PHP - Make Huge Numbers Readable
Hi Guys,
I need a function which makes huge numbers normally readable... For example 1000000 must become 1.000.000 The same with smaller or lager numbers... Does someone know a simple solution ? Cheers Similar TutorialsHi All, Sometimes after some calculation php may return this: 1.02563125481E+54 But how to make this into 1 number without the E+ etc ?! Cheers How do I write a bit of code to check if a file is NOT readable...and if (and only if) it is NOT readable (doesn't exist) , wget the file. Here's what I tried...but it loops forever and ever...even if the file does exist. Code: [Select] $filename = "file.mp3"; while(!is_readable($filename)) { $url = "domain.com" . ".mp3"; echo system('wget '.escapeshellcmd($url)); echo system('sleep 30'); } ?> I Googled...and couldn't find the correct syntax for IS NOT READABLE. I'm getting data from a third party API and the first_name and last_name fields from this third party are sometimes not in english and they come out quite odd looking. Example... "first_name": "Pesh\u042fo", "last_name": "\u062d\u0633\u064a\u0646" How could I normalize that using PHP to make it readable again? Hi, I have a date and time stored in a database field (publishdate) and I'm using php to fetch it and display it in an HTML table. Only problem is it shows up in epoch time. I can't get it to display in human readable time for some reason. Here's the code I'm using (it's automatically generated by some software) // View column for publishdate field $column = new TextViewColumn('publishdate', 'Publishdate', $this->dataset); $column->SetOrderable(true); Many thanks in advance. Tony Hi, I have a connection set up to an API using a PHP script - the API sends back data in JSON format, and if I capture it and echo it, it displays in extremely unfriendly format on the screen. I've tried to find a way to convert this data into readable format, ideally in a HTML table, but although there are articles on converting manually inputted JSON data into a HTML table using Javascript, I can't find a way to do it from a PHP variable. This is what I have so far: if ($_POST['getcompany']) { $companyname = $_POST['_Name']; $ch = curl_init(); $data_array2 = array( 'token' => $token ); $make_call2 = json_encode($data_array2); //echo 'Token is '.$token; $token2 = substr($token, 14); $token3 = substr($token2, 0, -3); //echo 'Token 2 is '.$token3; //echo 'Company Name is '.$companyname; //curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_GET, 1); //curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, $make_call2); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HTTPHEADER, array('Content-Type: application/json','Authorization: '.$token3.'')); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, 'https://connectionurl?countries=GB&name='.$companyname); //Execute the request $result = curl_exec($ch); echo 'Companies: '.$result; //This displays the data provided by the search, but is in JSON format
So I need a way to get the data held in $result, into a HTML table. Any idea how I can do this? Hi, I need to sort variables in groups of up to 15 and put it in an array. For example: $exstract['center_tabOpBody_0'] =5 $exstract['center_tabOpBody_1'] =6 $exstract['center_tabOpBody_2'] =8 $exstract['center_tabOpBody_3'] =1 Should yield: ARRAY( = center_tabOpBody_1,center_tabOpBody_2,center_tabOpBody_3 // <-----15 [1] = center_tabOpBody_0 //<----5 ) Is there some simple function do do the "efficiency" sort? Thanks, Vadim Hello! I have a small question... I used to upload all my member's images in same directory, but now i've decided to put 1000 images in each directory Code: [Select] <?php $ID = $get_member_id_from_mySQL; if($ID >=0 AND $ID <=1000 ){ $directory_name='from0to1000'; } else if($ID >=1001 AND $ID <=2000 ){ $directory_name='from1001to2000'; } else if($ID >=2001 AND $ID <=3000 ){ $directory_name='from2001to3000'; } else if($ID >=3001 AND $ID <=4000 ){ $directory_name='from3001to4000'; } if(is_dir($directory_name)){ imagejpeg( $tmp_img, "{$directory_name}{$image_name}" ); }else{ mkdir("/path/to/my/$directory_name", 7777); imagejpeg( $tmp_img, "{$directory_name}{$image_name}" ); } ?> Is there any simpler way to continue with the IF function? Because I can't do this until 1000000 ? I have a like 100 of these in a drop down box and drop down box on html is really new to me Id like to put all the option values into one variable. but i dont know if the form works like that? cause I want to store the -1200 and not whats in the drop down box I feel like my approach with this is way off if someone could help guide me in a direction would appreciate it so I can say Code: [Select] <?php mysql_query("UPDATE users SET time_offset= '".mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['$________'])."' WHERE id = '".mysql_real_escape_string($_SESSION['user_id'])."'"); <select name="cars"> <option value="-1200">(GMT -1200) International Date Line West </option> <option value="-1100">(GMT -1100) Coordinated Universal Time -11 </option> <option value="-1100">(GMT -1100) Samoa </option> <option value="-1000">(GMT -1000) Hawaii </option> <option value="-0900">(GMT -0900) Alaska </option> ?> I need to validate the POST fields below except a few hidden inputs like User_id & category: They are not huge but i would not like to write for each a line of code like if(empty($_popst['field'])) ... How can simplify this by checking only if they are empty and display a message that lists all fields that were not filled? Code: [Select] array('user_id'=>$data['Id'], 'surname'=>$_POST['surname'], 'firstname'=>$_POST['firstname'], 'middlename'=>$_POST['middlename'], 'id_number'=>$_POST['id_number'], 'pin_number'=>$_POST['pin_number'], 'street'=>$_POST['street'], 'estate'=>$_POST['estate'], 'hse_number'=>$_POST['hse_number'], 'town'=>$_POST['town'], 'tele'=>$_POST['tele'], 'mobi'=>$_POST['mobi'], 'work_street'=>$_POST['work_street'], 'work_building'=>$_POST['work_building'], 'company'=>$_POST['company'], 'work_town'=>$_POST['work_town'], 'work_tele'=>$_POST['work_tele'], 'work_fax'=>$_POST['work_fax'], 'cont_surname'=>$_POST['cont_surname'], 'cont_firstname'=>$_POST['cont_firstname'], 'cont_middlename'=>$_POST['cont_middlename'], 'cont_street'=>$_POST['cont_street'], 'cont_building'=>$_POST['cont_building'], 'cont_company'=>$_POST['cont_company'], 'cont_home_tele'=>$_POST['cont_home_tele'], 'cont_office_tele'=>$_POST['cont_office_tele'], 'cont_mobi'=>$_POST['cont_mobi']); Hi, I have this text file with a 123mb size then i ran my simple script to read it and render it via browser $fh = fopen('worldcitiespop.txt',r); while(!feof($fh)) { $content = fgets($fh); echo $content."<br />"; } fclose($fh); I was expecting the 'whole' output via browser but then it didn't show "all" because when I opened the text file via a wordpad, it's really huge.. can you tell me what's wrong with my script ?...( btw, there's no max execution time error at all ) Hi, I'm pretty new to this, so apologies if there's some simple solution/misunderstanding. It seems to me that when the user uploads a file, PHP pulls in the file into the temporary directory and then you can query it using the $_FILES array. Assuming I am correct so far, I have two questions: 1. Is there anyway to prevent the upload to the temporary folder based on file size? Seems to me a good way to overload a server to upload 10GB files, even if they are picked up as "errors" and deleted from the temp folder. 2. How long do files stay in the temporary folder? Does PHP delete them automatically, and if so, when? Thanks. I'm ok with PHP but probably not half as good as some of you guys on here. I am basically trying to find a way to grab a line from a huge and I mean huge text file.... its basically a list of keywords I want to call by line number but without preferably going through them all before I get to that line.....otherwise couldmcrash my server obviously. At the moment im using this Code: [Select] $lines = file('http://www.mysite.com/keywords.txt'); // Loop through our array, show HTML source as HTML source; and line numbers too. foreach ($lines as $line_num => $line) { echo "$line_num"; } This works but im sure theres gotta be a better way of doing to save on usuage because this is putting the whole file into the memory and if I can simply say to php give me line number 97, would umm RULE.... Hope you guys can come up with a solution as your much smarter than me ty Okay so my news script is set to view only 10 pieces of news. But I want it so that it starts a new page once I have more than 10 pieces of news. Code: [Select] <?php require("functions.php"); include("dbconnect.php"); session_start(); head1(); body1(); new_temp(); sotw(); navbar(); $start = 0; $display = 10; $query = "SELECT * FROM news ORDER BY id DESC LIMIT $start, $display"; $result = mysql_query( $query ); if ($result) { while( $row = @mysql_fetch_array( $result, MYSQL_ASSOC ) ) { news_box( $row['news'], $row['title'], $row['user'], $row['date'], $row['id'] ); } mysql_free_result($result); } else { news_box( 'Could not retrieve news entries!', 'Error', 'Error', 'Error'); } footer(); mysql_close($link); ?> I tried a few things but they failed....miserably. can you have something like.. echo $whatever; this putput 1.2 can you split this number so the first integer will be in $val"(1)" or whatever and the second integer after the "." will be in $val2"(2)" Hi i got an error. I cant get $new_score and $new_played variables. $name = $_POST["name"]; $score = $_POST["score"]; $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM taure_lentele WHERE name='$name'"); $row = mysql_fetch_array($result); if(mysql_num_rows(mysql_query("SELECT name FROM taure_lentele WHERE name='$name'") ) == 1 ) { $old_score = $row['score']; $score + $old_score = $new_score; $old_played = $row['played']; $new_played = $old_played++; mysql_query("DELETE FROM taure_lentele WHERE name='$name'"); mysql_query("insert into `taure_lentele` set `name` = '$name', `score` = '$new_score', `played` = '$new_played"); } Sorry if this has already been solved. Also, I apologize if this is an amateur question... I have a simple form and a script to do some validating of user data, among other tasks. One part of the script is intended to verify a birthday. Code: [Select] $x = $_POST['x']; $x = trim($x); According to the php.net manual, trim() is supposed to remove whitespace before and after a string. My intent by using trim() is to determine if someone tried to skip the birthday field. I have other validation running on the value of $x, but I wanted trim() to remove whitespace. However, the value of x, which in this case is expected to be numeric, such as 12 for a month, ends up being 1. This happens with any 2-digit number that a user might enter into the form field for x. The second number is always removed. Any insight into why trim() removes the second number, 2 in the above example, leaving only a "1" as the value of $x, would be very greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. I need to be able to add all the numbers together collected from the database with mysql_fectch_array Code: [Select] public function gradeQuery(){ $id = $this->idQuery(); $sql = "SELECT*FROM grades WHERE moviesID = '$id'"; $result = mysql_query($sql); $row = mysql_fetch_array($result); $num_rows = mysql_num_rows($result); } hello again how to get ratio with result max 3 numbers such as 3.00 or 0.11 if im do $mynumbers = 1000 / 400; so reusult to be 1.00 ? and how to put full stop if it is more then 4 numbers result instead of 1000 to have 1.000 |
