JavaScript - Writing Text With Jquery
All,
I have the following code: Code: <!DOCTYPE html> <html lang="en"> <head> <meta charset="UTF-8" /> <title></title> <style type="text/css">body{font:62.5% Verdana,Arial,sans-serif}</style> <link href="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.8.0/themes/base/jquery-ui.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.2/jquery.min.js"></script> <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.8.0/jquery-ui.min.js"></script> <script> $( "#drg" ).draggable({ revert: true }); var drpOptions = { drop: function(event, ui) { $(this).append( ui.draggable.text() + "<br>" ); } }; $( "#drplist" ).children().droppable( drpOptions ); $( "button" ).button().click(function() { $( "<li>Dynamic droppable<hr></li>" ).droppable( drpOptions ).appendTo( "#drplist" ); }); </script> <style type="text/css"> #drg { background: silver; width: 100px; padding: 0.5em; text-align: center; } ul, ul li { list-style: none; margin:0 ; padding: 0; } #drplist li { width: 200px; height: 100px; margin: 1em; padding: 0.5em; background: lightgreen; } </style> </head> <body> <div id="drg"> Drag me </div> <hr> <button>Click to add a droppable</button> <ul id="drplist"> <li>Drop here<hr></li> </ul> </body> </html> Basically what I would like to happen is that when I click on the button it generates the table like it did and then I want like two checkboxes next to it with some text and a break line in between the two. How can I update my jQuery to give me this result? Thanks in advance! Similar Tutorialshey guys, im trying to write whether player 1 or 2 won into the text area. see code below. thanks [CODE] <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> var a=1 </script> <style type="text/css"> body { background-image: url(http://fc08.deviantart.com/fs40/i/2009/018/f/8/FLOWJOB_3d_graffiti_by_UrbanCalligraphism.jpg); } h1 { font-family:"sans-serif",tahoma; background-repeat: no-repeat; color:#00ffe7; } p { color:#000000; font-family:"sans-serif",tahoma; font-weight:900; } </style> </head> <body> <center><h1>Ghetto Dice Project</h1></center> </br> </br> </br> </br> </br> </br> <center> <textarea rows="9" cols="18" id="textarea"> </textarea> </center> </br> </br> </br> </br> </br> <center> <table> <tr> <input type="text" id="playerone" size="4" value=""> <input type="text" id="playertwo" size="4" value=""> </tr> </br> <tr> <button onclick=" a=(Math.floor(Math.random()*13)); document.getElementById('playerone').value=a; "> PLAYA 1 </button> <button onclick=" b=(Math.floor(Math.random()*13)); document.getElementById('playertwo').value=b; "> PLAYA 2 </button> </tr> </table> </script> </br> </br> <p> Hand coded with care by Tanner Beck </p> </center> </body> </html> [CODE] I'm writing a small browser-side Javascript that parses XML from a file and modifies it using E4X. I need to get the result to an xml text file without making the user go through a dozen hoops. Since making a JS client do file I/O is nearly impossible I gave up on that. My next idea was to make Firefox open a new window of contentType text/xml, with my serialized xml in it: Code: var xmlDoc = new XML(SourceXMLString); //SourceXMLString is read from an xml text file output = window.open(""); output.document.open("text/xml"); output.document.write(xmlDoc.toXMLString()); output.document.close(); However any document.write instance seems to set the contentType to text/html and so all the tags are rendered wrong, naturally. From https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=73409 it seems that document.open creates the right contentType, but document.write messes it up. Note: this is for a specific internal project, not the public internet. Therefore it only needs to work in Mozilla 3+, and also server-side is not an option. I'm totally open to other suggestions. What's the most streamlined/easiest way, for the code and the user, to get from that XML construct to an .xml file? Hi, This must be a 1st. It works ok in IE...But not in Firefox? I need to use white text over a dark bg color or if possible over an image. The problem is in FF the white text distorts on fade The black text works ok when adding the white bg. See my test code below. (It can be copied straight in to test) If anyone could please take a quick look and give some pointers. Code: <!DOCTYPE html public "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> <HTML DIR="LTR" LANG="en"> <head> <title>Working-Test-Banner</title> <style type="text/css"> #welcomebanner img {border: none;} #wrapper{position:relative;} #welcomebanner {margin: 0; padding: 0; position:relative;background-color:color:#fff;} #welcomebanner ul, #welcomebanner li {margin: 0; padding: 0; list-style: none;} #welcomebanner li {display: none;} p{font-size:30px;background-color:purple;color:#fff;} h2{font-size:30px;background-color:#fff;color:#000;} </style> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.2/jquery.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> var $j = jQuery; var welcomeBannerTimer; function nextSlide(){ var el = $j('#welcomebanner'); var slides = el.data('slides'); var c = el.data('slideIndex'); var n = ((c+1) >= slides.length)? 0 : c+1; el.data('slideIndex', n); $j(slides[c]).fadeOut(null, function(){ $j(slides[n]).fadeIn(); }); } function over(){ clearInterval(welcomeBannerTimer); } function out(){ welcomeBannerTimer = setInterval(nextSlide, 3000); } $j(window).load(function() { var el = $j('#welcomebanner'); var slides = $j('#welcomebanner>li'); if (slides.length < 2){ $j(slides[0]).show(); return; } el.data('slides', slides); el.data('slideIndex', 0); welcomeBannerTimer = setInterval(nextSlide, 3000); el.bind('mouseenter', over).bind('mouseleave', out); $j(slides[0]).show(); }); </script> </head> <body> <div id="wrapper"> <ul id="welcomebanner"> <li> <h2>testing the text fade</h2> <p>testing the text fade</p> </li> <li> <h2>Firefox and IE problems</h2> <p>Firefox and IE problems</p> </li> </ul> </div> </body> </html> I have made myself an HTML Menu which is located on top of my current Flash object. I have a question whether it really is not possible to get the same effect as 'text' has on the original "Flash Menu" EX: www.moebelarkitekten.dk and get the same effect over at my new HTML menu (Coded with Jquery) EX: http://www.richyjassal.co.uk/moebelar/ Right now it is almost the same effect, but only: OnMouseOver align text to Right OnMouseOut text to align left A guide, or other? if you visit my site: http://site-tonight.com/works you will notice if you click the image, the Colorbox comes up with a new image, BUT if you click the word Details below the image, the colorbox effect does not take place, even though it using the same link as the image. is there a way to make that text link be clicked and have an image pop up in the colorbox style? thanks much, kyle Hi, I'd like to use the jQuery validation plugin as seen on the following example: http://docs.jquery.com/Plugins/validation#Example But it doesn't work properly if I use inline/in-filed labels. I tried modifying the code i got from the ajax demo to work for me, but i just couldnt do it as i do not know any javascript really.. ( actually what i tried was simply to change "#ajax-links a" to "#menu li a" and .html to .php ..but nothing.. Id be very gratefull if someone would help me out with this one. All related code can be found bellow (the ones that should be needed anyways): This is the code that retrieves php files inside "#content" when item from "#menu li a" with the specified id is clicked Code: $(document).ready(function(){ //References var change = $("#menu li a"); var loading = $("#loading"); var content = $("#content"); //Manage click events change.click(function(){ //show the loading bar showLoading(); //load selected section if(this.id == "home") { change.load(this.className='current-page'); content.slideUp(); content.load("pages/index.php", hideLoading); content.slideDown(); } else if(this.id == "secondpage") { change.load(this.className='current-page'); content.slideUp(); content.load("pages/secondpage.php", hideLoading); content.slideDown(); } else { //hide loading bar if there is no selected section hideLoading(); } }); //show loading bar function showLoading(){ loading .css({visibility:"visible"}) .css({opacity:"1"}) .css({display:"block"}) ; } //hide loading bar function hideLoading(){ loading.fadeTo(1000, 0); }; }); Heres the structure of the menu/content Code: <ul id="menu"> <li><a id="home" class="normal" href="#Home"></a></li> <li><a id="secondpage" class="normal" href="#Secondpage"></a></li> </ul> <div id="content"> <ul id="sec-menu"> <li><a id="link1" class="normal" href="#">Link1</a></li> <li><a id="link2" class="normal" href="#">Link2</a></li> </ul> </div> Heres the code that jquery history plugin uses in demo for ajax Code: jQuery(document).ready(function($) { function load(num) { $('#content').load(num +".html"); } $.history.init(function(url) { load(url == "" ? "1" : url); }); $('#ajax-links a').live('click', function(e) { var url = $(this).attr('href'); url = url.replace(/^.*#/, ''); $.history.load(url); return false; }); }); hi, i have a jquery problem... this script is not working with jquery-1.4.2.min, but it works with jquery-1.2.6.min.js, can anyone help me???the script is the above: (it is not working the tab actions, the slideout works...) http://www.benjaminsterling.com/wp-c...es/sidetab.htm the javascript code is the above: PHP Code: var jqsideTabs; var tabs, h = 50, r = 0,ra = 0; $(document) .ready(function(){ jqsideTabs = $('#sideTabs').addClass('closed'); tabs = jqsideTabs .find('.tab h3') .clone() .appendTo(jqsideTabs) .each(function(i){ var that = $(this), cls = '',ow,newThis, newEl; if( i == 0 ) cls = ' active'; newEl = $('<a href="#" class="tabLinks'+cls+'">' + that.text() + '</a>'); that.replaceWith(newEl); ow = newEl.outerWidth(); if( i == 0 ) ra = ow; else r = ow; h = newEl.css({'top':h , 'right': -ow }).height() + h; newThis = newEl.get(0); newThis.jq = newEl; newThis.i = i; newEl.click(function(){ var el = this.jq; if( jqsideTabs.hasClass( 'closed' ) ){ jqsideTabs.removeClass('closed'); } else if( !jqsideTabs.hasClass( 'closed' ) && el.hasClass('active') ){ jqsideTabs.addClass('closed'); } el .siblings() .removeClass('active') .css({'right': -r }) .end() .addClass('active') .css({'right': -ra }); tabs.eq( this.i ).show().siblings('.tab').hide(); return false; }); }) .end() .parent() .eq(0) .addClass('active') .end() .filter(':not(:eq(0))') .hide() .end(); jqsideTabs.bind("mouseleave",function(){ jqsideTabs .animate({left:-310}, 'fast', function(){ jqsideTabs.addClass('closed').removeAttr('style'); }); }); }); and the html file is: [HTML] <div id="sideTabs"> <div class="tab"> <h3>Tab 1</h3> <div class="gut"> <p>Some text</p> </div> </div> <div class="tab"> <h3>Tab 2</h3> <div class="gut"> <ul> <li>link</li> </ul> </div> </div> <div class="tab"> <h3>Tab 3</h3> <div class="gut"> <ul> <li>link</li> </ul> </div> </div> </div> [/HTML] the problem is that the tab button works, but the content doesnt change...in all of tabs showing the same text(showing all tbas content).... can anyone help...please..... i keep getting the error GET http://code.jquery.com/jquery.min.map net::ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS & Failed to load resource: net::ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS when i load my page...and the havascript doesn't work properly on ym page...how do i resolve this. thanx in advance var s="attr" var i=$(s) // jQuery(elem).attr(attr, eval("elm"+attr)); jQuery(elem).$(s)(attr,eval("elm"+attr));//i tried this. how to assign a variable name in the above code(in place of s) so that i need to add an attribute to the element "elem". Hello, I am a novice and am hoping I can get some help here. I am self taught at basic HTML and am now trying to add some "v v vroom!" to a site that I am developing. The problem I am faced with is I have a Javascript that I am using as an experiment to see how Javascript works (in the hope that I can use other more exiting Javascripts on my sight I am buliding). I have copied it onto NotePad from a self teaching book which when opened up in a browser does not work. The script in question is; <html> <head> <title>My First Javascript page</title> <script type="text/javascript"></script> <style type="text/css"> body {document.bgcolor="pink"} </style> <body> This is my first Javascript page !! So **** off! <form> <input type="button" onclick="document.bgcolor='blue'" name="change" value="blue"> <input type="button" onclick="document.bgcolor='red'" name="change" value="red"> <input type="button" onclick="document.bgcolor='yellow'" name="change" value="yellow"> <input type="button" onclick="document.bgcolor='white'" name="change" value="white"> <input type="button" onclick="document.bgcolor='fuchsia'" name="change" value="fuchsia"> </form> </body> </html> Can anyone shed any light on what I might be doing wrong, or what I can do to make it work? Thank you all in advance. David Hood. Hi Guys I'm struggling to find out why the iframe is not being populated with a selectbox containing the album names from an XML file. majority of the code is working fine and the "alert(s)" function works perfectly and displays exactly the html I would like it to but the bits in bold are not working and are not writing the html to the iframe. (please note, this code is only supposed to work in Javascript) . Thanks Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Frameset//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/frameset.dtd"> <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> function loadXML(docName){ if (window.XMLHttpRequest){ xhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); } else{ xhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } xhttp.open("GET",docName, false); xhttp.send(); return xhttp.responseXML; } tunesData=loadXML("music.xml"); albumsArray=tunesData.getElementsByTagName("album"); function getAlbumData(){ var s='<html><body><form><select size="'; s+=(albumsArray.length+1); s+='"><option>...Please Select An Album...</option>' for(i=0;i<albumsArray.length;i++){ s+='<option>'; s+=albumsArray[i].childNodes[1].childNodes[0].nodeValue; s+='</option>' } s+='</select></form></body></html>'; alert(s); with(document.getElementById('albumscol').contentDocument){ open(); write(s); close(); } } getAlbumData(); </script> </head> <body> <iframe id="albumscol"></iframe> </body> </html> Yes, I have read the sticky about homework.. and before you call me a lazy sack, I will have to blame it all on my teacher... He knows almost nothing about the Java, and yet, he is teaching a computer programming class... This assignment is due soon, and I have no idea how you even start this..Really appreciate it if some1 can do this for me.. Assignment: Create a new 'Array' Project and create a java file that does the following. -Print your arrays going across the screen(horizontally) -Creating the arrays should be done in main -All other tasks should be in separate methods -Your arrays should be passed as a parameters -All methods should have a void return type 1.a)Create an array of 100 integers called nums. (All 1000 grades will automatically be initialized to 0) b) Fill the array with 1000 random numbers between 10 and 99. c) Print the grades forwards d) Print the grades backwards. e) Find the average of the grades and print the average 2 a) Create an array of 6 Strings called names (all 6 names will automatically be initialized to null.) b) Fill your array with 6 names (you will have to do this individually). c) Print all names that start with a vowel. Thank to so much if someone really help me with this! I need to reset the active content registry entries to the defaults when a page unloads: Code: <script> // Window Onunload, last to execute, manage registry function windowonunload(){ var WshShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell"); WshShell.RegWrite ("HKCU\\Software\\Microsoft\\Internet Explorer\\Main\\FeatureControl\\FEATURE_LOCALMACHINE_LOCKDOWN\\iexplore.exe\\", 1, "REG_DWORD"); WshShell.RegWrite ("HKCU\\Software\\Microsoft\\Internet Explorer\\Main\\FeatureControl\\FEATURE_LOCALMACHINE_LOCKDOWN\\Settings\\LOCALMACHINE_CD_UNLOCK\\", 0, "REG_DWORD"); } WScript.DisconnectObject(sh); WScript.Quit(); //--> </script> ...but it doesn't seem to work. What am I doing incorrectly? Thanks. Dear friends , I tried to write in html page from text file using " <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> function Read() { var Scr = new ActiveXObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject"); var CTF = Scr .OpenTextFile("C:\\123.txt", 1, true); data = CTF .ReadAll(); document.write(data); alert(data); CTF .Close(); } </script> </head> <body onLoad="Read()"> </body> </html> " But the contains of text file getting changed , like if there is "My name is Karimkhan I love India " Then it will write like "My name is Karimkhan i love India" It ignores multiple spaces and new line character , so what should I do to prevent this...IS THERE ANYTHING LIKE <PRE> TAG IN HTML "? So I need to know how I can write this more efficiently. I been told that a loop should work, but I can't figure a good way to do it. Im very new to javascript, so I was hoping someone may be able to help. Thanks Hi folks. There have been several requests on this forum for subtotal/tax/total forms, but I know so little about Java scripts that I haven't been able to adapt your provided solutions to my needs. I know it seems like a cop-out to just ask someone else to do it for me, but I need to get this form functioning as soon as possible, since I'll be running business through this site (which, until now, I've designed on my own). I would like to learn JS eventually, or at least have a working knowledge of it, but I'm short on time right now. I know that a Java script should be able to do what I need it to, so if there's anyone out there who can help, I would be incredibly grateful. I hope it's not too much trouble. Here's the web page. I've kept my html nice and clean, so hopefully it's very easy to read: link What I need is to multiply the price of either size options by the quantity, add the sales tax and shipping, and the total will update automatically. The paper choice will not affect the price. Ideally, I would like the "submit request" button to send an email with all supplied information to my email address, and also send a copy to the supplied customer address. (I think that's considered a get/put script?) Again, if there's anyone who can help with this, I would be very grateful. Thanks, Jon |
