PHP - Format Number Into Feet And Inches
hi
I have the following value Code: [Select] <?php $meters = '5.8654'; and I want to format this number into a format that looks like 5' 8" is this possible? thanks Similar Tutorialshi, I have a function that calculates sales tax and it should put 2 numbers after the decimal point but it 's putting 5 numbers after the decimal point. Can someone help me figure out why? Code: [Select] function TotalSalesTax($price) { $salesTax = .07; $TotalSalesTax = $price * $salesTax; number_format($TotalSalesTax, 2); return $TotalSalesTax; } In php number format function works like.... number_format("1000000",2); // 1,000,000.00 is there a way to format numbers like... 10,00,00,000 (from right. No decimal. First comma after 3 digits and then commas after every 2 digits) Hi fellas, Can anyone show me why my script is still rounding up / down? printf ("<tr> %s Avg gun Ahit %%</td> %s %.2f %%</td></tr>\n",$tdo,$tdor,number_format($ahit/$fired*100, 3, '.', '')); Do I have a syntax error as I cannot get my math equation to display more than 2 decimal places even though it's set to 3? Any help or advice would be really great. Hi All, I am not quite sure if this is possible - but here goes. I have a webpage hit counter that uses PHP and saves the counter totals in .txt files. I have gotten the code to print out the comma (thousand separator) fine on the page, however, I would like to have that comma in the text file also. I display the counters on separate pages using <?php include("file.txt");?> and the counter shows up as "12345" when I'd like it to read the text as "12,345". Basically, I just want that comma written to the actual text file if possible so that when it's included on a web page, it displays the thousands separator. Any help would be great. Thank You! Here is a portion of my code: Code: [Select] /* Turn error notices off */ error_reporting(E_ALL ^ E_NOTICE); /* Get page and log file names */ $page = input($_GET['page']) or die('ERROR: Missing page ID'); $logfile = 'logs/' . $page . '.txt'; /* Does the log exist? */ if (file_exists($logfile)) { /* Get current count */ $count = intval(trim(file_get_contents($logfile))) or $count = 0; $cname = 'tcount_unique_'.$page; if ($count_unique==0 || !isset($_COOKIE[$cname])) { /* Increase the count by 1 */ $count = $count + 1; $fp = @fopen($logfile,'w+') or die('ERROR: Can\'t write to the log file ('.$logfile.'), please make sure this file exists and is CHMOD to 666 (rw-rw-rw-)!'); flock($fp, LOCK_EX); fputs($fp, $count); flock($fp, LOCK_UN); fclose($fp); /* Print the Cookie and P3P compact privacy policy */ header('P3P: CP="NOI NID"'); setcookie($cname, 1, time()+60*60*$unique_hours); } /* Is zero-padding enabled? */ if ($min_digits > 0) { $count = sprintf('%0'.$min_digits.'s',$count); } /* Print out Javascript code and exit */ echo "document.write('".number_format($count)."');"; exit(); } else { die('ERROR: Invalid log file!'); } I'm getting the dreaded " Invalid parameter number: number of bound variables does not match number of tokens" error and I've looked at this for days. Here is what my table looks like:
| id | int(4) | NO | PRI | NULL | auto_increment | | user_id | int(4) | NO | | NULL | | | recipient | varchar(30) | NO | | NULL | | | subject | varchar(25) | YES | | NULL | | | cc_email | varchar(30) | YES | | NULL | | | reply | varchar(20) | YES | | NULL | | | location | varchar(50) | YES | | NULL | | | stationery | varchar(40) | YES | | NULL | | | ink_color | varchar(12) | YES | | NULL | | | fontchosen | varchar(30) | YES | | NULL | | | message | varchar(500) | NO | | NULL | | | attachment | varchar(40) | YES | | NULL | | | messageDate | datetime | YES | | NULL |Here are my params: $params = array( ':user_id' => $userid, ':recipient' => $this->message_vars['recipient'], ':subject' => $this->message_vars['subject'], ':cc_email' => $this->message_vars['cc_email'], ':reply' => $this->message_vars['reply'], ':location' => $this->message_vars['location'], ':stationery' => $this->message_vars['stationery'], ':ink_color' => $this->message_vars['ink_color'], ':fontchosen' => $this->message_vars['fontchosen'], ':message' => $messageInput, ':attachment' => $this->message_vars['attachment'], ':messageDate' => $date );Here is my sql: $sql = "INSERT INTO messages (user_id,recipient, subject, cc_email, reply, location,stationery, ink_color, fontchosen, message,attachment) VALUES( $userid, :recipient, :subject, :cc_email, :reply, :location, :stationery, :ink_color, :fontchosen, $messageInput, :attachment, $date);"; And lastly, here is how I am calling it: $dbh = parent::$dbh; $dbh->setAttribute(PDO::ATTR_ERRMODE, PDO::ERRMODE_WARNING); if (empty($dbh)) return false; $stmt = $dbh->prepare($sql); $stmt->execute($params) or die(print_r($stmt->errorInfo(), true)); if (!$stmt) { print_r($dbh->errorInfo()); }I know my userid is valid and and the date is set above (I've echo'd these out to make sure). Since the id is auto_increment, I do not put that in my sql (though I've tried that too), nor in my params (tried that too). What am I missing? I feel certain it is something small, but I have spent days checking commas, semi-colons and spelling. Can anyone see what I'm doing wrong?
Hello All, function convertTimeFormat($time12Hour) { // Initialized required variable to an empty string. $time24Hour = ""; // Used explode() function to break the string into an array and stored its value in $Split variable. $Split = explode(":",$time12Hour); // print_r(explode (":", $time12Hour)); => Array ( [0] => 09 [1] => 50 [2] => 08AM ) // Retrieved only "hour" from the array and stored in $Hour variable. $Hour = $Split[0]; $Split[2] = substr($Split[2],0,2); // Used stripos() function to find the position of the first occurrence of a string inside another string. if($Hour == '12' && strpos($time12Hour,"AM")!== FALSE) { // Code here } elseif(strpos($time12Hour,"PM")!== FALSE && $Hour != "12") { // code here } return $time24Hour; } $time12Hour = "09:50:08AM"; $result = convertTimeFormat($time12Hour); print_r($result); /* Input : "09:50:08AM"; Output : "21:50:08PM"; */
Hi all, I am currently making a website that has e-custom functions and a back end for the client. I want them to be able to upload images - but they need to be transparent. I do not want to leave this in the hands of the client, so I am looking at ways of using the GD library to make the change I got no issue with the png/gif type for upload/resize function since this type already transparent background but my major problems is how to deal with jpeg/jpg image type which is their background was not a transparent...so is it possible I can change/ convert to png/gif type upon successful of uploading image...so the new final image will be png/gif type with transparent background...is it doable...I am not even sure it is possible...? Thanks for any help.. Hello,

Edited by danchi, 17 October 2014 - 10:25 AM. I need to display a number(the number is retrieved from the db) in the form input field such that only the last 4 digits is visbile, the remaining can be masked as * or X or whatever is applicable. I know the last 4 can be obtained as follows: Code: [Select] $number=substr($number,-4,4); But when i hit the submit button the form validates the input field and checks if the number is a valid number of a specific format. Therefore when I click on the submit button then I should still be able to unmask the masked numbers or do something similar that would help me validate the whole number. Code: [Select] <input type="text" name="no" value="<?php if(!empty($number)){ echo $number;} ?>"> Hey I have a string that looks like the following: Quote top-php-tutorials-2.html I have a script that cycles through each page. The 2 in the quote above is the page number. How can I extract the number between the - and the .html and replace it with another number? I've tried Code: [Select] substr($engine->selectedcaturl, 0,-6).$v.".html"But then I realised this only works for numbers that are 1 digit long Any input would be appreciated hello, i have a start time and an end time (no dates). the following works great, except for when the start time is at night, and the end time is in the morning. im thinking if i can do an if the number is negative, add 24, that it will resolve my issue. any ideas? Typically I would echo each variable inside php tags when displaying outside of a loop but what would you recommend for a while loop while more than say 5 variables to display? If I need it to display 2011-10-18. How do it go about coding it? how should this be formated right now it's just outputting .long2ip($ip) '$playerlog admin logged into .long2ip($ip)' WHERE username='$player'") death.announcement.contact.php The above file format is correct? thank you The raw output is this.. full example: http://instant.simplyhired.com/a/jobs/xml-v1/l-06238/q-engineer/ws-100/si-0/fdb-21/sb-rd/mi-10 I can generally get the value of this stuff.. like if I wanted the "jt" line I can get ENGINEER, and the rest of the data.. what i am having trouble with is getting the attribute (i think thats the right term for this with XML). For example the "src" line it as an attribute "url=" I am trying to figure out how to get that value.. Below is a sample of the raw.. and below that is the code I am working with to load up the XML. I know theres simple_xml but in my case thats not an option so I am working on slightly custom work (as little as it is).
