PHP - Encoding Problem In The Includes' Files.
Hello everybody,
Hope somebody can help. As the subject says, I'm having encoding problems in my includes files, the "accents" and some special characters don't work. However, they do work in my main HTML. I really don't know what the problem is and how to fix it. Thanks in advance. Similar TutorialsHello, I have a serious problem with includes So in the past I didn't have any organizing done when creating a website it was just the root and I throw in my files and a folder for the images. Now I am organizing my files something like this http://www.flickr.com/photos/41987677@N03/4926503042/. Now in index.php on the root folder I included the top.php, bottom.html and sessions.php as seen on global folder and inside of top.php and session.php are more includes to files like global.css the javascript files and images like logo and background of the top. now everything worked fine on index.php(root) and displayed everything. Now under the karoobridge folder (index.php) I included the top and bottom files on global now its throwing an error. My question is: is the organization I'm using useless with includes should I stick with just throwing everything on root directory? Can you give me some advice? Sorry if my explanation is confusing but I think you get the idea. I also tried $_SERVER["DOCUMENT_ROOT"] and put that in the index of karoobridge folder to get the top.php, though i got the file the image in top.php didn't appear (I also used $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_rOOT'] for the images) what could be the problem? I am rebuilding a CMS system that I have been developing over the last ~6 years. It needs to have many different kinds of modules depending on the installation (Like Drupal or Joomla does) I have a Core class that does the major processing. I am currently developing the part of the system that loads the actual module into the index.php page. While experimenting I came up with an idea that is probably really horrible but I started to wonder if maybe it could actually work well. I am looking for feedback on this Core class function: Code: [Select] public function LoadMods($ModsToLoad) { foreach ($ModsToLoad as $mod) { $MainFile = ABSPATH.DS.$mod.DS.'main.php'; if (file_exists($MainFile)) include ($MainFile); else $this->_MAIN .= 'Error: The "main" file for "'.$mod.'" module could not be found<br/>'; } } It will receive an array of Module names and those names correspond to a directory that holds the "main.php" file for that module. Example: index.php?mod=Photos Will load the "Photos" module. Here is the thing that has me concerned... A module might have it's own class or classes and that class will likely get included in the "main.php" file for that module. What effect is that going to have on my core class because it starts nesting classes inside classes. Is this an efficiency advantage or am I heading down a road paved by code stink? What's you opinion? Hello, i am trying to build a website with German language. I save all of my php pages as utf-8 without BOM. If i hard code every page, i have no problems. However, all of my pages are the same except for content between header and footer. I made a template header, individual content files and a template footer (all php files). index.php include "header.php"; include "pagecontent.php"; include "footer.php"; when i do this, i look at my pages and everything seems fine. However, my German characters become jumbled letters if i use the back button in the web browser to view the previous page. why is this happening? can i fix it? how to get the domain name of a website which includes my includes file. The code would need to be put within my includes file so when any site includes it the file will get the sites domain. to $currentDomain i have tried using: echo file_get_contents() instead of includes but i get the same issue I get back the includes domain. then code i have tried (in the includes file): Code: [Select] $curdomain1= $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST']; $pageUR1 = ereg_replace("/(.+)", "", $_SERVER["SERVER_NAME"].$_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"]); $curdomain2 = str_replace("www.", "", $pageUR1); echo "<br> 1# Current Domain: ".$curdomain1; echo "<br> 2# Current Domain: ".$curdomain2; hi This problem is the most strange thing that i seen in the last times. this code works Code: [Select] <?php function conecta () { $host = "localhost"; $senha = "vertrigo"; $login = "xxx"; $database = "emprego"; $conexao = mysql_connect($host,$login,$senha) or die(mysql_error()); mysql_select_db($database,$conexao)or die; } conecta (); //more ?> but this doesn't work Code: [Select] <?php require("includes/f_banco.php"); conecta (); ?> I never seen something like that. Any ideia? the paths are correct, the bd is correct and the query works when i put the function conecta() directly in the php file. Thanks Hi i am fairly new to php and seem to be having a problem using <php includes> This problem had boggled me for the last few hours now and finally came to try and seek help what i am trying to do is have a php index page that imports my header, footer, navbar and main content from other php files this is the code i am using: Code: [Select] <body> <div class="indexcontainer"> <?php include('header.php'); ?> <table width="900" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> <tr> <td width="26" background="images/index20.jpg" > </td> <td width="162"><?php include('lsidebar.php'); ?></td> <td><?php include('content.php'); ?></td> </tr> </table> <?php include('footer.php'); ?> </div> </body> this doesnt display the way i want instead of 'images/index20.jpg' 'lsidebar.php' and 'content.php' appearing in the table under the header, images/index20.jpg takes up more space that i set, i set it to 26, it really takes up 123, and it pushes my content.php of the page i guess(i dont know how to fix this) images/index20.jpg- is a border image that i need to extend down to the bottom of page but above the footer, i had this working before but i had the border image included in with the navbar.php file, but it wouldnt extend to bottom of page im probably doing this wrong way, i hope someone can point me in the right direction Hi, I have few files which i need to display in correct format and also save in db to use. My problem is here is my code: $file = "C:\\file.txt"; $data = file_get_contents($file); $data = '<pre>'; $data .= mb_convert_encoding($file, 'UTF-8', 'ISO-8859-1'); $data .= '</pre>'; echo $data; but when i echo $data i get weird characters . here is result http://paste2.org/p/1361878 Thanks for any help. Hi, Using arabic characters, I have a project, in the admin panel, where i am trying to change the value in the text box(ajax) on onblur js function. Firefox simply working great but i am getting square brackets in the text box in the browser ie. I simply guessing the value from the text box is not in the form of utf-8 encoding, i am calling the external javascript file, this is the code am using.. Code: [Select] // JavaScript Document var xmlhttp; //function namechange(name_fieldvalue) function namechange(name_fieldvalue,name_fieldname,id_val,id_fieldname,table_name) { /* alert(name_fieldvalue); alert(name_fieldname); alert(id_val); alert(id_fieldname); alert(table_name); */ if (name_fieldvalue.length==0) { document.getElementById("txtHint").innerHTML=""; return; } xmlhttp=GetXmlHttpObject(); if (xmlhttp==null) { alert ("Your browser does not support XMLHTTP!"); return; } var url="ajax_namechange.php"; url=url+"?name_fieldvalue="+name_fieldvalue; url=url+"&name_fieldname="+name_fieldname; url=url+"&id_val="+id_val; url=url+"&id_fieldname="+id_fieldname; url=url+"&table_name="+table_name; xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=stateChanged; xmlhttp.open("GET",url,true); xmlhttp.send(null); } function stateChanged() { if (xmlhttp.readyState==4) { document.getElementById("txtHint").innerHTML=xmlhttp.responseText; } } function GetXmlHttpObject() { if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { // code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari return new XMLHttpRequest(); } if (window.ActiveXObject) { // code for IE6, IE5 return new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } return null; } Anyone has the idea on this, please help me. Thanks, I submit text to my MySQL database using a form on my site. When I look at the text in my database, sometimes, there are strange characters. The strange characters are caused by quotation marks, em dashes, apostrophes and foreign letters of the alphabet. I think that this only happens when the source of the text is a Windows program. I understand that this is a character encoding issue, but I don't fully understand the subject. I've spent the last few hours researching it, but it's only confused me.
My site uses UTF-8 encoding:
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/xml; charset=utf-8" />The collation of my database is utf8_general_ci. My form looks like this: <form action="" method="post"> </form>As you can see, an accept-charset="utf-8" attribute has not been specified. Questions 1) I am guessing that my problem is that the Windows characters are being misinterpreted by my UTF-8 setup. Is that correct? 2) If so, is there a way that I can safely convert the Windows characters to UTF-8 during the submission process? 3) Should I also specify an accept-charset="utf-8" attribute on the form? 4) When I paste the Windows text directly into my database without using the form, the characters save without turning into the strange characters. But they don't render properly on my site. Can't browsers identify Windows characters? Hi, My first post here is a cry for help I have a Windows 2003 server running IIS6/PHP5, the server hosts multiple web sites. The problem is include files that are for site A are showing on site B (each site having its own includes as part of the site files in its own site folder), though not every time, its very random, sometimes the correct includes show, sometimes ones from another site on the same server. This only occurs where the include files for both sites have the same name, such as 'inc-header.php' for example. I can only assume PHP is caching includes and because they have the same name is showing the wrong one on other sites sometimes, if I rename them to something unique then the problem goes away, but its not a practical solution to rename all include files to unique names so I find myself looking for a 'real' fix. I have a feeling its to do with the include_path in the php.ini, but right now its disabled with a semi-colon, and I don't want to set one as I have no global includes, all includes are site specific. Any help would be very much appreciated! Phil Hi, I have a strange problem with uploading files. My script was working fine on the test server but since moving to the live server it isn't working. Here is a printout of the FILES variable: Code: [Select] Array ( [file] => Array ( [name] => filename.ppt [type] => [tmp_name] => [error] => 1 [size] => 0 ) ) Does anyone know what the problem might be? The error message that comes back is 'Invalid file'. Code: [Select] function upload_ppt_files() { echo 'print_r($_FILES) = '.print_r($_FILES).'<br />'; global $CFG; if (($_FILES["file"]["type"] == "application/vnd.ms-powerpoint") && ($_FILES["file"]["size"] > 100)) { if ($_FILES["file"]["error"] > 0) { $CFG->message = "Error code:". $_FILES["file"]["error"]; manage_ppt_files(); } else { if (file_exists("../../uploads/" . $_FILES["file"]["name"])) { $CFG->message = $_FILES["file"]["name"] . " already exists."; manage_ppt_files(); } else { move_uploaded_file($_FILES["file"]["tmp_name"], "../../uploads/" . $_FILES["file"]["name"]); $CFG->message = "File uploaded successfully."; manage_ppt_files(); } } } else { $CFG->message = "Invalid File."; manage_ppt_files(); } } Hai, i have a project which is build from mac os and then i transfer all the file to windows and run it. Alot of error showing on windows but none on mac os. I already check the short tag but still alot of problem to run from windows. Anyone know whats the problem?

No problem with smaller files. I'm running PHP 5.28 and have the following in php5.ini. magic_quotes_gpc = Off log_errors = on display_errors = off memory_limit = 64M post_max_size = 8M upload_max_filesize = 8M max_input_time = 360 max_execution_time = 360 upload_tmp_dir = amd_temp The permissions for the upload folder are set to 755. Here's the code: <?php if ($_SERVER['REQUEST_METHOD'] == 'GET') { ?> <form method="post" action="<?php echo $_SERVER['SCRIPT_NAME'] ?>" enctype="multipart/form-data"> <input type="file" name="document"/> <input type="submit" value="Send File"/> </form> <?php } else { if (isset($_FILES['document']) && ($_FILES['document']['error'] == UPLOAD_ERR_OK)) { $newPath = 'updocs/' . basename($_FILES['document']['name']); if (move_uploaded_file($_FILES['document']['tmp_name'], $newPath)) { print "File saved in $newPath"; } else { print "Couldn't move file to $newPath"; } } else { print "No valid file uploaded."; } } ?> Any thoughts on what might be the problem? Thanks. Hey, guys, in the following code, why i cannot see my ~/test.txt file? It seem he is not doing what i want, to create a .txt file with 'is just a test'. I'm using Debian.
