PHP - Checking If File On Another Website Has Changed? (have Starter Curl Example)

Hi,
I'm creating an upload section that limits users to upload the following file types:

.pdf
.zip
.rar
.doc
.jpeg
.gif

When getting the type for .pdf files, it comes up as:
application/force-download

and for .rar files it comes up as:
application/x-download

If I do a check that says:

if ($type=="application/force-download" || $type=="application/x-download")

then will users only be able to upload .PDF and .RAR files? I'm assuming these two types will allow other formats as well.

If this is the case, how can I check the extension of the file before the user is able to upload it. I was thinking of somehow capturing the last 3 letters of the filename, and then doing the check that way, except I'm not sure how to go about this. Any insight appreciated!

I'm trying to auto login to a website(created by me ;-) ) using the curl. as I am new to this I don't know how to make this possible.

following is the code I tried but this is not submitting the data in the other site. the 'usr_name' and 'password' the field names in the page  "http://localhost/myproject/users/login". and I have given a print_r in that site and it is displaying

Array ( [loginType] => L [step] => confirmation [usr_name] => dasd@hotmail.com [password] => test123 )
but not submitting the form.

please help me....

I recently started coding in php, till now, i allready have advanced skills in programming with C# and thus, had no problems writing my own script.   Still, my script does not really work, i'm trying to check if a file contains a md5(string), but the script never finds the string.

What it does it pretty simple, you enter some html-code that'll be stored in the "webcode" variable, a password, let's say "apple" in "webpass" and the filename is stored in "webname".
On first creation, a html-file is created with the
<!--- md5(apple) ---> at it's end, the HTML Tags are needed to hide the string from any visitors.

If someone wants to edit the File created before, he also enters "apple".
Then the string will be looked up as md5(apple) in the file.
If the strings match, it's true and the changes should be saved.
Whatever i do, though, i'm allways ending up here if i try to edit an existing file: "The file already exists but you entered the wrong Password.<br> Pressing the \"return\" Button will bring you back without loosing the code you entered.";
As i said, i'm a newbie, i'd appreciate any tips and help.

I'm trying to figure out the best way to determine if a user is currently downloading a file from my website.
The way my site works, is the user waits 30 seconds and views an ad. After the timer is up the download becomes available.
I heard that I could probably use a timestamp or something of the sort. I've read up on it but not sure how I could go about this.

which works great, but i can't figure out how to NOT write an email to the .txt file if it's already on it, i'm not using a database for a change i'm stumped lol

I've got a page that allows users to upload a file (pdf, jpg, gif png). The user must be logged in in order to upload something. I have a query that checks if the user has already uploaded a file with the same name as the name of the file they are trying to upload.
If they have not uploaded the file yet, the file uploads and they get a "Success" message. If the file has already been uploaded by the user, they will get the message, "You have already uploaded that file".
When the query goes through, the message that shows is, "You have already uploaded that file". I ensured the file was not already in the database, and it still shows this error. I tried changing the if statement to say:

if ($duplicate==0)

instead of:

if ($duplicate!=0)

but it always shows the same error. Any ideas of what could be wrong with my code?

I am trying to check to see if a file size is acceptable before an upload but cant seem to get the right result no matter what i do.

if i have my if statement below coded like this

Hi Im trying to write info to a text file and it works perfectly with the following script, but it writes duplicate info, how can I change it so that no duplicate records are being added to my file and just ignore inserting it without giving a message?

I ask the user to input his user_id and post this user_id and perform a check on the entire xml file to check whether the entered user_id exists in the xml file or not. If exists then I go further if not echo a error message. Can anybody pull me out of this?

I have a PHP file that serves a file (which is below the web root). That works fine and the download dialog is presented when directly accessed.
Im building and API however, and that file needs to be served via HTTP Request.

Im trying to get it working with cURL but right now its just outputting the raw byte data to the screen.  Anyone had success or know what I need to try to be able to call that PHP file with cURL and have the browser try to download the file?

Hi All, I have been having issues for several days uploading a simple pdf file via Curl to one of our service providers servers.  I'm doing an is_uploaded_file check and getting a successful response, but the document is not actually being uploaded to the server. Hi all,

I am trying to download a .zip file that is in a protected folder on an external server.

If I put the URL directly to the .zip in the address bar and hit go, I am presented a basic http authentication popup for username and password (which I obv have).

Could someone point me in the right direction on this one? I have tested and can download .zip files that are not protected with no problem, I guess I just need to figure out how to authenticate, then save the file in one process.

I'm currently writing a script that basically downloads videos from a specific page.
I am downloading with cURL however with some files, they're so large cURL is timing out.

This is causing either
a) PHP to timeout
b) PHP memory to run out
c) cURL to stop once defined timeout limit is reached

This means that some files are only partitially downloaded as some files are over 100mb and some are only 20mb

ini_set("memory_limit","500M");set but is there a way to make it so PHP will not timeout and the cURL session will not timeout until the file is downloaded?
