JavaScript - Multiple Hyperlinks To Submit Form Method

Hi all,

I'm designing something to addon to an existing product. I'm struggling with some javascript problems.

I want to submit a hidden field when you click on an image button, rather than it being an actual submit button. It's going to submit the value "1" to a PHP page, but I don't want it to actually have to GO to the PHP page, just submit it within the webpage.

Is it possible to submit multiple links all at the same time using Javascript? I check all over the web and can't find any examples anywhere.

I would like to click on a button and submit to google, yahoo, msn, etc all at the same time. Like someone physically click on http://google.com, http://yahoo.com, http://msn.com, so on.

I've literally tried everything. Read 26 tutorials, interchanged code, etc.

My validation functions all work. My AJAX functions work (tested manually using servlet URL's).

The second servlet validates the reCaptcha form that's generated on my webpage. After the form is validated, even if everything's correct, nothing happens upon clicking submit. I even have an alert pop up if with the captcha result, just for middle-layer debugging purposes.

I want to do all of my validation clientside; none serverside. However, going to be tough if I can't get my god damn form to submit. I've been puzzled by this for close to 36 hours straight. I can't see, and I'm going to get some rest and hope that there is some useful insight on my problem when I return.

Hate to ask this as I know it's an easy one but surprisingly Google turns up no clear/simple answers!

I'm modifying some old code and am not JS programmer (I'm a PHP programmer) and this is driving me nuts. The existing code makes sure that when the form is submitted that there isn't a missing value. There's also some hidden input values. The JS starts out

function checkform(orderform)

and the form tag includes onsubmit="return checkform(this);">

I can add an alert to the form to see varius input values, such as a hidden value for the input name 'description' I can use:

alert (orderform.description.value)

Eazy peazy.

However the form has two different input type=image buttons now and I need to do some branching in the JS depending on which image button they press. I recall IE had an issue where it only sends the x and y coordinates So I figure an easy to determine which image button was pressed is just check to see if the x or y value for each button is non-zero.

But I can't for the life of me figure out how to access the value. Example:

alert (orderform.button1.x.value) doesn't work.

Can someone refresh my memory or suggest an entirely different method for detecting which image button was used to submit a form?

Why is the callwhy is the slice method only a method of an Array instance? The reason why I ask is because if you want to use it for the arguments property of function object, or a string, or an object, or a number instance, you are forced to use Array.prototype.slice.call(). And by doing that, you can pass in any type of object instance (Array, Number, String, Object) into it. So why not just default it as a method of all object instances built into the language?

In other words, instead of doing this:

Our development team created a page using JS to submit a form. It works fine in IE6... but not in IE8 nor FF3. They can't seem to detect why, so I'm posting this in the hopes that someone will be able to let me know... so that I can tell them. Man!

The above code works fine in IE6 and lets the user submit the form. However, in FF3 nothing happens when the image is clicked and I get the following error using Firebug:

And in IE8 nothing happens when the image is clicked and it just tells me that there is an error.

I don't have access to the code, so I can't play around with manipulating the JS. Darn! However, can anyone see what might be causing the error in modern browsers? I'm a bit surprised it's IE8 and FF3 that are having issues... as IE6 is normally the least forgiving browser.

I have a php page with a form and some hyperlinks. User types in the form's textarea, if the user forgets to click on submit button of the form and click on any hyper link, it should alert the user "The form has not been submitted" please submit form. if user clicks OK, the form will be submitted. How can I implement this?? onmouseclick works??

I would like an image to be the button for a form to be submitted, but a sound is to play onclick for 3 seconds before the submit happens.

This is the "on page" validation. This, as you can see calls functions held in an included file onkeyup. This all works well, also the username check ajax call works great. However I have 2 questions that I need to sort before this will work correctly.

1. Using M_USERNAME form as an example. If I start typing in there it will begin validating, which is great, However, if i typed in "matt_thomas" based on the validations, Empty:Pass, ValidChars:Fail, Range:Pass, Check:Pass.

So I know that it isn't empty, it's the correct length and it's not already in the DB. But it fails because of the "_". This should mean that I receive the error i have setup for that failure. But I don't. Because I don't stop on a Fail, I receive the success message of the last function.

So my question is; How Can I stop running any more functions when one fails?

2. Looking at the above code, How can I make sure that a submit will only work when ALL fields validate correctly?

Is this possible? I'm sure it is, but Can't see the woods for the trees right now

Ok - I'm using an 'off the peg' shopping cart (Mal's e-commerce) that posts items to the cart using a standard form with a submit button.

What I want to do is send an item to the cart 'automatically', that is without the user actually filling a form or pressing a 'submit' button.

What I send to the cart will be dependant upon the value of a cookie that will have been set at some earlier point in the session.

My plan was to use document.write statements to build the 'form' and send it to the shopping cart... Here is the kind of form i will be creating:

what i was going to try here was "here is your" + COOKIEVALUE + "product"
which doesn't work - but that's what I'm trying to achieve.

2) 2nd problem is the submit 'button' needs to be an automatic 'invisible' action - i don't actually want to give them a button to click i just want to submit it from the coding.

I have a form with few input lines and textarea, and after a form i have three buttons: [Close] [Preview] [Submit]
And here is what i need:
Then visitor click [Preview]- the forms data should be passed to pop_up window for preview (something like submited to pop up window) for example "pop_up_preview.php" but the main page should be left at it is (for editing data)

But then user clicks [Submit], a forms data is passed to another regular page, for example "validate_data.php"
