I'm new to php and was wondering how I would be able to do the following: -I have a search page that allows someone to search for a particular user in the database -In the results, I want to have a <a href> link to another page which will run a sql query based on which user's link was clicked and list their posts. So right now I have been trying this code to build that href link: Code: [Select] echo '<td><a href="viewuser.php?username='.urlencode($row['username']).'>View user</a></td>'; However on the following page it is unable to retrieve the 'username' field. ok so I just want to get the username into the url after the button is clicked Code: [Select] <?php $val = 123; ?> <a href="index.php>Button</a> How do I get the href to be Code: [Select] index.php?user=123 all help greatly appreciated. thanks How can I set a variable when <a href="#">Link</a> is clicked? for example to set $variableX as integer of 1? Hello I have a website that I am trying to upgrade so that all the data can be placed into a MySql database. I know what I need but I do not know if it is possible with PHP and MySql. I need to insert into a Href link a variable so that when the link is clicked it would initiate a MySql search for data. The variable would contain the Key id of the person whose name was clicked. This is very difficult to explain so a visit to the static website may help understand what I am trying to achieve, www.westonheritage.co.uk If you go to the second page by clicking the key then click on any of the surnames listed. I have the database setup on localhost and can get out the data I require. Kind regards This topic has been moved to Ajax Help. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=308673.0 Hello Everyone, I'm using PHP with MySQL. One of the fields in the database is website. The code I'm using is as follows: variable: $web=mysql_result($result,$i,"web"); html/php code: <td><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><a href="<? echo "$web"; ?>">Website</a></font></td> What it should do is have the clickable word Website with the correct url from the database. Instead it's repeating the website the page is on. For example it's doing this: http://mywebsite/www.enteredwebsite.com Any help is appreciated. This works: Code: [Select] form action="http://localhost/mysite/css/screen.css" method="post"> This does not work: Code: [Select] <?php $link_1 = "http://localhost/mysite/css/screen.css" ; $link_2 = '"' . "http://localhost/mysite/css/screen.css" .'"' ; ?> <form action=<?php echo $link_1;?> method="post"> <form action=<?php echo $link_2;?> method="post"> Why do neither of the PHP variables work? Thanks! I have a php page that is trying to pass a variable like this: echo "<tr><td bgcolor='white'>" . $company_id . "</td><td bgcolor='white'><a href='companyusers.php?name=" . $company_name . "'>" . $company_name . "</a></td><td bgcolor='white'>" . $company_email . "</td><td bgcolor='white'>" . $company_status . "</td></tr>"; Then when some one clicks on that link they variable with it's value should go with the url and I'm trying to assign a variable like this: $company_name = $_POST['name']; It is not working!!! I get that "Notice: Undefined index: name in 'directory of page' on line 100" Can someone help please? Hi guys; I've managed to find my way into something of a maze. <td> <a href="'Details/21/index.php'"?id= . $id .'>" . $row['id'] . "</a> </td> I'm looking at this line in the code. I realise it's currently in the wrong syntax but I'm just trying multiple different variations. At the moment I'm actually just trying to make it go to a static link but my real goal is to - get it to pick up the id number, of the id row I click, and concatenate that with the rest of my address string. Then use that as the href. Something like this: - "'Details/' + $id + '/index.php'" It's really confusing me though inside this loop and for some reason the id number is being picked up as an int, by the looks of things. It's getting above my level of understanding. Any chance one of you masters would through a n00b a lifeline?

I have a class which loads language files and adds the content(which is an array) into a phrases array. It's performed perfectly when i included common_lang.php and login_lang.php. However when i include common_lang.php and profiles_lang.php something weird happens. I have a blank space at the top of the profile pages. And firebug reports that the content of <head> is now empty and its shifted all of it to the <body>. Like i say this only happens when including profiles_lang.php but works with other files like login_lang.php. The content of each language file is the same apart from the data in the array. $l = array( 'USERNAME' => 'Username', ); this is the language class which is being called in profiles.php like Asf_Language::loadFile('profiles'); The same call is used in other pages replacing 'profiles' with the name of the language file to call. <?php /* ASF A Simple Forum * (c) ASF A Simple Forum 2010 - 2011 * * @licence http://www.asimpleforum.co.uk/licence * * $page includes/languageClass.php * $author Carl Markham * $created 14/06/2011 */ class Asf_Language { public static $lang; public static $phrases = array(); public static $loaded_langs = array(); public function __construct($default) { $this->setLang($default); self::loadFile('common'); } public static function setLang($lang) { self::$lang = $lang; } public static function getLang() { return $lang; } public static function loadFile($file) { $include = dirname(dirname(dirname(__FILE__))).'/languages/'.self::$lang.'/'.$file.'_lang.php'; if(file_exists($include)) { include($include); self::$loaded_langs[] = $file; foreach($l as $key => $val) { self::$phrases[$key] = $val; } } else { echo 'File '.$include.' does not exist'; } return; } public static function getLoadedLanguages() { return implode(', ',self::$loaded_langs); } } Anyone have any ideas why the head is being emptied when this file is being included? hi i want to include session so that attendance.php can't be acess directly.. Hello everyone, This is a fairly simple question, but the explanation of the question isn't... I'll do my best. I have a site where my folders/sub-folders/files are arranged similar to this: _ Root Folder -| Root-IncludeFile1.php | Root-IncludeFile2.php | _ | Sub-Folder 1 -| Sub1-File1.php | |_Sub1-File2.php | _ | Sub-Folder 2 -| Sub2-File1.php | |_Sub2-File2.php | _ |_Sub-Folder 3 -| Sub3-IncludeFile1.php |_Sub3-IncludeFile2.php Hopefully that makes sense to everyone. Anyway, I know that to include a file that is in the root folder in file in a sub-folder, I can do this - include("../includefile1.php"); -but I'm trying to include a file that is in a sub folder in a file that is in another sub-folder. For example, I'm trying to include "Sub3-IncludeFile1.php" in "Sub-File1.php" I'm lost on this because I can't get it to work. I'm not getting any error messages except to say that the variables located in the file that should be included are not found. I've tried to do this: include("http://www.mysite.com/Sub-Folder3/Sub3-IncludeFile1.php"); and it doesn't work. Can someone please point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance for your help. Hey all. I have a form with inputs "menuitem[]" array. Upon no user input to one of these fields I want to set a variable error and include the form generation page. Is my following code a feasible way to do this? foreach($_POST['menuitem'] as $value) { if(!isset($value) || $value == "") { $emptyvalue = TRUE; } } if ($emptyvalue) { $erroralert = "You must fill in all the form fields! Please try again!"; include "views/addmenus.php"; exit(); } If works but just a bit unsure about it. Cheers! |
