JavaScript - Resolved !!! Third-party Javascript Menu Interferes With Flash Movie On Home Page
Ok ..... let's see if I can explain this so someone else can understand it!
I have a menu created with AllWebMenus and after battling with it for some time to get it to show up on the pages !!!! i am now facing another problem..... I have a flash movie on the home page that it does not start unless i click the home button. I've tested locally without the menu and it works, so has to be the menu that is conflicting with it. the site is www.teiafirme.com I could just drop the menu and create another one, thing is I like those darn buttons... Anyone here have any experience with this kind of problem? if needed i can post the menu and flash code... Similar TutorialsHi Everyone, I must admit that I'm a newbie in writing javascript. Can anyone help me with a script that will enable me to display a flash movie on one of my sites. I will appreciate all your responses. Thank you. I have this script which is set to generate random anagrams of my name in rotation which works fine, but I can't work out how to put multiple instances of it on one page. if someone could point me in the right direction i'd be very grateful. thanks the code is var quotations = new Array() quotations[0]= "germaine arnold" quotations[1]= "endearing moral" quotations[2]= "analog reminder" quotations[3]= "regained normal" quotations[4]= "renaming ordeal" quotations[5]= "nominal regrade" quotations[6]= "arraigned lemon" quotations[7]= "ringleader moan" quotations[8]= "mineral groaned" function display() { a=Math.floor(Math.random()*quotations.length) document.getElementById('quotation').innerHTML=quotations[a] setTimeout("display()",5000) } and i'm calling the function using: <div id="quotation"> <SCRIPT type="text/javascript">display()</SCRIPT> </div> I am looking to change a flash movie based on the time of day. Basicaly I need it to switch between a day/night version of the flash. I have this piece of code and want to know how to call the day.swf, night.swf in the flash object section where i have written 'WHAT DO I PUT HERE?' Any help with be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Code: <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- var DayOrNightMovie = "day.swf"; now = new Date(); hour = now.getHours(); if (hour > 6 && hour < 18) { DayOrNightMovie = "day.swf"; } else { DayOrNightMovie = "night.swf"; } var FlashObject = '<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,29,0" width="520" height="85" hspace="0" vspace="0" align="top">' FlashObject += '<param name="movie" value="WHAT DO I PUT HERE?"> <param name="quality" value="high"><param name="wmode" value="transparent">' FlashObject += '<embed src="WHAT DO I PUT HERE?" width="520" height="85" hspace="0" vspace="0" align="top" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"></embed></object>' document.write(FlashObject); // --> </script> Hello, I've tried various things I've found online but cannot seem to get the right code to open the links in a drop down menu in a new window. Code: <form id="quicklinks" name="quicklinks" action=""> <select name="quicklinkitem" onchange="openWin(quicklinkitem.value)"> <option value="/lib/board.html">Select a Date</option> <option value="/lib/boardreports/03-08-12.pdf">March 8, 2012</option> <option value="/lib/boardreports/02-09-12.pdf">February 9, 2012</option> </select> </form> I appreciate any help. Elbee I have the need to include an Ad Tag from a third party source that is generated via javascript which document.writes the code to display the ad. I have no control over this. I have it working on my end, BUT for the life of me I cannot get this to center in my div. It's like it busts out and aligns left after my div. I can't fathom what is going on. "IF" I include this ad tag directly in the page inside the div, it centers. But I need to dynamically pass it some data before it requests the ad, so I Have to dynamically create it, but this is the issue. It displays, just aligned left outside the target div. So, I am given a js tag with a src and that src generates a document.write that writes out an iframe. Here is my code below. I take the js src and replace some value in it since it is a string. Then I create a script element and then insert it into my div element on my page. var js_src = ("contents_of_the_src").gsub(/tie=/,'tie=' + random10_digit) var js_script = new Element('script',{'src': js_src}); Event.observe($('myDiv'), 'load', $('myDiv').insert({top : js_script})); so the view in question is something like this: <div id="myDiv"> <script language="text/javascript"> var js_src = ("contents_of_the_src").gsub(/tie=/,'tie=' + random10_digit) var js_script = new Element('script',{'src': js_src}); Event.observe($('myDiv'), 'load', $('myDiv').insert({top : js_script})); </script> </div> I've tried moving the js out of the div, afterwards, and try to insert then. I tried to create a new div, center that, and write the ad tag to it. All left alighned and outside of the div. My first google map, using latlng coordinates works fine. However my second google map isn't working. The map itself is grey. I have my code, but the problem is I am not calling the geocode function and I am not sure where I should do this. Code: <script type="text/javascript"> var geocoder; var submap; function createGMapFromAddress(position){ alert(position); geocoder = new google.maps.Geocoder(); var sublatlng = new google.maps.LatLng(position); var map_options = { zoom: 4, center: sublatlng, mapTypeId: google.maps.MapTypeId.ROADMAP } var submap = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById("placemap_canvas"), map_options); } function codeAddress(address){ alert("address"); var address = document.getElementById("address").value; geocoder.geocode({address: address}, function(results, status){ if (status == google.maps.GeocoderStatus.OK && results.length){ if (status != google.maps.GeocoderStatus.ZERO_RESULTS){ map.set_center(results[0].geometry.location); } } else { alert("Geocode was unsuccessful due to: " + status); } }); } </script> The script is called by clicking on a button: Code: <input type="button" value="Click" onclick="createGMapFromAddress('Oxford Street,London,UK')"; /> I have a script that works until I add the clearInterval command, and I am not sure what I have done wrong. The code is: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function loadChatTalkRefresh(File,ID,Msg){ var xmlhttp; if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); } else { try{ xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP"); } catch (e) { xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } } xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=function(){ if (xmlhttp.readyState==4 && xmlhttp.status==200){ document.getElementById(ID).innerHTML=xmlhttp.responseText; empress = setInterval(function(){loadChatTalkRefresh(File,ID,Msg)},3000); willow = clearInterval(empress,210000); } } var params=Msg; xmlhttp.open("POST",File, true); xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("Pragma", "Cache-Control:no-cache"); xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("Content-type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"); xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("Content-length", params.length); xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("Connection", "close"); xmlhttp.send(params); } </script> Hello i'm trying to play just the first few seconds on a quicktime movie then stop. if the user scrolls, I replay - Im doing this to reshow the image that seems to go away when scrolling. By design, once the user clicks 'Play' I want the movie to disregard the scroll (and other) functions. This seems to work in FF, but not in IE, where the movie will not even play initially. I'm getting a 'document.movie1 undefined error'. Any help is much appreciated. Here is the code.... These need to be actually displayed twice, so I'm basically calling the script twice. This works great aside from one thing- occasionally the same movie appears in both scripts, for example the first instance picks movie 3 of 4 and th second instance does the same. What I need is to somehow make sure that if the first instance of the script picks movie x then the second script will pick any movie EXCEPT movie x. This is the script as it stands: Code: <script language="JavaScript"> // Generate a Random Number var randomnumber = Math.round(Math.random()*3); // Select a swf and execute the corresponding function if (randomnumber == 1) {movie1();} else if (randomnumber == 2) {movie2();} else if (randomnumber == 3) {movie3();} else {movie4();} //Functions to write out the correct flash movie resource. function movie1(){ document.write("<object classid=\"clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000\" codebase=\"http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=4,0,2,0\" width=\"120\" height=\"285\"><param name=movie value=\"assets/images/ads/hotels/1.swf\"><param name=quality value=high><embed src=\"assets/images/ads/hotels/1.swf\" quality=high pluginspage=\"http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash\" type=\"application/x-shockwave-flash\" width=\"120\" height=\"285\"></embed></object>") } function movie2(){ document.write("<object classid=\"clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000\" codebase=\"http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=4,0,2,0\" width=\"120\" height=\"285\"><param name=movie value=\"assets/images/ads/hotels/2.swf\"><param name=quality value=high><embed src=\"assets/images/ads/hotels/2.swf\" quality=high pluginspage=\"http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash\" type=\"application/x-shockwave-flash\" width=\"120\" height=\"285\"></embed></object>") } function movie3(){ document.write("<object classid=\"clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000\" codebase=\"http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=4,0,2,0\" width=\"120\" height=\"285\"><param name=movie value=\"assets/images/ads/hotels/3.swf\"><param name=quality value=high><embed src=\"assets/images/ads/hotels/3.swf\" quality=high pluginspage=\"http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash\" type=\"application/x-shockwave-flash\" width=\"120\" height=\"285\"></embed></object>") } function movie4(){ document.write("<object classid=\"clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000\" codebase=\"http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=4,0,2,0\" width=\"120\" height=\"285\"><param name=movie value=\"assets/images/ads/hotels/4.swf\"><param name=quality value=high><embed src=\"assets/images/ads/hotels/4.swf\" quality=high pluginspage=\"http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash\" type=\"application/x-shockwave-flash\" width=\"120\" height=\"285\"></embed></object>") } </script> Hi Guys Is it possible to combine the following to bits of code. Check out what I am meaning on this page: http://www.it-world.com.au/ It's the flash with "Our Services" "Our Products" "Contact" in it. Can anyone suggest a very easy javascript that I could manipulate to give this same scrolling effect on the click of a link. It needs to be very easy to make changes to as I have no js skills whatsoever other than copying, pasting and making minor changes to obvious pieces of script. hope someone can help! Thanks, Ross Hi, I'm currently working on a Flash pop-up that can be integrated in several websites. I'm currently testing the code. I've got a flash file with a semi-transparant background that loads over the complete page, it also closes the div with the flash content once the end of the swf is reached. The thing is, I want to prevent the user from scrolling whilst the swf is active. That's why I disabled the overflow-Y. Now I've got a javascript code that is supposed to change the body's overflow to visible again, and I'm calling to this code in the same frame as where I disable the div with the flash in it. But for some reason it isn't working. This is my complete Javascript code: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- Original: Gregor (legreg@legreg.de) --> <!-- This script and many more are available free online at --> <!-- The JavaScript Source!! http://javascript.internet.com --> var ie4 = (document.all) ? true : false; var ns4 = (document.layers) ? true : false; var ns6 = (document.getElementById && !document.all) ? true : false; function hidelayer(lay) { if (ie4) {document.all[lay].style.visibility = "hidden";} if (ns4) {document.layers[lay].visibility = "hide";} if (ns6) {document.getElementById([lay]).style.display = "none";} } function writetolayer(lay, txt) { if (ie4) { document.all[lay].innerHTML = txt; } if (ns4) { document[lay].document.write(txt); document[lay].document.close(); } if (ns6) { over = document.getElementById([lay]); range = document.createRange(); range.setStartBefore(over); domfrag = range.createContextualFragment(txt); while (over.hasChildNodes()) { over.removeChild(over.lastChild); } over.appendChild(domfrag); } } <!-- This is the part I added which I thought would show the scrollbar again after the flashpopup is finished --> function showbar(){ document.getElementsByName('body')[0].style.overflowY = 'visible'; } </script> And in the final frame of my flash animation I first stop the swf, and then call to both functions: //stops the movie stop(); //this is the code that triggers the function to hide the div, and the function that should show the scrollbar getURL("javascript:showbar();"); getURL("javascript:hidelayer('newlayer');"); I've also got an online webtest he http://www.haragara.com/banner_test/ And I've included all the files in a zip Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I'm not too familiar with javascript and usually do most of my animation/linking with flash. However my client does not want flash because it can't be displayed on the iPhone. If you go he http://www.hosthabitat.com/think/bb2/index.html you will see a menu on the left that starts to scroll through the buttons while showing different images on the right. But if you hover over any button it stops on that image. The buttons are then linked to individual pages. I attempted to try and replicate this technique he http://www.hosthabitat.com/think/bb2/index_test.html However I am not sure how to write or modify my script so that it scrolls through the photos like my flash version does. Any help!!! I'm stuck! is there javascript i can use to keep certain tabs open on a flash drop down menu?
Is it possible to use GetVariable() on a variable outside the Main scene timeline? Im trying to get a variable that is set on "sprite 479" that is gonna run on frame #2.. the variable name is "myVariable" Code: function getElement() { var FlashArr = document.getElementsByName('myFlash'); return FlashArr[FlashArr.length-1]; } alert(getElement().GetVariable("myVariable")); I can only get variables located on the MainMovie sprite.
