JavaScript - Script To Change Two Styles In Two Different Elements
Hi, I'm a javascript idiot, and I need a script to change two styles in two different elements based on the status of 2 radio buttons. Basically, I have 2 forms...#formTest and #formTest2. When radio button "search" value "1" is selected I need the display style for #formTest to be "block" and the display style for #formTest2 to be "none". When radio buton "search" value "2" is selected, I need the opposite to occur. (#formTest display style ="none" and #formTest2 display style="block")
I have very buggy code which produces similar changes, but does other bad things, so won't work. Basically, the first selection change displays both forms, which after the first selection change works fine, unless you click anywhere else, in which case both forms are not displayed. I know I should use a function in the head and call it with an onselect or onclick event. I just don't know how. I appreciate any help anyone can offer me! My ugly (nonfunctional code is below) Search by Make: <input name="search" type="radio" value="1" onclick="document.getElementById('testForm').style.display='block';" onchange="document.getElementById('testForm').style.display='none';" checked="checked" /> <br /> Search by Category: <input name="search" type="radio" value="2" onclick="document.getElementById('testForm2').style.display='block';" onchange="document.getElementById('testForm2').style.display='none';" /> Thanks Again Similar TutorialsI have a form where I want certain fields to be visible only if the user clicks a checkbox on the form. Specifically, when Presented_to_Goverment_EntityCheckbox0 is checked, these fields should appear. Code: DropDownList ID="GovEntity" Officials_Last_NameTextBox0 Officials_First_NameTextBox0 Officials_TitleTextBox0 I created two different styles, show below; one makes the fields visible and one hides them Code: <style type="text/css"> .hideit { visibility: hidden; overflow: hidden; position: absolute; } .showit { visibility: visible; overflow: visible; position: static; } </style> Then I surrounded the fields with a div ID'ed as wdiv Code: <div class="hideit" id="wdiv"> Type Government Entity: <asp:TextBox ID="Type_Government_EntityTextBox" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("Type_Government_Entity") %>' /> <br /> Officials Last Name: <asp:TextBox ID="Officials_Last_NameTextBox" runat="server" style="display:none" Text='<%# Bind("Officials_Last_Name") %>' /> <br /> Officials_First_Name: <asp:TextBox ID="Officials_First_NameTextBox" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("Officials_First_Name") %>' /> <br /> Officials_Title: <asp:TextBox ID="Officials_TitleTextBox" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("Officials_Title") %>' /> <br /> </div> I am using the following javascript to change the styles in response to an onclick event. Code: <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> function changeDiv(wdiv) { thediv = document.getElementById(wdiv); if(thediv.className == 'hideit'){ thediv.className = 'showit'; } else if (thediv.className == 'showit'){ thediv.className = 'showit'; }} </script> I call the Javascript in this line Code: <asp:CheckBox ID="Presented_to_Goverment_EntityCheckBox" onClick="ChangeDiv(wdiv)" runat="server" /> <br /> However nothing happens when I click the checkbox and if I look in Firefox's error console it says ChangeDiv is not defined. Thanks. Would this work? or do I got the wrong function commands? How would I alter this to make it work, been staring at the screen for 8 hours..... var myInDesign = app var myDocument = app.activeDocument var myDocName = myDocument.name app.findParagraphStyle.caseSensitive = false; app.findParagraphStyle.wholeWord = false; app.findCharacterStyle.wholeWord = false; app.findCharacterStyle.caseSensitive = false; app.findParagraphStyle.findWhat = "SN.outabout.DAY-Gray"; app.changeParagraphStyle.changeTo = "SN.Holiday-Day_of_the_week"; app.documents.item(0).changeParagraphStyle(); app.findParagraphStyle.findWhat = "SN.outabout.DATE"; app.changeParagraphStyle.changeTo = "SN.Holiday-Month_and_Day"; app.documents.item(0).changeParagraphStyle(); app.findParagraphStyle.findWhat = "SN.listingsLT"; app.changeParagraphStyle.changeTo = "SN.Holiday-Paragraph"; app.documents.item(0).changeParagraphStyle(); app.findCharacterStyle.findWhat = "SN.listingsBOLD"; app.changeCharacterStyle.changeTo = "SN.Holiday-Title_Paragraph"; app.documents.item(0).changeCharacterStyle(); //myInCopy = CreateObject("InCopy.Application.CS3") //Not sure if this would work, just crafting idea's. //var myDocument = myInCopy.ActiveDocument //var mySelection = myInCopy.Selection.Item(1) //var myStory = MySelection.ParentStory //var myText = myStory.Paragraphs.Item(1) //myStory.CheckOut //myText.ApplyParagraphStyle myDocument.ParagraphStyles.Item("zAPPROVED"), True //myStory.CheckIn Can I just do this with like a Nested If, then Statement? I would like to have a text link do 2 things: 1. Change #box1.style1 to class="style2" (from style1) 2. Change #box2.style2 to class="style1" (from style2) So the text link would not change its own style, but change the class of 2 different divs Your help on this is very much appreciated. Thank you Hey guys, so i have a table, and it displays 6 rows, and the content inside of those rows. But i need to make it so that the middle row, has a border so it appears it is highlighted. Here is what i have Code: function timer() { time=parseInt(player.getCurrentTime()) if (time%5==0&&oldtime!=time){ rows[1].innerHTML=rows[(time/5)+ -1].innerHTML rows[2].innerHTML=rows[(time/5)+ 0].innerHTML rows[3].innerHTML=rows[(time/5)+ 1].innerHTML rows[4].innerHTML=rows[(time/5)+ 2].innerHTML rows[5].innerHTML=rows[(time/5)+ 3].innerHTML oldtime=time } } var myDoc = app.documents[0] var mySel = app.selection[0] var myStory = mySel.parentStory; // Now we are pointing to the entire story var myHolidayStyle1 = "Holiday-Day_of_the_week" // Header 'day of the week' var myHolidayStyle2 = "Holiday-Month_and_date" // Header 'month and day' var myHolidayStyle3 = "Lead Paragraph" // Lead Paragraph 'default paragraph style' myStory.paragraphs[0].appliedParagraphStyle = myHolidayStyle1; //Header 'day of the week' and Month and day. myStory.paragraphs[1].appliedParagraphStyle = myHolidayStyle2; // Header 'month of the day' myStory.paragraphs[2].appliedParagraphStyle = myHolidayStyle3; // Lead Paragraph 'default paragraph style' //.appliedParagraphStyle = myDoc.paragraphStyles.item (myHolidayStyle1); //mySel.paragraphs[-1].insertionPoints[-1].paragraphs[0]; //Loops to change all the paragraphs to Paragraph body to ever paragraph (only problem is its limited to the entire page.) for (loop=0; loop<myStory.paragraphs.length; loop++) myStory.paragraphs[loop].appliedParagraphStyle = myHolidayStyle3; // Something simple to check if text 'drops out' of a certain text frame. currTextFrame = app.selection[0].parentTextFrames[0]; currPar = currTextFrame.paragraphs[0]; while (currPar && currPar.parentTextFrames[0] == currTextFrame) { currPar.appliedParagraphStyle = someStyle; currPar = currTextFrame.paragraphs.nextItem(currPar); } // Script for starting Spell Check var WshShell = app.menus.item(0); var WshShell2 = WshShell.submenus.item(1); var WshShell3 = WshShell2.submenus.item(1); var WshShell4 = WshShell3.menuItems.item(0); WshShell4.associatedMenuAction.invoke(); Would this work, do I got a pretty generalized idea of how it should be written. I want this script to apply data that comes in from a export that is imported into Indesign. Basically Holidaystyle1 and 2 are already preset in data from a program called Linear. But the day, month, and date, will change. So I hoping there is a way from the script above to make 1 and 2 be at the top of the page, and style 3 be the paragraph style that leads in the text until the next articles are reach that start with like say 'Friday' and 'November 12', and the routine repeats itself again, until there is no-more data. (**edit** Is there a way to tell the script to put a line break or empty line between Style 0 and style 1?) I hope this make sense. I would love for the script to do all the data at once, and at the end, I put a spell check function that checks to make sure the spelling and grammar are correct, before the script finally ends. Hi, I am stumped. I have been trying unsuccesfully for three days to figure something out, and it has brought me here. I am a noob javascripter, so please bear with me. I have 5 color sets i would like use for the page, so i would like the button to trigger the color change in a loop, ie when the last color group is reached, the next click returns to the original color set and it continues again. This is a demo page, not for actually publication. I am trying to teach myself javascript and this is an idea that came to me. The things i want to change are the background color of two div's and the top row of a table. My style sheet is seperate, and I will also do the same for the javascript once I can get it to work properly. Thank you in advance for any help. hey, is there any way i can change an elements properties in window open? i click a link and it opens a window with window.open, and i want to take something from the current page and place it inside a textarea within the opened window.. is it possible? is "localStorage" a native variable to javascript? On lin 36 & 37 is there anything else involved in getting that local storage to store? Those lines are local storage right? Is it really that easy? I was just reading this HUGE post and immediately stressed me out. I'm used to working off small examples and diving in bit by bit. It was the first article on google so I trusted it to be the most appropriate for introductions. (which means not reading more than 500 words before I get some sample code) In addition, can Google Chrome & FireFox extensions change page elements? The reason I think it can do this is because google chrome says this Which (to me) implies that the extension has access to page data. If that is the case. How are localStorage variables not mixing? How can I access that page data? I don't care about browser history, I just want to change page elements. Is this possible? If this is the case. Is there a way I can have the extension close itself or not open at all? Sometimes I just want the "extension" to provide a simple function. That's all. Thanks! I had Silverbird and the tutorialzine example extension. They were both different size. Odd thing is that I never saw a size specification in the style.css in the tutorialzine example. How can I specify the size of the popup extension? so my code is supposed to retrieve three values from a flash element. now it works fine, but when it retrieves a 0 from any of the three valuse, it goes all haywire.... how could i put in a statement or command that if it returns 0, that all it will display is a 0 instead of returning "NaN"? But since all three valuse added together are supposed to equal 100% i have to run the numbers through a little bit of division and rounding after it gets the value of each one. Code: var techfaction = document.getElementById('tfaction'); var natfaction = document.getElementById('nfaction'); var magfaction = document.getElementById('mfaction'); retrFaction(); roundNumber(); function retrFaction() { var values = document.documentElement.innerHTML.match(/factiontrianglesmall\.swf\??.*\\x26link/i)[0].match(/[0-9.]{4,9}/ig); techfaction.innerHTML = roundNumber(values[0] / 30, 1) + '%'; natfaction.innerHTML = roundNumber(values[1] / 30, 1) + '%'; magfaction.innerHTML = roundNumber(values[2] / 30, 1) + '%'; } function roundNumber(num, dec) { var result = Math.round(num*Math.pow(10,dec))/Math.pow(10,dec); return result; } Hi guys, it's been a while since I've been here Anyways, I'm wondering if it's possible for a script to enable/disable all input elements on the page with some sort of toggle button. I googled it but didn't find anything too useful except for this: http://www.aHappyDeal.com/wj_r.asp?lid=2109 but I'm not sure how to edit it for the toggle. Thanks! I'm reworking a 15 year old script. Here is the original general purpose routine that extracted a portion of one form to another form. Code: function FillForm(f) { for( i=FullName; i<=EndOfForm; i++) { self.document.forms[f].elements[i].value = FormData[i]; }; }; But NOW I'm supposed to use getElementById() Does that mean instead of the short routine I have to put one line for each Id tag and it is no longer general purpose and independent of the form being used? Is it OK to keep using the legacy script despite the Warning from the error console? Hi guys, it's been a while since I've been here Anyways, I'm wondering if it's possible for a script to enable/disable all input elements on the page with some sort of toggle button. I googled it but didn't find anything too useful except for this: http://www.codetoad.com/javascript/e...rm_element.asp but I'm not sure how to edit it for the toggle. Thanks! hi. in reference to this post: http://www.codingforums.com/showthread.php?t=226228 can some guru show me how to modify the matching columns script so that it works in html5? .. with a long center SECTION element and two shorter ASIDE elents .. 1 on each side. UPDATE .. Houston, we have an answer. Hello I've been struggling trying to get a small order form to work the way I want it to. Here is a link to the live page: http://www.watphotos.com/introductio...otography.html And here is the code in question: Code: <script src="js/jquery-1.4.2.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"> $(document).ready(function(){ var initial = 0 var total = 0; var services = 0; function addServices() { initial = 150 total = initial services = 0; $("input:checked").each(function(){ value = $(this).attr("value"); services += parseInt(value); }); } $(function() { addServices(); total += services; $("form").before('<p class="price"></p>') $("p.price").text("Total Price: US$" + total); }); $("input:radio, input:checkbox").click(function () { addServices(); total += services $("p.price").text("Total Price: US$" + total); }); }); </script> I have two questions... Question 1 How can I make this piece of script act a little smarter. Look at the order form, I'm catering for up to 4 people and providing lunch for them. If they select 3 people and the spaghetti bol for lunch, it's only adding $10 where it should be adding $30. Obviously this is simple multiplication but since the values in my form are prices it makes it a little tricky. I'm guessing an onselect on the first part of the form which changes the pricing of the other items would be the way to go, but how do I do this? Question 2 The "Total Price" is placed before the <form> tag by the script. This is ok but it's not where I want it. How can I position this text elsewhere in the document? Thanks in advance! I don't know if this is possible, so I figured I'd ask a few gurus. I know it is possible to have an image change at a certain time of day, and it's also possible to have an image change by day, but is there a script to do both? What I want to do is have the first image show from 8am cst to 6pm cst mon-fri, it's our open sign for live chat. The the rest of the time have the second image. Is this possible with any type of script? Any help you can give is greatly appreciated! Hi, I am looking for some help with a change I need on a Cufon script for a template I purchased to build a website. In this script its converting all the text to Uppercase. I know pretty much zero about Javascript, so i do not know how to edit it out. I require the script for other parts of the site so I can not just delete it. Any help would be great. Basically this is a menu I have which I'm using in wordpress. Wordpress puts 'current' on the current page, so the menu knows which list item to keep highlighted. On one of my pages however, it is hidden from the menu, therefor NONE of the list items contain 'current'. It makes the menu look bad when you are on this page. What I'd like to do to this code, is add a very small feature that checks if none of the list items have 'current'. If none of the li's contain current, then just apply it to li:first-child (which is my home button). I'm not familiar with javascript, but I feel that would be doable from just the script that I'm pasting below. Code: /** * LavaLamp - A menu plugin for jQuery with cool hover effects. * @requires jQuery v1.1.3.1 or above * * http://gmarwaha.com/blog/?p=7 * * Copyright (c) 2007 Ganeshji Marwaha (gmarwaha.com) * Dual licensed under the MIT and GPL licenses: * http://www.opensource.org/licenses/mit-license.php * http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.html * * Version: 0.2.0 * Requires Jquery 1.2.1 from version 0.2.0 onwards. * For jquery 1.1.x, use version 0.1.0 of lavalamp */ (function(jQuery) { jQuery.fn.lavaLamp = function(o) { o = jQuery.extend({ fx: "linear", speed: 500, click: function(){} }, o || {}); return this.each(function() { var me = jQuery(this), noop = function(){}, jQueryback = jQuery('<li class="back"><div class="left"></div></li>').appendTo(me), jQueryli = jQuery("li", this), curr = jQuery("li.current", this)[0] || false; if (curr == false){jQuery(".back").remove();return false;} jQueryli.not(".back").not("#nav ul li").hover(function() { move(this); }, noop); jQuery(this).hover(noop, function() { move(curr); }); jQueryli.click(function(e) { setCurr(this); return o.click.apply(this, [e, this]); }); setCurr(curr); function setCurr(el) { jQueryback.css({ "left": el.offsetLeft+"px", "width": el.offsetWidth+"px" }); curr = el; }; function move(el) { jQueryback.each(function() { jQuery(this).dequeue(); } ).animate({ width: el.offsetWidth, left: el.offsetLeft }, o.speed, o.fx); }; }); }; })(jQuery); I can`t play video from the internet full screen. I keep getting this message that I need to change the Java script setting to re size window. I tried a lot of things and still not working. How can I change the settings?
Hi , I need one javascript, which is going to change the color of the region in the particular image. For example one boy wearing the blue color t-shirts, i want to change the blue color into red color by using the color code instead of chaging the image into new one. Whether is this possible to do in javascript ? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks, Suresh.k |
