PHP - Welcome Page Welcomes Everyone At Same Time

Is there a way to run a check on the server to see how long it takes for the page to get built, then print it to the screen?   I tried searching for it online for a few minutes, but it wasn't able to be found.  All I'm finding  on there is how to optimize the pages, but I want a simple time check performed on the page loading

-First I want to say that I love this site and always check google before I submit questions but im lost.

I'm into security and trying to learn a little Apache, Mysql, and PHP to understand the development cycle better. As practice im creating a notecard test review site. Create notecard Decks, add/delete questions etc. shuffle, then test yourself.

I though I was doing good until I got to the page that shows the questions (test.php).


Right now I pass the "deck_id" field in a GET to a "test.php?id=" page that runs a script that pulls out all the questions for that deck from my "questions" table and loops to show each question for that "deck".

My loop  works, (gets array from database and  shows questions one by one), but it writes all the questions to the page at the same time. DUH. I want it to show one question with a "NEXT" button to show next question. This button clears the first question and writes the next one until they are all done. No grading or anything needed.


Is there a way to do this gracefully?

I dont know much javascript but looked up innerHTML and see i can update text that way but the PHP loop I have goes so fast it just end up showing the last question with no way to pause it between questions. Can anyone think of a way to do this? My problem is passing the data from page to page to page (I lose the array data)


If this is impossible my other thoughts a

1) store current list of Q/A's in cookie    (OR)
2) pass Q/A to another page with POSTS   (OR)
3)store Q/A's to temporary sql table and use GETS in loop to show each one by one. "testing.php?question=1"
4) can i set a global variable that can pass the data to separate pages?
5)user iFrame so it looks like one page (dont know how)


Im leaning to number 3 but want to hear your suggestions. (sorry very new)

Iam in a confused situation. I made a php script & in that script i want to check how much time (in seconds) the page is taking to fetch the content from the server.
If the time is greater than to i defined time then i want to show a error message to the users.

I recently made a Booster Page value page he http://www.onlinegamekey.com/booster-packs.php

And it seems the page loads really slow, but I kind of understand that since its doing a lot of math and dealing with a lot of data.

I am wondering if there is a way to possibly optimize the page and querys in such a way that it doesn't take so long to load.

I'm basically using 4 queries to get the value of each pack and 1 function to average the query data. And I add them up as I go.

But I'm not real sure where the strain is coming from. The page seems to load really slow, and I'm not sure if I should just try and write all these queries as a separate function then have it write the data to a separate table, or if there is another way to optimize this code.

I'm still have a lot to learn so I would appreciate any thoughts or ideas you folks can offer me.

I'm not looking for code, mostly just some direction, but I'm sure I'll be back as I try to shape the code.  Also, I know very little about coding jQuery, Ajax, etc.  Here is what I'm looking for:

Basketball coach enters a Page that only he (or admin) can see.  (I have that part figured out.)
Once there, he has a form to fill out with a player's name and other information.

I'd rather there not be 12 rows of empty cells.  (Coaches will view that as work)
I'd rather not have the Page reload on each "Add", but that would be the lesser of two evils.

Is there a way to keep a persistent connection so when a coach hits Add, the player gets added to the database, a new empty form shows up, and the player's information shows up below on a roster?

PHP date and time function is not showing correct time on my local system

I have the following php code

date_default_timezone_set("Africa/Lagos");

I am trying to simulate an ad expiration and carry out an action if the ad is expired. And I cannot get the if/else to work properly... I've tried many variations and I cannot see what I am doing wrong here. Any tips please 3 hours and counting of no solution!

Basically I have recently been playing around with parsing a csv file. What I am looking to do at this point is simply take the date/timestamp (part of the csv file), which is in the following format:DD/MM HH:MM:SS.100th/s
For the sake of argument, lets say I have this in an array string called $csv[0] and the file has several lines that span the course of a couple hours. I wouldn't mind having to use explode() to breakup/remove the date or 100th/s IF that would make things a lot simpler.

So where would I start in trying to achieve this?. The result I am looking for will simply return "X Seconds". Storing this in a string variable would be a bonus, as I plan to use this to divide a separate piece of information.

Any examples or ideas would be great. Thank you.

Hello,

I tried to implement some PHP code to enable a web page to show "Dinner" specials versus "Lunch" specials based on the time.

The business is located in the Eastern Time Zone, so I only need to routine to work based on Eastern Time (New York).

What I am noticing is that the server is processing the lines of code so fast that the command to establish the correct time for the remaining code is not always being acknowledged.

This line of code appears to be processing too fast for the remaining lines of code:
date_default_timezone_set ( "America/New_York" );

Is there some additional code I can put in place to make sure the correct time is always ascertained?

I need the $hourmin variable to always return a combination of hour + minute based on 24-hour time and Eastern Time zone.

I am having a problem with PHP displaying the correct date and time. It updates as it should, but is fast by 4min and is always displaying a date in 2004. I ran a basic php script to make sure the application im using itself is not wrong. go to lunenburgledger.com/time.php

Anybody had any ideas on where to check? The system time on the Windows Server 2003 is correct. The only thing I can think of is that it was converted to a virtual machine on vmware esxi, but the system time stayed right. Any ideas?

OK So I've got a datepicker that sends a date in d/m/y format. My DB stores the data in Unix Timestamp Which I can convert the date to with strtotime however this does the exact date & time.

All I want is the actual day. I've spent hours trying to convert this with just the day with mixed results...
