PHP - Shopping Cart Merge/update Information For One Product.

Lovely forum. So I'm building a simple shopping cart from php and mysql. Whenever I update the quantity of the item that I want, I don't want it to duplicate all of the information but instead want it to merge the quantity together. Below is an example of what happens. Note that Test Item has been added to the cart 3 separate times with different quantities (2, 1, and 1). How can I merge this information to show Test Item once with the total quantity? I know it's some kind of merge, but I'm a coding noob. Thanks! Similar TutorialsThis is the code that I'm using for a shopping cart in order to update the quantity if the same product id is chosen. $cart_items is a two-dimensional session array composed of the id session array and the quantity session array. While looping through $cart_items, I create a temporary array $temp_array so that I can execute some logic on the array without changing the normal output. $temp_array is the $cart_items array without the last items which would be the $_REQUEST id and the $_REQUEST quantity. So the two $_REQUESTs are popped off with array_pop and then the remaining $_SESSIONs are compared to the $_REQUEST id with

There are two problems with this code. First of all the var_dump of the $temp_array is always an empty array but I am expecting to get an array with just the last element popped off. Secondly,

I want things to stay in the cart for up to 2 weeks after they're added, without the need for somebody to log-in to their account to store them. Should I store the information in a database some how and then set a cookie referencing the cart_id in the db? When my checkout.php script loads, I need to run some checks on all cart items and take appropriate action. For example, a "Trial Offer" is only available to non-Members, so if a Member somehow has a "Trial Offer" in his/her shopping cart then I'd like my checkout.php script to remove that automatically from the Member's cart. So when checkout.php loads, one of the first things I do is to read the user's shopping cart items from the database. But what is the most logical way to update the shopping cart table? Do I load the shopping cart records into an array, then iterate through them, remove any non-applicable "Trial Offers" and then write things back to the shopping cart table? (If so, then how do I merge things? This is what is confusing me...) Or do I somehow iterate through the shopping cart records for the user and update each record at a time and avoid loading things into memory like using an array? Hi, Im trying to make a shopping cart. I need each textbox assigned to the shopping cart ID to include in the WHERE cause to update the qty otherwise they all get updated the same qty. I've been bringing my skills up to date a lot doing this project, however, having said that I now can't figure out why my cart is not adding the items to the cart, i've checked the post data and the quantity is set to 1. I have a task that seems to be complex.
Short Description: currently users of the application I am hired to develop have two steps to do when using the app:
1. Select a Product Line (A, B, C, D)
2. Select input parameters for that product line - all product lines have simlar "Main" input parameters, but also each line has its own special features that can be selected.
3. Selections for that product line are shown - the result is a long table or options for that particular product line. Things like price, discounts, product specifications, etc.
What the users want now is this:
1. Select input parameters (not sure how to handle individual product lines special parameters yet)
2. Selections for all product lines are shown
The code base is legacy code, with code thrown around everywhere. One idea me and my coworkers have been considering is a complete rewrite, since it will help us with writing tighter code, and do what the customer wants. But that will also take time, and there is no spec. The spec is in the code mess.
Another one is I am considering now is a "merge". Somehow merge the product lines, since we have the separate product modules (A, B, C, D), there must be a way to consider maybe extending one to include the others, or somehow get me to the end result -- allow users to see selections for all product lines.
Do you have any experience, any suggestions on how to do this? I know this needs details, and details are in my code that you don't see, and most likely won't have the time to read and understand anyway.
But I am looking for any ideas or encouragement though that may help. And my question is -- is there any kind of procedure or technique or something to deal with the problem I am facing -- merging several separate yet similar modules into one single merged module. How do I approach this, what are some things that could help, etc. That's what I'm looking for.

Need some help on developing the steps below I am working on a website money collection system that consist of stores affiliating to the website and sales their products in the website as independent stores. But I am not sure how to collect the percentage I will deduct per transaction for the stores. I have elaborated two plans but I don't know is those a good ideas in terms of bringing more store in to the website and have them comfortable by the way the website hold business with their stores owners. 1- I was thinking of collecting all the money of transactions into a single paypal account and then try to pay them weekly or in a monthly basis. (I am not sure about this first option because I don't know whether the store owners will be thinking to much into it at the time of making a decision to register and to sell their products in the website. I guess they might think whether the website administrator will delivery the money every week, or if the website administrators are going to steal them etc. So this option I don't know if with some changes can be implemented. 2- The second option was to let each store administer each transaction with their credit/debit machine they have at the store and make the transaction right there and then on a monthly or weekly basis the website administrator charge them for the amount of transaction done during that time period in the website. 3- Third option is create a paypal account for each store and at the moment of the transaction to transfer the money to each store account and have the website paypal account deduct its percentage from the transaction and have the store owner paypal account deduct its part. For healthy business purpose and website grow in terms of acquiring more stores into the website which of those three options would be the best option to choose or if there is another idea even better for business grow and comfortability among stores owner that you guys might have in mind share it. I have a MotoCMS web site and would like to but a shopping cart in one page all I need is a "Buy Now" button that can hold the "Item Name" "Price" and "Quantity" and Maybe a selectable option? And a "Cart" for my PayPal that I can put anywhere on the page. If I have to use a database that is OK.
I can put the product pictures and info on the page and then a Buy Now link button would be great.
Does anyone know of a shopping cart that I can use to do this?

Is it hard to integrate a shopping cart into a website. Any good example snippets of code to look at? I have a little search but someone always seems to know a better one. Why are almost all tutorials these days you have to pay for (times are getting hard ). i make a shopping cart,but it dont show the product i have choose. it suppose to show the product i choose at the cart table but its still show the "Your Cart is empty" result..im still new.i follow the instruction from the youtube.sorry for my bad english.
