PHP - Displaying Results In Columns - Part Ii

When i am getting the part of the text using the function substr, am getting this kind of problem , (text in the end not printing properly) how to solve this.

Hi,

Im a little confused on how to go about setting up a news section.

i.e

On my homepage i got it displaying
Title:
Postedby:
brief:

i would like a read more button...

So it will go around index.php?news=$idfullstory (something like that)

and on that page it will automatically show the full story etc..

Just a bit confused, so can someone break it down or even better point me in the right direction please?

This works fine if there are 10 images to display, but on occasions there may only be 7 for instance. This then puts 5 in the right column and only 2 in the left column which looks ugly.

Can someone suggest a way of calculating the total number of images and then displaying them say 4 in the left column and 3 in the right column for this example?

I'm a newbie, and been trying to work out a way so that the results from an array (or mysql recordset for that matter), are nicely aranged in a table. I want them to show in a grid-like manner, with rows and columns added according to number of "items".

I worked out this small code snippet, with a sample array, and for the life of me, cant figure out how to make it so it automatically "breaks" columns at 5 and start new row. I got it to show me right number of rows, but then it repeats all 10 names within them, as opposed to just showing 5 names in each row...

Appreciate the help...

Hello freaks,

Got a task here which is displaying correctly (I believe).  I only have 3 data entries in the db right now.  Like I said (I think) the display of the code below yields the right layout but it repeats the first db entry over and over.

I got the display to work correctly like this:

4 5 6
7 8 9

I am trying to get this display result (so it is more eligable for the end user!)

1 4 7
2 5 8
3 6 9

I would like to display my master details page links to the details pages in three columns rather than a single column.

i have authors with different articles on a certain topic. What i want is, displaying the name of the author only once and all his titles under his name. I also want a dynamic table where i display three authors in each row and soon as there a fourth author a new row must start. My problem now is is the title is also being filtered and i can only display one title.

I'm trying to create a list that groups information by username. Only part of it is working. The first query ($get_item_sql) is grouping the information perfectly but the second query ($get_sold) is lumping the $item_price and $item_amount_due as one total for each one and outputting the same amounts into every username. I'm stuck on this and would appreciate your help.

For example:  Username   item fees   image fees item sales  item price  total due
                       Jim                   2               $0.40      $100.00        $3.00     $3.40
                       Kelly                 5               $1.00      $100.00        $3.00     $4.00

This example shows the columns in red as being the problem where Kelly didn't sell anything so her "item sales" and "item price" should be $0.00 but is carrying Jim's totals into hers.

I have a mysql database that stores information about books. I am currently using the code below to query the database and extract the 3 most recent entries and showing them in a dynamic list:
