JavaScript - Insert A Counter Call In External Javascript Instead Of Html Page
Hello,
I actually use a counter on a webpage (It works) To do it, I use an inline javascript but I would like to unify the entire page and call that counter directly in the external Javascript that manages the whole site. Here's the actual code... Code: HTML <body onLoad=gen_hits()> ... <span id='hits'></span><SCRIPT language="JavaScript" SRC="http://www.mycompany.com/cgi-bin/counterdir/gcount.pl?NUMBER=../../otherdir/counter"></SCRIPT> ... </body> EXTERNAL JAVASCRIPT (ini.js) var hits="HITS "; function gen_hits() { document.getElementById("hits").innerHTML=hits; } and here a "view" of my request... Code: HTML <body onLoad=gen_hits()> ... <span id='hits'></span> ... </body> EXTERNAL JAVASCRIPT var hits="HITS " + <SCRIPT language="JavaScript" SRC="http://www.mycompany.com/cgi-bin/counterdir/gcount.pl?NUMBER=../../otherdir/counter"> </SCRIPT> ; function gen_hits() { document.getElementById("hits").innerHTML=hits; } Any idea how to modify it ? Thank you very much Gino Similar TutorialsHonestly, its probably my fail. Regardless, here is the deal, any help would be appreciated. I am currently skinning up a custom cpanel theme for a company I work with from time to time, kudolabs.net. They would like their Jixed Bar that is on their main web page to be on the skin, and I am attempting to put it there now. I have put the code into the html of the skin, both the call to the proper javascript files and css files, and the proper code for the bar itself. It is not working, the bar shows up as it is supposed to, but it is not aligned correctly and the bar does not float with the page. It acts exactly like the javascript is not working at all.... Unfortunately I can't just provide access to the cpanel for people to check, but you can see the source code of the main page, kudolabs.net, and if you're willing to help, I can of course give you access to a demo account (and quite possibily provide some hosting for a month or two, we're based in the netherlands and have plenty of space to share to anyone willing to help us with little problems such as this. @_@ ) Thank you for your time reading this, any help or points in the right directions would be appreciated. Unfortunately, google has failed me this time. Or, rather, I have failed google. o.o Hi I have a requirement that from a different domain I will be calling my domain javascript adn calling the fucntion of it directly. I dont want to ask the partner site first download the js and then call the function of it. rather I have seen someplaces they just call the js on links and functions are called directly. in my partner site html I should have something like <a href="http://www.mydomain.com/inc/js/abc.js" >call js </a> and my js will have: function hi(){ alert("hi"); } hi(); so I was expecting that I will see an alert with "hi" but this is not happening. any help mjask Hello, I am in situation where I need a code to redirect a HTML page to new location (Static HTML/Dynamic Web page) however the challenge is that I can not use usual JavaScript Redirect code due to restriction that we can't execute any code/script under body tag. I found that this can be done using an external JS file however I am not able to achieve this. I need the code to be generic so we can apply the same JS file to any page. However, I want the new window to open over the previous one versus opening a second new window. Can someone help me out in this? I have some HTML that I want to put in a Javascript file and reference the HTML through external Javascript file. So I have my page, example.html Code: <html> <head></head> <body> <script type="text/javascript src="../js/external.js"> </script> </body> </html> external.js Code: document.write("<p class="txt_medium style4"> example.com<br />101 Street St.<br />City, ST, ZIP</p><p class="txt_medium style4">"The Best website." </p>"); The above code is all on one line, but is not displaying on the page. PHP is out of the question too (_._) Any thoughts? I have a javascript file and a html file. On the html file I have an action (button) and would like to use some type of attribute of the onclick to call my function to open this html file. below is the beginning of my function: requestPanel_Forwardme: function() { view.opendialog("show_me") What other attributes of action can I use? can this function in my JS file be called and if so how would I call it? <action?? Hello, I don't know if this can be done in Javascript, or requires any other language but i was wondering if this would be possible. I would like to embed this Javascript code in to a PHP file and then for it to run automatically upon the PHP file loading: Code: <td class="smallDesc"> <a name="fb_share" type="button_count" href="http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php">Share</a><script src="http://static.ak.fbcdn.net/connect.php/js/FB.Share" type="text/javascript"></script> </td> The Javascirpt is the Facebook Share button that basically allows users that have Facebook to share the page there currently on in their Facebook status by pressing the button, but if there not logged in it shows the login page, not a problem just continue the script. The current button i which is what i want to load automatically in the PHP file is located here, to test the functionalilty just click "Share" button in blue.. http://watch-movies-online.anyfilman...-Movie-17.html To summarise, i would like the above Javascript code to execute automatically upon pageload of this PHP file.. http://www.watch-movies-online.anyfi...p://google.com. If that could be done, and if this also is possible.. i would like for the "Share" button on the external page that is loaded from the Javascript code above to be clicked automatically so in effect when ever someone visits the PHP page after clicking "Click Here to Watch/Stream 2012 Online For Free" on this page it will automatically load the Facebook Share box, and automatically click the "Share" Button and then close the page if possible, but not required. Please feel free to ask any questions, i'll be happy to answer. Thanks in advance. Best Regards, Jonathan. My javascript quits working when I am rendering the html? (It works perfectly fine if the page is opened from http address directly). I did some research and concluded that "JavaScript is executed on page load", so when I render my html, my JavaScript functions are not automatically called. My question is how should I call the javascript functions manually? verify.html: Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <HTML> <HEAD> <Title>form</Title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;charset=UTF-8"> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="xupload.css"> </HEAD> <BODY> <form id="myform" enctype="multipart/form-data" action="/cgi-bin/upload.cgi" method="post" onSubmit="return StartUpload(this);"> <DIV id="div1"> <b><font id='x_max_files'>?</font> files <font id='x_max_size'>?</font> Mb total maximum</b> <div id="upload_input"><input id="my_file_element" type="file" name="file_1" size=58></div> <div id="files_list"></div> <p align=center><input type="submit" value="Upload Files" class="myForm" id="submit_btn"></p> </DIV> </form> <iframe src="javascript:false;" name="xupload" style="position:absolute;left:-9999px;"></iframe> <script type="text/javascript"> //Specify your form ID var x_form_id = 'myform'; var x_mode = 1; var x_tmpl_name = ''; </script> <script src="xupload.js" type="text/javascript"></script> </BODY> </HTML> config file: Code: htmlverify = "../verify.html" Perl: Code: if(my $verifypage = $g->{CV}{htmlverify}) { # passing variables xxxxx .... # render the page: send_header(); $p->pf($verifypage); } Hey, In the quiz function the form that is generated all compiles correctly, but the submit button only causes the page to refresh. The script once called will provide variables for another function. I have tried using this function PHP Code: function loadjscssfile(filename, filetype){ if (filetype=="js"){ //if filename is a external JavaScript file var fileref=document.createElement('script') fileref.setAttribute("type","text/javascript") fileref.setAttribute("src", filename) } else if (filetype=="css"){ //if filename is an external CSS file var fileref=document.createElement("link") fileref.setAttribute("rel", "stylesheet") fileref.setAttribute("type", "text/css") fileref.setAttribute("href", filename) } if (typeof fileref!="undefined") document.getElementsByTagName("head")[0].appendChild(fileref) } loadjscssfile("myscript.js", "js") //dynamically load and add this .js file loadjscssfile("javascript.php", "js") //dynamically load "javascript.php" as a J which works. The problem is that variables can not be passed through from the external script to the parent script. I understand why this is, but i am wondering if there are other ways to load (or refresh) an external script? Hey Everyone, I'm working on a counter. I have two images - each with their own click count. Right now each time the page loads the counter goes back to zero. I would assume I need some kind of server side coding. Any recommendations? Here's what I have so far. <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> var counter = 0; function increaseloveit() { counter += 1; document.getElementById('loveit').value = counter; } var counter = 0; function increasehateit() { counter += 1; document.getElementById('hateit').value = counter; } </script> </head> <body> <form> <a href="#" onclick="javascript:increaseloveit();"><input type="button" value="Love It!" name="loveit" onclick="" /></a><input id="loveit" value="0" size="2" /></form> <form> <a href="#" onclick="javascript:increasehateit();"><input type="button" value="Hate It!" name="hateit" onclick="" /></a><input id="hateit" value="0" size="2" /></form> </body> </html> H, I'm trying to create an sms form. but I want the users to be able to monitor the characters and sms number as they type...taking 160 characters to be 1 page. pls I'll need help with coding this form to display characters left in 'ch_count' box and number of pages in the 'pages' box while typing in the 'message' textarea....hope it's clear enough...thanks Code: <p> <textarea name="message" cols="" rows="" id="message"></textarea> </p> <p> <input name="ch_count" type="text" id="ch_count" size="8" /> characters left <input name="pages" type="text" id="pages" size="8" /> pages </p> Hey Everyone, I'm trying to set up two different buttons that count their own individual clicks. So far I have everything except where one button leaves off, the other picks up. So if I click the left one three times it shows the number 3, and then if I click the button next to it, that button picks up at 4. I want each button to have its own count. Any ideas? I am very new to JS and very willing to learn. The code was originally found on this site and I have tweaked it and now it doesn't work...Any assistance would be much appreciated. <script type = "text/javascript"> var seconds; var clockId; function startClock(seconds){ timeInSeconds = parseInt(seconds); clockId = setInterval("tick()",1000); } function runClock() { var seconds = timeInSeconds; if (seconds > 60) { // stop at "" seconds alert ("Your time is up!"); clearInterval(clockId); // stop counting return false; } else { timeInSecs++; } var hours= Math.floor(seconds/3600); seconds %= 3600; var mins = Math.floor(seconds/60); secs %= 60; var result = ((hours < 10 ) ? "0" : "" ) + hours + ":" + ( (mins < 10) ? "0" : "" ) + mins + ":" + ( (secondss < 10) ? "0" : "" ) + seconds; document.getElementById("countdown").innerHTML = result; } startClock(0); // start count at 0 seconds </script> <span id="countdown" style="font-weight: bold;"></span> Hi, I am trying to build a counter in javascript. The time on the counter should be displayed in hours, minutes and seconds<24:00:00>. When the counter reaches 00:00:00, it should stop.I read some books and they say that I must use the setInterval function to implement the timer. The problem is I don't know how to begin it. Could anybody give me some guidance on where to begin to do something like this. My javascript skills are basic as you can probably tell but I do like to learn it step by step. Thanks in advance I am using the counter script below to display a count from 1-36. Does anyone know how to edit the javascript to flash or blink the number 36 a few times, and then loop the script to start over and count from 1-36 again (and again)? Here's the script: <html> <head> <title></title> </head> <script type="text/javascript"> var t, max, i; function Increase(amount) { max = amount; i = parseInt(document.getElementById("count").value); t = setInterval("SetIncrease()", 500); } function SetIncrease() { document.getElementById("count").value = ++i; if(i == max) { clearTimeout(t); } } </script> <body onLoad="Increase(36);"> <input id="count" type="text" value="1" style="width:40px;font-family:georgia;font-size:30px;font-weight:bold;color:#CC0000;border: 0px solid #000000;text-align:right;background-color:#FFFF00;" align="center"> </body> </html> Many thanks! hello, I have a textbox in my .net page, and totally new to java script. How do i get a script that will count the data being written in the text box to show increments of 100 and write the value to the bottom of the textbox. e.g. When u get to 100, at the bottom it says "1st hundred" ... and to 200 it writes "2nd hundred" UP to 500 ??? Please help thanks Hello. My goal is to load the JS for a specific element before displaying that element. I integrated a third part script, and it works well. I set the timer he The JS is in my heading as <script type="text/javascript" src="countdownpro.js"></script> About mid-body I have: <span id="countdown1">2010-07-20 00:00:00 GMT+00:00</span> which allows for the setting of a target date to countdown to. When the page first loads it shows the above long format target time, until the js/meta tags kick in to modify it to just show the actual countdown as 00:00:00. I have attached countdownpro.js to this post. I tried shifting the function CD_Init() to the top of the script, and also appended it inline with the .html. I tried setting the big external script to "defer", but neither arrangement worked. I also tried placing the src file right at the top. I appreciate your help.
