PHP - Complex Query Help: Multiple Fields & Multi-select List Boxes
I need some help with the query for a form that selects values across multiple columns, and allow users to select multiple values in several columns.
http://brinsterinc.com/tpa/tpasearch.php I assume you build the where clause for the sql by determining if there is an option value has been selected in the single-value select boxes. But how do I handle the multi-select list boxes? I'm desperate for help! Need to get somewhere with this over the weekend! TIA! Similar TutorialsHi I have to two multi list select boxes side by side. The first has all the options that the user can select which they can select and transfer to the other multi list select box. I have used javascript to create the buttons which allow you to add and remove selections from the right multi list box. Once I hit submit all the selections go to a mysql database, which is fine. However my problem is that the selected options don't stay in the right hand mulit list box after submission. So I need to know how I can keep them in there, or maybe populate that right hand multi list box with the submitted selections. FYI: once the selections are submitted they are stored in a text field in mysql database, so I need them to come back, as options in the right hand multi list box. Hope this makes sense Below is a link to something similar, just need to sort out the php side http://www.dhtmlgoodies.com/scripts/multiple_select/multiple_select.html Many Thanks Hello, I have the following function function make_agent_drop($dropname,$parent=''){ $agents = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM ad_category WHERE cat_status='1' AND parent_id='".(is_numeric($parent)?$parent:"0")."'") or die(mysql_error()); $anum = mysql_num_rows($agents); if($anum>0){ $agentdrop='<select style="width:150px; height:20px; margin-left:100px; font-size:11px;" name="'.$dropname.'" id="'.$dropname.'" class="text" '.(is_numeric($parent)?'':'onchange="update_subcatdrop($(this).val());').'"> <option value="0">Select a Category</option>'; while($row= mysql_fetch_array($agents)){ $agentdrop.='<option value="'.$row['cat_id'].'">'.$row['cat_name'].'</option>'; } $agentdrop.='</select>'; }else{ $agentdrop= 'No '.(is_numeric($parent)?'Sub':'').'Categories Found.'; } return $agentdrop; ; } I creates a drop down from database cats and sub cats.. I am trying to figure out how to add a submit button to dynamically appear when it displays the sub category... Thanks! Dan could anyone please help me with the code which is i have already displayed data as a multi select list but now i need to select one or more from them and insert into another database table. would be appreciate your help. thanx Hi I am trying to have the following as an example: Code: [Select] <select name="test[]" multiple="multiple">options here</select> <select name="test[]" multiple="multiple">options here</select> Then using $_POST['test'] to grab the boxes in the array. I want to then loop over each box so for example: Code: [Select] $boxes = $_POST['test']; foreach ( $boxes as $box ) // now here i would of expected $box to be an array of the options, } but it's not working like this, all the options from all submitted select boxes come in one array so I cannot distinguish which select box in the array they relate to, is there a way to do this?? Hi, I had a form which contains, 8 select boxes. In those 8 select boxes, 3 of the boxes are interlinked, like, I am able to generate data in other 2 select boxes, if one box is been selected. i.e. based upon selection of one select box, and i am able to generate data in other select box. So, 3 select boxes are interlinked. And remaining 5 selects are optional, if the user selects, then we need to generate data based upon selection of the user. Here the main issue is how to grab data in the post back form, like, how to capture the number of selects boxes selected and what are those selected, and based upon that we need to generate data. Here one more important thing is that, in the report generation form(postback form), I need to show the data in a table. So , in table I had 9 columns and these would be common to whatever the selection made, but, only the requeired data would be changed based upon the selection of the remaining 5 optional boxes. Hope you got me!!!! Hi i would like to submit the following code to my database as a mutiple selection box. when i submit i just get the last selected value for example if i hold ctrl and press 1 2 3 4 i am only receiving 4 on my database. any ideas? thanks in advance for any help! Code: [Select] Hours Of Availability:<br> <select name="availability" multiple="multiple" size="9"> <option value="Monday - Period 1">Monday - Period 1</option> <option value="Monday - Period 2">Monday - Period 2</option> <option value="Monday - Period 3">Monday - Period 3</option> <option value="Monday - Period 4">Monday - Period 4</option> <option value="Monday - Period 5">Monday - Period 5</option> <option value="Monday - Period 6">Monday - Period 6</option> <option value="Monday - Period 7">Monday - Period 7</option> <option value="Monday - Period 8">Monday - Period 8</option> <option value="Monday - Period 9">Monday - Period 9</option> </select> <select name="availability" multiple="multiple" size="9"> <option value="Tuesday - Period 1">Tuesday - Period 1</option> <option value="Tuesday - Period 2">Tuesday - Period 2</option> <option value="Tuesday - Period 3">Tuesday - Period 3</option> <option value="Tuesday - Period 4">Tuesday - Period 4</option> <option value="Tuesday - Period 5">Tuesday - Period 5</option> <option value="Tuesday - Period 6">Tuesday - Period 6</option> <option value="Tuesday - Period 7">Tuesday - Period 7</option> <option value="Tuesday - Period 8">Tuesday - Period 8</option> <option value="Tuesday - Period 9">Tuesday - Period 9</option> </select> <select name="availability" multiple="multiple" size="9"> <option value="Wednesday - Period 1">Wednesday - Period 1</option> <option value="Wednesday - Period 2">Wednesday - Period 2</option> <option value="Wednesday - Period 3">Wednesday - Period 3</option> <option value="Wednesday - Period 4">Wednesday - Period 4</option> <option value="Wednesday - Period 5">Wednesday - Period 5</option> <option value="Wednesday - Period 6">Wednesday - Period 6</option> <option value="Wednesday - Period 7">Wednesday - Period 7</option> <option value="Wednesday - Period 8">Wednesday - Period 8</option> <option value="Wednesday - Period 9">Wednesday - Period 9</option> </select> <select name="availability" multiple="multiple" size="9"> <option value="Thursday - Period 1">Thursday - Period 1</option> <option value="Thursday - Period 2">Thursday - Period 2</option> <option value="Thursday - Period 3">Thursday - Period 3</option> <option value="Thursday - Period 4">Thursday - Period 4</option> <option value="Thursday - Period 5">Thursday - Period 5</option> <option value="Thursday - Period 6">Thursday - Period 6</option> <option value="Thursday - Period 7">Thursday - Period 7</option> <option value="Thursday - Period 8">Thursday - Period 8</option> <option value="Thursday - Period 9">Thursday - Period 9</option> </select> <select name="availability" multiple="multiple" size="9"> <option value="Friday - Period 1">Friday - Period 1</option> <option value="Friday - Period 2">Friday - Period 2</option> <option value="Friday - Period 3">Friday - Period 3</option> <option value="Friday - Period 4">Friday - Period 4</option> <option value="Friday - Period 5">Friday - Period 5</option> <option value="Friday - Period 6">Friday - Period 6</option> <option value="Friday - Period 7">Friday - Period 7</option> <option value="Friday - Period 8">Friday - Period 8</option> <option value="Friday - Period 9">Friday - Period 9</option> </select> <select name="availability" multiple="multiple" size="9"> <option value="Saturday - Period 1">Saturday - Period 1</option> <option value="Saturday - Period 2">Saturday - Period 2</option> <option value="Saturday - Period 3">Saturday - Period 3</option> <option value="Saturday - Period 4">Saturday - Period 4</option> <option value="Saturday - Period 5">Saturday - Period 5</option> <option value="Saturday - Period 6">Saturday - Period 6</option> <option value="Saturday - Period 7">Saturday - Period 7</option> <option value="Saturday - Period 8">Saturday - Period 8</option> <option value="Saturday - Period 9">Saturday - Period 9</option> </select> <br>Press + Hold Ctrl For Multiple</p> According to http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=350872.0: Is this a correct usage of what I am trying to create? Hello, I had 8 select boxes(dropdowns) in a form. Its like a search kind of implementation in the website. I don't know what the user selects, he may choose different select boxes, any number of select boxes. So, based upon the user selection, I need to generate the data. The data fields to be generated would be almost same. So, How would I know what the user selection is and how many select boxes has been selected and how could I generate different data based upon selected boxes. I had to make a small note abt this, that the data generation fields may change for some of the user select combinations, but most of the result fields would be same. so, can you please help me out, how to do, how to make different combination data generations, because, i had 8 fields, i had to make 8! combinations, that would result in a big code. I want to have a search product feature, but I would like members to be able to search multiple fields in one go i.e. product_code, Product_name in one MySQL query. The thing is, members have to be logged on, so the query must also only show results relating to that specific member, via the session[member_ID], my current query for listing products for that specific member is : Code: [Select] $sql = "SELECT productId, productCode, image, name, price, stock_level FROM product_inventory WHERE memberr_ID = '" . $_SESSION['SESS_mem_ID'] . "; How would I change the above into a search query to search for productcode, productname and still only show results beloging to this member using the session data ? all help appreciated
Hello guys,
The patterns should defined by positions in the field. It's important that they aren't linear or circled. It needs to be a complex pattern. Hi guys, I'm using the API for Remember the Milk through a PHP class that I found online called PHP-RTM. Anyway after so much headaches (the authentication for the Remember the Milk API is one of the hardest I've ever come across) I've finally connected everything and gotten to the stage that I have some raw data inside an array. The next step is to work with that data. Basically I want to access the names of the task in a complex multi demensional array and I have no idea how to do this. I have done a var_dump of the array I am working with to show you the complexity. Just remember that in the complex var_dump below there are only 4 tasks: array(2) { ["stat"]=> string(2) "ok" ["tasks"]=> array(2) { ["rev"]=> string(31) "nxeir6vy9pcgcggoss4wwwooc8cwo8w" ["list"]=> array(3) { [/tt][list][li][tt]=> array(2) { ["id"]=> string( 8) "13927305" ["taskseries"]=> array(2) { [/tt][/li][li][tt]=> array(11) { ["id"]=> string(9) "104056511" ["created"]=> string(20) "2011-02-02T12:48:48Z" ["modified"]=> string(20) "2011-02-02T12:48:48Z" ["name"]=> string(42) "Send confirmation email to luxury car hire" ["source"]=> string(13) "iphone-native" ["url"]=> string(0) "" ["location_id"]=> string(0) "" ["tags"]=> array(0) { } ["participants"]=> array(0) { } ["notes"]=> array(0) { } ["task"]=> array(9) { ["id"]=> string(9) "156815180" ["due"]=> string(20) "2011-02-02T13:00:00Z" ["has_due_time"]=> string(1) "0" ["added"]=> string(20) "2011-02-02T12:48:48Z" ["completed"]=> string(0) "" ["deleted"]=> string(0) "" ["priority"]=> string(1) "N" ["postponed"]=> string(1) "0" ["estimate"]=> string(0) "" } } [1]=> array(11) { ["id"]=> string(9) "104148150" ["created"]=> string(20) "2011-02-03T01:25:57Z" ["modified"]=> string(20) "2011-02-03T01:26:17Z" ["name"]=> string(40) "Confirm that post has been sent with DVD" ["source"]=> string(2) "js" ["url"]=> string(0) "" ["location_id"]=> string(0) "" ["tags"]=> array(0) { } ["participants"]=> array(0) { } ["notes"]=> array(0) { } ["task"]=> array(9) { ["id"]=> string(9) "156951316" ["due"]=> string(20) "2011-02-02T13:00:00Z" ["has_due_time"]=> string(1) "0" ["added"]=> string(20) "2011-02-03T01:25:57Z" ["completed"]=> string(0) "" ["deleted"]=> string(0) "" ["priority"]=> string(1) "N" ["postponed"]=> string(1) "0" ["estimate"]=> string(0) "" } } } } [1]=> array(2) { ["id"]=> string( 8) "13925842" ["taskseries"]=> array(12) { ["id"]=> string( 8) "98105089" ["created"]=> string(20) "2010-12-19T11:25:25Z" ["modified"]=> string(20) "2011-02-02T13:01:42Z" ["name"]=> string(25) "Read for one hour per day" ["source"]=> string(13) "iphone-native" ["url"]=> string(0) "" ["location_id"]=> string(0) "" ["rrule"]=> array(2) { ["every"]=> string(1) "1" ["$t"]=> string(21) "INTERVAL=1;FREQ=DAILY" } ["tags"]=> array(0) { } ["participants"]=> array(0) { } ["notes"]=> array(0) { } ["task"]=> array(9) { ["id"]=> string(9) "156576423" ["due"]=> string(20) "2011-02-02T13:00:00Z" ["has_due_time"]=> string(1) "0" ["added"]=> string(20) "2011-02-01T13:01:45Z" ["completed"]=> string(0) "" ["deleted"]=> string(0) "" ["priority"]=> string(1) "N" ["postponed"]=> string(1) "0" ["estimate"]=> string(0) "" } } } [2]=> array(2) { ["id"]=> string( 8) "17007566" ["taskseries"]=> array(11) { ["id"]=> string(9) "104017503" ["created"]=> string(20) "2011-02-02T05:45:04Z" ["modified"]=> string(20) "2011-02-03T02:29:55Z" ["name"]=> string(96) "Hook up watermark for both videos (check email) and send to Rachelle and Steve at compare quotes" ["source"]=> string(2) "js" ["url"]=> string(0) "" ["location_id"]=> string(0) "" ["tags"]=> array(0) { } ["participants"]=> array(1) { ["contact"]=> array(3) { ["id"]=> string(7) "2150286" ["fullname"]=> string(10) "Samuel Nam" ["username"]=> string(10) "samuel.nam" } } ["notes"]=> array(0) { } ["task"]=> array(9) { ["id"]=> string(9) "156754354" ["due"]=> string(20) "2011-02-02T13:00:00Z" ["has_due_time"]=> string(1) "0" ["added"]=> string(20) "2011-02-02T05:45:04Z" ["completed"]=> string(20) "2011-02-03T02:32:00Z" ["deleted"]=> string(0) "" ["priority"]=> string(1) "N" ["postponed"]=> string(1) "0" ["estimate"]=> string(0) "" } } } } } } Anyone know the code i can use to simply get the "name" keys from the complex array below. The title, entry and firstname values are successfully displayed on the resulting page. However, I can't seem to figure out how to get the picture to be displayed. Note that the picture was successfully stored in the database and I was able to view it on a separate page using a simple select query. It is now just a question of how to get it to display on this particularly crowded page. Anyone knows how I can output the picture in the img tag? I tried placing the header("Content-type: image/jpeg"); statement at the top of the php segment, then just right below the select query and finally just right above the img tag, but in every case, I just got a big white blank page starring at me. How and where should I place the header statement? And what else am I to do to get this picture displayed? Any help is appreciated. Well, as i said in my previous post, im pretty new into php, mysql, i was searching into how to make queries but i can't find where to learn doing real complex ones. This is how it goes, -i've got an array full of id's -inside my table i wan't to get all the values where folder_id == to any id inside my array(i guess a loop would do this) -and i wan't to get only the first 20 values of the columns (folder_id and photo) for every folder_id any suggestions? thanks This topic has been moved to MySQL Help. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=327011.0 Hey guys,
Thank you in advance... here is my situation, I have a form with three (3) fields in it, the 'student name' is unlimited textfield with an "add more" button to it and I have two select fields ('number of shirts' and 'trophies') that depend on the number of entries for 'student name'...
I want to create the select fields based on this math, for as many 'student name' entries:
1- i want to have the select form for 'number of shirts' to be 0 up to that number... so if there are 6 'student name' entries, the select options will be 0,1,3,4,5,6,7
2- I want to have the select form for 'trophies' to be 5 'student name' entries to 1 'trophies', for example if there are 6 'student name' entries, the select options will be 0,1... if there are 13 entries, options will be 0,1,2... So if there are less than 5 'student name' entries, the select field will not show (hidden)
of course if there are no 'student name' entries, these two fields won't show up (hidden)
let me know if that make sense and ANY help or directions will be GREATLY APPRECIATED.
Thanks guys!
This topic has been moved to MySQL Help. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=306845.0 Hi,
Well, I'm having this
The formatter threw an exception while trying to deserialize the message: Error in deserializing body of request message for operation 'GetSomething'. End element 'Body' from namespace 'http://schemas.xmlso.../soap/envelope/' expected. Found element 'param1' from namespace ''.
The soapclient request itself is something with multiple namespaces, like :
<aaa xmlns="namespace1"> <bbb xmlns="namespace2" xmlns:i="http://www.w3.org/20...hema-instance"> <requestparams>xxxxx</requestparams> </bbb> </aaa> So far I think this may got to do with multiple namespaces, so I've been trying to figure out how to deal with this for hours to no avail. Anyone can shed a light into this problem ? Thanks in advance, First, Happy X-Mas to all! I want to do a form for entering dog-show results. On first site of form the user is able to enter how many dogs for each class (there are youth and open class for example) he want to insert. So on second site there will be formfields for every dog in every class, created with php. User should be able to take dogname from jquery autocomplete - this works for multiple fields. But i need the according id to the dogname - and actual only one id is given - the first one is changing by choosing from autocomplete in next fields... Data came from a json array like 0: {dogidindatabase: "9892", value: "Excalibur Khali des Gardiens de la Cour ",…} dogidindatabase: "9892" label: "<img src='../main/img/female.png' height='20'>Excalibur Khali des Gardiens de la Cour " value: "Excalibur Khali des Gardiens de la Cour " 1: {dogidindatabase: "15942", value: "Excalibur from Bandit's World Kalli",…} dogidindatabase: "15942" label: "<img src='../main/img/male.png' height='20'>Excalibur from Bandit's World Kalli" value: "Excalibur from Bandit's World Kalli"all i need is inside ... the script in form is <script type='text/javascript'> //<![CDATA[ $(function() { $(".dog").autocomplete({ source: "xxx.php", minLength: 3, select: function(event, ui) { $('#dogidindatabase').val(ui.item.dogidindatabase); } }); $["ui"]["autocomplete"].prototype["_renderItem"] = function( ul, item) { return $( "<li></li>" ) .data( "item.autocomplete", item ) .append( $( "<a></a>" ).html( item.label ) ) .appendTo( ul ); }; }); //]]> </script>and the form looked like <input type='text' name='dog' class='dog' value='".strip_tags(${'dogname' .($countbabymale+1)})."' size='35' data-required='true' /><br> <input class='readonly' readonly='readonly' type='text' id='dogidindatabase' name='dogidindatabase' size='5' />I changed in script and form id='dogidindatabase' to class, but it doesn´t work. Testsite is under http://www.wolfdog-d...how.php?lang=de (only german at first) - Insert a number (higher than 1) under baby 3-6 (first box, the others are not working for testing); submit to get to page 2; you see all post-variables (for testing). Try to insert a dogname in first input-field (choose "exc") and insert first one - the id is under dogname. In second dogname inputfield you can choose second dog - the id for the first one changes to id of seond one .... How can i get both for every dog? Hi, In my mysql database i have a text input option, in the registration form and edit my details form i have a multiple select dropdown list, which user selects options to populate the text input box, which ultimately populates the text field in the mysql database. All works perfectly. The dropdownlist consists of 3 parts <optgroups> first is current selection (what is the usesr current selection)works fine, The second <optgroup> is existing words, what words we(the site) have given as options, and the third <optgroup> is the words that others have used. This is where im having a small problem. Because its a text field when i call the data from the database, it calls the entire text box as a single option in my select list.. I want to break the words in the text field (at the comma) and have them listed each one as an option in the select list.
