Code: [Select] <script type="text/javascript"> function lookup(inputString) { if(inputString.length == 0) { // Hide the suggestion box. $('#suggestions').hide(); } else { $.post("rpc.php", {queryString: ""+inputString+""}, function(data){ if(data.length >0) { $('#suggestions').show(); $('#autoSuggestionsList').html(data); } }); } } // lookup function fill(thisValue) { $('#inputString').val(thisValue); setTimeout("$('#suggestions').hide();", 200); } </script> <body> <div> <form> <div> Type your county: <br /> <input type="text" size="30" value="" id="inputString" onkeyup="lookup(this.value);" onblur="fill();" /> </div> <div class="suggestionsBox" id="suggestions" style="display: none;"> <img src="upArrow.png" style="position: relative; top: -12px; left: 30px;" alt="upArrow" /> <div class="suggestionList" id="autoSuggestionsList"> </div> </div> </form> </div> </body> the other code is this -- <?php $db = new mysqli('localhost', 'root' ,'', 'countries'); if(!$db) { echo 'ERROR: Could not connect to the database.'; } else { if(isset($_POST['queryString'])) { $queryString = $db->real_escape_string($_POST['queryString']); if(strlen($queryString) >0) { $query = $db->query("SELECT value FROM countries WHERE value LIKE '$queryString%' LIMIT 10"); if($query) { while ($result = $query ->fetch_object()) { echo '<li onClick="fill(\''.$result->value.'\');">'.$result->value.'</li>'; } } else { echo 'ERROR: There was a problem with the query.'; } } else { } } else { echo 'There should be no direct access to this script!'; } } ?> when i input a letter or phrase on the search bar the other code pops on it. Similar TutorialsI have been working on my local machine and haven't had any errors. I just deployed my site live and I'm getting a database error in my auto-complete text box. Any help would be much appreciated! I'm thinking there may be an error in my the way I'm naming the mysql connect names, but the fact that database data is being populated is confusing me. Wondering if something is wrong with the code? Thanks for the help in advance! These are the errors: Warning: mysql_real_escape_string() [function.mysql-real-escape-string]: A link to the server could not be established in /home/content/99/7862599/html/gadgetabulous/Database/filename.php on line 3 Warning: mysql_real_escape_string() [function.mysql-real-escape-string]: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) in /home/content/99/7862599/html/gadgetabulous/Database/filename.php on line 3 (here is a link if you want to see the error: http://gadgetabulous.com/cellphoneform.php(just type "iphone" in the search box and the error will appear)) Here is my db file: Code: [Select] <?php $q=$_GET['q']; $my_data=mysql_real_escape_string($q); $mysqli=mysqli_connect('host','root','password','dbname') or die("Database Error"); $sql="SELECT name FROM cell_brands WHERE name LIKE '%$my_data%' ORDER BY name"; $result = mysqli_query($mysqli,$sql) or die(mysqli_error()); if($result) { while($row=mysqli_fetch_array($result)) { echo $row['name']."\n"; } } mysql_close($mysqli); ?> Thank you in advance for the help! Not sure if I'm trying to achieve something totally crazy here, or if this is something pretty standard. Didn't have much luck with searching as I'm not fully down with all the terms. (A) I have one site providing an RSS feed. (B) I have one site I want to search, once for each of the items in the feed A. (C) I want the results of the search in (B) to be displayed on page (C). So for example, the feed on (A) says; apples bananas oranges cheese I want site (B) to search for each of those terms (by passing the item in the feed (A) to the ?search= part of the URL of that page) and then show the results from THAT search on page C. Bit of a complex one, let me know if you need me to clarify. Thanks for any help! Hi guys, We have an independent billing system that we use to track payments. I want to write a PHP script to automatically post a payment to the billing system. I went into the billing system, hit "View source" and got the link + required variables that will allow me to simulate entering a payment. The problem is that it's asking me to enter my credentials everytime I try to simulate the payment. Is a module or something that will automatically enter my credentials in this HTTPS site? Hey there, wondering if anyone knows what this topic will be about okay lets start: I have a search function on my site. Basically I do this: Code: [Select] if $_POST -> redirect ?search=$_POST if $_GET['search'] - > sql_query($search); Of course I am working with functions like mysql_real_escape_string - addslashes - htmlspecialchars , but I have the following problem: when redirecting chars like & % ? ! kill my $_GET var. Which function solves this? My solution: I convert every char in $_POST into an ascii code -> redirect ?search=$ascii_codes convert back into $string and do safe search. Hi I have a custom built website with 40 pages or so that I am working on. Its all PHP based. However it is not on a CMS, it was a static HTML site converted into php with a bunch of include files etc now. I am keen to add a search facility, however I have no idea how to go about this. I know there are 3rd party paid offerings from Google, but I was wondering if anyone can advise me if its easy to setup without having to pay a 3rd party? Any advice is greatly appreciated. hi guys, i just finished highschool starting to do webdesign at uni, and for one of my major project i want to make a search engine as simple as google that searches for example 10 websites and with the keyword given it brings out the results. im doing a website on jetski sales results so if someone want to buy a jetski they come to this website and just choose the choose one from those 10 website without going to them individually. so it brings out all search resuts in a nice results format, and when you click on each results it take you to the website but i wanna be able to show their photo and price so just like brings their results into your site but combing 10 website results. and i need to have an advance search option where they can search year price age of jetski, and all these variables are also in the 10 websites that im getting the results from. i have been doing some searching and i cant get my head around i need some help LOL i dont wanna fail... cheers guys Hi guys, I'm working on a project that handles a lot of inserts into a database and uploads files to FTP. Lets say this is the order: - Step 1: Insert row into database - Step 2: Upload files to FTP - Step 3: Email user to confirm complete If the user closes the browser soon after Step 1 has complete Step 2 and 3 will not run. I would prefer if all 3 steps were complete or none at all. What can I do? Thanks in advance. //php code <?php include_once('con.php'); if(!empty($_GET['search'])) { $search = $connect->prepare('SELECT * FROM posts WHERE title LIKE :search'); $search->bindValue(':search', '%'.$_GET['search'].'%', PDO::PARAM_STR); $search->execute(); ?> <?php while($row = $search->fetch()) {?> <li class="result" onClick="searchValue('<?php echo $row['title'];?>')"><?php echo $row['title'];?></li> <?php } ?> <?php } ?> //ajax $('#inputsch').keyup(function(){ $.ajax({ type: 'GET', url: 'fetch.php', data:'search='+$(this).val(), success: function(data){ $('#box').show(); $('#box').html(data); } }); }); }); function searchValue(val) { $('#inputsch').val(val); $('#box').hide(); } //search box <form action="search.php"> <input id="inputsch" type="text" name="search" placeholder="search..." autocomplete="off" autofocus> <button type="submit" value="search" >search</button> </form> <div id="box"></div> //the problem here is when i click the result is only added to input, but i want it to autosubmit
So a project I have simply to learn how it is done is to make an auto updating sitemap with a auto submitter. I have been doing a little research on sitemaps but haven't found much in the way of a tutorial or white paper or similar, anyway I was wondering if I am on the right track or not. What I was thinking for the auto-updating sitemap is since site maps are XML, when an article is published using my custom CMS/Blogging system, I make it rewrite the sitemap appending the new URL that will be generated. Then for the auto-submit, I can either make it a cron job or just manual press, but it would go though a for list of URLs, replacing the end part with my site map url. I think that is how it would be done. If you have a better idea, or can point out an article so I can understand a lot more with sitemaps, I will appreciate it, I am trying to learn as much as possible, I have gone to the offical website (sitemaps.org) but it doesn't have what I am looking for. Thanks, James Hi, Basically I just downloaded wamp and got php and mysql etc. I created a database for my "new social network to-be site" which I am trying to develop.. now I want to create a registration page and am trying to follow a guide on another website.. it lets you download a zip with all the php files required. So now, I am totally confused. Here is the guide: http://www.html-form-guide.com/php-form/php-registration-form.html But I dont know what to do with any file or where to put it.. any basic help.. Just to confirm I want to make a login/registration/user database type thing Browser HTTP client makes a request to a HTTP web server which makes a HTTP cURL request to a HTTP REST API which initiates a ReactPHP socket client to make a request to a socket server, and the socket server script eventually execute the following method: public function executeSpecificRequestCommand(array $data):bool { $status = $this->doSomething($data); return $status; //{success: $status} will be returned to the socket client } All is good until doSomething() takes a lot of time and results in a cURL error between the HTTP web server and HTTP REST API. For this particular case, the task isn't meant to provide immediate feedback to the user, but to do some work and update the database, and as such, my desire is to return true status and then perform the work instead of extending the cURL timeout. One option is to ran some process in the background and return status, but I don't think doing so is really right. Using a queue seems excessive as I am already decoupled via the socket. As such, I will probably just add some logic between the initial $string->on('data') and this executeSpecificRequestCommand() method to determine whether the success message should be returned before or after the method is complete. Before doing so, however, I would like to know if there is a more appropriate approach to this scenario. It appears that maybe a child process or a deferred might be appropriate, but am not sure whether I am going down the wrong path. Hi. I'm currently taking a class in PhP and I'm having issues getting my code to work. I "borrowed" part of the code from elsewhere (but I fully understand each line - which is really the point of learning) I'm hoping a second set of eyes might help on what's wrong: I'm running Wamp Server v2.0 on my local PC to test the scripts... I'm sure I'm probably going to have more then just this error with the script, but it's hard to move forward when you're stuck spinning your wheels. Any help would be greatly appreciated... and any suggestions as to a better way to approach this would be welcome as well. I am here to learn after all Here's the error I'm getting: Notice: Undefined variable: fname in C:\Web Server\wamp\www\daystoxmas.php on line 8 Please return to the main page and enter your First Name.
