PHP - Distinct Lookup And Display
I am getting a little frustrated, and I need some help. I've working on this all day (I am new... otherwise I'd fly through it). This is a simple problem I just can't seem to put a ' in the right spot or something...
Here's the gist. In file myphotos.php is the following: <?PHP include('functions.php'); $link $title = 'Light Graspers Certification'; $linktent = '<div class="titler">Photo Review</div><div class="contentm">'.$data[index].'</div>'; $excess = '<div class="titlerex">Testimonials</div><div class="contentmex">'.$displayoptions.'</div>'; echo getphoto($title, $linktent, $excess); ?> Now my goal is under $displayoptions the following will happen. SELECT DISTINCT name FROM homework WHERE uid='$loggedin' ORDER BY id"; With proper code I should see a distinct list of all the "name" rows. The user clicks on it to be directed to just those rows... etc... Here is was some old code I tried manipulating to get the same result... but I couldn't seem to get it to work. Of course I only need one column in my new code. Any help would be a appreciated. Adam $columns = 5; //change the query to get another field from the database $query = "SELECT DISTINCT city, state FROM church WHERE state='$state' ORDER BY city"; $result = mysql_query($query); $num_rows = mysql_num_rows($result); $rows = ceil($num_rows / $columns); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { $data[] = $row['city']; //store the other field into an array } for($i = 0; $i < $rows; $i++) { { echo "<tr valign=bottom>"; echo "<td bgcolor=#2172A1 colspan=10><img src=img/blank.gif width=1 height=1></td>"; echo "</tr>"; } echo "<TR valign=center>"; for($j = 0; $j < $columns; $j++) { if(isset($data[$i + ($j * $rows)])) { echo "<td class=tabval><b><a href='findnew.php?state=".$state."&city=" . $data[$i + ($j * $rows)] . "'>" . $data[$i + ($j * $rows)] . "</a></b></td>"; } } echo "</TR>"; } echo "<tr valign=bottom>"; echo "<td bgcolor=#2172A1 colspan=10><img src=img/blank.gif width=1 height=8></td>"; echo "</tr>"; echo "$state represents $num_rows3 \n of our $num_rows2 churches\n that we serve. "; } Similar TutorialsHi I have been trying to populate my data from 3 tables and display like this: DATE $acronym1 $acronym2 POSTS 1/9/2011 10 (this is no of posts) 3 POSTS 31/8/2011 20 10 and so on. the threads and user table will be similar as well. I am not able to populate the distinct dates since the dateline contains time as well. So when I try to print out the just dates(without time) , it prints with the dates repeated. it prints something like this: 1/9/2011 1 1/9/2011 1 and so on.. How can populate and print the the date and number of posts in the above format. Here is my complete code below: Code: [Select] <?php error_reporting(-1); //ini_set('display_errors',1); include("db.php"); //$thirty_days_ago = strtotime("-30 days"); $limit = strtotime("-1 month"); $sql=mysql_query(("SELECT * from new_site"),$con) or die(mysql_error()); while($row=mysql_fetch_assoc($sql)) { $include=$row['include']; $forumurl=$row['forumurl']; $url=$row['url']; $acronym=$row['acronym']; include("$include"); //echo $include."<br>"; $configdbname=$config['Database']['dbname']; $configdbconport=$config['MasterServer']['servername'].":".$config['MasterServer']['port']; $configusername=$config['MasterServer']['username']; $configpassword=$config['MasterServer']['password']; $configprefix=$config['Database']['tableprefix']; /* Connect to the required database */ $con2=mysql_connect($configdbconport, $configusername, $configpassword); if (!$con2) { die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); } mysql_select_db($configdbname, $con2); $postdate=mysql_query("SELECT DISTINCT dateline, postid from post WHERE dateline >='$limit' ORDER by dateline DESC") or die(mysql_error()); while($postdate_results=mysql_fetch_assoc($postdate)) { $postdate_record=$postdate_results['dateline']; // echo $postdate."<br>"; $postdate_formatted=date('M dS Y ',$postdate_results['dateline']); $post_count=mysql_query("SELECT * from post WHERE dateline >='$postdate_record'"); while($post_count_results=mysql_fetch_assoc($post_count)) { //$postdate_formatted=date('M dS Y ',$post_dateline_results['dateline']); $posts=mysql_num_rows($post_count) or die(mysql_error()); //echo $acronym.":POSTS:".$posts."<br>"; echo '<table border="1">'; echo "<tr>"; echo "<th>Category</th>"; echo "<th>".$acronym."</th>"; echo "</tr>"; echo "<tr>"; echo "<td>POSTS:DATE:".$postdate_formatted."</td>"; echo "<td>".$posts."</td>"; echo "</tr>"; } $threaddate=mysql_query("SELECT * from thread WHERE dateline >='$limit' ORDER by dateline DESC") or die(mysql_error()); while($threaddate_results=mysql_fetch_assoc($threaddate)) { $threaddate_record=$threaddate_results['dateline']; $threaddate_formatted=date('M dS Y ',$threaddate_results['dateline']); $thread_count=mysql_query("SELECT * from thread WHERE dateline='$threaddate_record'"); while($thread_count_results=mysql_fetch_assoc($thread_count)) { $threads=mysql_num_rows($thread_count) or die(mysql_error()); //echo $acronym.":THREADS:".$threads."<br>"; echo "<tr>"; echo "<td>THREADS:DATE:".$threaddate_formatted."</td>"; echo "<td>".$threads."</td>"; echo "</tr>"; $userdate=mysql_query("SELECT * from user WHERE joindate >='$limit' ORDER by joindate DESC") or die(mysql_error()); while($userdate_results=mysql_fetch_assoc($userdate)) { $userdate_record=$userdate_results['joindate']; $userdate_formatted=date('M dS Y ',$userdate_results['joindate']); $user_count=mysql_query("SELECT * from user WHERE joindate='$userdate_record'"); while($user_count_results=mysql_fetch_assoc($user_count)) { $users=mysql_num_rows($user_count) or die(mysql_error()); //echo $acronym.":USERS REGISTERED:".$users."<br>"; echo "<tr>"; echo "<td>REGISTERED USERS::DATE:".$userdate_formatted."</td>"; echo "<td>".$users."</td>"; echo "</tr>"; } } } } } } echo "</table>"; ?> I am running a search for a specific link on my site in order to make a big change but some of my entries are a little malformed. How do I make this script go to the next record if no match is found. Here are the two pieces of code: $result = mysql_query($query) or die(mysql_error()); while($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($result)){ echo $row['name']; echo "<br />"; //After the page is loaded search for specified links for ($i = 0; $i < $hrefs->length; $i++) { $href = $hrefs->item($i); $url = $href->getAttribute('href'); $purl = substr($url, 30,300); //Here I would like to continue the while loop //Maybe if i could find the value "No entities were found" it would escape it just as well? At the end of the code I would like to continue the while loop if i could find the value "No entities were found" on the page that is missing the link I need. Thanks for the help. Firstly hello - I've not posted on here before! I'm after a bit of advice if possible - I recently upgraded to a new server with RHEL6 and PHP 5.3.10 from a previous server with RHEL4 and PHP 5.2.17. I have some postcode lookup software running that functioned perfectly on our old server, but seems to cause a server 500 error with the updated version of PHP. I cannot downgrade to PHP 5.2.17 so I need to fix the issue or workaround it. A snippet of the code is as follows: Code: [Select] $data = simplexml_load_string(file_get_contents($url)); foreach ($data->Rows->children() as $row) { I have narrowed down the cause of the failure to "children()" - it seems that anything with the curly brackets causes the code to die? As you may guess I'm not a guru with PHP - I just know enough to get by. What do I need to do to get this working? Many thanks in advance. Danny Is there a way, and if so how would I detect the state of the user on my site. Like by using their ip? Thanks! I have been learning php and have put together a simple site to track vehicle faults and repairs, but now i am trying to transfer it to cakephp framework to make it easier to work with. My problem is that i have 4 tables,
the fault and repair
a list of vehicles
a list of symptoms
a list of fault codes.
Each repair can have 3 vehicles, 3 symptoms and 3 codes relating to it so i have lookup table to link the fault/repair id to the symptoms, code and vehicles.
i have setup basic code for the vehicle , symptom and fault code models like this:
public $hasAndBelongsToMany = array( 'Fault' => array( 'className' => 'Fault', 'joinTable' => 'Faults_vehicles', 'foreignKey' => 'vehicle_id', 'associationForeignKey' => 'fault_id' ) ); and this lets me search for any faults in the faults table with a given vehicle ID, and this works fine. My problem is how can i set it up so i can do a search for faults in the Faults table with a given vehicle ID and a given symptom ID that have a matching Fault code ID. I am very new to php and have only just started using cakephp so sorry in advance if this makes no sense at all. thanks for your time j Hi all, I'm currently using Maxminds geoip and geoipcity databases to determine the users country but it struggles to determine if a visitor is from Northern Ireland (it just shows them as United Kingdom). Has anyone got (any) GeoIP to accurately determine Northern Ireland visitors? Thanks How can I stop duplication in the below code? Where do I implement the DISTINCT function? $sql="SELECT * FROM ((resource l inner join resource_skill ln on l.Resource_ID = ln.Resource_ID) inner join skill n on ln.Skill_ID = n.Skill_ID) WHERE First_Name LIKE '%" . $name . "%' OR Last_Name LIKE '%" . $name ."%' OR Skill_Name LIKE '%" . $name ."%'"; //-run the query against the mysql query function $result=mysql_query($sql); //-create while loop and loop through result set while($row=mysql_fetch_array($result)){ $First_Name =$row['First_Name']; $Last_Name=$row['Last_Name']; $Resource_ID=$row['Resource_ID']; //-display the result of the array echo "<ul>\n"; echo "<li>" . "<a href=\"a.php?id=$Resource_ID\">" .$First_Name . " " . $Last_Name . "</a></li>\n"; echo "</ul>"; } } Hi am having a few problems solving this code with select distinct clause. None of what i tryed works. Can anyone help please thanks. this is just some of the query's i tryed $query7 = yasDB_select("SELECT DISTINCT * FROM useronline WHERE id;"); $query7 = yasDB_select("SELECT DISTINCT ip FROM useronline WHERE id;"); $query7 = yasDB_select("SELECT DISTINCT ip FROM useronline WHERE ip;"); $query7 = yasDB_select("SELECT DISTINCT ip,timestamp FROM useronline WHERE id;"); $query7 = yasDB_select("SELECT DISTINCT id,ip,timestamp FROM useronline WHERE id;"); $query7 = yasDB_select("SELECT DISTINCT ip FROM useronline;"); and again but without ";" $query7 = yasDB_select("SELECT DISTINCT * FROM useronline WHERE id"); $query7 = yasDB_select("SELECT DISTINCT ip FROM useronline WHERE id"); $query7 = yasDB_select("SELECT DISTINCT ip FROM useronline WHERE ip"); $query7 = yasDB_select("SELECT DISTINCT ip,timestamp FROM useronline WHERE id"); $query7 = yasDB_select("SELECT DISTINCT id,ip,timestamp FROM useronline WHERE id"); $query7 = yasDB_select("SELECT DISTINCT ip FROM useronline"); this is the code am working on. Code: [Select] $query7 = yasDB_select("SELECT DISTINCT * FROM useronline WHERE id;"); $visitors_online = $query7->fetch_array(MYSQLI_ASSOC); $visitors_online = $query7->num_rows; $query7->close(); visitors online : <?php echo $visitors_online;?><br/> Hello, Hoping someone can help... I am pulling records from a db of cities and state abbrevs. My db has many duplicate city names but i want to echo out only the distinct ones. My query is based on a radius around a city and i think this might be what is tripping up the DISTINCT mysql query. Here is what i have: Code: [Select] $teachradius = 50; $add_under = array(" " => "_"); $query = sprintf("SELECT DISTINCT city, state_abbrev, ( 3959 * acos( cos( radians('%s') ) * cos( radians( lat ) ) * cos( radians( lng ) - radians('%s') ) + sin( radians('%s') ) * sin( radians( lat ) ) ) ) AS distance FROM cities HAVING distance < '%s' ORDER BY distance LIMIT 0 , 20", mysql_real_escape_string($lat_i), mysql_real_escape_string($lng_i), mysql_real_escape_string($lat_i), mysql_real_escape_string($teachradius)); $result = mysql_query($query); while ($row = @mysql_fetch_assoc($result)){ echo '<li><a href="/' . strtolower($row['state_abbrev']) . '/' . strtolower(strtr($row['city'],$add_under)) . '.html">' . ucwords($row['city']) . ', ' . $row['state_abbrev'] . ' Dogs</a></li>',"\n"; } Can you see what I might be doing incorrectly in my query so that i can echo out distinct city names / state abbrevs only? Thanks in advance... I have found postings close, but not close enough to find my error. I am looking up data from a MySql table and putting it in a dropdown box on a form. I can select the item, but apparently not really. I am not able to echo it, or post it to a record. I'm sure I am missing something simple, but... Code attached if anyone can show me the errors of my ways. Thank you. Throughout the application I'm building, I include a db.php file which has the information about the local database so that I can use it wherever I do a database call. However, I am now using a second database located on a remote server in order to fetch additional information not stored on the local database, inside a while loop. This fail miserably and I have tested many things and need a bit of guidance. Code simplified: Code: [Select] function grab_expiration_date ($number) { $remote_link = mysql_connect('remote_host', 'user', 'pass'); $remote_connect = mysql_select_db('remote_db', $remote_link); $query = "SELECT ExpirationDate FROM remote_table WHERE Number='$number'"; $result = mysql_query($query, $remote_link); $num_rows = mysql_num_rows($result); if ($num_rows == 1) { $r = mysql_fetch_assoc($result); $expire_date = $r['ExpirationDate']; mysql_close($remote_link); return $expire_date; } else { return false; } } $query = "SELECT Number FROM local_table; $result = mysql_query($query, $local_link); while ($r = mysql_fetch_assoc($result)) { $number = $r['Number']; $expire_date = fetch_expiration_date($number); if ($expire_date) { $query2 = UPDATE local_table SET ExpirationDate='$expire_date' WHERE Number='$number'"; $result2 = mysql_query($query2, $link); if (!$result2) { echo 'Could not update the Expiration Number because: ' . mysql_error(); exit(); } } else { echo 'Nothing found, or dublicates'; } } The attempt of update the local table fails, and mysql_error() does not even return anything, stating what's wrong. In the past, I fetched this information from a website using CURL, but since I now have access to the database, hitting the database is by far faster. Any help would be much appreciated. i have 12 distinct albums displaying 8 per page $number rows echo's out to be 1 so to me says my query is wrong how to count only distinct albums Code: [Select] $sql = "SELECT COUNT(DISTINCT album) FROM belsgallery GROUP BY album"; $result = mysql_query($sql, $conn) or trigger_error("SQL", E_USER_ERROR); $r = mysql_fetch_row($result); $numrows = $r['0']; echo $numrows; // RETURNS 1 $rowsperpage = 8; $totalpages = ceil($numrows / $rowsperpage); Hello, Ive got a mysql database but i used a script to add a bunch of file names but it entered with a few errors and theres quite a few that got entered 4-5 times. I can get all the names fine using "SELECT DISTINCT name FROM games" but how can i export all the other fields not just the names. I want to select everything but only DISTINCT on the names field1 / field2 10 / England 15 / Italy 20 / France 15 / France 30 / USA When searching for France: SELECT DISTINCT field2, field1 FROM $tableName would return a distinct value. I want to ensure it returns the highest value in field1. Something like this: SELECT DISTINCT field2 (but ensure returns highest field 1 value), field1 FROM $tableName I have 5 entries in a table Code: [Select] $sql = "select count(distinct columnName) from table"; $result = mysql_result($sql); $count = mysql_fetch_array($result); echo $count[0];The output is 5 as expected. Code: [Select] $sql = "select distinct columnName from table"; $result = mysql_result($sql); $count = mysql_fetch_array($result); echo $count[0];the ouput is the first file name as expected, however Code: [Select] echo $count[1];gives undefined offset 1, which does not make any sense. Can anyone explain why the offset 1 is undefined if the count is 5? Hello. I am trying to display only one instance of records that have the same memberid in my db. I am using the following statement but it continues to show all of the records that have the same memberid. Any ideas what I may be doing wrong? Code: [Select] $sql = "select DISTINCT memberid, event, category, date, enddate, locality, location, address, city, state, zip, contact, phone, notes, doc1, doc2, doc3, doc4, doc5 from event where date >= '$datenow' ORDER by date ASC"; Thanks for any help! Hi guys, using the code below within an admin panel to create a drop down allowing the user to select the profiles they wish to assign to the record they're creating, problem we have is that once a record is created, if they need to edit it for what ever reason the selected profile option isn't sticking. I've played around with lots of variants of if existing_record to try and get it add selected="selected" into the code but failed at every attempt, any advice gratefully received. Code: [Select] <?php // List only breeder profiles in the database echo '<select name="profile" class="textinput noborder">'; echo '<option value="any">Any</option>'; $qryGetDistinctProfile = "SELECT * FROM profiles ORDER BY title ASC"; $resGetDistinctProfile = mysql_query($qryGetDistinctProfile,$connection) or die(mysql_error()); if(mysql_num_rows($resGetDistinctProfile) > 0){ $id = mysql_result($resProfile, 0, "id"); while ($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($resGetDistinctProfile)){ echo '<option value="'.$row['id'].'" >'.$row['title'].'</option>'; } } echo '</select>'; ?> So, I've been trying to get this query working and can't quite get it to work. I'm trying to get an "array" of distinct browsers from the database, but it's only showing one of them. There are 3 unique browsers in the table and only "Chrome 30" gets returned. Here is the query:
SELECT DISTINCT `browser` AS `unique_browsers`, COUNT(DISTINCT `ip`) AS `unique_visitors`, COUNT(DISTINCT `country`) AS `unique_countries`, COUNT(`id`) AS `total_count`, (SELECT COUNT(`id`) FROM `table` WHERE `browser` LIKE '%Chrome%') AS `chrome_count`, (SELECT COUNT(`id`) FROM `table` WHERE `browser` LIKE '%Internet Explorer%') AS `ie_count`, (SELECT COUNT(`id`) FROM `table` WHERE `browser` LIKE '%Firefox%') AS `firefox_count`, (SELECT COUNT(`id`) FROM `table` WHERE `browser` LIKE '%Safari%') AS `safari_count`, (SELECT COUNT(`id`) FROM `table` WHERE `browser` LIKE '%Opera%') AS `opera_count`, (SELECT COUNT(`id`) FROM `table` WHERE `browser` NOT LIKE '%Chrome%' AND `browser` NOT LIKE '%Internet Explorer%' AND `browser` NOT LIKE '%Firefox%' AND `browser` NOT LIKE '%Safari%' AND `browser` NOT LIKE '%Opera%') AS `unknown_count` FROM `table` GROUP BY `browser`Everything works properly except the line: I need to add likes_username to this query and use a DISTINCT on it.
It currently counts how many likes a status has but in the table there are some statuses with multiple likes from the same username.
SELECT s.*, COUNT(l.likes_location_id) AS likeCount FROM stream AS s LEFT JOIN likes AS l ON ( l.likes_location_id = s.stream_id ) GROUP BY s.stream_id ORDER BY s.stream_id DESC LIMIT 50Many thanks, This topic has been moved to MySQL Help. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=343149.0 |
