JavaScript - Adding/removing Field Problem
Hi. I'm trying to get my script below working. I've managed to get it to add fields dynamically but the remove function isn't right... and I can't think of a way round it. any ideas?
also.. how can i incorporate a way for a limit on the number of fields that can be added? cheers! any help would be very appreciated. Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function addInput() { var x = document.getElementById("inputs"); x.innerHTML += "<input type=\"text\" />"; } function removeInput() { var x = document.getElementById("inputs"); x.innerHTML -= "<input type=\"text\" />"; } </script> <input type="button" value="add field" onclick="addInput();" /> <input type="button" value="remove field" onclick="removeInput();" /> <div id="inputs"></div> .. update: ah, i've just looked into the operators in more details and -= is just for numbers... so this won't work. i presume this is going to be the wrong method then. Similar TutorialsHi guys. I have a lot of information on my site that is in multiple categories. I have a list of categories, each with its own checkbox. By default, all the information is displayed (therefore all the checkbox's are checked by default). When someone unchecks the box I want to hide the divs with that class, and when someone rechecks the box, they should reappear. Here is my code so far. It is hiding the div's fine, but they are not reappearing when user tics the checkbox again. Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function toggledisplay(category){ if(document.getElementById(category).checked){ $("."+category).removeClass(category+"-hidden").addClass(category); } else{ $("."+category).addClass(category+"-hidden").removeClass(category); } } </script> <input type="checkbox" checked="checked" name="fitness" id="fitness" onclick="toggledisplay('fitness')" /> My java skill are rudimentary at best. I have an email which has some values attached to a link in the email that get passed to an online form on a website when clicked. Problem is the value is a price and the string includes a "$" which I need to remove. I've read through many examples and everyone seems to have an opinion (surprise). One suggests something like this: Code: text2.value=text1.value.replace(/\$/g,""); While someone else says its better to remove what you don't want. I am also scratching my head over should I place the value into a hidden field, scrub it then copy that into the proper field? and I imagine the best way would be to run it with an "onload" command instead or a event handler like a keystroke since the field is not typed? Roundtable discussion would be appreciated to help me solve this simple problem and help expand my knowledge of java... thanks. Hey guys, I have a script which adds more text fields to a div in a form, but when it adds a new field the text in the others is cleared. :S http://martynleeball.goodluckwith.us/ PHP Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Draw Somthing - Word Guess</title> <script type="text/javascript"> function add_field(obj, count) { //Count how many fields there is so the correct number can be added to the ID var form_name = document.getElementById(obj); var inputs = form_name.getElementsByTagName('input'); var g = 1; //alert("Container: " + obj + ". I really need to add this to an existing script I've already written. I've seen scripts and tutorials that add the jpg validation but only incorporate the image field of the form. I need the script to validate several forms in the field, not just one. When I try to add validation for the jpg field to the follow script everything stops working. Can someone please point me in the right direction? Thanks! Where is the problem? Hi, I have this design, where the menu is a JavaScript that makes the content page flow in from the right. As a standard there are only 4 menu objects, but I need a fifth one. I have tried to add another myself, and change everything i thought important in the javascript.js, but it just doesn't work. The javascript screws up, so I am clearly missing something. Therefore i'm hoping that someone inhere, can help me adding it. Below are the index, javascript and stylesheet included. If I'm not making myself clear, please let me know and I will try to explain it better Thanks walkie index.htm Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> <title>Identity</title> <script type="text/javascript" src="javascript/jquery.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="fancybox/jquery.fancybox.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="javascript/javascript.js"></script> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="css/style.css" /> <link rel="stylesheet" href="fancybox/jquery.fancybox.css" type="text/css" media="screen" /> </head> <body> <div id="leftSide"> <!--Site Title--> <div id="title"> <!--Main Title--> <h1><span></span>Identity</h1> <!--Caption/Sub Title--> <span class="titleSubText">the portfolio of john smith</span> </div> <div id="arrowWrapper"><div id="arrow"></div></div> <div id="buttonsWrapper"> <!--About Button--> <div id="aboutButtonWrapper"> <div class="navButton" id="aboutButton"></div> <div class="navCaption" id="aboutCaption"> <!--About Button: Label--> <span class="navCaptionText">about</span><br /> <!--About Button: Sub-Label--> <span class="navSubCaptionText">who I am</span> </div> </div> <!--Portfolio Button--> <div id="portfolioButtonWrapper"> <div class="navButton" id="portfolioButton"></div> <div class="navCaption" id="portfolioCaption"> <!--Portfolio Button: Label--> <span class="navCaptionText">portfolio</span><br /> <!--Portfolio Button: Sub-Label--> <span class="navSubCaptionText">my work</span> </div> </div> <!--Services Button--> <div id="servicesButtonWrapper"> <div class="navButton" id="servicesButton"></div> <div class="navCaption" id="servicesCaption"> <!--Services Button: Label--> <span class="navCaptionText">services</span><br /> <!--Services Button: Sub-Label--> <span class="navSubCaptionText">what I do</span> </div> </div> <!--Contact Button--> <div id="contactButtonWrapper"> <div class="navButton" id="contactButton"></div> <div class="navCaption" id="contactCaption"> <!--Contact Button: Label--> <span class="navCaptionText">contact</span><br /> <!--Contact Button: Sub-Label--> <span class="navSubCaptionText">get in touch</span> </div> </div> </div> </div> <div id="contentPanelWrapper"> <div id="contentPanelEdge"></div> <!--Wrapper That Contains 'About' Content--> <div class="content" id="aboutContent"> <!--Title--> <div class="contentTitle">about</div> <!--Body Text--> <div id="aboutText"> <h3>Who I Am</h3><br /> <p>Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. I have a javascript loop that is looping through all of my <dfn> html tags. These tags are used to show a glossary term on my page. When the user mouses over the term it shows a popup with the term name and the definition. Here is my javascript function: Code: function definitionRollover(){ var j; var dfns = document.getElementsByTagName('dfn') for (j=0; j<dfns.length;j++){ var term = dfns[j].innerHTML.charAt(0).toUpperCase() + dfns[j].innerHTML.slice(1); var definitionArray = new Array(term, dfns[j].title); dfns[j].onmouseover = function(){stm(definitionArray,Style[0])} dfns[j].onmouseout = function(){htm();}; } } As you can see I am adding a onmouseover event to these <dfn> tags which calls another function (stm) with the definition and term being held in the definitionArray. This works great until I have multiple terms on a page. When I have multiple terms it only shows the last terms definition for all terms. My question is how I can get it to work for all terms. I know that throughout the loop the definitionArray is holding the correct info at the correct time but for some reason it only shows the last one. I hope that this makes sense and if anyone could give me any tips or leads it would be very much appreciated. Hi Guys, Been stuck on this for too long now. The fadein function won't add to the .style.opacity Here's the code with the php Code: function fadeout() { b<?php echo ($AF_list_artist_id->artist_id); ?>.style.opacity = (b<?php echo ($AF_list_artist_id->artist_id); ?>.style.opacity - 0.01); if(b<?php echo ($AF_list_artist_id->artist_id); ?>.style.opacity == 0.1) { clearInterval(fadeouttimer); b<?php echo ($AF_list_artist_id->artist_id); ?>.src = a<?php echo ($AF_list_artist_id->artist_id); ?>[starter<?php echo ($AF_list_artist_id->artist_id); ?>]; function fadein() { b<?php echo ($AF_list_artist_id->artist_id); ?>.style.opacity = (b<?php echo ($AF_list_artist_id->artist_id); ?>.style.opacity + 0.01); //alert(b<?php echo ($AF_list_artist_id->artist_id); ?>.style.opacity); if(b<?php echo ($AF_list_artist_id->artist_id); ?>.style.opacity == 1) { clearInterval(fadeintimer); setTimeout("rotate<?php echo ($AF_list_artist_id->artist_id); ?>("+(starter<?php echo ($AF_list_artist_id->artist_id); ?>+1)+")",6000); } } var fadeintimer = setInterval(fadein,10); } } var fadeouttimer = setInterval(fadeout,10); and without Code: function fadeout() { b7.style.opacity = (b7.style.opacity - 0.01); if(b7.style.opacity == 0.1) { clearInterval(fadeouttimer); b7.src = a7[starter7]; function fadein() { b7.style.opacity = (b7.style.opacity + 0.01); //alert(b7.style.opacity); if(b7.style.opacity == 1) { clearInterval(fadeintimer); setTimeout("rotate7("+(starter7+1)+")",6000); } } var fadeintimer = setInterval(fadein,10); } } var fadeouttimer = setInterval(fadeout,10); Hi, I'm having a problem trying to get my html web form to work. I have a list of 8 radio button options for people to choose one option with the last option being other - and then I want if the user clicks other that the text field box next to it becomes a required field and the form will not submit until this text field is filled in. If the user selects one of the other radio button options then the text field is not compulsory. I am using a linked javascript validation file which checks that all fields on the form which I have stated as required - become required, but I am having problems getting this "Other" button and text field to work with it all and not have the submit continue without this text field being completed! any help would really be appreciated! Thanks in advance! Below is the script and form fields I am working with. What I want to do is sum the two textbox fields and have the result show in the total textbox. The code works fine and the total textbox is updated with the value of form1.basic. The problem occurs when I add the "+ parseInt(document.form2.supporter.value)" code in the script section. What am I doing wrong? Thank you for your time and help. Code: <script type="text/javascript"><!-- function updatesum() { document.frmtotal.total.value = parseInt(document.form1.basic.value) + parseInt(document.form2.supporter.value)} //--></script> <tr> <td width="111"><form id="form1" name="form1" method="post" action=""> <label for="basic">$</label> <input name="basic" type="text" id="basic" size="7" maxlength="7" onchange="updatesum(this.form)" /> </form></td> </tr> <tr> <td><form id="form2" name="supporter" method="post" action=""> <label for="supporter">$</label> <input name="supporter" type="text" id="supporter" size="7" maxlength="7" onchange="updatesum(this.form)" /> </form> Hi, firstly I apologise if the title of this thread isn't quite accurate. I'm sure you've all heard it before but I am a complete newbie to Javascript so again: apologies if this is boring and tiresome to even read, let alone help with! I have been asked to make some changes to a form that uses Javascript for the form validation. There is a 'function' that contains the variables of the various form fields and then further code to raise 'alerts' if one of the fields on the form hasn't been filled in. My problem is that for some reason I am unable to add an extra variable to this code after the field of 'County' (this will hopefully make sense when you see the code / link...) and I am stumped as to why. I am able to add variables for all of the other required fields except for 'Postcode' after 'County'. This is the case for both forms. The link is he http://samdelara.co.uk/previews/banq...ation-form.htm and the code I am trying edit is below: function checkAvailibility() { // re-calculate... calculate (); if ( isName() && isAddress1() && isTown() && isCounty() && isPostcode() && isYourEmail() && isFuncDate() && somethingToQuoteFor() && isYourEmailValid() ) { document.ordersummary.emailQuote.value = "No"; setValue(); return true; } else { return false; } } function isName() { if (document.ordersummary.Name.value=="") { alert ("\n Please Enter Your Name") document.ordersummary.Name.focus(); return false; } return true; } function isAddress1() { if (document.ordersummary.Address1.value=="") { alert ("\n Please Enter Your Address") document.ordersummary.Address1.focus(); return false; } return true; } function isTown() { if (document.ordersummary.Town.value=="") { alert ("\n Please Enter Your Town") document.ordersummary.Town.focus(); return false; } return true; } function isCounty() { if (document.ordersummary.County.value=="") { alert ("\n Please Enter Your County") document.ordersummary.County.focus(); return false; } return true; } function isPostcode() { if (document.ordersummary.Postcode.value=="") { alert ("\n Please Enter Your Postcode") document.ordersummary.Postcode.focus(); return false; } return true; } function isYourEmail() { if (document.ordersummary.YourEmail.value=="") { alert ("\n Please Enter Your Email") document.ordersummary.YourEmail.focus(); return false; } return true; } function isFuncDate() { if (document.ordersummary.FuncDate.value=="") { alert ("\n Please Enter Your Function Date") document.ordersummary.FuncDate.focus(); return false; } return true; } function isemailonly() { if (document.ordersummary.emailonly.value=="") { alert ("\n Please Enter Your Email Address") document.ordersummary.emailonly.focus(); return false; } return true; } Any help with this would be very much appreciated and once again, I apologise for my distinct lack of knowledge in this area! Sam I have the following javascript function: [ function addNewWindowEvent(evType, fn) { if (window.addEventListener) { this.addEventListener("load", fn, false); return true; } else if (window.attachEvent) { var onload = "onload" this.attachEvent(onload, fn); return true; } else { return false; } } ] which is giving me a an exception every time a page on our site loads. The actual exception in firefox is this: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Could not convert JavaScript argument" nsresult: "0x80570009 (NS_ERROR_XPC_BAD_CONVERT_JS)" location: "JS frame :: https://cms-dev.stchas.edu/global/js/hdvscripts.js :: addNewWindowEvent :: line 5" data: no] and I'm not sure exactly what it's complaining about. I'm relatively new to javascript so diagnosing and fixing this problem has me quite puzzled, and so far I have been unable to find anything helpful when I try and google for information on this. I would appreciate any help or suggestions. Thanks. henryv hiiii, im new to javascripts . Can anyone help me to know that a javascript which is validating a phone number accepts only digits but if the text field is left empty it should accept the entry as an empty entry.... plz share knowledge u will be more knowledgeable Hi folks. Looking to see if anyone could tell me where I'm going wrong with this script... I'm trying to have a field automatically filled with the day of the week ("Monday", "Tuesday", "Wednesday" and so on), upon the user selecting a date from the datepicker jQuery. If this isn't clear, I'll clarify further down the page. Here is the script: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> jQuery(document).ready(function($){ $('input[name="item_meta[428]"]').change(function(){ var d = $('input[name="item_meta[428]"]').val(); var n = new Date(d).getDay(); if(n == 0) val v = 'Sunday'; else if(n == 1) val v = 'Monday'; else if(n == 2) val v = 'Tuesday'; else if(n == 3) val v = 'Wednesday'; else if(n == 4) val v = 'Thursday'; else if(n == 5) val v = 'Friday'; else if(n == 6) val v = 'Saturday'; $('input[name="item_meta[429]"]').val(v).change(); }); }); </script> I'm basically trying to say, if the user selected today (15/05/2012) in the field 428 it would fill the field 429 with "Tuesday". Again, if the user selected 18/05/2012 in the field 428 then it would automatically fill field 429 with "Friday". It's being done to work in conjunction with a wordpress plugin called Formidable Pro hence the item_meta[428] etc. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Sam. I have a text field, call it income, that when the input is > 0 I need to dynamically show the next text box, and if it is blank hide the next text box. I would like to use onBlur but can't seem to get it to work. Can I do this? Help I have two drop down fields. When I select any value in the first drop down i want the second dropdown to automatically populate the value related to the first one. For e.g i have the first field as name and the second field as measured in. If I select 'Potato' in the first dropdown then the second drop down should populate 'kg'. Please help.
Hi Experts, I have designed an online registration system for a non profit in ASP/SQL. After the members register for classes they are automatically redirected to an invoice page with class fees. At the bottom of the page I have a Total Fees field of all the classes. The member is supposed to pay this amount to our organization. Question: We decided to do an online payment this year and would like to calculate a 2% additional amount on the Total Fees. This amount is paid to the Payment Merchant site. We cannot afford to lose the 2% since we are a non profit. Would really appreciate if someone can tell me how to 1) Add a new field under the Total field 2) And calculate the 2% additional fees and do a Grand Total. Thanks in advance. Hi all, Thanks for reading. I'm having an issue trying to accomplish the following - I have a text field (field1) already displayed on the HTML page. However, there's a link where you can add additional text fields to the page as well. When the link is clicked, the second text field is added successfully (field2), and when the link is clicked again, the third text field (field3) is added successfully. However, the third field does not add itself to the page, and the text for anything greater than a third field also isn't displayed after. This obviously means that my "fields" variable is not working right, so I'm wondering, would anyone be able to assist me to help me get that variable processing correctly? Code: <script language="javascript"> fields = 1; function addMore() { if (fields = 1) { document.getElementById('addedMore').innerHTML = "<input type='text' name='field2' size='25' /> <span>Field 2.</span>"; fields = 2; } else if (fields = 2) { document.getElementById('addedMore').innerHTML = "<input type='text' name='field3' size='25' /> <span>Field 3.</span>"; fields = 3; } else { document.getElementById('addedMore').innerHTML = "Only 3 fields are allowed."; document.form.add.disabled=true; } } </script> Here is the code in my HTML - Code: <input type="text" name="field1" size="25" /> <span>Field 1.</span> <div id="addedMore"></div> <p class="addMore"><form name="add"><a onclick="addMore()">Add another field.</a></form></p> Thank you very much. I put this at the end of my code thinking that after the div displays (id = 'link_container') I can eliminate (id = 'link_container') from memory when the script ends so there's a place for another div (id = 'link_container') when/if there's onkeyup event. Wouldn't this little script remove any element with an id = 'link_container' ? <script type="text/javascript"> var deleteDiv = document.getElementById('link_container'); document.body.removeChild(deleteDiv); </script> |
