PHP - Compare The Exact Words Or Numbers
just a newbie in php
i got the code in this forum and it really works, but not that exact, it can really compare word from array to per line in a file. but what im trying to do is, to compare the exact word/number. if(strstr($line,$key)) echo $line; if $key = 123 and line 1 is 1234 and line 2 is 123 it will still output line1 Code: [Select] $key = "waka"; $fc = file("file.txt"); $f = fopen("file.txt","r"); foreach($fc as $line) { if(strstr($line,$key) echo 4line; } fclose($f); ?> Similar TutorialsHi guys, I am new to PHP/coding and am trying to look for 1. A way of comparing the words in one static array against other dynamically created arrays (created from mysql queries) 2. Work out how many similar words there are - then assign that number to that array My static array is...$comparewithme = array with values = this is an example of an array Mysql_query("select id, words from table_example") Results from query are put into an array that is named according to id.. $result2 = array with values = this is an example of queries $result3 = array with values = this is not an example of php Comparison should give the following info Comparing $comparewithme with $result2 should generate a hit rate of 5 (similar words=this is an example of)... Comparing $comparewithme with $result3 should generate a hit rate of 4 (similar words=this is an example)... Any ideas greatly appreciated...thanks in advance How would I compare 2 random numbers to rows in a table. The table has 4 rows and 2 colums. My table is setup like this: ID hp mp then has just randomly placed numbers from 0 to 5. So far my script looks like this: I have $new_hp=rand(0,5); $new_mp=rand(0,5). Then i query the db by $myquery=doquery("select hp,mp from users"; $myrow=mysql_fetch_array($myquery); once this is done would a while statement like while ($myrow = mysql_fetch_array($myquery) to what each line in the table has? I would then need to compare the random numbers to those entries in the database. Something like if($myrow[hp] == $new_hp && $myrow[mp] == $new_mp) { ? But if the if statement isnt true it needs go back choose another random number and run same again and again until the statement is true and that is where im stuck at so any help would be greatly appreciated Hi All Again I am building a job site with a CV match system. Part of the match is education. I have a number of select boxes in a form for the number of qualifications for each individual applicant. What I would like to know is what is the correct way to put this into a MySQL database and I do not mean the insert code! i.e. English Grade 3. Maths Grade 2. I am getting them to put in total number of grades over 1, then 2 etc. When the query is made I would like the recruiter have the option of not just selecting the grades but subject with it. Should I put English then a , then the grade? It needs to be set up so I can run the query. Thanks for looking and as per last request thanks for your time and help I've been trying to go around with str_replace to replace numbers with words. I have a database which has table actions. The actions are saved in numbers from 0 to 20. I'd need to get something to replace the numbers with words to explain what actions these are. I've tried using this. $action1 = str_replace("5", "Command", "action1"); But that doesn't work. Not even 100% sure if that is even correct, because I am new to the str_replace thing anyway. Could someone help me with this, please? Hi, I need to sort variables in groups of up to 15 and put it in an array. For example: $exstract['center_tabOpBody_0'] =5 $exstract['center_tabOpBody_1'] =6 $exstract['center_tabOpBody_2'] =8 $exstract['center_tabOpBody_3'] =1 Should yield: ARRAY( = center_tabOpBody_1,center_tabOpBody_2,center_tabOpBody_3 // <-----15 [1] = center_tabOpBody_0 //<----5 ) Is there some simple function do do the "efficiency" sort? Thanks, Vadim im trying to preg_replace the word product in a string, but if i use something like .. $k = 'product'; $str = 'product and product.test' preg_replace("/\b$k\b/", 'replace_with_me', $str); it will replace product and product.test instead of just product. Is it possible to write to an exact line and column of a text file with PHP like with fwrite or something? If I query my database:
www.mydomain.com/index.php?room=M210
I get both room M201 and M210B in my results.
I know enough to know that is a result of:
and (allstate_schedule.room LIKE '$room%')So I change it to this: and (allstate_schedule.room LIKE '$room')Now the query works correctly: www.mydomain.com/index.php?room=M210 But if I pull up an unfiltered list: www.mydomain.com/index.php ... I get my "No records found matching:" here is my code: $query = "SELECT allstate_schedule.sponsor,allstate_schedule.school,allstate_schedule.student,allstate_schedule.instrument,allstate_schedule.school,allstate_schedule.room,allstate_schedule.time from allstate_schedule WHERE ((allstate_schedule.sponsor LIKE '$sponsor%') and (allstate_schedule.student LIKE '%$student%') and (allstate_schedule.instrument LIKE '$instrument%') and (allstate_schedule.school LIKE '$school%') and (allstate_schedule.room LIKE '$room%') and (allstate_schedule.time LIKE '$time%')) ORDER BY allstate_schedule.$sort LIMIT $eu, $limit "; $resultt = mysql_query($query); // Determine the number of employees $number = mysql_num_rows($resultt); if ($number == 0) { print "<b>No records found matching</b>:"; $sponsor = $sponsor; $school = $school; $room = $room; $student = $student; Edited by wkilc, 08 November 2014 - 12:07 PM. Hello everyone, I am trying to select and return any rows that have a specific string in it. Let's say I have a column name "item_id" and in every row of that column I have values like so: row A: (11,22,44,34) row B: (12,56,78,98) If the user picks the number '22', I use the following SQL line to get the row in which the number '22' is contained. SELECT * FROM Persons WHERE City LIKE '%22%' and row A gets returned, just like it is suppose to. The problem is, if the user selects a single digit number like '2', both row A and row B gets returned because they both have values that contain the number '2' in it. Instance, row A has the number '22' and row B has the number '12' so both rows get returned when the number '2' is requested. I don't want that, I only want the row that has the exact number '2' or '34' or whatever number I request, to be returned. So to get around this problem, I am wrapping my numbers in letters like so: row A: (a11a,a22a,a44a,a34a) row B: (a12a,a56a,a78a,a98a,a2a) and requesting it like so: SELECT * FROM Persons WHERE City LIKE '%a22a%' My question is: Is there a better way to work out this logic? is there a way to print the file as it appears. I want to print the HTML and PHP within a file rather than just the output. Example: File contains: <?php echo "Hello World"; ?> i would like to echo: <?php echo "Hello World"; ?> instead of just hello world which is what i get with file_get_contents() Dear php freaks, In my test file the following code works perfectly: Code: [Select] <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; Where can be the problem? What should i look for? I have a array of file path strings and trying to search the array for a string that would be the end of the path sting and return the index of the file path that contains the string. I've tried using something like this, but it finds the keyword in anyplace in the file path. I've also tried strripos() as well with the same results. Any suggestions? function array_search_partial($arr, $keyword) { foreach ($arr as $index => $string) { if(strpos($string, $keyword) !== FALSE) { return $index; } } }
I’m translating some mixed PHP/MySQL code into pure MySQL code. Now I'm having a problem about how to translate PHP's time() function. I’m not sure how to choose between NOW(), CURDATE(), CURTIME(), and several others. I tried NOW(), but to my surprise it outputs today’s year (i.e. 2014) instead of the Unix integer timestamp I'm looking for. And this behaviour seems contray to the MySQL manual. What should I do ? :-\Have been reading a few places about how to set php.ini file to be able to use MySQL on my Yahoo website. But am also warned to avoid tampering needlessly with registry. So I need an absolute precedure, with port 465, I also know. Embarassing how long this has taken me to find some of this out! Thanks, Yshua Hi Im working on a market place style website. the framework im using is called elgg. it uses an algoritm to find the right approximate width and height of an image thats being uploaded. but on my site, all heights and widths must be the same. this is difficult because some pictures have much greater width than height and some have much greater height. so whats the best algoritm to use to make an accurate thumbnail of all images uploaded? Thanks err, dunno if i managed to put it in the right thread but if i didn't, please tell me. thank you.
getting back on topic, my father asked me to create a website for a school. i know how to make a website but the problem is, how do i start? should i ask about their objectives or something? color of the webpage etc? in short, i don't know the practicalities and processes used in making a website for a certain client. you could say this would be my first time in doing this (kind of like an on-the-job training) so...any ideas? i would very much appreciate any help given.
Can php be used to get two blog entries and compare them side by side, with a choice one which one to use. A bit like wikipedia has ? Hi, I want to compare the tables from 2 mysql databases in a table. This is what I have: for($i=0;$i<$maxCount;$i++) { echo "<tr>"; // start row //fist data square if ($i < count($db1)) echo "<td>{$db1[$i]}</td>"; else echo "<td></td>"; echo "<td></td>"; // middle //last if ($i < count($db2)) echo "<td>{$db2[$i]}</td>"; else echo "<td></td>"; echo "</tr>"; // end row } that will put make a nice table for me to see. What I'd like to do next is have all identical sql tables lined up. So for e.g I have 2 arrays of table names that will look like this: Databse 1 Database 2 table1 table1 table2 table3 table4 table4 does that make sense? Also is there a more elegant way of scripting what I have? I know the forum is supposed to be used to help with any code I have come up with but here's to taking a shot anyway: I am in need of creating a php script that will allow me to input two different XML files and upon pressing "go" will compare these two files and save only the differences to a new xml file. Thing is, I have no idea where to start. Are there any php functions that exist that I can use to do this? If not, cn someone help me create one? Would this be better handled in javascript? If so, how can I do so using a method similar to the above? Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated. |
