PHP - Need Help In Setting Up This Website!! Php/mysql

I want to do an sql query, but I want it to happen only after my user has clicked on a confirmation link.  The link will be sent to their email address.  What is the usual procedure for this?

For the time being Ive chucked what ive got into 1 php file, but I pressume I will need a couple of php files, and some how pass some variables from  1 page to the next???

It's pretty simple to see what I am trying to do here. For some reason all results in the table are the same exact cityName replacing all existing records. The echoed results are correct. I've include a small dump of my table as well.

I have practically no experience with PHP but I know how to use mysql. Anyway I am trying to set up registration for a game through my website, so would something simple like this work, provided I can figure how to tell it what database and table to input the information in?

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this question, but I'll still post it. I'm a newbie programmer, have 1 year experience of php, mysql and html and know how to make a basic website, but I've never actually uploaded the already written code on the internet.So my question is, if you use vertrigo serv and have folders full of php files, what do you do after getting a domain? I read that dreamweaver does that for you, but i also read that it is a closed source software with limitations if you get the free version.The other choice is using FileZilla(which I don't fully understand yet ) i presume.  

I'm a beginner to PHP and am stuck as to how I can fetch data from a MYSQL database and output that information in html to the website. Currently I get the information from the database using normal php:

Then I assign each field from the database to a php variable in a while loop:

Then I just print each variable in a table using simple html and php. My problem is that it only outputs the latest element or row from my database. I want to output the database within a HTML template so that it is professional and tidy, but i cant figure out how to do that. Any help?

I'm trying to make a League of Legends (a video game) community website, both as a personal project and for practice.
Now the game has a lot of champions, each of whom have 5 unique abilities. Now, I thought about manually inputting all the details about each champion into a MySQL database, but that would long and tedious, and I don't really have the time for it now. Also, the game patches very oftern (like, once every 2 weeks) which changes many of the stats, etc. of the champion, and it is not possible for me to keep manually updating these every time there is a patch.

Fortunately, there is a League of Legends Wiki which has all the data I need in their specific champion pages, which they keep updated per patch. So I was wondering if there was any way to get the data from the divs in the wiki, and have it display on my site. What I want to do in my website is that whenever someone types a champion's name (in a post or whatever), I want it to display a hover-over dialog with some of the champions details. And a lot of other features such as that.

In plain English I need a way to :
> Tell PHP to go to the wiki's source code on a specific page
> Find a specific div container
> Get X data from there
> Pass X data into a function to display the hover-over

I think this way, I would not have to maintain a database as I can leech off the wiki's data.
I have not coded anything like this before, so I would like a few pointers as to how to achieve this. Any help will be appreciated!

I made a website in PHP mvc framework. Now I want to remove "public" keyword from URL. I tried by removing  require "../app/init.php";  these dots and bringing htaccess & index.php file in root directory. But it doesn't work. I searched on google but didn't find anything. I am trying to make a login using cookies, I had been using sessions but i need to use cookies for it now. I have a page called login.php, and i use ajax to login. It seems to be setting the cookie and printing the value of it out when i login, however that's about it. When i'm reading the cookie on other pages it doesn't appear to recognize a cookie. However, If i set the cookie on just a regular index page it has no problem with setting it and reading it. it works fine when i do that.

This is how i set the cookie on the login page (also the exact code i used to test setting it on the index page):

then to read it on other pages i just use:
