PHP - Delete From Custom Order List Problem

Hope someone here can help me. Ive been commissioned to convert a template to wordpress that includes a portfolio...

I built a portfolio page from a custom post type. that works.
Items are categorized with a custom taxonomy named port_cats. that works also

On the portfolio page, there is tabbed content built with jquery to show and hide items by category. So theres a category nav menu, plus each item wrapped in classes to show and hide.

Im stuck on plugging this in correctly, and am SO CLOSE. I have the category nav list working, but having trouble getting worpress to read the correct category slug inside the loop.


Heres how the jquery needs to work:

Whats happening is that worpdress is repeating the last category slug on every display item...
can anyone tell me what i have wrong here???

I am very new new php (wrote my first PHP script 5 Days ago) and am trying to give myself a crash course but I have hit a pit-stop which is killing me a little!

I hope that title makes sense.... Basically I created PHP script to take data from a database and display in, I then wrote some code to use a drop down menu to order that data. That all worked ok until I tried to utilise some pagination. I can make the pagination work, and I can make the ordering work, but not at the same time! At the moment the code that I have will allow me to order the list and almost paginate it. There are 40 results and I want to display 10 at a time. When not using the ordering code I can paginate it perfectly but when I try to intergrate the two bits of code it will only display the first 10 results and not give me an option to go to the next page to see the rest!

We our creating an admin page to display a list of all the items within a mysql database, these items are within a table called "item". Each item is categorized, these categories are in a table called "category" each category has an ID. There is then a table called "links" which links the items to their category using ID's.

We want to display each item by their category with an edit and delete button. We have it so all the items display with the two buttons in no specific order however we are not too sure how to make it so they all display via their category.

to me i don't see a problem but obviously there is.

it is not deleting the field that the form is sending.

it does complete the header fine.

I'm sure it's not much, but I'm not understanding something with custom error handlers:

I've created a custom error handler, which I initially set when my page loads :

set_error_handler(array ( new ErrorHandler(), 'handleError' ));

 

It seems to catch all internal PHP errors, such as if I: var_dump($non_existing_var); right after the set_error_handler....

Now, I have an object that throws an exception after:

set_error_handler(array ( new ErrorHandler(), 'handleError' )); 
$locale = new \CorbeauPerdu\i18n\Locale(...); // this should throw an exception 
...

I thought that with an error handler set, I could 'skip' the try/catch for it, but doing so, PHP spits out in its internal log:

PHP Fatal error: Uncaught CorbeauPerdu\i18n\LocaleException: ....

 

My error handler doesn't catch it at all before, thus my page breaks!!

If I want it to go through the error handler, I have to init my Locale with a try/catch and use trigger_error() like so:

set_error_handler(array ( new ErrorHandler(), 'handleError' ));

try { 
  $locale = new \CorbeauPerdu\i18n\Locale(...); // this should throw an exception 
}
catch(Exception $e) {

Simple for you, but I am very new to just messing around with mysql functions.   I have 1 table that tracks both the item id and the amount of views the item has.   The id column is called gId, and the views column is called gplays.   All I am trying to do is get it to show a list of the latest 100 items, but sort them as most viewed.   I've looked at online tutorials to googling the function, but can't find anything that works.   Here's my current code:

that just shows the latest 100.   When I try

        ORDER BY gId DESC, gplays DESC LIMIT 100");

I get nothing different. If I do

        ORDER BY gplays DESC LIMIT 100");

I get the 100 results, but they are from all items, and I want to only get it from the latest 100 items.   Can someone help me? I really have no idea what these functions are doing, other than the very basic tutorials I've read on the order by function.

Hi, ppl, my problem is that whenever the DELETE link is clicked, a javascript confirm  box pops up and it should only delete the record with the ID from the $_GET global array if the user clicks the OK button, otherwise it should just redirect to the table of entries WITHOUT DELETION, but somehow it IS DELETING even when CANCEL button of javascript confirm box clicked. Having issues with a small piece of script.  Trying to delete entries from a database.  First, the essentials:

the button being clicked is named 'delete'
the columns in the actual table are 'INDEX' 'SUBJECT' 'MSG_TEXT' and 'MSG_DATE'

My delete button will not work for some reason.  I have created a loop, ordered my database entries with $i and have gotten closer, but not 100% of the way to making it work.  I am trying to delete rows from my database individually.  Not sure where I am going wrong with my syntax, but something is not working.  The entries are not deleting nor am I receiving any errors.  I am stumped.  Here is the code.  I shortened it for readability.
