JavaScript - Multiple Countdown Using Arrays
Similar TutorialsHello all, It's my first post. I have 0 javascript knowledge and desperately need your help. I need 5 countdown timers on my html site. I would like them to countdown from different minutes (i.e. 2:30, 5:15, 1:20, etc). Here is the script I found online: Quote: <!--countdown timer --> <div style="position:absolute; overflow:hidden; left:107px; top:390px; width:40px; height:20px; z-index:18"> <script language="JavaScript"> TargetDate = new Date().valueOf() + 2*60000 + 30*1000; BackColor = "#FFFFFF"; ForeColor = "#FF6633"; CountActive = true; CountStepper = -1; LeadingZero = true; DisplayFormat = "%%M%%:%%S%%"; FinishMessage = "SOLD!"; </script> <script language="JavaScript" src="http://scripts.hashemian.com/js/countdown.js"></script> </div> I pasted them in the div tags and it works perfectly. However, when I copy and paste them 4 times for a total of 5 timers to display, only 1 shows. Why is this happening and how can I fix it? Here is how I it looks on my index file after I pasted it 4 times: Quote: <div id="count1" style="position:absolute; overflow:hidden; left:107px; top:390px; width:45px; height:20px; z-index:29"> <script language="JavaScript"> TargetDate = new Date().valueOf() + 2*60000 + 30*1000; BackColor = "#FFFFFF"; ForeColor = "#FF6633"; CountActive = true; CountStepper = -1; LeadingZero = true; DisplayFormat = "%%M%%:%%S%%"; FinishMessage = "SOLD!"; </script> <script language="JavaScript" src="http://scripts.hashemian.com/js/countdown.js"></script> </div> <div id="count2" style="position:absolute; overflow:hidden; left:257px; top:390px; width:45px; height:20px; z-index:30"> <script language="JavaScript"> TargetDate = new Date().valueOf() + 2*60000 + 30*1000; BackColor = "#FFFFFF"; ForeColor = "#FF6633"; CountActive = true; CountStepper = -1; LeadingZero = true; DisplayFormat = "%%M%%:%%S%%"; FinishMessage = "SOLD!"; </script> <script language="JavaScript" src="http://scripts.hashemian.com/js/countdown.js"></script> </div> <div id="count3" style="position:absolute; overflow:hidden; left:257px; top:390px; width:45px; height:20px; z-index:31"> <script language="JavaScript"> TargetDate = new Date().valueOf() + 2*60000 + 30*1000; BackColor = "#FFFFFF"; ForeColor = "#FF6633"; CountActive = true; CountStepper = -1; LeadingZero = true; DisplayFormat = "%%M%%:%%S%%"; FinishMessage = "SOLD!"; </script> <script language="JavaScript" src="http://scripts.hashemian.com/js/countdown.js"></script> </div> <div id="count4" style="position:absolute; overflow:hidden; left:257px; top:390px; width:45px; height:20px; z-index:32"> <script language="JavaScript"> TargetDate = new Date().valueOf() + 2*60000 + 30*1000; BackColor = "#FFFFFF"; ForeColor = "#FF6633"; CountActive = true; CountStepper = -1; LeadingZero = true; DisplayFormat = "%%M%%:%%S%%"; FinishMessage = "SOLD!"; </script> <script language="JavaScript" src="http://scripts.hashemian.com/js/countdown.js"></script> </div> Please help!! Sincerely, George I have a quick question with multiple array and random numbers. If i generate my random numbers in one array, how would i take a selection of those numbers and put them in another array? Ex: array 1: 25, 34, 38, 40, 22, 49 want to move numbers between 30 and 50 to another array. array 2: 34, 38, 40, 49 is it as simple as for loops and if statements setting the conditions? do i use a sorting method? (selection? bubble?) any help would be appreciated. You've probably seen this many times with two dynamic linking select boxes that deals in form or another deal with countries and then cities for the second one or something similar well I have another question about that. I've looked at a few others and well their coding is so different then mine that I don't want to use code for my own project that I don't understand in case I need to reuse it for some other reason down the road. The user selects a country and with the users selection it passes the countryid as a variable through jquery's ajax fuction as a post parameter to a php process page in which it goes to a table and matches the country id with the db field called country_id in the arenas table. With all the records that matches that countryid it selects the arena name and city that the arena is in and displays it as an option tag now I'm trying to figure out with muliple entries how can I pass the results back to the form page and insert it into the arenas dropdown box. Following is my coding separated out for you. I only included the necessary parts. All help would be greatly appreciated. form page Code: $('#countryid').change(function() { var countryid = $("select#countryid").val(); var dataString = 'countryid='+ countryid; $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "processes/booking.php", data: dataString, success: function() { } }); }); <div class="field required"> <label for="countryid">Country</label> <select class="dropdown" name="countryid" id="countryid" title="Country"> <option value="0">- Select -</option> <?php $query = 'SELECT id, countryname FROM countries'; $result = mysqli_query ( $dbc, $query ); // Run The Query while ( $row = mysqli_fetch_array ( $result, MYSQL_ASSOC ) ) { print "<option value=\"".$row['id']."\">".$row['countryname']."</option>\r"; } ?> </select> <span class="required-icon tooltip" title="Required field - This field is required, it cannot be blank, and must contain something that is different from emptyness in order to be filled in. ">Required</span> </div> <div class="field required"> <label for="arena">Arenas</label> <select class="dropdown" name="arenas" id="arenas" title="Arenas"> </select> <span class="required-icon tooltip" title="Required field - This field is required, it cannot be blank, and must contain something that is different from emptyness in order to be filled in. ">Required</span> </div> php process page PHP Code: $countryid = (int)$_GET['countryid']; $query = "SELECT * FROM `arenas` WHERE `country_id` = '$countryid'"; $result = mysqli_query ($dbc, $query); while ($row = mysqli_fetch_array($dbc, $result)) { echo '<option value="'.$row['arena'].'">'.$row['arena'].' - '.$row['city'].'</option>\n'; } I need to loop the alphabet and numbers 0-9 to initialize a few thousand arrays. This is for my site and is truly needed. http://www.thefreemenu.com I currently have every array written out and it takes up to much space in my .js file. The majority of my variables are empty but necessary and need to be there (including empty) for my site to work properly. Question is the last part Here's where I'm at. Code: var NewVarLetterOrNum = "a"; eval("_oneofseveralnames_" + NewVarLetterOrNum + "='this part works';"); alert(_oneofseveralnames_a); This creates the variable _oneofseveralnames_a='this part works' Code: var newArrayLetterOrNum = "a"; eval("_oneofseveralnames_" + newArrayLetterOrNum + "= new Array();"); alert(_oneofseveralnames_a) This creates the Array _oneofseveralnames_a=new Array(); and all the values in the array are null, but, now a variable like _nl_a[1]='something' can be used elsewhere because the array exists. This is all that is necessary for now because I can probably set all the variables to be blank with something like Code: i=1 while(i<=20){ _oneofseveralnames_a[i]="1-20"; i++ } alert(_oneofseveralnames_[20]); So now you have what I came to understand in the first few hours. Now to the hard part : ( I can't make multiple array's dynamically. I dont' know if its because I don't understand loops or arrays or what and its very fustrating. As for any answer you might be so kind as to provide, if you could dumb it down that would be greatly appreciated. Code: var newArray =new Array('a','b','c','d','e','f','g','h','i','j','k','l','m','n','o','p','q','r','s','t','u','v','w','x','y','z') i=1 while(i<=26){ eval("_nl_" + newArray[i] + "= new Array();"); i++ } alert(newArray[1]) // Is b, but alert(_nl_b) //I can't get _nl_b to exist, I tried everything including taking away the quotes around the letters in every test */ var _nl_a =new Array() var _img_a =new Array() var _h_a =new Array() var _r_a =new Array() var _m_a =new Array() var _yt_a =new Array() var _i_a =new Array() The above arrays are all the array _name_ parts I need but for example, a has 10 parts, a,p2_a,p3_a,.. p10_a. I need 10 pages for each letter of the alphabet and numbers 0-9 and a special all1, p2_all1 ... p10_all1. Overall 2200 arrays that need to be declared. Currently they are all written out. /* hello i need code for my page, i need to show time elapsing, i mean 15sec countig down to 0 could you help me? i need help in following js code. what i want it to add micro seconds to this code. Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"> <title>Untitled Document</title> </head> <body> <div id = "time"></div> <script type = "text/javascript"> function display(secs) { if (secs <= 0) { alert("Your time is up!"); return; } secs--; document.getElementById("time").innerHTML = "You have " + Math.floor(secs/60) + ":" + (secs % 60 < 10 ? "0" : "" ) + (secs % 60) + " left"; setTimeout("display("+secs+")",1000); } display(301); // 300 seconds = 5 minutes </script> </body> </html> how can i add micro secs? I figured if there was one it would be a Javascript but does anyone know of a countdown clock that almost looks like a counter/turnstile number row? Like this sorta: I've been looking for one where I have the numbers look just like that and 'push' upward as the times (days, minutes, seconds) go on. Hopefully someone knows of a script >< Thanks alot!!! I found this countdown timer online that starts when the page loads at 30 seconds and counts down to zero. What I need for it to do however is once it hits 0 it needs to automatically reset itself back to 30 seconds. It's being used in conjunction with a online (not a chat room) chatterbot where people often abuse the bot with foul language. The idea being to stop them from entering text to the bot for 30 seconds. I'm using these lines in the chatterbot where xxx would be the foul language. The stopTalk part prevents entering text for 30 seconds. The display() triggers the countdown. However, once it hits 0 it's dead in the water. If someone types another bad word the timer isn't going to work. Note: The timer is just a visual diplay so the user can see how long he must wait. The StopTalk below is working fine to stop the user from entering text. That part isn't the problem. Code: if (input.search("xxx")!= -1) {document.result.result.value = "Stop the foul language. You can no longer enter text for 30 seconds"; display() stopTalk = setTimeout('icon.src=icon1.src;stopTalk=false;',30000) return true;} 1) Because this is an online chatterbot that temporarily stores information about the user I can't restart the timer by refreshing the page or I would lose that information. 2) I don't want to use a button to reset the timer. If at all possible I want the timer to reset automatically. Any help would be appreciated. Code: <form name="counter"><input type="text" size="8" name="d2"></form> <script> <!-- // var milisec=0 var seconds=30 document.counter.d2.value='30' function display(){ if (milisec<=0){ milisec=9 seconds-=1 } if (seconds<=-1){ milisec=0 seconds+=1 } else milisec-=1 document.counter.d2.value=seconds+"."+milisec setTimeout("display()",100) } display() --> </script> I'm making an additional page for a phpbb forum for a game. On the page there's 2 textareas to paste in a list of coordinates from a map and then the time it takes to get from each of the coordinates in the left box to each of the coordinates in the right box is calculates and shown in a table. Also is a date/time input, where the user will pick the desired time of arrival. I have this all calculating the times etc. but I would like in one of the columns for it to have a real-time counter that will count down the time before they need to start on the trip in order to arrive at the desired time. I am having a nightmare of a time with this. Here's the script, can someone tell me what I am doing wrong? Code: <!-- INCLUDE overall_header.html --> <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"> function timeLeft(now, next) { var count = next - now; count = count/1000; //change to hours:mins:secs var secs = count % 60; if (secs < 10) secs = '0'+secs; var countdown1 = (count - secs) / 60; var mins = countdown1 % 60; if (mins < 10) mins = '0'+mins; countdown1 = (countdown1 - mins) / 60; var hours = countdown1 % 24; if(hours == 1){htext = " hr, "}else if(hours == 0){hours = "", htext = ""}else{htext = " hrs, "}; if(mins < 2){mtext = " min, "}else{mtext = " mins, "}; if(secs < 2){stext = " sec"}else{stext = " secs"}; document.getElementById('timeLeft').innerHTML = hours+htext+mins+mtext+secs+stext; t=setTimeout('timeLeft()',500); } </script> </head> <body> <table class="borderlist" style="width: 100%; align: center; text-align: center"> <tbody> <tr><td>{MSG}</td></tr> <tr> <td>NOW</td> <td>ID</td> <td>FIELDS</td> <td>TRAVEL_TIME</td> <td>SEND_SECS</td> <td>SEND_TIME</td> <td>TIME_LEFT</td> <td>SEND_IN</td> </tr> <!-- BEGIN times --> <tr> <td>{times.NOW}</td> <td>{times.ID}</td> <td>{times.FIELDS}</td> <td>{times.TRAVEL_TIME}</td> <td>{times.SEND_SECS}</td> <td>{times.SEND_TIME}</td> <td><span id="timeLeft" onload="timeLeft({times.NOW}, {times.SEND_SECS})"></td> <td>{times.SEND_IN}</td> </tr> <!-- END times --> </tbody> </table> </div> <!-- INCLUDE overall_footer.html --> index.php Code: <a href="#" onClick="getTimer();return false;">Show Timer</a> <br /> <div id="test"></div> getTimer.js Code: function getTimer() { new Ajax.Request('filegoeshere', { onSuccess: function(req) {eval(req.responseText);}, onFailu function(){ alert('Something went wrong...') } }); } timer.php Code: <?php echo "$('test').innerHTML = '<form><input type=\"text\" name=\"timer\" id=\"timer\" size=\"8\" style=\"text-align: center;\" /></form>';"; ?> var seconds= 30 $('timer').value='30' function display() { seconds--; if (seconds<=-1){ seconds=30 } else $('timer').value=seconds; setTimeout("display()",1000) } display() Everything seems to work, but the once the timer is in the input box, after the request, it get's stuck on 29, and will not continue counting down, and I can't seem to get it to work. I am using ProtoType with this, and I did just take that little part out of the index.php file, since that is all that is needed from that file. Hi All, I am trying to set up a countdown function that will be called on the click of a button. Function is below Code: function countDown(sec, min) { sec--; if (sec == -01) { sec = 59; min = min - 1; } else { min = min; } if (sec<=9) { sec = "0" + sec; } time = (min<=9 ? "0" + min : min) + " min and " + sec + " sec "; if (document.getElementById) { theTime.innerHTML = time; } SD=window.setTimeout("countDown();", 1000); if (min == '00' && sec == '00') { sec = "00"; window.clearTimeout(SD); } } function addLoadEvent(func) { var oldonload = window.onload; if (typeof window.onload != 'function') { window.onload = func; } else { window.onload = function() { if (oldonload) { oldonload(); } func(); } } } addLoadEvent(function() { }); However I get an error after one second. Script can be found here - http://www.jivalot.co.uk/m.php Can anyone help? Kind regards, Slate Hey all, I'm trying to sort a countdown clock for my website: http://www.cyber-technix.com/corps/index.php/ My vision of it was a transparent background, Blue text and a simple Day : Hour : Minute : Second Layout. I found a free .js countdown clock at http://www.hashemian.com/tools/javascript-countdown.htm Anyone got any better suggestions? I havn't used .js much so I may need some help implementing it if someone would be kind enough to help me out, thanks. I'm not sure what im doing wrong here this technique im using works for a different countdown file. I am making a website and the page is oriented around a countdown system. If the timer ever reaches 0, the whole thing will stop. Below are the specifics: I need a countdown timer that runs from 30 seconds to 0 seconds. If the timer is at 0 seconds, the script runs php code #1 (which makes the timer stop and if any user refreshes the page, it will still stay at zero). There is also two buttons. If user clicks on button #1, the timer will get reset to 30 seconds remaining. Then the script will run the php code #2 (which allows the timer to begin counting down again from 30 seconds). If user clicks on button #2, the timer will get reset to 5 seconds remaining and same thing follows as the first button. And obviously the timer should show the same number (seconds remaining) for all the users on the website! Thank You Hi please help me with this website. This website is used to list 6 events and then it should accurately countdown to when that event happens. As it is right now it accurately counts days, but hours, minutes, and seconds are counted down incorrectly. I would appreciate any help. Hi all, This is my first post on a forum regarding help so I'm sorry in advance. I currently have a text based MMORPG. I am trying to create a countdown timer for my functions(Crime, Car Steal and so on) Code: window.setTimeout("Tick()", 1000); function Tick() { window.setTimeout("Tick()", 1000); } var Timer; var TotalSeconds; function CreateTimer(TimerID, Time) { Timer = document.getElementById(TimerID); TotalSeconds = Time; UpdateTimer() window.setTimeout("Tick()", 1000); } function Tick() { TotalSeconds -= 1; UpdateTimer() window.setTimeout("Tick()", 1000); } function UpdateTimer() { Timer.innerHTML = TotalSeconds; } function Tick() { if (TotalSeconds <= 0) { alert("Available") return; } TotalSeconds -= 1; UpdateTimer() window.setTimeout("Tick()", 1000); } function UpdateTimer() { var Seconds = TotalSeconds; var Days = Math.floor(Seconds / 86400); Seconds -= Days * 86400; var Hours = Math.floor(Seconds / 3600); Seconds -= Hours * (3600); var Minutes = Math.floor(Seconds / 60); Seconds -= Minutes * (60); var TimeStr = ((Days > 0) ? Days + " days " : "") + LeadingZero(Hours) + ":" + LeadingZero(Minutes) + ":" + LeadingZero(Seconds) Timer.innerHTML = TimeStr + "Organised Robbery!"; } function LeadingZero(Time) { return (Time < 10) ? "0" + Time : + Time; } Any help with regards to this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Hi there, I was looking for a countdown script that counts down starting at a number (50) which starts again once it reaches (0). The count down isnt in seconds, it should be in 10 second increments. This meaning that it starts at 50, and they goes to 49 after 10 seconds.. Can anyone help? http://icant.co.uk/sandbox/countdown.html Hi, I am trying to understand the countdown above but I am having some problems. I am trying to remove some of the fields under preferences, I just want to show "Time in Seconds" and "warning start" and not any of the other fields. When I try to remove something from the script the entire thing just stop working. So my question is simple, how do I hide/remove fields under preferences without breaking the countdown? In Brno, 07.06.2011 Hello everybody, i really need your help with one issue. I have got one page running under Wordpress and i would like to add some countdown to widget to show when i will be again online. for example: I am online every working day (monday - friday) from 08:00 AM to 04:30 PM. So it would be nice to show to my subscribers when i would be online again. So lets think about that is Thuesday 07:00 PM, so on my page would be visible this: "I will be back in 13 hours, 00 minutes, 00 seconds" Or in Saturday at 07:00 PM there will be written: "I will be back in 37 hours, 00 minutes, 00 seconds" I would really apreciate every help, thank you in advance!
