PHP - Make Ajax Run A Specific Php Function

Hi,

I'm experimenting with CURL. I'm trying to post data with CURL.

Everything went fine until I found a form where the site submits data using AJAX technology.

The data is still in <input> tag, so I can "type" it there using CURL. However, I can't submit the data as it is executed via <a> tag with Javascript (AJAX).

Could you guys help me with this? Is it possible for PHP to execute AJAX function(with parameters sending)? Is there any similar example somewhere?

Is there any way to tell my php ajax file to run the update query if the data already exist and if not, then create the row in the database?  I have both the update and the insert functions created, but was just wondering if I could tell php which one to use without passing through a parameter.

Hello, everyone. I have code that effectively calls a PHP page with AJAX  (no JQuery).  The PHP responds fine with an echo.  Here is the javaScript that calls the PHP so refreshing the page doesn't need to be done.

form example, in the first page, there is a article, it takes contents from database, if a article is shorter than 1000, it displays the full content on the first page, if its longer than 1000, it will display a short part of article, and displays a 'read more' on the end of the article. how to make this? I use the Wholesale Suite Premium Prices plugin with WooCommerce. I have 6 specific wholesale roles out of 15 that I wish to hide two specific shipping methods from being selected for the 6 exceptions. I'm just trying this on my staging server at this time using a code snippet example that I found and modified for my specific conditions. Would the following work for this purpose?

I want the code to scan the text - and if there is say <br> - it will remove it an replace it with a line break.

What I'm asking is if it is possible to make the form-action from testSite.php run the createDb function from mainClass.php
I have pretty much no idea how to do it but I tried like this:

I need $row['con_id'] outside the function so I can put it into a query, but simply putting global in front of it won't work. What would be the right way to do?

The PHP documentation does not show any examples how to GLOBALIZE a mysqli function. I'd need a way to use $row['con_id'] outside the function for the voting script I'm writing.

another issue for me i cannot find an answer for.  according to this thread: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/8803994/php-mail-not-working-for-some-reason, mail() doesn't work when smtp is not configured properly.  I checked my server files and I do not have a .ini file.  am I spose to have one by default?  and, according to this question in the godaddy community: https://www.godaddy.com/community/Using-WordPress/PHP-ini-how-to-make-changes-using-cPanel/td-p/119704, configuration of PHP in general should be done in the .user.ini file instead of in php.ini.  the following code, which is what I have now, results in no mail being sent to my address so either my code is wrong or my configs are not set properly I'm guessing:

also, in the stackoverflow article I mentioned above, one of the responders suggests using PHPMailer as a better way to send mail using PHP.  Is that true?  I've always used mail() in the past and I've never been let down in terms of a message *not* being sent.  PHP.net says the same thing as the response from stackoverflow as well.   thanks!

I'm using netbeans 7.0 (which by the way rocks !!!!! ), and I don't want to be able to see the documentation in other files when I start typing something similar.

I read at pear.net coding standards that the '@param private' can be used on class methods.  Is there a way to make the documentation private to the file that the function is declared in?

I'm simply trying not to flood other files in the project with needless function suggestions.

Right now I redirect to index page after I delete a record.  However I am looking to make it so that I can delete a record without redirecting the page. I know this can be accomplised using Ajax.  I have spent countless hours before trying to make it work, but it did not work.   So here is a basic setup I created.   Can you please update it with ajax code so that I can see how it's done properly?

Now I'm having this strange issue with my website

I'm currently working on a tester system and I've encountered a problem that I'm unable to find the issue, tho I'm thinking my ajax php part of the script to be the thing causing it even tho it seems strange that it would cause it.

The first part which is connected to where the problem occurs is the echo"<form>"; and from there, It should take you to index.php?page=tester&select=answer, now that is where it in the browser goes there tho it still shows the page stuff from the last page which is index.php?page=tester&select=applications, so it's like showing both &select=answer and &select=applications on the same page.

I've been trying this for hours now, looking at different examples and trying to change them to work for me, but with no luck...

This is what I am trying to do:

I have a simple form with:
- 1 input field, where I can enter a number
- 1 Submit Button

When I enter a number into the field and click submit, I want that number to be send to the php file that is in the ajax call, then the script will take that number and run a bunch of queries and then return a new number. I want that new number to be used to call the php script via ajax again, until no number is returned, or something else is returned like the word "done" or something like that, at which point is simply makes an alert or populated a div with a message...

The point is, that depending on the number entered it could take up to an hour to complete ALL the queries, so I want the script that is called to only run a fixed amount of queries at a time and then return the number it is currently at (+1), so that it can continue with the next number when it is called again.

I would like to use jquery, but could also be any other way, as long as I get this to work. I already have the php script completed that needs to be called by the ajax, it returns a single number when being called.
