My arguement is that although IIS is a closed-source system, it is also a widely targeted platform (Windows) so that may be of concern. My argument for Apache is that it is open source, so exploits can be implemented using the source code as well, which is available for free download.
So, the question really is which HTTP server platform is more secure?

I created info.php and placed it in var/www dir. The file consists of one line: <?php phpinfo(); ?>
When I run it our of my web editor (Bluefish), instead of showing me on my web browser the PHP info page that's suppose to show, I get: <?php phpinfo(); ?>
I've been fighting this for two days! Done everything suggested by many others online...and that's why I had to scrub my drive; forgot all the files I augmented.
Does anyone know why my PHP files behave this way? I'd love to start working with PHP, but I can't until whatever's broken is fixed. Any ideas? Any suggestions? I'm at my wit's end with this.

I find it terribly stupid from Apache not to provide a simple solution for this. I am working from my home computer using windows 8.1. I downloaded Xampp, installed notepad++ and created a simple echo statement using PHP. I then placed the statment into the htdocs file. Then I went to my browser and entered the path as localhost:81/invoice.php (I used 81 because 80 is used for another application). I also changed all of the locations where it defaulted to 80 (using the find function, so I know I covered them all). I still recieved this message below. I know they are seeing each other for two reasons.. 1. I get another error message when I make up a fake file path in localhost folder. 2. The error is a 404. Also, I can see Xampp dashboard at localhost:81/xampp. I am stumped. Could it be my security settings or the fact that I am on a home server? Also, could it be problem with having mysql and microsoft sql server 2008 R2 on the same machine? Any help would be awesome. Also, yes my Xampp is started up (Apache and Mysql). Thanks.

So how do I get Apache/PHP to respond to this GET CHUNKED request in a way the client understands? I'm switching up my local dev environment so I can use SVN. I have a directory for all my SVN stuff on my local machine now in /var/svn. When I call $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'] its listing the document root as /var/www. For this alias I've setup in apache I want the document root to be /var/svn/myproject. Alot of my includes are failing because of this now. |
