PHP - I Want To Display Just Top 5 Rows From The Database

Sorry if this belongs in the MySQL section. I figured it might be more of a PHP thing.
I have a database where rows each have a number, which is used to determine what order they appear in on my PHP page. But right now they aren't like 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. They are a little jumbled because of deleting some and changing some, so they're more like 1, 3, 7, etc. Is there a way to make them 1, 2, 3, 4 with PHP? Like, put them in order and number them accordingly?

I'm trying to delete rows in the database, based on what checkboxes are left empty by the user...

What i have is small application in which a user can add an item to the database and give it tags...

for example there is "apple" and it has the tags of "fruit, red, round"

What i want is for the user to be able to edit those tags, so the user can remove "fruit" and add "sweet" instead or just remove "fruit" all at the same time.

The code i have, somewhat works...

This code below loops through the checkboxes and should remove the items that are no longer checked, by going through the database and grabbing all the tags and them checking it against those that are still checked and remove the ones that it didn't find checked...??

However whats happening is when i unchecked say "red" it removes all the other items..so if i had "red, fruit, round' and i want to remove "red" it leaves red but removes the rest.

This following piece of code just adds a new tag...however i want it to check to see if that tags already exist in the database, if it does then don't add it just add the new ones..

My final problem is that i can't remove items if the second snippet of code is there, i have to remove those lines of code in order to remove items, however i can add items with both loops there.

I'm basically stuck and hope that someone here can shed some light on what i'm doing wrong, because i know i'm doing something wrong i just can't find it

I can't seem to get the math right!

I have a function, pulling 13 states (canadian provinces) from the database and I can't seem to get them all to show in 5 columns. Where am I doing this wrong. The code below only shows 7 of 13... I just can't seem to get where I am off!

Ok guys, I am working on my code as I am checking the row in a database that if i have got a same row that I insert the functions in the URL then throw the error that says "you can't store". When I am checking as the rows have already exist, i keep getting "you can now store".

Do you know how i can check in a database to see if the rows is exist?

Let's assume this is my table

Now I want to print stone cold rows. Which is row 1,3 and 4 just exactly the same format with he above table. How do I get to do that.

I don't understand how to put each row for stone cold into HTML row. Please don't be annoyed by my question, I know its a simple stuff but I've tried several stuffs, I can't get what I need still. If I print $rowB I get all want from the database in arrays. Thanks!!!

   I have created a table named multipath with database name "mydatabase".. I have created a table to store the data in the tables. Check boxes are created to select one row each to delete. But I am unable to delete the rows. Why??

Hey everyone i having some trouble updating records in my databse using checkbox from a form.

I can update the records, but i can't figure out how to remove records at the same time.

I've posted the code that i'm using to update below

This code inserts new records based on what the user checked. If it exist it won't add a new row, if it doesn't exist then it will add a new row. but like i said how can remove a row if the box is no longer checked?

I've tried using

foreach(empty($_POST['tag'] as $k => $l){
       $tag = empty($_POST['tag']['$k'];
}


But that didn't work basically nothing was deleted.

Has anyone done something like this before? if so i would appreciate any help you could give

The problem is its not checking the row pet its just checking to see if anything exists

my database has

its just seeing joe and echoing "there was 1 record found" instead of seeing that the row pet is empty.

Hello everyone,   I new to the php world and I'm only working with it for 5 days now. So I'm a noob   But I've got a good start atm, I already could connect a database with my webpage and show all my coloms I need.   Now I got a problem with the fact, my database is way to big to display on 1 page. I've got my code working OK in that the correct results are drawn from the database. What I have here in the code is an array consisting of an image, accompanied by its title and thirdly a link to activate a quiz associated with the image. Everything works fine, except because the page is dynamic, I always have an unknown number of sets of data (image, title and link) which I want to display so that each set of data takes up a new row.
The code I have here, while displaying the correct data, places all of the results into the same row.
Any suggestions are most welcome.

i'm trying to echo out the results from a query onto a page, but rather than having them echo out as rows in a table, i want them to be displayed in columns, i.e. first column would have the first 10 results and the second column would have the next to. Any ideas on how i could do this?

at the moment i'm using this code to display my results

I have this script below which i thought would update multiple rows in my database, but all it does is refresh and revert back to its original data. Im guessing my problem is in my update script but  I cant seem to find where I have gone wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi All,

I'm hoping someone can help me. I'm looking to create a form that will submit multiple entries to a MySQL database depending on the options selected on the form. I am able to submit single entries, but the multiple entire is a bit of a mystery to me.

I have attached an JPG image to show an example of how I would like the form to work.

I have also added the description/explination below to this example:

Example 1            
The form was completed and three access types were selected. Thus Three entries, all with the Same Reference number were captured into the database   
         
Example 2            
The form was completed and Two Access Types were selected. Thus Two entries, all with the Same Reference number were captured into the database

The form was completed and Four Access Types were selected. Thus Four entries, all with the Same Reference number were captured into the database
