JavaScript - Pass Id Like Passing Value
Is it possible to pass the id onChange like in this example instead of the value
This is part of a large complex script, and I need the id as seperate function Code: <select name='color' onChange='this.form.F1.value=this.form.color.id' > <option value='Green' id='c1'>Green <option value='Red' id='c2'>Red <option value='Blue' id='c3'>Blue </select> <input type="text" name="F1" size="15" value="" onChange="this.value=this.form.color.id"> Similar TutorialsHello, i'm working on a 3 page survey. When hitting next, previous, or submit it passes the values of all the questions to the next page. I've got the whole thing working correcting except for one thing: When the box is "not" checked it passes no value. I'm needing it to have a value of "1" when checked and a value of "0" when not checked, and currently when its not checked and i pass the info it leaves it blank. I'd post the whole code to one of the pages but it's long , so i'll post the snipits of the code. Code: <script type="text/javascript"> /* <![CDATA[ */ function processQueryString() { var formData = location.search; formData = formData.substring(1, formData.length); while (formData.indexOf("+") != -1) { formData = formData.replace("+", " "); } formData = unescape(formData); var formArray = formData.split("&"); for (var i=0; i < formArray.length; ++i) { //document.writeln(formArray[i] + "<br />"); var sDataName = formArray[i].split("=") switch (sDataName[0]) { case ".lib_use": for (var j=0; j < document.getElementsByName(".lib_use").length; ++j) { if (document.getElementsByName(".lib_use").item(j).value == sDataName[1]) { document.getElementsByName(".lib_use").item(j).checked = true; //alert("lib_use set"); } } break; case ".lib_comp": if (sDataName[1] == 1) { document.getElementsByName(".lib_comp").checked = true; document.getElementsByName(".lib_comp").value= 1; } else { document.getElementsByName(".lib_comp").checked = false; document.getElementsByName(".lib_comp").value= 0; } break; default: alert("not caught = " + sDataName[0]); continue; } } } /* ]]> */ </script> <input type="checkbox" name=".lib_comp" id="lib_comp" value="1" /> The first case that i showed in my code is a radio button, and it passes correctly, i just wanted to show the "format" i was using in a working sense. The 2nd case is an example of the check boxes. Thanks for looking at this, and giving any suggestions you might have! Hi, I have what I assume started as a simple error and then trying to fix it I think I have made things so complicated I've become confused. I have two fields, a drop down list and a text field, when someone clicks on a value in a drop down list (I will show the results eventually but at the moment) I just want the result to echo in my getCategory.php and the same for the text field. Both php pages are currently being called. And at the moment contain $_REQUEST['category'] and $_REQUEST['ProductName'] respectively. Nothing is being echoed. I know the below code is wrong, but the more I try to correct it the worse it gets so I thought I would just leave it as is before I made it worse. Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function loadXMLDoc1(File,ID,Msg){ if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); } else { try{ xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP"); } catch (e) { xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } } xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=function(){ if (xmlhttp.readyState==4 && xmlhttp.status==200){ document.getElementById(ID).innerHTML=xmlhttp.responseText; } } var params=Msg; xmlhttp.open("POST",File, true); xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("Pragma", "Cache-Control:no-cache"); xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("Content-type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"); xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("Content-length", params.length); xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("Connection", "close"); xmlhttp.send(params); } </script> </head> <body> <label>Search by Category: </label> <select name="category" id="category" onchange='loadXMLDoc1("getCategory.php","txtHint","category")' class="input"> <option value="please select" selected"selected">Please Select</option> <option value="Clothes" name="Clothes" id="Clothes">Clothes</option> <option value="Bags" name="Bags" id="Bags">Bags</option> <option value="Hats" name="Hats" id="Hats">Hats</option> </select> <br /> <br /> <label>Search by name: </label> <input type="text" class="input" name="ProductName" id="ProductName" value="Search" size="30"/> <input type="button" value="Search" onclick="loadXMLDoc1('getProductName.php','txtHint', ProductName='(this.value)')" /> <br /> <br /> <div id="txtHint"></div> Dear all, I'm passing the variables myTitle and myLink to form.php using javascript. This is the way I'm doing it: Code: <a href='form.php?title=" + myTitle +"&link="+myLink+">Click me</a> It's working great but sometimes myTitle and myLink contain the plus character (+). When this happens it's not passed. In the case of the title, it's just a problem of looks but in the case of the link, well, the link won't work without the character. As an example if the title is: Laptop + Accessories What is passed is: Laptop Accessories What can I do to pass also the plus character?? Thanks a lot!! Hi, I've had problems in the past understanding this, however, after reading this tutorial, I understand. In some languages, like VB6, I notice the "byVal" and the "byRef" is specifically used. In javascript, I don't notice those specifics typed in functions. Is the "default" by value when using in a function to change a parameter? If it is, what is the syntax for using by reference, or is that ever used? My question arises from this notation taken from here: Quote: Note that it is the value that a has at the time that it is passed into the function that gets substituted into the argument and not the value that the original variable has at that point in the processing. It is the values in the parameters that the function uses and not the variables. This is called pass by value . In those languages where you can pass the actual variable into the function instead of just passing its value the method used to do so is called pass by reference . Had we been able to pass the variables into the function by reference rather than by value then the final value in b would have been -16 instead of -14. Here is the example (passing by value): Code: function myfunction(y, z) { a += y; b -= z; } var a = 0; var b = 10; var c = 3; var d = 4; var e = 2; myfunction(c, d); myfunction(d, e); myfunction(9, 2); myfunction(b, a); Results: myFunction(c, d); output: 0 + 3 = 3(y), 10 - 4 = 6(z) myFunction(d, e); output: 3 + 4 = 7(y), 6 - 2 = 4(z) myFunction(9, 2); output: 7 + 9 = 16(y), 4 - 2 = 2(z) myFunction(b, a); output: 2 + 16 = 18(y), 2 -16 = -14(z) Thanks! Hi!! I am trying to find out solution for this since long. I tried js but as I am not good with it, I just want to do this through PHP. I am adding dynamic rows when user clicks the Add Row button.I want to show the calculated amount like: line_total=qty*unit_price; PHP Code: if (isset($_POST['qty']) && sizeof($_POST['qty']) > 0) { for($i = 0, $maxi = count($_POST['qty']); $i < $maxi; $i++) { $quantity = (isset($_POST['qty'][$i]) && !empty($_POST['qty'][$i])) ? mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['qty'][$i]) : 0; $description = (isset($_POST['description'][$i]) && !empty($_POST['description'][$i])) ? mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['description'][$i]) : 0; $unit_price = (isset($_POST['unit_price'][$i]) && !empty($_POST['unit_price'][$i])) ? mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['unit_price'][$i]) : 0; $line_total = (isset($_POST['line_total'][$i]) && !empty($_POST['line_total'][$i])) ? mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['line_total'][$i]) : 0; ?> <?php $myvar=$quantity*$unit_price; ?> <script type="text/javascript"> jsvar = <?php echo $myvar; ?>; document.write(jsvar); // Test to see if its prints array: </script> } } This code works very well and displays the values. But if I use it in the function like; PHP Code: function line(elem) { jsvar = <?php echo $myvar; ?>; document.getElementById("line_total").value = jsvar; } And call it: PHP Code: <input type="text" name="line_total[]" id="line_total" onBlur="return line(this)"> It is not showing the result. Kindly guide me where I am going wrong? This is my function to add rows: PHP Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function addRow(tableID) { var table = document.getElementById(tableID); var rowCount = table.rows.length; if(rowCount<3) { var row = table.insertRow(rowCount); var colCount = table.rows[0].cells.length; for(var i=0; i<colCount; i++) { var newcell = row.insertCell(i); newcell.innerHTML = table.rows[0].cells[i].innerHTML; //alert(newcell.childNodes); switch(newcell.childNodes[0].type) { case "text": newcell.childNodes[0].value = ""; break; case "checkbox": newcell.childNodes[0].checked = false; break; case "select-one": newcell.childNodes[0].selectedIndex = 0; break; } } } else { alert("Maximum Limit Of 3 Rows Reached"); } } </script> Please help me I'm using a geolocator service to find the zipcode of a web page visitor using the code below. Please help me, i know its very basic thing but i didn't trace my mistake. Thanks i n advance I'm trying to overcome one feat, and I've just ran the course of my little knowledge of javascript. Here is the code that concerns us. Code: function loadXMLDoc() { if (window.XMLHttpRequest) {// code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); } else {// code for IE6, IE5 xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=function() { if (xmlhttp.readyState==4 && xmlhttp.status==200) { populateParentWindow(xmlhttp.responseText); } } xmlhttp.open("GET","https://www.syncupsolutions.net/currentdirectory-<?php echo $_COOKIE['User'] ?>.txt",true); xmlhttp.send(); } function populateParentWindow(Directory) { $("#FTPContents").load('functions/testftp.php?HASH=' + Get_Cookie("ftphash") + "&reload=" + Directory) ; }; $(function(){ $('#swfupload-control').swfupload({ upload_url: 'functions/upload-file.php?UID=' + Get_Cookie("User"), file_post_name: 'uploadfile', file_size_limit : "10000", file_types : "*.*", file_types_description : "All Files", file_upload_limit : 5, flash_url : "functions/js/swfupload/swfupload.swf", button_image_url : 'functions/js/swfupload/wdp_buttons_upload_114x29.png', button_width : 114, button_height : 29, button_placeholder : $('#button')[0], debug: false }) .bind('fileQueued', function(event, file){ var listitem='<li id="'+file.id+'" >'+ 'File: <em>'+file.name+'</em> ('+Math.round(file.size/1024)+' KB) <span class="progressvalue" ></span>'+ '<div class="progressbar" ><div class="progress" ></div></div>'+ '<p class="status" >Pending</p>'+ '<span class="cancel" > </span>'+ '</li>'; $('#log').append(listitem); $('li#'+file.id+' .cancel').bind('click', function(){ var swfu = $.swfupload.getInstance('#swfupload-control'); swfu.cancelUpload(file.id); $('li#'+file.id).slideUp('fast'); }); // start the upload since it's queued $(this).swfupload('startUpload'); }) .bind('fileQueueError', function(event, file, errorCode, message){ alert('Size of the file '+file.name+' is greater than limit'); }) .bind('fileDialogComplete', function(event, numFilesSelected, numFilesQueued){ $('#queuestatus').text('Files Selected: '+numFilesSelected+' / Queued Files: '+numFilesQueued); }) .bind('uploadStart', function(event, file){ $('#log li#'+file.id).find('p.status').text('Uploading...'); $('#log li#'+file.id).find('span.progressvalue').text('0%'); $('#log li#'+file.id).find('span.cancel').show(); }) .bind('uploadProgress', function(event, file, bytesLoaded){ //Show Progress var percentage=Math.round((bytesLoaded/file.size)*100); $('#log li#'+file.id).find('div.progress').css('width', percentage+'%'); $('#log li#'+file.id).find('span.progressvalue').text(percentage+'%'); }) .bind('uploadSuccess', function(event, file, serverData){ var item=$('#log li#'+file.id); item.find('div.progress').css('width', '100%'); item.find('span.progressvalue').text('100%'); var pathtofile='<a href="uploads/'+file.name+'" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" >view »</a>'; item.addClass('success').find('p.status').html('Done!!! | '+pathtofile); }) .bind('uploadComplete', function(event, file){ // upload has completed, try the next one in the queue $(this).swfupload('startUpload'); loadXMLDoc(); }) You'll notice at the beginning, the functino loadXMLDoc. This function GETS the contents of a text file, which is the path to the directory the user is browsing. The next function is populateParentWindow. This is the function that dynamically updates the div that displays the files and folders of the current directory so they can see their file has been uploaded. Scroll down a little further and you'll see my problem. Code: $(function(){ $('#swfupload-control').swfupload({ upload_url: 'functions/upload-file.php?UID=' + Get_Cookie("User"), At the bottom of the above line, the : upload_url, I need it to contain the contents of the text file also, but in a POST value, like the UID, something like, directory=thedirectory. But, when I try Code: $(function(){ $('#swfupload-control').swfupload({ upload_url: 'functions/upload-file.php?UID=' + Get_Cookie("User") + "&directory=" + xmlhttp.responseText, It gives me an undefined, right off the bat before any uploading, or anything at all takes place. I'm guessing this is because this value is set on page load, and not before the actual upload actually happens. Does anyone have any ideas how I can set this value when the upload begins with the variable from the text file ? Keep in mind it has to be inside the function it's in now or it wont work. Note that the loadXMLDocument function isn't called until the upload is complete, the .bind at the bottom of the page. I've tried pulling it from the text file several ways, setting the document.title to the current directory and calling it in the function, it just always seems a step behind me or undefined. Any ideas ? Here's my code Code: (function() { var GOOGLE_PLUS_SCRIPT_URL = 'https://apis.google.com/js/client:plusone.js'; var CHANNELS_SERVICE_URL = 'https://www.googleapis.com/youtube/v3/channels'; var VIDEOS_UPLOAD_SERVICE_URL = 'https://www.googleapis.com/upload/youtube/v3/videos?uploadType=resumable&part=snippet'; var VIDEOS_SERVICE_URL = 'https://www.googleapis.com/youtube/v3/videos'; var INITIAL_STATUS_POLLING_INTERVAL_MS = 15 * 1000; var accessToken; $.getJSON( "the_key.txt", function( data ) { accessToken = data.access_token; function initiateUpload(e) { e.preventDefault(); var file = $('#file').get(0).files[0]; if (file) { $('#submit').attr('disabled', true); var gettags = $('#tags').val() var metadata = { snippet: { title: $('#title').val(), description: $('#description').val(), categoryId: 20, tags: ['"' + gettags.replace(/,/g , '", "') + '"'] }, }; $.ajax({ url: VIDEOS_UPLOAD_SERVICE_URL, method: 'POST', contentType: 'application/json', headers: { Authorization: 'Bearer ' + accessToken, 'x-upload-content-length': file.size, 'x-upload-content-type': file.type }, data: JSON.stringify(metadata) }).done(function(data, textStatus, jqXHR) { resumableUpload({ url: jqXHR.getResponseHeader('Location'), file: file, start: 0 }); }); } } function resumableUpload(options) { var ajax = $.ajax({ url: options.url, method: 'PUT', contentType: options.file.type, headers: { 'Content-Range': 'bytes ' + options.start + '-' + (options.file.size - 1) + '/' + options.file.size }, xhr: function() { // Thanks to http://stackoverflow.com/a/8758614/385997 var xhr = $.ajaxSettings.xhr(); if (xhr.upload) { xhr.upload.addEventListener( 'progress', function(e) { if(e.lengthComputable) { var bytesTransferred = e.loaded; var totalBytes = e.total; var percentage = Math.round(100 * bytesTransferred / totalBytes); $('#upload-progress').attr({ value: bytesTransferred, max: totalBytes }); $('#percent-transferred').text(percentage); $('#bytes-transferred').text(bytesTransferred); $('#total-bytes').text(totalBytes); $('.during-upload').show(); } }, false ); } return xhr; }, processData: false, data: options.file }); ajax.done(function(response) { var videoId = response.id; document.location="http://ez-gaming.net/index.php?app=videos&module=post§ion=submit&do=add_video&cat=&vidid=" + videoId; }); ajax.fail(function() { $('#submit').click(function() { alert('Not yet implemented!'); }); $('#submit').val('Resume Upload'); $('#submit').attr('disabled', false); }); } $(function() { $.getScript(GOOGLE_PLUS_SCRIPT_URL); $('#upload-form').submit(initiateUpload); }); }); })(); As you see I get JSON from the_key.txt and assign in to a variable. I call this variable later in the script but it doesn't seem to work. I did Code: alert(accessToken); after I put Code: $.getJSON( "the_key.txt", function( data ) { accessToken = data.access_token; and it worked and gave the correct string. But when I call accessToken in the initiateUpload function it does not work. AS shown he Code: function initiateUpload(e) { e.preventDefault(); var file = $('#file').get(0).files[0]; if (file) { $('#submit').attr('disabled', true); var gettags = $('#tags').val() var metadata = { snippet: { title: $('#title').val(), description: $('#description').val(), categoryId: 20, tags: ['"' + gettags.replace(/,/g , '", "') + '"'] }, }; $.ajax({ url: VIDEOS_UPLOAD_SERVICE_URL, method: 'POST', contentType: 'application/json', headers: { Authorization: 'Bearer ' + accessToken, 'x-upload-content-length': file.size, 'x-upload-content-type': file.type }, data: JSON.stringify(metadata) }).done(function(data, textStatus, jqXHR) { resumableUpload({ url: jqXHR.getResponseHeader('Location'), file: file, start: 0 }); }); } } Any ideas how to solve this? Hey I have a JS value but it won't put the value in the brackets when i try to get the element by ID instead it is looking for the id named the same as the variable name. Here is what i got to explain better: Code: function fill_div(v) { document.getElementById(v).innerHTML="<img src='untitle.png' style='width:100%;height:100%;'/>"; } var x = 0; var y = 3; var area = 1; window.onload = fill_div(area+':'+x+':'+y); It ends up looking for id v instead of id 1:0:3. Any idea how i correct this ? I want to pass the value to my object id = "Parameters" How can I do that? I had tried the code as posted below but it couldn't work. I'm using document.all.Parameters.data = tempParams[0]; to pass in the data to <OBJECT id="Parameters" style="Z-INDEX: 200; LEFT: 0px; TOP: 0px; POSITION: ABSOLUTE;" type=application/pdf height=800 width=1060 VIEWASTEXT scroll=yes></OBJECT> I also have tried document.getElementById("Parameters").data = tempParams[0]; but still doesn't work. The code attached as below. I am quite new to PHP, however I think I should name the variable first and call it on the next page right? But it doesn't seem to work. Any help is much appreciated! Thanks! Hello Guys, I need some help here.. I have a page that has a grid on it and I have a hidden div(below the grid). When the link is clicked inside the grid it opens the hidden div using the following code for the link in the grid. Here is my code with the PHP id that I need to pass PHP Code: foreach($ct->data as $key => $value){ $ct->data[$key][3]='<a href=#" onclick="part2('.$ct->data[$key][0].');" href="javascript:void();">'.$ct->data[$key][3].'</a>'; Here is the code in my head Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function part2(id) { var part2 = document.getElementById('part2'); if ( part2.className == 'hidden' ) { part2.className = 'visible'; document.getElementById('message').InnerHTML = 'This is the ID: '+id } else { part2.className = 'hidden'; } } </script> Added this to my hidden div to show the id Code: <span id=message></span> Any help would be appreciated.. Thanks, Dan ok i have auto complete that i want to be able to select a column of the database before searching on it i just want to pass the oneone variable over to the php page. so i have this javascript Code: <script type="text/javascript"> $().ready(function() { function log(event, data, formatted) { $("<li>").html( !data ? "No match!" : "Selected: " + formatted).appendTo("#result"); } $("#search").autocomplete("test.php", { width: 260, selectFirst: false }); $("#search").result(function(event, data, formatted) { if (data) $(this).parent().next().find("input").val(data[1]); }); $(":text, textarea").result(log).next().click(function() { $(this).prev().search(); // shows resluts }); }); </script> the html Code: <p class="field" > <select id="oneone" name="oneone" style="width:100px;margin:5px 0 5px 0;" value=""> <option value="s_last">Last Name</option> <option value="s_first">First Name</option> <label>Search</label> <input type="text" id="search" /> </p> <p> <label>Hidden input</label> <input type="text" id="inputit" /> Hi all, I need to pass a variable to an inner function and I got it to work but: (1) I don't know why it works (2) I don't know if it's right or optimal So, please look and comment: Code: for (var h = 1.0; h <= 3.0; h += 0.5) { ed.settings.formats['spacing' + String(h.toFixed(1))] = { 'block' : 'p', 'styles' : { 'marginBottom' : String((h - 1).toFixed(1)) + 'em' } } h = (function (h) { c.onRenderMenu.add(function (c, m) { m.add({ 'title': String(h.toFixed(1)), 'caption' : 'Set the line spacing to ' + String(h.toFixed(1)), 'onclick': function () { ed.formatter.apply('spacing' + this.title); return false; } }).setDisabled(false); }); return h; })(h); }; You can ignore a lot of the code as it doesn't factor into the question... and I know that re-ordering the code can eliminate my problem (but I can't re-order it because defining the formats MUST come before "renderMenu" or else it doesn't work - and I don't want to use two loops - one to define the formats and another to define the menu). The part that's freaking me out is this: Code: h = (function (h) { c.onRenderMenu.add(function (c, m) { m.add({ 'title': String(h.toFixed(1)), 'caption' : 'Set the line spacing to ' + String(h.toFixed(1)), 'onclick': function () { ed.formatter.apply('spacing' + this.title); return false; } }).setDisabled(false); }); return h; })(h); See the strange things I have to do to get h inside of c.onRenderMenu.add()? Is this right? Can I do it any "better" or more correctly? Thanks! -- Roger Hi All, I am a newbie to Javascript, I have a text box which when searched with 3 characters of vendor name will do ajax request and populate the results below the textbox, beside the box are two arrows pointing to a selectbox, when i clcik on the right arrow after the search the vendor name should to added to the select box.... similarly after i add required vendor names, I should be able to delete the name from the select box. I have completed the ajax search part of the textbox, and I am stuck with the passing value to the selectbox portion. Anyhelp will be appreciated. thanks in advance! |
