Im developing a registration script and using godaddy as my host. Im getting "Access denied for user 'headstyle1'@'%' to database 'users'" when running the registration script. Is there some kind of permission I have to set? Hi, I am getting frustrated beyond belief at the moment with trying to get a very simple script to run, I am using PHP 5.3.3 and MySQL 5.1 on a Win2k8 server with IIS7.5. Basically my script is connecting to a local database, running a single select query, returning those rows and building up a string from them. The problem is that I am receiving complete BS responses from PHP that the access is denied for the user being specified. This is complete rubbish since the user can connect via mysql, sqlyog, ASP.NET MVC without issue but for some bizarre reason it is not working via PHP. The code for the script is here : Code: [Select] <?php $mysql = mysql_connect('127.0.0.1:3306', 'myuser', 'mypass', 'mydatabase'); if (!$mysql) { die(mysql_error()); $content = "<nobr></nobr>"; } else { $result = mysql_query('SELECT * FROM tblEventGroup'); $content = "<nobr>"; if ($result) { while($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($result)) { $content .= "<span>"; $content .= $row['GroupName']; $content .= "</span>"; $content .= "<a href=\"../Event/EventSearch?groupid="; $content .= $row['GroupId']; $content .= "\" target=\"_blank\">Book here</a> "; } } mysql_close($mysql); $content .= "</nobr>"; } ?> I cannot for the life of me understand what the problem is, the return error is Access denied for user 'myuser'@'localhost' (using password: YES) Quote Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Access denied for user 'nyhungry_builder'@'localhost' (using password: YES) in /home3/nyhungry/public_html/musicmakerstore/storescript/connect_to_mysql.php on line 19 could not connect to mysql I am getting this error from the code below how come? Code: [Select] <! <?php // Place db host name. Sometimes "localhost" but // sometimes looks like this: >> ???mysql??.someserver.net $db_host = "localhost"; // Place the username for the MySQL database here $db_username = "nyhungry_builder"; // Place the password for the MySQL database here $db_pass = "blablabla"; // Place the name for the MySQL database here $db_name = "nyhungry_musicbeatmaker"; // Run the actual connection here mysql_connect("$db_host","$db_username","$db_pass") or die ("could not connect to mysql"); mysql_select_db("$db_name") or die ("no database"); ?> I am working on a cpanel kind of host and you know how the databases are setup like blablab_databasename etc.. What is going on here i have check the database name, the table, password and the host thousands of times and nothing.. Help I have created a function to connect to a required database with a username and password. I have called this db_openConnection() Now for each function that requires a select from a database is it ok just to call the db_OpenConnection() first within the function or should i be keeping open a db connection (using persist, i think) rather than keep creating a connection. I know that the connection ends when you have finished a query any how. Not sure if this is the correct forum or if it should be mysql forum Hi, I have just started using PHP again after a long break and am very rusty. I am having a few problems with some basic things: I have defined a function to connect to my MySQL database and it doesn't work. My $hostname, $username, $password variables are stored in a separate php file which I am including first and the standard mysql_connect function works ok, but I wanted to put it inside another user defined function called "condb" to make things quicker later. my function looks like this: function condb(){ mysql_connect($hostname, $username, $password) OR DIE ('Unable to connect to database! Please try again later.'); } and I am trying to run it like this: condb(); Unfortunately it is not working. Probably a basic error but any help appreciated. Thanks I want to make it so public users cant access the index of/ page, how do I do that? Thanks I have just set up MAMP on my new MacBook Pro and I am having trouble getting my MySQL connection working. When I use the following code: Code: [Select] $mysqli = new mysqli('localhost', 'application', 'application', 'dorset'); if ($mysqli->connect_errno) { echo "Failed to connect to MySQL: (".$mysqli-errno.") ".$mysqli->connect_error; } I get this error: Failed to connect to MySQL: () Access denied for user 'application'@'localhost' (using password: YES) However if I use the old mysql_connect() function, it doesnt throw back any errors?! Any ideas? Hi, I found a tutorial in building a poll, however it detects IP, so people can't vote multiple times, so I dissected the code into sections while removing the IP blocking, while still inserting the IP address into the database, the problem is that I get: Access denied for user 'ODBC'@'localhost' for the second page, I don't know where I went wrong, could anyone help me? I also attached the code and .sql file so that people can hack it and check where it got wrong. Thanks here is the original poll code <link rel="stylesheet" href="css/style.css" type="text/css" media="screen" /> <?php //database settings $hostname = 'localhost'; $username = 'root'; $password = ''; $dbname = 'poll1'; $connect = mysql_connect($hostname, $username, $password); mysql_select_db($dbname); //Validation to check if the user has voted or not. Hi everyone! I'm getting the error "Access denied for user ''@'localhost' to database 'crystalair'" (crystalair is the name of my database) whenever I submit my form which inserts a new row to the database table "order". The same happens when I try to retrieve data from the table using select query. However, I can successfully perform operations (select, insert) in my other pages which involves another database table "user". If this is a connection error, how can I successfully perform operations with another table? Also, my connection query does not return an error. I have also checked to make sure my user has been granted "All Privileges" in the phpmyadmin. I've run out of ideas. Can you please help? Thanks a lot. I am using WAMP server for my PHP Server and am trying to connect to an Access Database with the extension of accdb, but I keep getting the error "could not find driver". Here is the code I'm trying to run:
$dbName = $_SERVER["DOCUMENT_ROOT"]."/Ridley/RLCompRepair.accdb";
if (!file_exists($dbName)) {
die("Could not find database file.");
}
try {
$db = new PDO("odbc:Driver={MS Access Database (*.mdb, *.accdb)};Dbq=$dbName");
} catch (PDOException $e) {
echo "Error: ".$e->getMessage();
}
I have enabled the php_pdo_odbc extension, so I'm pretty sure this is not the problem. Could someone please let me know what is wrong?
Chris
Edited by chrscote, 15 November 2014 - 02:45 PM. config.php file does the problem lie here it wont seem to connect to the database and gives me the code above <?php define( "DB_DSN", "mysql: host=vega.soi.city.ac.uk;dbname=abhr428"); define( "DB_USERNAME", "abhr428" ); define( "DB_PASSWORD", " i have taken password out" ); define( "PAGE_SIZE", 5 ); define( "TBL_USERS", "users" ); define( "TBL_ACCESS_LOG", "accesslog" ); ?> Hi all I have been trying to do a query but I get Call to undefined function mysql_connect() What other way can I perform a query? Or do I need to get something enabled? Thank in advance Dave So basically my project is one where the user can log onto my website, and the page then checks if the ID and password are in my table in my microsoft access file. If the username and password are the same, the user continues, if it isnt, then it stays on the same page and says something like "username and/or password are incorrect" or something along the lines of that. the problem is right now im not sure how to make it say "ERROR username and/or password is incorrect" if the username and password dont match. Can someone help me with this? and also make sure if the username and password are correct that it goes to the next page, entitled searchpage.php here is the code Code: [Select] <html> <head> <style type="text/css"> </style> </head> <body style="text-align:center"> <div id='title'> </div> <?php print_r ($_POST) ; if if (isset($_POST['Login'])) { if(isset($_POST['username'])){ $username= $_POST['username'] ; } if(isset($_POST['password'])){ $TABLE= $_POST['password'] ; } $username = null ; $password = null ; $connection = odbc_connect('Olympics', '', ''); if (!$connection) {exit("Conection Failed: " . $connection);} $username = stripslashes($username); $password = stripslashes($password); $sql = "select * from users where users = '$username' and passwords = '$password'"; $rs=odbc_exec($connection,$sql); $count=odbc_num_rows($rs); if ($count == 1) { $_SESSION['loggedIn'] = "true"; header("Location: searchpage.php"); } else { $_SESSION['loggedIn'] = "false"; header("Location: index.php"); echo "Login failed" ; } } echo "<form action='index.php' method='post'> \n" ; echo" Please enter your username and password if you wish. <br/> \n" ; echo "Username: <input type='text' name='username' > \n " ; echo "Password: <input type='password' name='password' > \n" ; echo "<input type='submit' value='Login' name='Login'> <br/> \n" ; echo "<input type='submit' value='You may also continue you as a guest.'> \n" ; echo "</form>" ; ?> </body> </html> MySQL Client Version: 5.1.50-community PHP Version: 5.3.5 Apache Version: 2.2.17 Okay, I am trying to get MySQL to cooperate with PHP. The extension_dir in my php.ini file is as follows: Code: [Select] extension_dir = "C:\Program Files\Apache 2.2\php\ext"3. The php.ini file is also in the C:\Windows folder. 4.
