JavaScript - Don't Know Where To Place Jquery Script In Wordpress
I've wrote a jQuery script to fade some lines of text on the page. I've tested it and know it works. I've tried adding it to my WordPress homepage and testing it locally, but it doesn't work, I don't really know what I'm doing, and I can't make heads nor tails of the codex. I'd appreciate either a simple explanation or a real-world example
Here are the steps I've taken: 1. added the line <?php wp_enqueue_script("jquery"); ?> just above the wp_head line. 2. added the script just below the wp_head line 3. Used the "No Conflict" syntax of jQuery(document).ready(function() {. Here's what the header looks like where I put my script Code: <?php /** * Template Name: Home Page * * @package WPFramework * @subpackage Template */ ?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" <?php language_attributes(); ?>> <head> <meta charset="<?php bloginfo('charset'); ?>" /> <?php if (is_search()) { ?> <meta name="robots" content="noindex, nofollow" /> <?php } ?> <title> <?php if (function_exists('is_tag') && is_tag()) { single_tag_title("Tag Archive for ""); echo '" - '; } elseif (is_archive()) { wp_title(''); echo ' Archive - '; } elseif (is_search()) { echo 'Search for "'.wp_specialchars($s).'" - '; } elseif (!(is_404()) && (is_single()) || (is_page())) { wp_title(''); echo ' - '; } elseif (is_404()) { echo 'Not Found - '; } if (is_home()) { bloginfo('name'); echo ' - '; bloginfo('description'); } else { bloginfo('name'); } if ($paged>1) { echo ' - page '. $paged; } ?> </title> <link rel="shortcut icon" href="/favicon.ico"> <link rel="stylesheet" href="<?php bloginfo('stylesheet_url'); ?>"> <link rel="pingback" href="<?php bloginfo('pingback_url'); ?>"> <?php if ( is_singular() ) wp_enqueue_script('comment-reply'); ?> <?php wp_enqueue_script("jquery"); ?> <?php wp_head(); ?> <script type="text/javascript"> jQuery(document).ready(function() { //set all the divs opacity to 0 $("#rotator div").css({opacity: 0}); //show the current div $("#rotator div.current").css({opacity: 1}); //run the rotateImages function every 3 seconds setInterval("rotateBanners()", 4000); }); function rotateBanners () { var curBanner = $("#rotator div.current"); //get whatever div is after the current banner var nxtBanner = curBanner.next(); //if there's nothing left, go back to top of loop if (nxtBanner.length == 0) nxtBanner = $("#rotator div:first"); curBanner.removeClass('current').addClass("previous").animate({ opacity: 0.0 }, 1500); nxtBanner.css({ opacity: 0.0 }).addClass("current").animate({ opacity: 1.0 }, 1500, function() { curBanner.removeClass("previous"); }); }; </script> </head> Similar TutorialsI'm using this Lightbox plugin with jQuery and wanted to know if there's a way to place a link inside the lightbox caption or anywhere inside. Or is there another lightbox plugin that can do this?
On my wordpress based website, I have jquery for the top button selection part on the homepage, and lightbox for the gallery, and they work fine. But when I enter the url with a GET (.com?something), they don't work. I can't figure out if it is a jQuery error, or jQuery with wordpress's url structure. Ex: http://www.naturallookinstitute.com/gallery/ - OK http://www.naturallookinstitute.com/gallery?get - Lightbox broken http://www.naturallookinstitute.com/ - OK http://www.naturallookinstitute.com?get - Top header selector broken I have a slideshow that allows the user to see the previous slide title and the next slide title along with the current slide and its content. I tested locally not in WP and the code worked fine. Once I placed my source within WP everything went south. I inspector the first line in the script seems to be what is having the issues - $(window).load(function(){ and I am unsure what to do next. The source was used from Edit fiddle - JSFiddle the page I am trying to get to work is located here - Sevices | Q&D CONSTRUCTION, INC.Q&D CONSTRUCTION, INC. I am open to any suggestions. Code: <script type='text/javascript' src="//cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/jquery.cycle2/20130801/jquery.cycle2.min.js"></script> <style type='text/css'> .cycle-slide { width: 100%; text-align: center; } img { max-width: 300px; } #next { float: right; } #prev { float: left; } .center { text-align: center; } </style> <script type="text/javascript">//<![CDATA[ $(window).load(function(){ var slideshow = $('.cycle-slideshow'); maxSlides = slideshow.data('cycle.opts').slideCount; slideshow.on({ 'cycle-update-view': function(event, optionHash, outgoingSlideEl, incomingSlideEl, forwardFlag) { UpdateTitles(); } }); function UpdateTitles(){ var currentSlide = slideshow.data('cycle.opts').currSlide; activeSlide = $(".cycle-slide-active"); activeTitle = activeSlide.data('title'); if(currentSlide == 0){ nextTitle = activeSlide.next().data('title'); prevTitle = $(".cycle-slide").eq(maxSlides).data('title'); } else if(currentSlide == maxSlides-1){ prevTitle = activeSlide.prev().data('title'); nextTitle = $(".cycle-slide").eq(0).data('title'); } else { nextTitle = activeSlide.next().data('title'); prevTitle = activeSlide.prev().data('title'); } $('h1').html(activeTitle); $('#prev').html("Previous: "+prevTitle); $('#next').html("Next: "+nextTitle); } UpdateTitles(); });//]]> </script> I have placed the <script></script> in the <head></head> tags and the page will not work. But placing the <script> below the element that the JS works with allows the page to work but thought the correct method to use was place all JS functions inside the <head> tags? here is a link to the folder I am testing this out on. http://www.realistichostings.com/test_booking/ I have named the two files accordingly, test_booking_page-script is in head tags.php test_booking_page-script is outside head tags.php can anyone tell me why the code works outside the head tag but not when i is inside the head tag ? I've got this script for string replacement that searches for a string, decides if it is inside of an "a" or "img" tag, and then replaces it with a new string. Unfortunately, I need it to read multiple inputs and outputs and then replace them. Here's the code: Code: <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.6.4/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> var newString='<a href="#">New String</a>'; var oldString="Old String"; var rex= new RegExp(oldString,"gim"); function replaceString(elem){ $(elem).contents().filter(function() { if($(this).get(0).tagName!="A" && $(this).get(0).tagName!="IMG"){ if(this.nodeType==3){ this.nodeValue=this.nodeValue.replace(rex,'##temp##'); }else{ replaceString(this); } } }); } $(document).ready(function(e) { replaceString('div#textarea'); $('div#textarea').html($('div#textarea').html().replace(/##temp##/gim,newString)); }); </script> The script currently replaces "Old String" with "New String". Can we make it replace "Old String #1" with "New String #1" as well as "Old String #2" with "New String #2"? Thank you all for any assistance you can give! Hello guys, I need some help. I am very noob in Jquery and Mootools .. and they were getting conflicted on one page. I tried every tutorial available online but I couldn't get my jquery slideshow and mootools menu to work together. Not even by the jquery no conflict command. Code: window.addEvent('domready', function(){ //-vertical var mySlide = new Fx.Slide('v.menu-4'); mySlide.hide(); $('toggle-4').addEvent('click', function(e){ e = new Event(e); mySlide.toggle(); e.stop(); }); }); This script is for vertical menus and written for mootools 1.11 Can anybody help me out? I currently have this on my companies website and it's having a bit of trouble sometimes where it will only work after a refresh. Is it possible to do a refresh of this div and script as soon as the site loads, instead of using the auto refresh. I tried using auto refresh and it works but whatever time interval I put for the auto refresh is the time that the script pops up, so it kind of just makes it worst. Hi I'm trying to load a part of a page (that has script in it) into another page using jquery. However, though the html loads in correctly, none of the script is working. I'm using code from http://css-tricks.com/video-screenca...namic-content/ ie. the pages all work without java (static pages) and when java is enabled, instead of going to bio.html you get taken to ..#bio.html. However if I've got any script I would like to be loaded .. ie. lightbox gallery or even a simple jav split and put back together email address hider. Any help greatly appreciated. I'm not very clued up about jquery at the moment unfortunately and though I've been trying to read and learn, alot is going over my head.. Not sure how best it is to show you the page as it's not live yet. Maybe if it helps I can upload a zip of the site. It's a simple 6 page musician site. Though my code is exactly like the css-tricks page, just that I have a lightbox on one page (which loads fine if there's no hash in the address - but when hash is there, it shows thumbnails, and when you click one, it just takes you to the larger .jpg destination page (no lightboxness etc).) Thanks How can i run a script after the window.open loads completely?
how do i make a wordpress website with tabs to different sub-sections without changing pages, its almost seems like an iframe... example: http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/google.com [look at the tabbing, and how it doesn't change URL] how can i make it like this using wordpress? is there a plugin? also, i need something that will make an iframe for me [of another website] but make it impossible to click or right-click, BUT can scroll. is there some type of plugin for wordpress that can help me do that? [so i can customize the template of the iframe and the page the holds the iframe] thanks!! (: Hi, I am making a widget to work on any site, that means not my site, so I have no control of what other libraries are used on the page. Thats why I am loading my own jQuery libraries dynamically and then execute my own code. An issue I have that some sites are loading fine and all is working as expected, but some sites are executing the code 2 times. I have made a page dump and put on my own server, so I can replicate the issue better. GOOD: here is a page that works OK: (see the button that says: send these contact details and map to your mobile.) Code: http://test.plustest.info/suffolk/contact.html BAD: here is the page that shows the button I am trying to load 2 times: Code: http://test.plustest.info/cream.html As you can see the button appears 2 times, which is wrong... Even it shows 2 times, the popup appears just ok when you click on the button. Would anyone be able to check what can be wrong here? the code is in the: Code: <div id="now_send_it_wrapper"> so its easier to find. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Vladas Hey there! I can't seem to figure out what the problem is hurr! :\ Hello, I have this short script he Code: function resizeImages() { //Function will be ran onload in the <body> tag var img = document.images; //Puts all the images in an array for (var i = 0; i < img.length; i++) { //A loop to execute a set of functions for every image var parentElement = img[i].parentNode; //Gets parent element of image var parentWidth = parentElement.width(); //Gets width of parent element (value is an integer without "px") var imgWidth = img[i].width(); //Gets image width var parentHeight = parentElement.height(); //Gets height of parent element var imgHeight = img[i].height();//Gets image height if (parentWidth < imgWidth){ img[i].width(parentWidth); //Sets width of image to width of parent element img[i].style.height = "auto"; //Scales height } if (parentHeight > imgHeight){ img[i].height(parentHeight); //Sets height of image to height of parent element img[i].style.width = "auto"; //Scales width } alert(parentWidth); //To test if parentNode is working correctly. Should return an integer. } } It's got some JQuery in it (.width() and .height()) to make manipulation of the dimensions easier to manage. Basically, it's supposed to resize all the images on the webpage to the size of their parent elements (divs) without losing aspect ratio. Image overflow will be hidden so that no matter what the aspect ratio of the image and it's container the largest possible area of the image will be exposed. The alert() function I have at the bottom is supposed to run as a test that each loop is working correctly. However, my images don't get resized and I get no alert. I think the loop may be breaking out before it goes through everything. Anyone have ideas? I'm not a Javascript coder. Thank you, Jared Hi, I have a form that I am submitting using JQuery, if I copy and paste the form into my main page, everything works fine. If I try to call the form in a separate page to onload none of the buttons work. Is there away around this? Not sure if providing my script helps or not, but just in case here it: Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <title>Messages</title> <head> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="style.css" /> <script type="text/javascript" src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.3/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function (){ $('#submitNewSend, #submitNewSend2, #submitNewSave, #submitNewSave2').click(function(){ var btn = $(this).attr('id'); if(btn == 'submitNewSend'){ file = 'insertMessage.php'; Msg = 'Your message has been sent'; } else if(btn == 'submitNewSend2'){ file = 'insertMessage.php'; Msg = 'Your message has been sent'; } else if (btn == 'submitNewSave'){ file = 'insertSaveMessage.php'; Msg = 'Your message has been saved'; } else if (btn == 'submitNewSave2'){ file = 'insertSaveMessage.php'; Msg = 'Your message has been saved'; } var data = $('#MessageNew').serialize(); $.post (file,data, function(){ alert(Msg); $('#MessageNew').each (function(){ this.reset(); }); }); return false; }); }); </script> <script type="text/javascript"> function loadXMLDoc(File,ID){ if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); } else { xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=function(){ if (xmlhttp.readyState==4 && xmlhttp.status==200){ document.getElementById(ID).innerHTML=xmlhttp.responseText; } } xmlhttp.open("POST",File,true); xmlhttp.send(); } </script> <head> <body onload="loadXMLDoc('getloadCompose.php','txtHintCompose')"> <br /> <br /> <div id="txtHintCompose"></div> </form> </body> </html> And the getloadCompose.php is: Code: <form action="" method="post" name="MessageNew" id="MessageNew" autocomplete="OFF"> <table id="new" width="60%"> <tr> <th>Compose Message</th> </tr> <tr> <td class="first"> <input type="button" class="button3" name="submitNewSend2" id="submitNewSend2" value="Send"> <input type="button" class="button3" name="submitNewSave2" id="submitNewSave2" value="Save"> <input type="button" class="button3" name="submitNewCancel" value="Cancel" onclick="loadXMLDocRefresh('getloadInbox.php','txtHintMessage')" /> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <br /> <label class="two"><b>To:</b></label><input type="text" class="input" name="to" id="to" value=""><input type="text" class="input" name="recipient" id="recipient" value="" onkeyup="showHint(this.value, 'getEmailName.php','txtHintEmailTo')" size="70" /><br /><br /> <div id="txtHintEmailTo"></div> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <label class="two"><b>Subject:</b></label><input type="text" class="input" name="subject" id="subject" value="enter subject" onclick="this.value='';" onfocus="this.select()" onblur="this.value=!this.value?'enter subject':this.value;" size="70" /><br /><br /> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <label class="two"><b>Message: </b></label><div class="scroll"><textarea rows="10" cols="75" class="input" name="messsage" id="message">Enter Message</textarea></div><br /><br /><br /> </td> </tr> <tr> <td class="first"> <input type="button" class="button3" name="submitNewSend" id="submitNewSend" value="Send"> <input type="button" class="button3" name="submitNewSave" id="submitNewSave" value="Save"> <input type="button" class="button3" name="submitNewCancel" value="Cancel" onclick="loadXMLDocRefresh('getloadInbox.php','txtHintMessage')" /> </td> </tr> </table> </form> I know I have buttons doing the same function,there is an ease of use reason for it. I can put everything on my main page if necessary, but it wouldn't really be doing exactly what I want it to do. This is a really awesome script that I'm sure all of you can put to use if you haven't yet heard of it. However, I'm trying to get it to fade a background image on my css styled navigation for my a:hover. Here is the script with a little simple tutorial on how to set it up: http://bavotasan.com/tutorials/creat...r-fade-effect/ My only other knowledge is in PHP, so after about 2 hours of fail in this client-side language, I decided it was about time I should post where some experienced people can help. I really appreciate all time you spend on this, and don't think it will take a moderate Javascript programmer very long. This is the link to my site so far: http://matt.mw/help-request You can see the script working as it is on my little yellow MW logo on the right side of the navigation. So in my scenario, I am looking to fade button.png to button-hover.png (both repeating on the x axis). Any ideas? So, i have this code which retrieves php files for me using jquery and id love to get it working with Jquery history plugin. I tried modifying the code i got from the ajax demo to work for me, but i just couldnt do it as i do not know any javascript really.. ( actually what i tried was simply to change "#ajax-links a" to "#menu li a" and .html to .php ..but nothing.. :rolleyes: Id be very gratefull if someone would help me out with this one. All related code can be found bellow (the ones that should be needed anyways): This is the code that retrieves php files inside "#content" when item from "#menu li a" with the specified id is clicked Code: $(document).ready(function(){ //References var change = $("#menu li a"); var loading = $("#loading"); var content = $("#content"); //Manage click events change.click(function(){ //show the loading bar showLoading(); //load selected section if(this.id == "home") { change.load(this.className='current-page'); content.slideUp(); content.load("pages/index.php", hideLoading); content.slideDown(); } else if(this.id == "secondpage") { change.load(this.className='current-page'); content.slideUp(); content.load("pages/secondpage.php", hideLoading); content.slideDown(); } else { //hide loading bar if there is no selected section hideLoading(); } }); //show loading bar function showLoading(){ loading .css({visibility:"visible"}) .css({opacity:"1"}) .css({display:"block"}) ; } //hide loading bar function hideLoading(){ loading.fadeTo(1000, 0); }; }); Heres the structure of the menu/content Code: <ul id="menu"> <li><a id="home" class="normal" href="#Home"></a></li> <li><a id="secondpage" class="normal" href="#Secondpage"></a></li> </ul> <div id="content"> <ul id="sec-menu"> <li><a id="link1" class="normal" href="#">Link1</a></li> <li><a id="link2" class="normal" href="#">Link2</a></li> </ul> </div> Heres the code that jquery history plugin uses in demo for ajax Code: jQuery(document).ready(function($) { function load(num) { $('#content').load(num +".html"); } $.history.init(function(url) { load(url == "" ? "1" : url); }); $('#ajax-links a').live('click', function(e) { var url = $(this).attr('href'); url = url.replace(/^.*#/, ''); $.history.load(url); return false; }); }); Hi everyone, I am using a jQuery cookie script to set the cookie of some elements on my website. One of the problems is that I need the cookie to not expire after one day, I need it to expire after a while (I'm going to start off with a year). Here's my script, the red part is what I've been editing. Code: /** * Cookie plugin * * Copyright (c) 2006 Klaus Hartl (stilbuero.de) * Dual licensed under the MIT and GPL licenses: * http://www.opensource.org/licenses/mit-license.php * http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.html * */ /** * Create a cookie with the given name and value and other optional parameters. * * @example $.cookie('the_cookie', 'the_value'); * @desc Set the value of a cookie. * @example $.cookie('the_cookie', 'the_value', { expires: 7, path: '/', domain: 'jquery.com', secu true }); * @desc Create a cookie with all available options. * @example $.cookie('the_cookie', 'the_value'); * @desc Create a session cookie. * @example $.cookie('the_cookie', null); * @desc Delete a cookie by passing null as value. Keep in mind that you have to use the same path and domain * used when the cookie was set. * * @param String name The name of the cookie. * @param String value The value of the cookie. * @param Object options An object literal containing key/value pairs to provide optional cookie attributes. * @option Number|Date expires Either an integer specifying the expiration date from now on in days or a Date object. * If a negative value is specified (e.g. a date in the past), the cookie will be deleted. * If set to null or omitted, the cookie will be a session cookie and will not be retained * when the the browser exits. * @option String path The value of the path atribute of the cookie (default: path of page that created the cookie). * @option String domain The value of the domain attribute of the cookie (default: domain of page that created the cookie). * @option Boolean secure If true, the secure attribute of the cookie will be set and the cookie transmission will * require a secure protocol (like HTTPS). * @type undefined * * @name $.cookie * @cat Plugins/Cookie * @author Klaus Hartl/klaus.hartl@stilbuero.de */ /** * Get the value of a cookie with the given name. * * @example $.cookie('the_cookie'); * @desc Get the value of a cookie. * * @param String name The name of the cookie. * @return The value of the cookie. * @type String * * @name $.cookie * @cat Plugins/Cookie * @author Klaus Hartl/klaus.hartl@stilbuero.de */ jQuery.cookie = function(name, value, options) { if (typeof value != 'undefined') { // name and value given, set cookie options = options || {}; if (value === null) { value = ''; options.expires = -1; } var expires = ''; if (options.expires && (typeof options.expires == 'number' || options.expires.toUTCString)) { var date; if (typeof options.expires == 'number') { date = new Date(); date.setTime(date.getTime() + (options.expires * 24 * 60 * 60 * 1000 * 365)); } else { date = options.expires; } expires = '; expires=' + date.toUTCString(); // use expires attribute, max-age is not supported by IE } // CAUTION: Needed to parenthesize options.path and options.domain // in the following expressions, otherwise they evaluate to undefined // in the packed version for some reason... var path = options.path ?
