PHP - Set A Variable Depending On The Out Of The Query.
i have a small search profile search and need to set $getuname variable to users username
if((trim($country) !== ''&&($state) !== ''&&($city) !== '')){ $data = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM users WHERE users.state='$state' AND users.country='$Country' AND users.city='$city' ORDER BY RAND() DESC LIMIT 1 "); Echo "Country city state search"; $getuname = mysql_real_escape_string($_GET['username']); am i meant to use the get or is that only for forms? Similar TutorialsHi ive been stuck for a while now and i just cant get my head around it so if you could help i'd be well chuffed. I'm trying to update multple rows in a table depending upon the results of another. I have a form that enables me to update a table called fleet. Another table called ships is realted to the fleet table as each ship is in a fleet: fleet ----- Fleetname* Location Detected ships ------ ShipID* Fleetname * Shipname The particular fleet i am editing is parsed as a url parameter. I made a query to search for all the ships that are in the fleet i am editing: Code: [Select] $colname_ShipsInfleet = "-1"; if (isset($_GET['recordID'])) { $colname_ShipsInfleet = (get_magic_quotes_gpc()) ? $_GET['recordID'] : addslashes($_GET['recordID']); } mysql_select_db($database_swb, $swb); $query_ShipsInfleet = sprintf("SELECT * FROM ships WHERE FleetName = %s", GetSQLValueString($colname_ShipsInfleet, "text")); $ShipsInfleet = mysql_query($query_ShipsInfleet, $swb) or die(mysql_error()); $row_ShipsInfleet = mysql_fetch_assoc($ShipsInfleet); $totalRows_ShipsInfleet = mysql_num_rows($ShipsInfleet); It searched the ships WHERE the FleetName (which is the primary key of the fleet table) is parsed as a url parameter. The appropriate ship records that are generated i want to use so a field can be updated. For example im updating a fleet record and and setting the location (Planet Name) to a different value. I want the Ship records that are of that particular fleet to update a field (PlanetName) in ship table when the fleet table is updated. Code: [Select] if ((isset($_POST["MM_update"])) && ($_POST["MM_update"] == "form1")) { $updateSQL = sprintf("UPDATE ships WHERE ShipID = $row_ShipsInfleet['ShipID'] SET PlanetName=%s", GetSQLValueString($_POST['select'], "text")); mysql_select_db($database_swb, $swb); $Result1 = mysql_query($updateSQL, $swb) or die(mysql_error()); $updateSQL = sprintf("UPDATE fleet SET PlanetName=%s, Detected=%s, Faction=%s WHERE FleetName=%s", GetSQLValueString($_POST['select'], "text"), GetSQLValueString(isset($_POST['checkbox']) ? "true" : "", "defined","1","0"), GetSQLValueString($_POST['hiddenField2'], "int"), GetSQLValueString($_POST['hiddenField'], "text")); mysql_select_db($database_swb, $swb); $Result1 = mysql_query($updateSQL, $swb) or die(mysql_error()); I'm really not sure how to proceed here so please if you can help me out that would be ace. Thank You Hello there, i`m trying to figure out a way to reorder a query string depending on variables. So the url would have the following query: /result/index.php?page=Weissenfels+Clack+and+Go&tyre=155_70_12&option1=30_02&option2=43_02&v_t=car&options=2 It should depend what page they come from if the page is equal to option2 then option1 is op1 and option2 is op2 To make it myself easier i have converted some variables On every first two digits ie 43 from the 43_02 can have 13 different ending digits, ie _03 or _04 or _05 etc... So i have converted all 43_02 43_03 etc to one variable ie $chain1 or $chain2 which holds in this case 43 a 43 is equal to Weissenfels+Clack+and+Go in the index page i have included the following process. At the moment i can only use php coding, unfortunately no mysql atm thank you in advance. Code: [Select] <?php $tyre = $_GET['tyre']; // finds the tyre size $op1 = $_GET['option1']; // finds the first chain size if applicable $op2 = $_GET['option2']; // finds the second chain size if applicable $op3 = $_GET['option3']; // finds the third chain size if applicable $op4 = $_GET['option4']; // finds the fourth chain size if applicable $op5 = $_GET['option5']; // finds the fith chain size if applicable $op6 = $_GET['option6']; // finds the sixth chain size if applicable $op7 = $_GET['option7']; // finds the seventh chain size if applicable $op8 = $_GET['option8']; // finds the eighth chain size if applicable $options = $_GET['options']; $page = $_GET['page']; $error = $_GET['info']; $vehicle_type = $_GET['v_t']; // finds the vehicle type $b = "Weissenfels+WeissTech+Tecna"; $c = "Weissenfels+Clack+and+Go"; if (($op1 == "30_02") || ($op1 == "30_03")) { $chain1 = "m30"; } elseif (($op2 == "43_02") || ($op2 == "43_03")) { $chain2 = "m43"; } else echo "error"; switch ($page) { case (($page == $c) && ($chain1 == "m43")); $option1 = $op1; $option2 = $op2; break; case (($page == $c) && ($chain2 == "m43")); $option1 = $op2; $option2 = $op1; break; default; $option1 = $op1; $option2 = $op2; break; } if ($options=="1") // calculates the possible combination { // outputs the results include 'options_1.php'; // type the amount of possible chains in here ie options_3 options_4 etc } elseif ($options=="2") { // outputs the results include 'options_2.php'; // type the amount of possible chains in here ie options_3 options_4 etc } elseif ($options=="3") { // outputs the results include 'options_3.php'; // type the amount of possible chains in here ie options_3 options_4 etc } elseif ($options=="4") { // outputs the results include 'options_4.php'; // type the amount of possible chains in here ie options_3 options_4 etc } elseif ($options=="5") { // outputs the results include 'options_5.php'; // type the amount of possible chains in here ie options_3 options_4 etc } elseif ($options=="6") { // outputs the results include 'options_6.php'; // type the amount of possible chains in here ie options_3 options_4 etc } elseif ($options=="7") { // outputs the results include 'options_7.php'; // type the amount of possible chains in here ie options_3 options_4 etc } elseif ($options=="8") { // outputs the results include 'options_8.php'; // type the amount of possible chains in here ie options_3 options_4 etc } else echo "there is an error on process_action2"; ?> how can i set the color of a table background depending on what a variable is in my database? I currently have a table which echos data from my database, but i want the background too be a color depending on the value of a variable called 'status' (there are 3 variations) the variations are; order placed, processing and complete so for example: Code: [Select] if (status == placed) { background would be red } Code: [Select] if (status == processing) { background would be orange } Code: [Select] if (status == complete) { background would be green } appreciate any help. thank you. Heres what i got... function printLB1 (){ $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM leaderboards ORDER BY CollegeFootballPoints DESC"); while ($row = mysql_fetch_object($result)) { $leaderboard[] = $row->Username; $leaderboardPoints[] = $row->CollegeFootballPoints; } $num = mysql_num_rows($reault); //I know from here to ................... needs to be in a var or echo or something. <tr> <td>1.</td> //This will auto increment too like i++ but i cna do that myself! <td>echo $leaderboard;</td> <td>echo $leaderboardPoints;</td> </tr> //Here......................................................... } I need to pull a table row per user. But i want to somehow do it once in a function and then ill echo the function into a table after the php stuff is done. Like i want to pull every a table row per user in the function. then display the function below that way i don't have to write a whole extra query and table row per person. If you understand please help if not please let me know where i can explain more. Thanks I have this variable that I need to get into my database and I just can't think through it. Here is the code. $sql = "INSERT INTO names (id, name, color, uploaddate) VALUE (NULL,'$master[2]['dbid']','$color','$time')"; I know I need to escape those quotes around dbid somehow, but I can't seam to get it figured out. If I have to I will set it = to a different variable, but I don't want to do it that way if I don't have to $id = '9'; $MyQuery = "SELECT * FROM bookings WHERE id = '$id'"; $retrieve = mysql_query($MyQuery) or die(mysql_error()); if(mysql_num_rows($retrieve) != 0): $row = mysql_fetch_assoc($retrieve); else: echo 'No Information'; endif; echo 'Full Name: ' . ($row['fullname']) . '<br><br>'; The above code is working for me however when I change it to what I do... $id = ($row['id']); It tells me I have an undefined row variable... What will fix this? Thanks in advance... okay i have table named ZAMJENE with 2 rows only row that i need to setup is named id_zamjena and have values 15 and 16 when i do echo on page it work great but when i press button i get only 16 for both entries full cde is too long so i paste only important parts $query_zamjene = mysql_query ("SELECT * FROM zamjene WHERE id_user_1='$moj_id' AND zamjenjeno='0' ORDER BY id_event_1"); echo "<form method='post' action='event_zamjenjen.php'>"; while ($rows = mysql_fetch_array($query_zamjene)) { $id_zamjena = $rows['id_zamjena']; $id_event_1 = $rows['id_event_1']; $id_event_2 = $rows['id_event_2']; $id_user_2 = $rows['id_user_2']; echo "$id_zamjena"; // THIS ROW WORKS CORRECTLY echo "<input name='id_zamjena' type='hidden' value=$id_zamjena>"; // output of this is always 16 echo "<input name='response' type='submit' value='Prihvati zamjenu' /> <input name='response' type='submit' value='Odbaci zamjenu' /> <br>"; } echo"</form>"; Can anyone point out how to write a MySQL query with a PHP variable in the WHERE clause. I've tried {} {'xx'} and () and it still doesn't work. Here is the code <?php ini_set('display_errors',1); error_reporting(E_ALL|E_STRICT); include ("include/connect.php"); include ("include/session.php"); $username = $session->userinfo['username']; $result = mysql_query("SELECT email FROM customer WHERE user = {'$username'} "); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { $custemail = $row['email']; } echo "Session username: " . $username . Hi, In some cases I need to execute a default query , so I am storing the SELECT statement in a variable like this and executing it: Code: [Select] $default_query="SELECT * from user where userid='$userid'"; $user_query=mysql_query($default_query); The above code returns an empty results. But if I execute it without the variable it works fine. Code: [Select] $user_query=mysql_query("SELECT * from user where userid='$userid'"); Am I syntatically wrong somewhere? Hi, My issue here is that I cant get my query string variables to ONLY feed into if/else statement on my secondary page. I include my secondary page (fine.php) from my index page. My query string variables keep being fed back into my original if/ese statement on index.php. here is the if/else on index.php (these links work fine): <?php if($_SERVER['QUERY_STRING']=='/index.php' || $_SERVER['QUERY_STRING']=='') { include 'port.php'; } elseif (isset($_GET['pos'])){ include 'pos.php'; } elseif (isset($_GET['web'])){ include 'web.php'; } elseif (isset($_GET['fine'])){ include 'fine.php'; } else {include '404.php';} here is the if/else on my secondary page (fine.php). These links are supposed to alert the if/else in the next table cell. However, they instead alert the if/else in index.php. <td><br/> <a href="?backset"><img src="fine/thumbs/x-backset.jpg" border="0"></a><br/><br/> <a href="?backside"><img src="fine/thumbs/x-backside.jpg" border="0"></a><br/><br/> <a href="?bannerprint"><img src="fine/thumbs/x-bannerprint.jpg" border="0"></a><br/><br/> <a href="?chopu"><img src="fine/thumbs/x-chopu.jpg" border="0"></a><br/><br/> </td> <td><br/> <div id="DivPiece" align="left"> <?PHP if (isset($_GET['backset'])){ include 'fine/backset.php'; } elseif (isset($_GET['backside'])){ include 'fine/backside.php'; } elseif (isset($_GET['bannerprint'])){ include 'fine/bannerprint.php'; } elseif (isset($_GET['chopu'])){ include 'fine/chopu.php'; } ?> </div> </td> How can I get the links on the secondary page to only alert the if/else statement on that page, and BLOCK the if/else statement on index.php from seeing them? I still want to use the query string though. Thanks! [/quote] hello all! my query, when executed, generates an error i don't understand. i've seen similar entries, but i couldn't find one that related to this particular problem. either that, or i'm a retard and didn't see it. apologies if that's the case. here's the error: --> Database Query Failed: Unknown column 'client_id' in 'where clause' <-- i triple checked the database table and, YUP, the column is correctly named "client_id" and it is an INT column, so it doesn't need to be encapsulated with single quotes. here's the code that makes it happen: <CODE> $clientID = $_SESSION['clientID']; $query = "SELECT * "; $query .= "FROM client_data "; $query .= "WHERE client_id = {$clientID} "; $query .= "LIMIT 1"; $results = mysql_query($query); </CODE> what. the. heck. thanks in advance gang. WR! I am working on a room availability calendar that has links for each day. When you click on a link it passes the day month and year in the URL to another page like this: echo "<td class=\"today\"> <a href=\"status.php?month=$month&day=$day_num&year=$year\">$day_num</a> </td>\n"; I can see that the correct information is being passed through the URL like this: Code: [Select] .../status.php?month=12&day=9&year=2010 Then the information is supposed to be passed to the MySQL query, but here is my question: How do I do this? I have a DB table set up, but the query is currently returning a blank page. Here is my current query: // connects to server and selects database. include ("../includes/dbconnect.inc.php"); // table name $table_name = "availability"; // query database for events $result = mysql_query ("SELECT id FROM $table_name WHERE month=$month AND year=$year AND day=$day_num LIMIT 1") or die(); if (mysql_num_rows($result) > 0 ) { while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { extract($row); echo "<h1>Current availability for ".$row['month'] .
