PHP - Form Spam Protection Idea - Will This Work?
Hey,
Wondering if this would work, it is based on the idea that everyone who is a real visitor will be using a browser, is that correct? Do robots use browsers too? if so, it wont work! haha. <? $browser = mb_substr($_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT'], 0, 31); if (!empty($browser)){echo '<form action="send.php" method="post">';} ?> Just thought it was nice and simple, and couldnt see anywhere if it would work or not... Similar Tutorialsim having some robots injecting gibberish i wnat to deny amy links in the requesttext of the form for some reason i tested it and it accepted a http link Code: [Select] if (preg_match("/http/i","$RequestText")){ exit();} thanks I have a comment section that is secure against everything except spam.. Is there anyway to do like a 10second minimum wait time between posts? I added a css bubble thing around my comment and if it reaches i think 36 characteres with no spacing it breaks out of the buble and keeps going in a straight line. if i type over 35 words it will auto breakline and stay inside the bubble but i need fix this and i have no idea how. http://www.mysite.giacjr.dino-hosting.net/index.php take a look, it will explain itself alot better than i just did. I haven't had a problem with sql injection yet, but I'm scarred to death. I didn't do any form data validation as I was building my site. I'm just now starting to learn how. Magic_quotes is turned on at my host. I know about htmlspecialchars and mysql_real_escape_string and stripslashes and htmlentities. In testing each of these, it seems they all miss one thing or another. so, I created an array of words and characters that I can't for the life of me imagine anyone would ever need on any form in my site, that I THINK addresses most if not all of the really bad things. But hey... I'm new to this. So here is my array and using print_r() it looks pretty good. Code: [Select] $badstuff = array('select','delete','update','insert','drop','=',';','"','\'','<','>','/'); Code: [Select] Array ( [0] => select [1] => delete [2] => update [3] => insert [4] => drop [5] => select [6] => delete [7] => update [8] => insert [9] => drop [10] => = [11] => ; [12] => " [13] => ' [14] => < [15] => > [16] => / ) My str_ireplace() function works fine within the code, but I'd like to create a function using str_ireplace(). I am failing miserably. Here is my function that doesn't work... Code: [Select] function strip($string){ return str_ireplace($badstuff,"",$string); } Here below..... the first line, that uses the function does NOT work. The second line that just uses str_replace() function works fine. Code: [Select] echo strip($string).'<br>'; echo str_ireplace($badstuff,"",$string) Can anyone tell me why my function does not work? I've read and watched 20 tutorials and just can't see the problem. Thanks for any input.
Customer data is encrypted using OpenSSL, and then stored in mySQL varbinary column on a server.
Question: What if I encrypted that key? Then I would be the only one able to read the encrypted customer data on my server, even if that server got hacked. Obviously that would not work, because the server needs the untampered secret key in order to encrypt the data for mySQL. Although this seems insurmountable, it feels more like a logic problem....where if you think about it long enough, the answer will come. Any thoughts on this? Thank you.
Hi guys, When I insert the following code I get the parsing error "unexpected $end": Code: [Select] <?PHP if(isSet($_GET['sid'])) { $con = mysql_connect("localhost","YYYYY", "XXXXX"); if (!$con) {die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error("oop")); mysql_select_db("YYYYY_testDB") or die(mysql_error()); $totalresult = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM QANDATable"); $num_rows = mysql_num_rows($totalresult); $limit; $counter = 1; while($counter < mysql_num_rows($totalresult)){ $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM QANDATable WHERE id = $counter"); $row = mysql_fetch_array($result); echo $row['TSuperQuestion']; if(isSet($_GET['sid'])){ echo "<a href=\"/Code-sandbox.php?sid=".$name."&qandanumber=".$counter."\">next</a>";} echo $row['TQuestion']; echo $row['TAnswer']; $counter++;} } else { echo "<h2>Enter Student Number:</h2>"; echo '<form name="input" action="./Code-sandbox.php" method="GET">'; echo '<input type="text" name="sid"/>'; echo '<input type="submit" value="Submit">'; echo '</form>'; } ?> The code worked before I inserted: Code: [Select] if(isSet($_GET['sid'])){ echo "<a href=\"/Code-sandbox.php?sid=".$name."&qandanumber=".$counter."\">next</a>";}Any idea what is wrong here? In a nutshell here is what I am wishing to do. The user clicks on a link. The link has an ID# embedded in it. For this example, we will assume that the Link ID (lid) = 4-1-1 Now I have 2 tables: Table 1 Columns: ID | contact_fname | contact_lname 10 Bl4ck Maj1k Table 2 Columns: ID | contact_id | link_id 1 10 4-1-1 I need to display the contact's First and Last name if he is associated with the current link. The way I thought to track that was via table joins. I have attempted a code but it doesnt work. I basically want to make it so whenever Table 1 has a person with an ID equal to the Contact ID of table 2 AND whenever the Link ID in our URL (which I am capturing via a $_GET function and storing in a variable) is equal to the Link ID in our table with the associated contact in it, I want to then display the First Name and Last Name. Below is my failed attempt at this. Weird thing is, I have done this several times before. I don't see myself doing anything different but I must be because it simply doesn't work. Any help would be greatly appreciated... Code: [Select] <?php $link_id = $_GET['lid']; $query = "SELECT table1.id, table1.contact_fname, table1.contact_lname, table2.contact_id, table2.link_id FROM table1, table2 WHERE table1.id = table2.contact_id AND table2.link_id = $link_id"; $sql = mysql_query($query); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($sql)) { $contact_fname = $row['contact_fname ']; $contact_lname = $row['contact_lname ']; echo '' . $contact_fname . ' ' . $contact_lname . '' ; } ?> Please let me know what I am doing wrong here! Thanks boys and girls :-) Bl4ck Maj1k

Guys: I'm implementing a form for user submission. At the end of the form, there is an image that displays some randomly generated code. The user will be required to enter the code shown on this image before he clicks the submit button. This is done to protect the form from spamming, automatic submission. After the submit button is clicked, I need to do this: if ($_POST['the code the user enters'] == the code on the image) { // proceed(); } Any idea on how to get the code displayed on the image ? Thanks. Hello there! I made a contact-form with PHP but the e-mails go directly into the spam folder. Then I ran a test on http://www.mail-tester.com and I got some errors. As you can tell, I am new to PHP and I don't know what to do. I appreciate any help! Errors: 1. HTML_MIME_NO_HTML_TAG HTML-only message, but there is no HTML tag 2. MIME_HTML_ONLY Message only has text/html MIME parts 3. MISSING_DATE Missing Date: header 4. "Your message is not signed by DKIM" 5. "There is no SPF record. I tried many things but nothing really worked. Also, I am a noob at PHP so I am kind of lost. Thanks for your help! I have a simple contact form I did a while ago for a small company. They emailed me saying they are getting bits of spam mail from the site occasionally and would like to get it stopped if possible. This is how my form looks: Code: [Select] <form method="post" action="mailer.php"> <div class="form_left"> <p>Name:<br> <input type="text" name="name" size="24" autofocus="true" placeholder="Type Here" required="true" /></p> </div> <div class="form_right"> <p>Email:<br> <input type="email" name="email" size="24" placeholder="Type Here" required="true" /></p> </div> <div class="form_left"> <p>Company Name:<br /> <input type="text" name="company" size="24" placeholder="Type Here" required="true" /></p> </div> <div class="form_right"> <p>Phone Number:<br /> <input type="text" name="phone" size="24" placeholder="Type Here" required="true" /></p> </div> <div class="form_left"> <p>Your Message:<br /> <textarea rows="6" name="message" cols="55" placeholder="Type Here" ></textarea></p> </div> <p class="submit"><input type="submit" value="Send Mail" name="submit" /></p> </form> Code: [Select] <?php if(isset($_POST['submit'])) { // $to = "mail@mydomain.com"; $to = "mail@mydomain.com"; $subject = "Web Enquiry"; $name = $_POST['name']; $email = $_POST['email']; $company = $_POST['company']; $phone = $_POST['phone']; $message = $_POST['message']; if (strlen(trim($message)) > 0) { $body = "From: $name \n\n Email: $email \n \n Company: $company \n\n Phone Number: $phone \n\n Message: $message"; if (mail($to, $subject, $body)) { echo "<h3>Thanks! I get this error Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_IF in /home/repairyo/public_html/shop/includes/content/viewOrders.inc.php on line 57 I have no idea what ive done wrong, may be I am stupid for attempting it. Cheers Paul This is the original code Code: [Select] $view_orders->assign('VAL_STATE',$lang['glob']['orderState_'.$orders[$i]['status']]); This is the modified code Code: [Select] $view_orders->assign('VAL_STATE',$state = $results[$i]['status'] if ($state == '1') { "<font color='#ff9900'>".$lang['glob']['orderState_'.$results[$i]['status']]."</font>"; } else if ($state == '2') { "<font color='#009900'>".$lang['glob']['orderState_'.$results[$i]['status']]."</font>"; } else if ($state == '4') { "<font color='#cc0000'>".$lang['glob']['orderState_'.$results[$i]['status']]."</font>"; } else if ($state == '5') { "<font color='#cc0000'>".$lang['glob']['orderState_'.$results[$i]['status']]."</font>"; } else if ($state == '6') { "<font color='#cc0000'>".$lang['glob']['orderState_'.$results[$i]['status']]."</font>"; } else if ($state == '7') { "<font color='#ff9900'>".$lang['glob']['orderState_'.$results[$i]['status']]."</font>"; } else { $lang['glob']['orderState_'.$orders[$i]['status']]); } OK here is what I have going on right now. Currently I'm trying to build a excel spread sheet into a dynamic form via php. The results are basically questions and are stored each week so for one section they may be asking how many visitors, employee's , etc.. now some of these values that are being entered are going to be used in another question per-say but the result may come from other values that were already submitted so these questions would not be shown in the form that needs to be made later on. The form I'm having trouble with is the initial form to help generate the formula's for these different questions. So what I was going to start doing was have it list all the questions with a check box next to the question if the formula for said question was something like add these two questions and the divide by this set of questions or a whole number then it would display a list of questions for adding together and the get the total from that set and then do a expression afterwards like adding, subtracting, multiplying or dividing. So I was thinking I should list like a set of buttons I think in the beginning. What is the first task at hand Totaling, Adding, Subtracting, Dividing, Multiplying and then when they click on this it would refresh the page and bring up a box that lists all the different questions for them. Then saving the values as which ever button they clicked and once they do this. Then they could either click on say a more button which would pass the values as a array back to the page and continue on or they could click submit and pass the values into a db field as a formula but this is my first concept and would like to know if there may be a better way of doing it. Code: [Select] if ($_POST['username'] == "[, ., ,, _, -" ){ die('Invalid characters.'); i want it to mean if there are any characters like ", [ . - _ ' " or anything in the username then die('invalid characters.'); for extra safety I have been getting a lot more client requests to protect files. What is the easiest way to do this. So, basically I have tried doing it outside the public directory. There are too many things that cause issues with this. I haven't been able to get a successfull implementation of this since I started working with this. So I was thinking instead about password protecting a directory that is inside public view, but still get files via PHP. Is there a way to setup a password protected directory, then retreive stuff from that directory using PHP. Or, a good way to put them outside the public folder. Everything I have tried to do to get a file to save outside of public view, has not worked. It always says uploaded but the file is never there. Also, I have verified correct permission for this as well. I want to password protect my entire website. How would I go on to doing this. There is a website that has this already (www.printerdev.co.uk). I want to do the exact same thing but not sure how to. Can someone please help me |
