PHP - Array In Function

Hi guys really need some help.

i have got this function. I am learning codeignitor.

this is the result i get from the print_r().

What i am trying to do is pull the value filename out off the array and pass it into another vairable in the fucntion which is what i am trying to do with these two lines of code.

$name = $json->{'file_name'};

$this->files->add($name);

I keep getting this error what am i doing wrong?

Undefined variable: json

In my main script I set $errorArray with values when required survey questions go unanswered.

The ne code that checks for missing required values is working perfectly, and right before I pass $errorArray to a function which rebuilds the survey questions - this time with the error messages - I do a var_dump($errorArray) and that array has errors in it as expected.

But while my function that re-builds the survey questions gets called and does indeed re-build the survey questions, the $errorArray isn't getting pased for some strange reason?

(I'm not sure if i have ever passed an array to a function before.)

In my function I have...

When I var_dump($errorArray) at the top of the function, and submit a blank form, I end up with a blank page and a file path to my PHP script ending with...

Questions:

1.) What is happening?

 

2.) I thought =NULL in the parameter list just meant that the argument is "optional"?

 

3.) I am able to successfully pass $surveyResponseArray to this function, so what is up with $errorArray?

 

P.S.  When I run things, and submit an empty form - thus no "required" fields get completed - the survey gets re-displays, and any values chosen are "sticky", but my error messages should also be displayed to let the user know what is mising, and that is the part that isn't working?

This has to be something silly stupid to fix...

I hope I'm not being a vampire here sucking the life out of you guys, but I can't find any resources in google that explains how to properly use this function in a mysql array. All it does is add a url for any urls added in plaintext.

Error:

(Clearly an error where I'm abusing the heck out of the bolded line. Any ideas on how to properly code this?

How can I make a multiple function array?

i'm setting up reminders for users and fetch_reminders does what it says... fetches all the reminder functions. Well that's what I want it to do and the other functions are just checks.

How can I make $reminder and array of the functions that I want checked? Is this the best way to do it?

Hi im having some trouble when i try to add values to an array from a function. The added value will not stay saved.
fun1 will display both firstname and surname but when i call fun2 after calling fun1 i just get the firstname.

I would like to have it so the array is updated and stays updated untill it is cleared or over written.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. i am using codeigniter if that makes any difference.

I'm fairly new to this and I have looked around but I can't find much information on it. Basically I know what an array and a function is but I'm currently working through an oop login and register sytem and I am seeing this quite a lot:   function myFunction($myVariable = array()){   $Firstvariable = $myVariable[0]; $Secondvariable = $myVariable[1];   //etc   }   This is really confusing me and I can't see any examples in any tutorial sites or books of an array and a function being used like this. Can someone just explain how something like this would work in simple terms? I have also checked the manual but I can't see an example an array being used like this. The objective is to add a year to the $years_arr array and then print it put, yet I notice that nothing get's printed out. Please assist, if you need more info from my side, please do ask. Thank you very much in advance.

My tree gather function gives me multidimensional array. However i want it to be one dimensional . I was getting one dimensional earlier however i forgot how i got it. Can someone please tell me my mistake

Say i have two arrays with custom keys. What would be the easiest way to write a function that would determine if all the keys in arrayOne are in arrayTwo? The example below would return false because keys 3 and 4 are missing in arrayTwo. Any help would be much appreciate. thanks!

I have been having some issues with the above functions and while the mail was sent , it was looking kinda weird 
Im facing 2 problems:
1st: implode() , or print_r() didnt worked for me , i guess i should be using a foreach statement but i never stadied seriously the arrays.
2nd: Always a JSON parse error, or invalid JSON error comes out when the email() code exitsts...

Can I use a variable passed via a function as the array key in this way? If so, how? And if not, what's the best way to do what I, trying to do?

I just started out with PHP so it might be a trivial problem. I want to populate an array with values by a recursive function but i don't get it the way i want it to have.

Target array (written in python syntax):

myArray = {

So far i created a recursive function to collect all data i need for the array but i don't get the right syntax to achieve my target array.

What i have so far is following code (snippet):
