PHP - Linking Comment Systen To Template Page
Ok. Thought I'd be able to do this myself but ran into a couple of snags. This is the template page for the image thumbnails. WHen a thumbnail is clicked it is dragged into this template. I put the code for the comments on the page but it's just not working properly. When I post comment the comment posts but the picture turns into my BAD PHOTO ID error message. Have some ideas on whats going but it's getting kind of messy. If you need to see the pages from the comment system I will post. Thanks phpeople. Where's fugix?

Here is my main issue there are 3 comment's and they all well make such mess .... and if there aren't any comment's have such issue .... Hi guyz, I am looking to create a dymanic comment box for my website where already logged in users can comment on webpages. It is quite a challenge getting to dynamically display only the comments a particular user posted on a web page. What I mean is I would like to be able to click on a page, see only the comments logged users posted on that page, and then post my own comment on that page. At the moment I created a comment box for my webpages but the issue is my posted comments on one particular page is displaying on all web pages with is comment system..This is the problem and it is very difficult to find helpful material hopefully you guyz can come to the rescue. Please guys any help or suggestions are more than welcome. Thanks Kdiamonds I am looking to add a comment area to pages that are created with data that is pulled off of a database. I am looking for something like the forums on this site, but not as complex. I was thinking about attempting to use a text file to hold the comments for each ID number that is in my database and then displaying those comments when the ID number is called. I'm not sure how I would go about making a function that would search if there was a text file for that ID number and if not to create one. I'm not even sure if this is the best way to go about it but I know if I put all the comments into a database it will get rather large rather quickly. Any pointers and good tutorials would be welcome. Sorry if it sounds as if this post is rambling, I think I need to step away from the computer for a bit. Thanks Hi, Is it possible to build a PHP Template page that selects and publishes a row of data from a MySQL Database when a linked is clicked? I would design: Template.php Text links (perhaps on homepage of navigation bar): ProductA, ProductB and ProductC If you click link ProductA Template.php would display data for ProductA and likewise for ProductB and ProductC. I would also like search engines for find ProductA, ProductB and ProductC PHP pages. (Not just my single Template.php) Any ideas as to how this could be done without designing individual PHP pages for each product? Kind regards, Matthew. I'm working on a site that provides database results. To get to the final report, I'm going through a few pages where the user selects specific options. This builds up arrays that need to be passed from one page to another. As a result the final page has a pretty lengthy variable list. Since I want to provide a link to certain customers where they don't have to go through all the option select stuff, I'm using the GET method on the final page. Due to all the arrays I need to pass, I'm hitting hyperlink address character limitations, and I fear I will eventually hit browser URL length limits. Is there any way to provide links to customers without using the GET method so I could keep the URL length down? Dear all, Is it possible to link a php web page into a ASP3 classic page? Suppose there's a link on a ASP page into a PHP page, also there a link in the PHP page to the ASP page. I was thinking about use session variable to go back and forth between the page, but I don't know how to use the variable in the PHP or ASP code. Is this a correct way? Or is there any other approach? regards, ethereal1m This topic has been moved to Ajax Help. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=322815.0 Okay so im not that new with PHP but im still learning. So im creating a php website with dreamweaver CS3 and phpmyadmin, which is based on a Music Library. I have a page where you can browse by the artists name. When you click on that it shows you all the artists with that name. But its the next part im having difficulty with. Keeping this as a one page system, i want the artists albums to be displayed when you click on a particular artist. I tried some methods but it doesnt seem to work [Refer to the images from below] Image1 shows the alphabetical list..clicking on any of these takes you to Image 2 which displays all the artists. By clicking on one of these artists i want it to take me to a seperate page which shows all their albums. And by clicking on the albums it shows song names from those particular albums. These song names will then be linked to actual lyrics of the song. There are three tables i have on phpmyadmin which i want the data to be from. These are albums -album_id -artist -album_name -tracklisting -genre -release_date -price -album_image -album_description artists -artist_ID -artist -artist_info -image media -media_id -song_url -video_url -artist -album -song_title -lyrics The ones in bold are the field names id like to be included in the php script. The edition of mhpmyadmin i have doesnt enable linked tables. any help would be greatly appreciatted. Thanks. People upload photos to my site. They go into a gallery. They are all linked. Right now when you click one they go nowhere. I want to be each photo to open in its own page with my comment system already on it. Should I be using templates? If so how? Heres code to the gallery page if needed. And I'm using dreamweavers server behaviors. If that will cause a problem let me know. Still new to PHP but getting better...maybe. Wordpress has the ability to recognize a custom page and make it available to select it and use when you are logged in in the pages section of the admin ui. To make it work you add this:
<?php /* * Template Name: My Custom Page * Description: A Page Template with a darker design. */ // Code to display Page goes here...My question is how does wordpress scan and find these files and then show them in a drop down menu on the pages tab of the admin? Is it done with regular expressions? Many thanks for any help! Hey PHPFreaks! I'm designing an online application using OOP. This is by no means my first application, but it is using Object Oriented techniques, so I come to you helpful folks with a question.Essentially, I would like to be able to find out about recommended ways to approach page templates in a class design, as well as other general good class design practices specific to server-side languages. So, without further ado, what is considered a good/recommended method of approaching template design using OOP? For example, a base template class which can be extended for multiple themes, so additional themes don't have to recreate the core functionality if they decide not to change it. It seems that there are a lot of methods to approach it, which is why I'm here! Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated! This topic has been moved to Third Party PHP Scripts. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=358619.0 Hi. I’m hoping someone can help me pull the styling/formatting from a static page onto a category template. The content is pulling fine, but it's not formatted/styled. Code used to pull content from static page onto custom category template: <?php $page = get_page_by_title( 'page-name' ); $content = apply_filters('the_content', $page->post_content); echo $content; ?> With the above code, the content is being pulled, but the formatting and styling is not being pulled. The following code is adapted to pull the styling/formatting: <?php $page = get_page_by_title( 'Wedding Venues in Costa Rica' ); $content = apply_filters('the_content', $page->post_content); echo do_blocks( $content );> It did not pull the styling/formatting. We’re using GeneratePress Pro + Generate Blocks (no page builder). The static page is built with Gutenberg and GenerateBlocks. By the way, I'mm not a coder or a developer. I know a little about this and about that, but this isn't my field of expertise. Could someone please suggest what can be done to this code to get it to pull the styling form the static page onto the custom category template? Thank you very much. I am pretty new to PHP and am trying to create a simple (so I assumed) page to takes data from one html page(works fine) and updates a MYSQL Database. I am getting no error message, but the connect string down to the end of the body section is showing up as plain text in my browser window. I do not know how to correct this. I have tried using two different types of connect strings and have verified my names from the HTML page are the same as listed within the php page. Suggestions on what I need to look for to correct would be great. I have looked online, but so far all I am getting is how to connect, or how to create a comment, so I thought I would try here. Thank you for any assistance I may get!! - Amy - Code: [Select] <body><font color="006600"> <div style="background-color:#f9f9dd;"> <fieldset> <h1>Asset Entry Results</h1> <?php // create short variable names $tag=$_POST['tag']; $serial=$_POST['serial']; $category=$_POST['category']; $status=$_POST['status']; $branch=$_POST['branch']; $comments=$_POST['comments']; if (!$tag || !$serial || !$category || !$status || !$branch) { echo "You have not entered all the required details.<br />" ."Please go back and try again."; exit; } if (!get_magic_quotes_gpc()) { $tag = addslashes($tag); $serial = addslashes($serial); $category = addslashes($category); $status = addslashes($status); $branch = addslashes($branch); $comments = addslashes($comments); } //@ $db = new mysqli('localhost', 'id', 'pw', 'inventory'); $db = DBI->connect("dbi:mysql:inventory:localhost","id","pw") or die("couldnt connect to database"); $query = "insert into assets values ('".$serial."', '".$tag."', '".$branch."', '".$status."', '".$category."', '".$comments."')"; $result = $db->query($query); if ($result) { echo $db->affected_rows." asset inserted into Inventory."; } else { echo "An error has occurred. I want this format http://www.example.com/sample-post/ in the links. Please help. Since my last post about the website I was working on, I've figured out what I was asking. But now, I've run into another problem... Once I have a functional form on my website where a user inputs data and presses submit, how do I go about getting it to remain posted where directed? So if the user types his first and last name and presses submit, how do I get their input to remain posted on the page, much like a guestbook? I'm a newbie at this stuff, but it's a must for mine and my partner's website. Thanks again! PS... I have the code for the form all typed out and it works, it just displays the data with $echo rather than posting it permanantly. |
