Beauty" /></a> </div> the "AD ONE" and "AD two" Content above is what I would like to show up over the image and roate with it. Hi, I've create a jquery accordian using the code provided in the main accordian page. It all works brilliantly, except when I try to show an image that will link to another page, the image does not show. For example, In one of the accordion content areas, the code shows: Code: <div> <h3><a href="#">How can I get a price quote?</a></h3> <div>Simply click on the button below to open up Power Image's all-inclusive Quick Quote tool, then follow the prompts to enter your style, color, ink colors, and quantity. <img src="images/quote.png" width="100" height="30">When you're done, click "Total" to see your all-inclusive price! Additionally, once you get a quote in the Design Center, your price quote updates live under your design as you create.</div> </div> When clicking on the header to open the content however, the image does not show. I have checked the location of the image multiple times, and it is right. There isn't even a broken image that shows where the image should be. What code do I need to add to allow images to be inside the content area of accordions? Hi, I'm very new to coding Javascript, so have no idea what I'm doing, so sorry What I'm trying to do is, on my Wordpress Blog I have a button/Image: Code: src="http://Mysite.com/Images/Button.png" I would like for when a user Clicks this Image/button, 2 things to happen - 1. For my Content Locker to pop up, I believe that i already have the correct code for that?: Code: onclick="var fileref=document.createElement('script');fileref.setAttribute('type','text/javascript'); fileref.setAttribute('src', 'http://MYCONTENTLOCKER.com/guid?:1234567890') For this content locker to trigger, The whole action needs to have a ID e.g. 'ID="button1'? And 2. For a timer to start for say 30 Seconds. When that timer ends, i would like the original button/image to be replaced with a different button/image. And when that New button is clicked i would like a text string to appear below the button - saying something e.g. 'You've completed this part' I know that this is a lot to ask, and I will be so very grateful if someone helps me out here! Thanks! Harry. Hello all I have a video playlist useing iframe http://alohainvesting.com/html5/Html5player.html Is there a way to get same results without iframes? i just want to switch items on nav to the wrapper window. can this be done? Thanks just a general question really... now that I've finally started using switches, it seems to me that they're just a big if /else if statement, with an else thrown in at the end for the default. but that can't be right. I know that in javascript there are a million ways to achieve the same result, but why would they (whoever they are) go to the trouble of making two basic operations that do exactly the same thing? to me it seems that switches are better for lots of conditions and if else is a quick way to work with two or three, but apart from readability, are there any inherent advantages in choosing one approach over the other? all opinions appreciated, and I hope I don't start another argument. Hi There, I need your help, I can't seem to get this work, which it theorecticly should work any ideas? <script> var x = 3 switch(x){ case x > 0: alert("overdue") break case x = 0: alert("due today") break case x < 0: alert("will be due") break } </script> Much thanks for everyones help. Cheers, Jay how to make a switch that goes on a button(sorry that i cant describe it better)
I have a function I call like this: var theBase = getBase(percent); then, the function: function getBase(percent) { var base=''; switch (percent) { case percent.indexOf("this") == 4: base = "that" break; case percent.indexOf("thisOther") == 9: base = "thatOther" break; } return base; } However, even if percent.indexOf("this")==4 (or if any other case matches perfectly), it never enters that case and assigns a value to 'base'. What am I doing wrong? I want to make a function that will also play a sound byte when you click on the large image. i need the sound byte to change with the images. Here is the code that i am using. Code: intImage = 2; function swapImage() { switch (intImage) { case 1: IMG1.src = "images/picture1-lg-over.png" IMG2.src = "images/picture2-sm-top.png" IMG3.src = "images/picture3-sm-btm.png" intImage = 2; return(false); case 2: IMG1.src = "images/picture2-lg-over.png" IMG2.src = "images/picture1-sm-top.png" IMG3.src = "images/picture3-sm-btm.png" intImage = 3; return(false); case 3: IMG1.src = "images/picture3-lg-over.png" IMG2.src = "images/picture2-sm-top.png" IMG3.src = "images/picture1-sm-btm.png" intImage = 1; return(false); } } i have tried many things that involved each case to contain a different IMG1.onClick=""; value but it doesnt seem to change when the case changes. I have also tried making another switch/case that would change the value of the onClick event.. nothing. any sugestions? Give me an example for switch statements. I had to create one that tests value of parameter using a text string, I came up with this value Code: function createBar(partyType, percent){ switch(partyType) { case D: <td class='dem'></td> break; Should I use " or ' between the dem? I am using break statements. do all breaks should end with string or do i need the bracket? I hope this does not seem like i getting people to do homework for me again,, just want to verify if i did this area correctly? Here is the code, in full: <htmll"> <head><title></title> <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- HIDE FROM INCOMPATIBLE BROWSERS function checkGrade(grade, value) { switch (grade) { case "A": if(grade == '90') window.alert("Your grade is excellent."); break; case "B": window.alert("Your grade is good."); break; case "C": window.alert("Your grade is fair."); break; case "D": window.alert("You are barely passing."); break; case "F": window.alert("You failed."); break; } } // STOP HIDING FROM INCOMPATIBLE BROWSERS --> </script> </head> <body> <form name="gradeForm"action="Your Grades"> <input type="text" name="grade" /> <input type="button" value="Check Grade" onclick="checkGrade(document.gradeForm.grade.value);" /> </form> </body> </html> What's throwing me off is the "A" in the case. As well, "(document.gradeForm.grade.value)" I need to make it a IF statement, but not sure how to call that function. Hi, im new to this so i was wondering if anyone could tell me where im going wrong? im trying to get my switch statement to work and give me a specific reply for 4 names and if one of these names isnt typed into the promt box then i want an alert box to appear but i cant seem to get it to work. any ideas? <body> <script type="text/javascript"> //<![CDATA[ var Card_Suit; Card_Suit=window.prompt("Think of a card suit? Below is the javascript that I am having a problem with. The two id's in question are at the end of the javascript. fyi Its for a form. What will happen is that the user selects the first dropdown with an id of 00N20000001HjsR. They then selects another dropdown with an id of 00N20000001Hp9Q. What I want is that on the second dropdown, if the user selects the value of Beauty Therapy, it will change the value of the first dropdown (id 00N20000001HjsR) to 'ANCB'. The problem I have at the moment is that it is not overriding the original dropdown selection. Any ideas on how to solve this? Much appreciated in advance, thanks!!! Code: <script type="text/javascript"> //check if prospectus is on document.formRec.onsubmit = function() { return ValidForm(); }; function ValidForm(){ if (document.getElementById("first_name").value == ""){ alert("Please enter your first name"); document.getElementById("first_name").focus(); return false; } if (document.getElementById("last_name").value == ""){ alert("Please enter you last name"); document.getElementById("last_name").focus(); return false; } if (document.getElementById("email").value == ""){ alert("Please enter your email address"); document.getElementById("email").focus(); return false; } if (document.getElementById("phone").value == ""){ alert("Please enter your contact number"); document.getElementById("phone").focus(); return false; } if (document.getElementById('00N20000001Hp9a').value== "--None--"){ alert("Please choose you country of citizenship"); document.getElementById('00N20000001Hp9a').focus(); return false; } if (document.getElementById('00N20000001HjsR').value== "--None--"){ alert("Please select type of study you are interested in"); document.getElementById('00N20000001HjsR').focus(); return false; } switch (document.getElementById('00N20000001Hp9Q').value) { case "--None--": alert("Please select area of study you are interested in"); document.getElementById('00N20000001Hp9Q').focus(); return false; break; case "Beauty Therapy": document.getElementById('00N20000001Hp9Q').value = "Beauty Therapy"; document.getElementById('00N20000001HjsR').value = "ANCB"; break; } return true; } </script> |
