PHP - Directory Issues - Why Does My Website Work!
My very first post..... please be gentle.
Question 1: Why does this work? - include("./includes/constants.php"); Ok here goes - I have a website which was written in php. I did not write it and the person who did was new to php and programming - as am I. I have the job of completing it. It was written trying to follow an OO model. I have a class 'Database.php' which handles the DB connection side of things. Pretty standard stuff. This database class 'includes' a file called 'constants.php' which stores the DB_SERVER, DB_USER, DB_PASS and DB_NAME properties. HERE IS THE CATCH. The includes statement says: include("./includes/constants.php"); I dont understand the single dot and have not yet used it. The site works fine - with the exception that my forms do not work. The site pulls data, images, urls from the database so it obviously connects ok. The constants.php file is located up one level then in the includes folder. ie include("../includes/constants.php"); If I add a second dot ( ../ )it breaks - even though the path is correct with 2 dots. I dont get it. Question 2: So to add insult to injury when I leave it as a single dot (if it aint broke, dont fix it) and try to post a form I get these error messages: Warning: include(./includes/constants.php) [function.include]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/******/public_html/development/classes/database.php on line 2 Warning: include(./includes/constants.php) [function.include]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/******/public_html/development/classes/database.php on line 2 Warning: include() [function.include]: Failed opening './includes/constants.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/******/public_html/development/classes/database.php on line 2 I am a total newb at this but my english tells me that all of a sudden it is looking for my constants.php file in a total new path either :/usr/lib/php or usr/local/lib/php. Is there something special about 'includes'? I have used requires and require_once etc for other included files (in this website) without any path drama. I am using cPanel and I dont even see those directories - /usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php. I hope I didnt put anyone to sleep. Both of these seem like simple problems, but I have tried and failed. Thanks for your help. Similar TutorialsI've been working on this for several hours, and I know its something you guys can do in about 3 seconds. So hoping you don't mind helping me out here... I have the following code, which is not quite working: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^mysite.com RewriteRule ^vote/(.*)$ wp-content/blogs.dir/2/vote/$1 [L] I'm trying to load the index.html page in mysite.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/2/vote load by using mysite.com/vote, but I get a 404 - page not found. The only way it sort of works is if I go to mysite.com/vote/index.html. Even then, it doesn't load any of the images (which are stored one level deeper in an 'images' directory: mysite.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/2/vote). Any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong here? It may be important to note that Wordpress is installed on the root directory. Thanks! Hi all, So I've nearly finished coding my first website. Currently all the files are in the same directory on my harddrive, but I now want to create a proper folder structure that will be secure. I have been reading up on this a lot on various websites, but it seems like most articles on this topic are targetted at developers with much more complicated websites than mine, and it's all a bit over my head. My website is quite simple, it consists of the following: 1) html files and php files that print something to the screen that I want to be accessible to the user by typing in the url in the browser. 2) html and php files that are called upon by 1, they either print something to the screen inside an iframe or not at all - I want these files to be accessible only to 1) and not directly to the user by typing the url 3) image files and includes, etc. (and also 4) a MySQL database, but maybe this doesn't really have anything to do with the website folder structure.) What should my directory structure be and where should I put 1), 2), 3), etc.? Thanks a lot! hey all, i have an issue, i have a directory site called hackingtoolz.tk and if you go to it, you will see a list of folders as it is just a directory the problem is how to i stop the banner from apearing in the directory. i have tried changing the chmod to 4000 and that just made the jpeg stay their and the banner screw up if you go to the site you will understand what i mean better hope you can help cheers nick Experienced PHP and website developer looking for work to buildup a portfolio. Edited by Valrik, 13 January 2015 - 02:41 AM. I am a newbie to this forum and a real beginner on PHP
After the website went down after the server upgrade to 5.4.30, parts came back but in other places got 2 error messages.
1. Home page - Login by members
Fatal Error: call to undefined function session_is_registered() in member_auth_fns.php on line 28
2. Admin - Login by me
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '$_SESSION' (T_VARIABLE), expecting '(' in contacts/user_auth_fns.php line 28
I appreciate that the old php was based on session_start (), session_register, session_is_registered, session_unregister, but these were all deprecated in 5.4.30.
So to put it bluntly, after trying to interpret the help manuals etc I found a backup I had taken before this and in respect of the Home page login and the admin login what I think was the previous relevant code was before the event
<?
function login ($member_name, $password)
// check member and password with db
// if yes, return true
//else return false
{
// connect to db
$conn = db_connect();
if (!$conn) return 0;
$result = MySQL_query(select * from people
where username='$member_name'
and password = '$password' ");
if (!$result) return 0;
if (MySQL_num_rows($result)>0)
return 1;
else
return;
}
function check_auth_member
Some text here
global $auth_member;
if ( (session_is_registered("auth_member")) && (isset($auth_member)) )
return true;
else
return false
}
?>
Anyone who can give me the revised code for this it would be greatly appreciated

Hi guys, I've been working on a script for a while now, and I'm sure it doesn't look great and all, and it's probably really messed up.. But right now I've finally got it working! There's only 1 thing I'd really like to add.. Searching through & listing of remote directories! The directories I'm trying to list have directory listings enabled, and I think it *should* be possible. I just have no clue how. Here's my current code in a beautiful mix of HTML and PHP: <? $border_size = "0"; function returner($what) { $what=explode("/",$what); $tps=count($what); $what=$what[$tps-1]; return $what; } $page_url= ""; $home_url=returner(__FILE__); if(isset($_GET['q'])) { $qtext=$_GET['q']; } else { $qtext=""; } function getdirsize($directory, $format=FALSE) { $size = 0; if(substr($directory,-1) == '/') { $directory = substr($directory,0,-1); } if(!file_exists($directory) || !is_dir($directory) || !is_readable($directory)) { return -1; } if($handle = opendir($directory)) { while(($file = readdir($handle)) !== false) { $path = $directory.'/'.$file; if($file != '.' && $file != '..') { if(is_file($path)) { $size += filesize($path); } elseif(is_dir($path)) { $handlesize = getdirsize($path); if($handlesize >= 0) { $size += $handlesize; } else { return -1; } } } } closedir($handle); } if($format == TRUE) { if($size / 1048576 > 1) { return round($size / 1048576, 1).' MB'; } elseif($size / 1024 > 1) { return round($size / 1024, 1).' KB'; } else { return round($size, 1).' bytes'; } } else { return $size; } } if(isset($_GET['type'])){ $type=$_GET['type']; } else { $type="new"; } $textures=0; $models=0; $avatars=0; $seqs=0; $sounds=0; foreach (glob("textures/*.jpg") as $texture){ $textures++; } foreach (glob("models/*.zip") as $model){ $models++; } foreach (glob("avatars/*.zip") as $avatar){ $avatars++; } foreach (glob("seqs/*.zip") as $seq){ $seqs++; } foreach (glob("sounds/*.zip") as $sound){ $sounds++; } ?> <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <title>ObjectPath Search</title> <style type="text/css"> #wrapper { width: 850px; margin: 30px auto 30px auto; padding: 10px; } body { color:#C6C6C6; background:#1E1E1E; /* margin:0; padding:0; */ overflow-x:hidden; } #tabs { font: 85% "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif; } .left { float: left; } .right { float: right; } a:link, a:visited, a:active { color: #3DB015; text-decoration: none; } a:hover { color: #00E0FF; } h2 { color: #3DB015; padding-bottom: 0.2em; font-size: 110%; } ul#icon {margin: 0; padding: 0;} ul#icon li {margin: 1px; position: relative; padding: 1px 0; cursor: pointer; float: left; list-style: none;} ul#icon span.ui-icon {float: left; margin: 0 1px;} </style> <link type="text/css" href="http://objects.jk-hosting.com/search/css/black-tie/jquery-ui-1.8.2.custom.css" rel="stylesheet" /> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://objects.jk-hosting.com/search/js/jquery-1.4.2.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://objects.jk-hosting.com/search/js/jquery-ui-1.8.2.custom.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> function formHandler(form){ var URL = document.form.site.options[document.form.site.selectedIndex].value; window.location.href = URL; }; $(function(){ // Tabs $('#tabs').tabs(); }); </script> </head> <body> <div id="wrapper"> <div id="tabs"> <!-- Tabs start --> <ul> <li><a href="#tab-search">Search</a></li> <li><a href="#tab-list">List Objects</a></li> <li><a href="#tab-info">OP info</a></li> </ul> <div id="tab-search"><!-- Searchtab start --> Please enter a string to search for, and choose a folder to search in. <br /><br /> <form name="Search"> <input type='hidden' value='search' name='type'> <input value='<? print $qtext; ?>' type='text' name='q'> <select name='map'> <option selected='selected' value='models'>Models</option> <option value='avatars'>Avatars</option> <option value='textures'>Textures</option> <option value='seqs'>Seqs</option> <option value='sounds'>Sounds</option></select> <input type='submit' value='Search'> </form> </div> <!-- Searchtab end --> <div id="tab-list"><!-- Listtab start --> Please pick a folder to browse. <br /><br /> <form name="form"> <select name="site" onChange="javascript:formHandler()"> <option value="#">Look in folder...</option> <option value="<? print $page_url; ?>?type=list&map=models">Models</option> <option value="<? print $page_url; ?>?type=list&map=avatars">Avatars</option> <option value="<? print $page_url; ?>?type=list&map=textures">Textures</option> <option value="<? print $page_url; ?>?type=list&map=seqs">Seqs</option> <option value="<? print $page_url; ?>?type=list&map=sounds">Sounds</option> </select> </form> </div> <!-- Listtab end --> <div id="tab-info"><!-- Info tab start --> The OP currently contains: <br /><br /> <table> <tr><td><b><? echo $models; ?></b></td> <td>Models</td></tr> <tr><td><b><? echo $avatars; ?></b></td> <td>Avatars</td></tr> <tr><td><b><? echo $textures; ?></b></td> <td>Textures</td></tr> <tr><td><b><? echo $seqs; ?></b></td> <td>Seqs</td></tr> <tr><td><b><? echo $sounds; ?></b></td> <td>Sounds</td></tr> </table> </div> <!-- Info tab end --> </div> <!-- Tabs end --> </div> <!-- Start PHP generated content --> <? if($type=="search" || $type=="list") { $M=$_GET['map']; if($type=="search") { $Q=$_GET['q']; $empty="Nothing found with <b>\"" . $Q . How I can make a script of my PHP code to work even if my website is not running
Can I make this with php ?
i have made an delete files script which works for only one directory but not sub directory so i want to delete files of same extention from directory and subdirectory. My current code is Code: [Select] <? $dir = 'hmm/'; function scanr($dir){ $arr = glob($dir.'/*.jpg'); foreach($arr as $vv){ //check if $vv is a file if(is_file($vv)){ //if file, get the filename $vx=explode('/',$vv); $file=$vx[count($vx)-1]; // if no extension delete the file unlink($vv); // print the deletion message echo $vv." deleted!<br>";}else{ // if $vv is a dir then scan it again for files scanr($vv); }} } scanr($dir); ?> I'm trying to echo the directory and sub directory only. I am not looking to show the files contained - only folders. I'm trying to make a League of Legends (a video game) community website, both as a personal project and for practice. Now the game has a lot of champions, each of whom have 5 unique abilities. Now, I thought about manually inputting all the details about each champion into a MySQL database, but that would long and tedious, and I don't really have the time for it now. Also, the game patches very oftern (like, once every 2 weeks) which changes many of the stats, etc. of the champion, and it is not possible for me to keep manually updating these every time there is a patch. Fortunately, there is a League of Legends Wiki which has all the data I need in their specific champion pages, which they keep updated per patch. So I was wondering if there was any way to get the data from the divs in the wiki, and have it display on my site. What I want to do in my website is that whenever someone types a champion's name (in a post or whatever), I want it to display a hover-over dialog with some of the champions details. And a lot of other features such as that. In plain English I need a way to : > Tell PHP to go to the wiki's source code on a specific page > Find a specific div container > Get X data from there > Pass X data into a function to display the hover-over I think this way, I would not have to maintain a database as I can leech off the wiki's data. I have not coded anything like this before, so I would like a few pointers as to how to achieve this. Any help will be appreciated! Hi.., I use below method to export data to excel. header('Content-type: application/ms-excel'); header('Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=abc.xls'); if I run the script from the server. (http://localhost/export.php) it is work. (pop-up window if i want save or open the file) but if i run the script from the client (http://192.168.1.5/export.php) it is not work. (nothing happen) any idea how to solve this? This one requires lots of up front information: I have a page, for this example that I will call page.php. It takes get parameters, and for this example I'll call the parameter "step". So I have a URL like this: page.php?step=1 This page has a form with an action of page.php?step=1. The code on the page validates the posting information. If the information is bad, it returns the user to page.php?step=1; if it is good, it takes the user to page.php?step=2 via header( "location:page.php?step=2" ). So redirection is done by relative path, not full URLs. This all works as expected. Now what I've done is set .htaccess to be HTTPS for this page, via this code: # Turn SSL on for payments RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off RewriteCond %{SCRIPT_FILENAME} \/page\.php [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://%{HTTP_HOST}/$1 [R=301,L] This works (initially). However, once you try to post the form, it just redirects back to the step=1 version of the page. I really don't know how or why that would be. I'm not sure how else I can explain this or what other information you may have. But it's frustrating to not get a page working in HTTPS that works in HTTP. Very odd. Any suggestions? (I don't even really know the best location to figure out when/why it's redirecting back to the original page.) require_once 'includes/upload.class.php'; $upload = new uploads(); $details = $upload->getFileInformation($id); <?php echo $details['upload_desc']; ?> then here the class. require_once 'db.class.php'; class uploads extends database { private $uploadData; function uploadFile() { public function getFileInformation($id) { $this->uploadData = $this->readData("uploadfiles", "upload_id", $id); return $this->uploadData; } But it wont work! hello My database is in a same server with seperate domain name , then I want to insert from website1 mysql data on website2 mysql data. can anyone help me? I tried searching on google but couldn't find any relevant information, please redirect me to relevant source or help me with the code. I want to pass a domain name in text field which will be scanned and then the script will display entire site map. Not external links or links on a page. Sorry it is not easy for me to explain. Eg. if i pass abc.com Script will display abc.com/12/adn.php abc.com/asd/asd/ etc Whatever their url format is. All the links on that domain. Some of you may have seen one of my many posts about email issues. Some users don't get them, and I have determined it is probably because we are marked as spam.
We are a service that grades sales team members on their phone skills. Listening to pre-recorded calls, grading and uploading them to our site, and then another part of our business looks them over and sometimes leaves a message that then get's forwarded to this persons work email.
I have determined there is ways to get marked as spam as default by not having an opt out link. This is not an option, these sales members employer has opted in, and the emails are going to work related accounts hosted at that employer. Also, if one of these staff members is not so bright, or disgruntled they may mark us as spam anyways. The bottom line is that we have very little control over whether we are or are not marked as spam.
So we want to start looking into sending text messages and this is where I start to question how good of an idea this is.
First off, if it was me, and the messages where being sent to a device that my employer did not provide, I would in no way want work related text messages coming to me. Unless there is a vested interest in getting them. IE, I'm the boss at this place and am always on the clock. What if you are on the bottom? It's just a job for you.
What if it is a pre-paid device, text messages cost money. What then? What if they don't even have, or want a cell phone?
The short of it is this. If I'm at a job that is just another job, and this employer tells me that I have to get these messages. I'm going to look for another job. I see the organizations having continuous issues and complaints from their employees. Thus us as a business having issues keeping clients.
What am I getting into here? What are your opinions on this matter? What are your recommendations as to alerting users of something on our site that we can rest assured are being received 100% of the time?
Thanks!
Nick
I am using php's zip class, and I am able to zip files up individually, but can I zip an entire directory with its file and sub-folders? Hello, can someone please help me make this. I want a simple php directory script that lists files and folders. If a folder is clicked on then open that directory and if a file is clicked on it will download or if its a .txt or picture it will open in the browser. BUT I NEED IT TO LOOK EXACTLY LIKE THIS: http://test512.x10.mx/ which would be the default cpanel indexing but i use godaddy and i dont like there indexing page. Please help and whoever make it i will provide a subdomain on my website for you to host your stuff. This script reads a directory, and prints out the name of all directories in the directory that I've chosen This works, but it's only displaying the last 2. Right now, I have 6 directories in the the folder I specified. Can anybody tell me why it does not display all of them? Code: [Select] <?php $path = $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT']."/panel/api/connectors/sample/projects/"; foreach(glob($path . '*', GLOB_ONLYDIR) as $dir) { $dir = basename($dir); echo $dir."<br />"; } ?> Thanks in advance Dear friends, I know Zip a file in PHP but I can't Zip a directory.How to Zip a directory in PHP?Can you give an example? |
