PHP - Posting Name From Database Into The Greeting Of Email Letter?

Hi there,

I'm new to PHP so sorry if this is a really basic question.

How do i post date of birth collected from a form, into a database?

I have the fields in the form set up as 'day' 'month' 'year' all of which are drop-down boxes.

I tried doing it one way which i saw on a different website, but it didn't work. Here is what i tried: Code: [Select]

More info: In the database table this information is going to, the "date of birth" field is set to "DATE" type. Don't know if that makes any difference

I'm having problems posting date from my MYSQL database. The date in my database is this "2011-01-08 02:53:14" but the it only echo's "01.01.70"

Could someone help me figure out why?

Hi everyone,

First off thank you very kindly to anyone who can provide some enlightenment to this total php/mysql newb.  I am creating my first database and while I have been able to connect to the database within my php script (or so I believe), the form data does not appear to be actually getting sent. 

I have development experience in other languages but this is completely new to me so if I've missed something that appears painfully obvious like a parse error of some sort, I do apologize.  I am creating a website using Godaddy as the hosting account, and attempting to connect to the mysql database at the following URL (maybe this is where I'm going wrong):

"pnmailinglist.db.4662743.hostedresource.com"

hello, im trying to see if there is a function that can get the value of the last row in mysql and see what is in field initial (this is letters A-Z) and make it one letter higher.  then, when it reaches letter Z, wrap around to A again.

Ok, I have one database three tables.

Table 1 is ncmr the main table where everything is to be entered.

Table 2 is companies, where all the companies in pull down menu 1 is located.

Table 3 is fabricators, where all the people who have had hands on the product are residing.

I want the selected choices of table 2 and 3 to be inputed into table 1. I know this has to be possible, but I don't know how.  I thought I wrote the code correctly, but it seems not.

Can someone review my code and show me where my mistake is?

Hi guys,

I was just wondering if anyone could help me. I've got a My_SQL database containing articles, a summary for the article and a date. I have a basic CMS system set-up, but I want to create a script that when users sign up to a mail list it forwards the summary and dates of the articles database. If that makes sense? But I only want it to forward the most recent 5 rows. I'm pretty new to PHP and I've been mostly following tutorials thus far, but this is quite specific.

Hi there everyone.  I'm really confused about this as I want to email eveyone in my DB when a new Event is created by a member.

I have a test code which I used to make sure it works and it sends to 5 email addresses (which is all of them) in the test table.  This works fine.  All members with a 0 get the mail.

So I now just took the code and changed the table name (obviously!!) and put it in my live site which has 50 members so far.  It now doesn't send any emails???  Not sure why this is as the code is exactly the same (except the table name).

Hi Everyone,

Very new to PHP and databases, so please go easy on me!

I have a series on web pages each containing a link that says 'apply here'. What I am trying to achieve is when any of these links are clicked on the user is taken to a php form page where they are asked for a series of further information such as name, telephone number etc. When they click submit this information then gets sent off to a speciifc email address.

My problem is that depending on which page the user has originally come from (the page where they clicked on the apply here link) needs to determine what email address the form information gets sent to.

I thought that the best way to achieve this would be to create a database that contains all of the email addresses (as eventually there will be alot of them) and the form page could call in the relevant email somehow... although I am totally confused on how to go about doing this.

            I have been contacted by a client who wants me to develop an application which performs the following functionality:

Lets say the domain name is xyz.com . We provide an email of our domain to the person who signup on our website for our services. Lets say the email that is given to the customer is email@xyz.com

The client wants to built PHP application in which if an email is sent to email@xyz.com it gets downloaded and is stored in the MySql Database. After the download there is going to be a set of algorithms which will decided whether to forward this email to the client or not on his email address.

I have no idea how to accomplish this functionality. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

can anyone please help me that i m a new user of PHP and linux so please tell me how i can send an email when mySQL insert trigger have been generated.

the scenario is like this, that when new value insert in a table (client_Table), then insert trigger is generated and the functionality of that trigger is that it gets the last inserted row Primary ID (suppose the value is '111') and get the specific audio file (with the name of "111") from specific location in Linux path (/var/lib/audio/"TablePrimaryID".wav) and send Email with audio file attachment and primary ID, to any specific Mail address. (with the help of gmail SMTP).

I am having trouble figuring out the right keywords to search for this, but what would I need to research if I want a user to send an email to a specific address (i.e. support@domain.com) and to have it create a new MySQL database entry, sort of like a help desk would generate?

I thought that putting the <a href around the $item['email'] would make the email address a hyperlink but it does not ... it skips the email addresses completely and hyperlinks the names because all fields are $item.
